FOOTBALL really is a funny old game. I've followed a great run on the Super Singles with a poor one and I'm back to zero but at the same time have turned round the accumulators.

For the second day in a row I landed a treble – this time at 3-1 thanks to Blackburn to win and Caen and Getafe not to lose. Mainz beat the Super Single when they were held at home to Stuttgart.

After 36 bets in December I'm now 50 pence up – any ideas what I should spend it on? Hopefully I'll boost those figures today and I've always said it's better breaking even than losing a bundle.

I've posted Saturday Scottish and English previews and it's not an easy card – which explains the pattern of my top tips. Reasoning for most of them are in the previews.

And remember to check out our friends at We Love Betting for their latest tips and video chat.

    luton v NORTHAMPTON – 2/1
I don’t know where the bookies have got the odds for this from. 2/1 for a team who are on a six win streak and who haven’t lost in their last 9 games picking up 8 wins just seems ridiculous! Luton have also lost 3 on the trot and haven’t found a win for a month!

Millwall also look good at 6/5
Playing an Oldham side with the worst home record in league One finding just 1 win in 10 attempts!

    charlton v LEEDS – 13/8
Leeds coming off a good win against Hull which I was at and if Leeds play half as well as they did in the first half here they should win comfortably.

Swindon v Rochdale O2.5 and both teams to score – 21/20
Last 5 h2h’s have all seen this with Swindon’s last 6 home games also all seeing this.

Hasn’t been a good week really but hopefully the weekend can get bring us some nice profit! GL everyone.

Aresnal at 7/10 looks a steal to get 2+, European headache is the only thing that can stop this happening like when they drew at Norwich but will be on a high after qualifying. Scoring 4, 5 at home in H2H’s and 3 & 2 away. Also like Everton to get 2 in the early game at Norwich, scored twice in both league games last yr and flying just now scoring plenty. I’ve added in over 0.5 ht gls at Colchester and Bristol for 5/1+ @Coral on a free tenner courtesy of this site :)

Hi, Thanks for useful advice. I will use Man City, Hull and Livingston. Also I will add Everton wins (MightyTips says they will win for sure) and think this ACCA is very good for me. Thanks for really good outcome

It was a good day in Dubai yesterday. Well I imagine it was. More so for my only bet with Al Ahli scoring the two needed, but after covering early on it was only 1.23 points profit.

Todays bet takes me to the Premier League where last weekend it threw up some dodgy results. This bet doesn’t necessarily go off any stats, more of a gut feeling. I fancy the home sides chances of scoring so I’m going to risk them scoring twice. I could put a write up as to why I think this will come in and it go completely against the grain, so I won’t bother. Instead I’ll just say that I’ve seen a bit of Southampton over the past couple of weeks an I’ve not been overly impressed, especially in their Capital One Cup tie against Liverpool where they were pumped 6-1, and that was with a full strength line up. Palace did well to get a point at Goodison on Monday, but Lukaku could have walked away with the match ball on another night and Everton probably felt they should have scored three or four. Both teams haven’t shown too much good viewing in defence in recent weeks, and with both sides strong on the counter, I think we could have some goals at Selhurst Park. BTTS has been jotted down since Monday evening, but with prices of 4/5 and 5/6, the extra goal looks tempting with over 2.5 at odds against, so I’m having a small interest on that. Probably better bets out there but weather could be a factor in a few games tomorrow, but its supposed to be dry in South Norwood.

    Man Utd -0.5

I’m going against the grain to back Man Utd. While they haven’t been playing well but it’s hard to deny they are a decent away team. They have won 4, drawn 2 and lost 2 of their away games this season. On the other side, Bournemouth is the 2nd poorest home team in league.

Man Utd has not lost 2 games in a row this season. In the 3 occasions(90 mins game) where they suffered a defeat, they have managed to bounce back with a win in all 3 of them and scored 3 goals(3-1 v Liverpool, 3-2 v Southampton, 3-0 v Everton) in each game. The only time they failed to bounce back was after the pk loss to Boro in the league cup.

Firstly I have to mention Hull v Bolton, Bolton have just been hit with a winding up petition – roughly translated to ” we’ve not paid our bills ” that = players not being paid = players morale being at an all time low. They’re routed to the bottom of the table with an already low morale, facing the 2nd best defensive side in the league. I know Hull are without Dawson at their heart of defence, and since losing him, they’ve dropped points at a time when all those around them are staying consistent. Hull for me is a nailed on home banker. Yes, they’ve lost all 3 matches that Dawson has not been involved in and a tough late equaliser previous to that away to a struggling Bristol side and I really don’t see Hull having a plan ” b “. Bolton though are just shocking, just looking at their last 7 games – bet365 quick glance and it reads 3 losses and 4 draws. I know hull are 9/20 to win the tie and that’s a bit low BUT should overcome a side that is well and truly on the ropes both on the field and off it.

Probably the biggest tie of the weekend see’s my beloved Derby in 3rd at home to Brighton. Brighton have yet to be beaten at home or away in the league. Their away record is promotion standard. As the old saying goes, ” win your home games and get something from your away matches ” they have done exactly that, from 9 away’s, they’ve won 3 and drawn 6.
Brighton are a shadow of their form selves the season before last and aside from them beating us in march 2 nil at their place, we’ve been running them ragged the past half dozen or so fixtures. Inigo Calderon for me is their standout player and he may be fit for the game, Derby need to keep him quiet because I see him as their catalyst. Brighton do have somewhat of a left-back crisis. their first choice is out all season – like Derby’s Forsyth and their 2nd choice is also out injured for at least the next few weeks. Luckily, Derby’s Warnock is fighting fit after being subbed with a heavy blow to the ribs @ 60 mins or so. I expected Derby to gran all the points at Sheff Wed but it was one of those diabolical games for both sides with each team only having 1 clear cut chance late on.
With their left-back dilemma, I personally think its a game ripe for a Johnny Russell recall. He’s been a bit off the boil lately and he’s been sidelined in favour of Weimann who in fairness has upped his game. Derby have struggled for an effective attack this past 3 or 4 games and I think we need to go back to plan ” a ” and let Russell loose on their left back. This should give Martin better service so he can have a bash at bursting the net. Martin has struggled for goals this past 6 or so games and I’m starting to get slightly worried about that. I think Russell in the side and possibly bringing in Hendrick instead of Johnson or Butterfield and the team should click into place.
Carson is still out with a back injury but Lee Grant kept a clean sheet against Sheff Wed for only his 2nd start this season.
A win could see us 1 point behind Brighton and at evens with bet365, I have to say man for man, we’ve a better side than Brighton’s.

We also need to be on our toes if Brighton decide to throw in a late cameo appearance for Bobby Zamora, I do believe he’s past his best, I don’t think he has the legs in him to play half a match, let alone a full one but having witness’d in person what he CAN do given half a chance, he’ll pounce on it.. ( Wembley 93rd minute ).
I think Martin is due a goal, another Derby clean sheet is a possibility, and I’m still waiting for Derby to unleash a full broadside on a team for 90 minutes. Maybe this is that game.
Derby are evens with bet365 to win the game and will be on hand with regular match updates to try to give you guys a heads up on how we’re playing. If you are betting on Derby or considering it, I’d consider keeping tabs on this thread and if it looks like Derby have come out of the starting blocks with the right attitude, it might make sense to hold back until my first or second match update.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

Nathan as you see Hull are one of my main bets.

    Morning gents

It’s been a frustrating few weeks, good days are quickly cancelled out by poor days so looking to make it a good Saturday!

    Dundee United v Partick Thistle

If you have watched Hnited last few games it’s criminal that 1) they haven’t won 2) they havent scored more! They have relied heavily on Billy McKay and he’s the only United player to score in almost 100 days! He’s still scoring but boy has he misses some absolute sittersand at least 5 one one ones! United arenolaying wel enough but just haven’t been clinical! Today’s they welcome a thistle side who couldnt buy a goal at the start of the season but are on a good run of form Having suffered just one defeat in their last 7! They battered Killie 5-2 last week and will be full of confidance against the basement boys but United aren’t far away from finding three points! Both teams should be contributing to gosls, especially United if they can find their shooting boots!

Back over 2.5 match goals 19/20 (Bet365) (NAP)

    Swindon v Rochdale

It’s been a horrible season somfsr for the hosts, a run of , 10 defeats and two draws from 12 games saw them plum it to the bottom end of the table! Things look to be on the up Though! 3 wins from their last 4 and scleing goals! The last 4 meetings against Rochadale have all seen both teams score and their should be more goals on the cards today, especially from a revitalised Swindon!

Back over 2.5 match goals 5/6 (Skybet) (NB)

Sounds a bit derogatory. I’ve spent the best part of the last 2 years or so providing an insight into Derby’s pre-match thoughts/team news and post match analysis for the benefit of everyone on here. Info is the best tool at our disposal in beating the bookies. I also try to highlight both strengths and weakness’s in not only Derby’s team, but the opposition along with bits and bobs that should help steer punters away from stuff that I as a fan wouldn’t bet on and those things that have my interest. Hope that clears up who I am.

Have BAYERN-2, MAN CITY-1, CHELTENHAM-1, HULL and PETERBOROUGH on today £10 returns £163. My team AYR UNITED host promotion rivals DUNFERMLINE today, 2 weeks ago they knocked us out the cup in horrible conditions that turned the game into a lottery. To be honest there was nothing in it and with conditions calm on the south west coast im expecting a much better game. AYR are still without captain NICKY DEVLIN and JAMIE ADAMS is suspended but we still have enough in our squad to beat them. I don’t bet on my own team but for others out there AYR are 14/5 in some places and for a team who haven’t lost at home in the league, beat today’s opponents in the reverse fixture and are unbeaten in 14 league games it’s definetly worth a punt.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

Derby starting 11 is as you were, no changes from the last 11. Including the bench.

    Grant
    Christie/Keogh/Shackell/Forsyth
    Thorne
    Butterfield/Johnson
    Ince/Martin/Weimann

I’d of liked to seen a bit more of an attack minded midfield as we’re at home and the onus is on us to dictate the game.
Brighton unbeaten all season against the tightest defence in the league. I’d so like to see Martin get that monkey off his back with a goal, but it’s going to be down to how that service to him from the wings materialises. teams are starting to mark him out of the game and perhaps the boss knowing we have an unbeaten league topping side coming to our ground means we are going to have to be resolute in midfield. Incidentally, even though Martin has not scored in 7 games, he’s been instrumental with assists. He’s 4th in the league with 11 so he’s still putting in a shift.
I’d really like us to attack this game from the off, put some pressure on their back 4 ( especially their left back ). This could be a cagey affair with lots of midfield battles, but I know at some part Derby will at some point open the taps and put in the game of their lives. We’ve not seen it yet from the rams, dare I say it – we’ve been a bit ” Bournmouth ” – but they knew how to win a game against tough to break down teams. Look at where they are now.

Tom Ince isn’t on the goals, but he’s starting to become more box to box with defensive duties – as Russell does. Weimann is giving the boss a tough dilemma with regular good performances keeping Russell on the bench. I’d be surprised if Martin doesn’t get on the scoresheet today but it won’t be the end of the world if Derby goals come from elsewhere.

On a separate note : Nigel Clough back at Burton !!!!! If ever there’s gonna be a feelgood affect in any team in English footy, its gonna be with Burton away to Gillingham. They’re at a big big price of 11/5 to get the spoils.

If you fancy a cheeky £10, how about Hull 1/2, Derby 19/20, Burton 11/5 = pays out £96.20 including stake with bet365.

Derby on the attack from the whistle, first chance missed by Ince. Brighton are also not here just to make up the numbers, they’ve also attacked us early on too. I think theres goals in this game.

What has happened to Bayern?!! where’s the goals

  66. nathanufton 8 years ago

March is injured for Brighton, think he’s not gonna be on the pitch much longer. Derby keep up the pressure, really can’t see past a Derby win. Bet365 stats look very good too. Lots of possession 64%, 4 chances 2 on 2 off and 2 corners on 12 mins. 10/11 for the Derby win is still available.

  67. nathanufton 8 years ago

Against the run of play, Brighton have broken the deadlock. Surprising since its been about 75% attack from derby. I guess now we need to up our game a notch.

  68. paulcwn 8 years ago

    Come on Derby

  69. nathanufton 8 years ago

Derby back in it @ 1-1, Johnson from a corner. 2 mins ago, @ 1 nil down, the in-play price for a 2-1 derby win was 28/1. Hindsight eh !! Brighton have barely had much in the way of possession but they’re very quick on the counter. Johnson made a howler in the middle of the park to gift Brighton a golden edged chance, only for Shackell to save his blushes. Still think this has a Derby win written all over it, we just need to be maybe 5% better up front and we’ll win this.

  70. nathanufton 8 years ago

Burton now playing against 10 men of Gillingham. Still 0-0 but Burton win price has dropped from 11/5 to 6/5.

Derby have been caught on the break against the run of play but deserve to be back in the game. A derby goal and a burton goal which both have a good chance of delivering will drop a nice £96 treble in.

  71. Alves 8 years ago

Navas gl for City and Bojan for Stoke in 2nd half would set me up nicely for the late game after Cabaye scoring. Fiver on for £1400 at SJ promo

Is anyone doing indoor football…its a gold mine…i think the bookies got it wrong…7 games in a row ive gone for under 5.5 goals and I won on all….bookies taken goals down to under 4.5 …. after a few wins into the game its quite easy to see if they will score a few…get on it lad…its only 10 min play on bet365

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

dragoon, just back from my game. It was mentioned yesterday by a few.

  73. nathanufton 8 years ago

Hull winning, Burton winning, just derby letting my treble down… still time yet, Russell’s coming on for Weimann

  74. nathanufton 8 years ago

Hendrick on for Butterfield. Might just give us that last 5% we need to grab the points. This last 20 mins has been a bit limp from derby. Just something isn’t quite clicking with the midfield/attack linkage.

And Derby caught on the break again. Brighton winning 2-1. Typical. Just goes to show its not the amount of ball and shots you get, its what you do when you get those chances.

  75. nathanufton 8 years ago

Unless theres a Derby double miracle, Brighton will walk away with the points. Sad to say it, they played the game better than us, countered us twice and took their chances well. Just to rub it in, a late cameo for Bobby Zamora. 6.5 mins left + injurytime.

  84. nathanufton 8 years ago

Sad to say you were right Mr F. 2-2 for Derby and I see it as very much a get out of jail for the rams. From my own view, we were not good enough with the midfield/attack linkage with overcommitting when going forward thus getting slapped twice on the counter. I’m dubious of Thorne/Butterfield/Johnson all on the pitch at the same time. They’re all similar players but cannot fathom out between them who has what role and sticking to it. Hendrick HAS to be in the starting 11 so time to ditch Johnson or Butterfield and its time to put Weimann back on the bench and bring back Russell. Russell looked a yard sharper for the last 20 mins and Weimann isn’t as clinical/hard working. Ince has ALSO dropped off with form too. Maybe complacency or laziness, I think he needs a few matches on the bench.

On a plus side, Hull won, Burton won 2-0 ( 11/5 ) – I did tip it, and Martin got his 9th of the season. Yes it was a dubious penalty but after failing to net in 6, that monkey is off his back. We have a relatively EASY ( ha ha ) tie next – Bristol City – famous last words. 1 Derby goal short of an 8.6/1 treble. Typical.

  90. noodle dude 8 years ago

Thanks for the Aways, Mr Fix It. Had a fiver on it at 157/1, but cashed out for just under £350 as 3 of them were only winning by 1 with 10 minutes to go. Almost feels like a loss!

On to other matters – is it just me who thinks Manchester United are due a big win and that today may be the ideal opportunity to expose an inexperienced Bournemouth defence? In that respect, I’m tipping:

    Man Utd Over 1.5 tgs @ 13/8
    Man Utd -1 @ 4/1

Over to NZ for the Night Owl and there’s 4 Youth games – 3 of which should see goals…

I’ve posted a bit of info on each game and hope it serves as a good start point. Markets tight as ever so well worth hitting in-play.

Noticed Coral often have a better goals market but nowt on yet.

AUCKLAND CITY U20 VS. WELLINGTON PHOENIX U20 (12.00 KO)

To put this one in perspective, the team Auckland beat 7-0 last time out (Team Wellington) beat Wellington Phoenix 5-0 last week so this one should see plenty of action.

CANTERBURY UNITED U20 VS. TEAM WELLINGTON U20 (12.00 KO)

1st plays 2nd here, and based on h2h’s against same opposition, the visitors may edge this one.  I’m just interested in the goals though and both teams rarely see games of less than 4 or 5 goals.

SOUTHERN UNITED U20 VS. WAITAKERE UNITED U20 (12.00 KO)

Southern Utd have had some big wins (8-1’s, 5-0’s, etc) but have struggled to piece together any consistent form unlike Waitakere who haven’t dropped points in their last 6 games.  Goals, again, feature strongly although not as high profile as the other 2 midnight KO’s.

AUCKLAND UNITED U20 VS. NELSON MARLBOROUGH U20 (1.00 KO)

Best left alone IMO.  Neither team have managed to score any number of goals themselves despite being involved in some high scorers.

I fancy the Auckland City game to see the most goals and will see what’s on offer closer to KO but will also try a pre-KO Over 2.5 goal treble of all 3 12.00 KO’s..very keen on this and pays just over evens.

Good luck if you have a go.

    • HullShaker 8 years ago

Cheers Don – 365 should be in-play but they have pulled a few I’ve followed if early goals come in. Best advice is get on the markets close to KO as you can and get on the set goal lines as early goals are frequent! Good luck pal.

    • the don cossack 8 years ago

Thanks and great tipping hull, if this stays 1.1 all its cruel luck, given stats?! If it loses I’ll have to check why they are so behind the other games, they kicked of in time.
