JOHNB landed two winners on Thursday but was disappointed to see one end up a dead heat to dent his profit.

He still ended 5.38pts up for the day though and he's now 13.67pts down for the month heading into Friday.

Johnb says: “I have already advised Churchill for next year's 2000 Guineas & Derby – he has been really impressive this season and my view is he will get even better next year.

“Blue Point on the other hand is harder to call for how he will progress next year. If he trains on then in my view it’s a straight fight between Blue Point & Churchill but in the Derby Churchill is the only horse for me – he gives me the same excitement as Golden Horn did.

“But to answer my question earlier the most impressive horse I have seen this year is BLUE POINT with Churchill and Annie Power a close second and third.”

    Evening all,

After a quite few days I’m back with my 3rd increased selection bet of the month.

    1.35 Newcastle – Dubawi Fifty 13/8

Dubawi fifty improved massively for the step up to 2 miles last time at Newcastle and left the impressive that this well bred son of Dubawi would finally furfil his potential. Previously owned by godolphin he was sold as a 2yo he then made 1 start for James Tate before being purchased by the Rooneys and moved to Karen Mclintocks. He has solely ran at Newcastle since, recording some decent performances (always running on too late). Last time over 2miles he stayed on powerfully- extending to the line beating some useful opposition. He relished the step up in trip and I don’t see why he can’t follow up tomorrow. He has been raised 3lbs for that success but off 79 he could well turn out to be a horse rated well above that rating (I know the Northumberland Plate is already being considered as a target down the line). The opposition do look useful tomorrow but, main danger Mister bob also carried a penalty and hung baldy in the closing stages last time – he looks opposable. Everything points at a big run tomorrow from Dubawi Fifty and at around 13/8 I will be increasing my stake- but as always nothing is assured in racing.

Note: Newcastle is not showing up for some reason on the RP app but I can assure you it is taking place.

    Thanks and GL to all

Apologies I forgot to mention Dubawi Fifty also gets the handy 3yo allowance.

      Many thanks

    • trickytjm 2 years ago

      WH currently 15/8

I am dumbstruck as to why they tried to make the running on Dubawi Fifty there. Front runners on the round track at Newcastle have a shocking record- I think only 1 winner. Ludicrous.

    • punterpounder 2 years ago

don’t doubt your a good tipster but that run was crap.

I can only apologise, as you know nothing is assured in racing. Since I started posting tips on here I am over 100 points up and still over 20 points up for the month. The horse was well backed and sent off 11/8 fav, I am lost to explain why they made the running on the horse- this wasn’t factored in.

Let’s hope for better in the future.

It’s worth noting my increased stake bets stand at 7 winners from 11 bets.

        • punterpounder 2 years ago

don’t feel the need to apologize its just a bit frustrating not to get what the horse is capable of but I have one winner already and two runners still to go in my l15 so its not all bad that’s just the way racing goes

You have to laugh at jockeys that don’t have a clue about pace,
Yet again another jockey content with sitting well off the pace in a slow run race and just failing to get there,
People say I am on a bad run,
I am not on a bad run I am just having to deal with jockey errors, yet again as has happened so many times I was on the right horse just another jockey who thinks he’s on a machine
You gotta love horse racing ?

    • jimron12 2 years ago

      To be a jockey eh!!

Haven’t watched the race yet will later on only can see what racing post is saying and they seem to point to a mixture of leaving it to late and other one idling along ….

Short memory johnb you blaming jockeys today myself and a few others blamed ruby Walsh for loosing on vroum vroum mag and you said no way was it ruby’s fault but in my opinion it was he’s fault

Yeah mate i recall as he let me down the gangster! His fault alright

  19. thehawk 2 years ago

Don’t agree with JB cant see Criq Rock ever beating Topofthegame who will improve bundles for that run today and was idling in run in.

    • stevie 2 years ago

Totally agree with……… johnb. Left it far too much to do against an obviously decent horse. Should have been right with him throughout the race and would have won comfortably.

  20. jamesonthemoney 2 years ago

Criq Rock was held up in both its last two races , you surely must have known it would be held up again ?

Hutchinson is a bang average jockey and you knew he would be riding surely ?

As far as I’m concerned in both previous races , Criq Rock flattered to deceive and was never going to get close to winning.

If he had been with the pace , topofthegame would not have idled so badly and would have gone clear of Criq Rock , without a doubt.

This is a horse that beat No Hassle Hoff, easily by 9 lengths.

A line through No Hassle Hoff coming 3rd in the Albert Bartlett trial at Cheltenham , showed that the horse is decent and got nowhere near Topofthegame.

Had no business ever being 3/1 , Criq Rock was a weak favourite for a reason , there’s a reason he stated favourite and steadily drifted.

Hutchinson is bang average but it was a predictable result regardless of his inept riding.

    • jimron12 2 years ago

Teach me for not following the tracker!!!

      • jamesonthemoney 2 years ago

No bet day for me after poor recent results , tipped it to my grandad last night at 3/1….

He backed Tales of the tweed ?.

Ascot is very tricky today but:

        13:55 Captain Forez 7/2

Hopefully come on a fair amount after last time out , got tired late on but was running well until that point , debatable if Bags Groove franked the form or let it down ?

Rather wait until tomorrow’s racing, 12:20 Haydock Cloudy Dream and Buveur D’Air….

Interesting to see how that gets priced up.

Jamesonthemoney I have to agree with everything you said about topofthegame your spot on I backed him myself

    • Johnb 2 years ago

      jamesonthemoney but wayoffwithhisracereading

You can’t have the argument of held up in last two races, you have to look at the way a race is run and this was a slow run race so the jockey has to adapt to give the horse the best possible chance of winning,
But for a poor ride Criq Rock was a good 5 lengths better than the winner today
But it’s racing, we just get on with it

      • jamesonthemoney 2 years ago

I stated that you must have expected the horse to be held up , you should have.

Where did I say , that it was meant it didn’t win ?

Criq Rock has no outstanding piece of form to suggest he was the most likely winner ?

How much a horse costs does not always relate to success but when Criq Rock costs £40, 000 and Topofthegame costs £120,000, I think you can expect Topofthegame to be a decent sort.

Then we see Topofthegame is under the care of the top trainer , King is a good trainer but Nicholls is obviously more successful.

        Another plus for Topofthegame.

        Previous races:

Topofthegame one run in a point to point , very strong form , easily beating No Hassle Hoff who would have won his first two races if not for an unlucky fall at the last and subsequently running very well in a stronger race than today’s.

        Criq Rock’s previous races?

14th in the Champion Bumper , which has been shown to be a below par champion bumper and profitable to oppose.

        A disappointing 3rd in a class 4 race when 1/2 on.

A well beaten 2nd in a class 3 race ( winner since well beaten today )

The horse has been keen and he has not jumped any better than just fine in his races.

I’ve no idea how you came to the conclusion that Criq Rock is a worthy favourite ?

Topofthegame is and will prove to be a better horse than Criq Rock.

Wayne Hutchinson is a bang average jockey and you should expect a bang average ride , which you got.

        • jamesonthemoney 2 years ago

5 lengths better than the winner?

I would love to know where these 5 lengths come from ?

Criq Rock only got close to the winner because it was so green and idled so much , if Criq Rock had tracked the pace and jumped the last with Topofthegame, he would have lost by a lot more than he did.

Lucky to get close , it was never going to win.

  21. rale 2 years ago

Very disappointing from Dubawi Fifty. I don’t know is it because it was “forced” to lead, or something else, but not good.

      Very poor.

Front runners at Newcastle have a shocking record (see my post above) less than 5% strike rate. That is the only explanation for such a poor run.

        • jamesonthemoney 2 years ago

He was actually entered last weekend but obviously didn’t run, I’ve been really looking forward to it.

1/6 so obviously not a race you can back him in.

          I am thinking about backing
          A Great View 14/1

Mark Walsh on board and he is riding beautifully recently, I’m a big fan and like to see him on any horse I want to back.

Reasonable profit if it comes 3rd.

I wouldn’t back it without the favourite as Burgas may be a little too good for him.

Will enjoy the conditions and ran okay behind the great Min , 14/1 , hoping for 3rd and enjoying watching Yorkhill…

          Just talked myself into it.
