IT was a day of hitting the bar yesterday – but unfortunately not in the real sense.
Yesterday I named all of the sides on my Super Single shortlist – Schalke away PAOK, Bristol City at home to Crystal Palace, Peterborough at home to Reading and Hamilton at Kilmarnock. They all won and I backed them in various ways – singles, doubles and trebles.
However, the team I chose for the Super Single was Orient who were held at home to Premier League Hull before losing in extra time.
The Top Treble was also beaten by one of the shocks in Scotland – Stranraer edging out Ross County 3-2.
I did warn it was a night of minefields and low stakes so I hope you paid heed.
Tonight it's all about Celtic in the Champions League as they try to claw back a 2-0 deficit at home to Shakhter Karagandy. I believe they can do it and have posted tips separately.
There are four other Champions League play-offs including Milan v PSV and goal-hungry Plzen at Maribor and that looks ripe for both teams to score.
In the Capital One Cup there are another seven fixtures and again it's about spotting the shock from ties including Accrington v Cardiff, Aston Villa v Rotherham, Everton v Stevenage and Morecambe v Newcastle.
The one match in Scotland sees Dundee United travel to Dumbarton and again goals could be on the cards.
I'd advise anyone to check starting line-ups if possible before having a bet as there is no doubt the likes of Newcastle, Cardiff, Villa and Everton will make sweeping changes.
I'm starting the Top Treble with an old favourite and it's over 2.5 goals at Maribor v Viktoria Plzen. The first leg featured on my both to score line and the Czechs won 3-1.
They tend to attack better than the defend and have netted in their last 11 Champions League matches. Maribor have nothing to lose and will push forward and have netted eight in their last two home matches.
I expect both to score again but will take the greater price on offer for over 2.5 goals of 3-4 at Titanbet.
Next up I'm looking at Watford v Bournemouth. The sides met in the league a couple of weeks ago and Watford won 6-1 at Vicarage Road.
I'm aware Gianfranco Zola will make changes but he has a huge squad and the players who come in will be decent and eager to impress.
Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe will also ring the changes but after conceding 11 goals in two away games will the ones he brings in be better or worse? Watford are 8-11 (various) to win but I'm taking a chance on them minus one at 13-8 with Titanbet.
My third pick could have been Milan, Cardiff or even Aston Villa but I'm going with Dundee Utd at Dumbarton in the Scottish League Cup.
United should head south in confident mood after a thumping 4-0 win against St Johnstone at the weekend. That should have kickstarted the season for Jackie McNamara's men and he should know all about Dumbarton having faced them while managing Partick Thistle last season.
I expect United to play full team and the likes of Gary Mackay-Steven and David Goodwillie could be too hot for the Sons defence to handle. Dumbarton have started the Championship campaign with four points from four matches which isn't bad but in five outings this season they've conceded 10 goals and must tighten up tonight to have any chance.
United are 4-9 at Titanbet and that completes a 5-1 treble. But remember cup matches can surprise and team line-ups are important.

5. Going for a handicap bet here and it’s a bit of a risk and it’s Notts Forest -1 @ 2/1 skybet
The risk here will be if Notts Forest take this game seriously enough but against a really poor Millwall side who are struggling so far this season conceding 7 so far it’s worth the risk @ 2/1.

Obviously for this to be viable we’d need 2 games with over 1.5 at odds of evens or better. But this system could be a nice way of making money on this market, with less risk, on these types of games.
Thank god I only put a tenner on those games & nobody else was awake and went on them!

Zhytlobud won 6-1 at home against their opponents earlier in the season and won by the same score line here last season also.

This giving an aggregate score of 34-4 in the last 6 meetings, an average of 6.33 goals per game.

4th tier of Finnish football, had a look for the league table but can’t seem to find it, if anyone else can then some info would be nice. OLS are 1/10 to win the match so this alone tells us they are a much stronger side than OPS Academy.

Breidablik are formidable at home, with 5 wins from 6 & a goal record of 17:4, their only defeat coming against top of the table Stjarnan. Afturelding are shocking on the road with just 1 point from 6 games, and a goal record of 2:22. Afturelding are the only side in the league to drop points against Throttur Reykjavik, losing 1-0 against them away from home recently

Did anyone take my derby county -2 tip at 5/1?? 5-0 final score. 2 for martin, 1 for hughes ( one to watch ), 2 for sammon ( can barely get a game now russel is on the goals ). Playing burnley saturday at home who kept beating us by the odd goal when they had charlie austin ( he’s gone now ), and derby are way better than they were last year. early gut feeling is another safe -1 bet on the mighty rams.

After recent ‘derisory comments’ on this page aimed at MrF s tips I had a wee look at other so called ‘tipping pages’ and this one item stood out, dont know if anyone else has seen this, ‘The £10 – £1000 challenge’ which is in a site called Free Football Tips : having looked back on the page i discovered that it is basically ‘Scalping’ (a betting method we discussed on here last year)….Well the outcome was the page got to a total of £36 (from £10) before losing….A bit of a shambles obviously…
Moral is ‘stick with MrF, bet what you can afford to lose and we wont go far wrong…..Keep up the good work Paul and all the great tipsters (to many to mention)

Mr F I am as of today going to start keeping detailed records of the btts the top treble the super single and the Saturday bets which is the homes always the draws . I will be more than happy to post the records on a Sunday evening when the bets are settled for that day for all to see. I will be doing level 10 stakes except Saturday when I perm on your advice . Is that something you and the guys would be interested in reading once a week then I could do a monthly also which would include the likes of winning streaks etc? Would anybody like me to do this as I follow them everyday anyway it’s just now I have a diary and I am keeping accurate records?
Danny T, at the end of the day this site is totally transparent. No tips I make are ever deleted and anyone who wants to look back at previous tips can do so. If you’re going to what you suggest do it from September 1 and keep the results for the full month. I’m fairly certain the singles and trebles will show a profit. Homes might be different because on a Saturday I put up five as that’s what Daily Record readers like. So far my record on the homes is one out of three – so a profit of £151 to £10 stakes.
No probs mr f I will start at the 1st of September and post my findings after the full month has gone. I know your site is transparent it’s the best tipping site I have ever come across not only yourself but other great tipping from many others . I was just thinking it may help some others who don’t have the time to maybe go back through and check previous tips. I agree though mr f I will just do a monthly round up hopefully someone will find it useful and I think it will help me with my discipline to stick to the tips and not add my own selections. The two key strikers are both unavailable with Lajonica overseas and Petrevski suspended. Milan look so shaky at the back you would expect the visitors to score at least once (highlighted by their 2-1 loss to Hellas Verona on the opening weekend of the Serie A). However, with their array of attacking talent I expect Milan to score (and win actually!).
Real Sociedad v Lyon btts – 1.72
Hosts have conceded in 11 of their 13 previous home games. Luons away form has been impressive this term, with two wins from two. Lyon should find the net but you’d imagine that Sociedad will pick holes in a team intent on attacking.
Zenit -1 – 1.90
A 4-1 away win and finished the tie as a contest but I expect an open game. Zenit have scored eight goals in their past two home matches, and with Pacos likely to come at them in a vain attempt to get back into the tie, I expect them to create plenty of opportunities on the counter. The most periods win just come from the fact that Poland are big favourites, although the bet isn´t as safe as the team goals. Never the less that´s 1 period for Poland already

Zhytlobud have won 8 out of 8 games so far scoring 37 goals. Rodyna are 5th out of 8 conceding 33 goals. They played earlier on this seson and Zhytlobud won 6:1. Can easily see a similar scoreling again today.
Very few markets just now but currently goal line is at over 5.5 at 1.9 and Zhytlobud – 4.5 is at 1.8. Wil see how it looks inplay.

Sooty last time they met Poland did score 6 but it was a competition and not a friendly. The problems with friendlies is that they don´t worry about goal difference, have less pressure and rotate the players alot. I´d be careful since it´s a riskier bet.

I´m going on the Hungarian cup game between Kunszallas and Mezőkövesd-Zsóry. Mezőkövesd-Zsóry is a top flight team although it´s currently on the relegation places. They score and conceed alot which is something we overs boys appreciate. Kunszallas doesn´t have any info so they must be bellow NBIII which is the last semi professional league, so they must be an amateur side. Going on overs in this game

Tammeka host 3rd Tier Emmaste in the cup KO 5.30pm! As with a lot of theses leagues, there is a huge gulf in class between the top division and the lower leagues! I like the look of this game as Emmaste are currently sitting top of the B league and are scoring for fun! Tammeka despite not being on a good run won 5-1 away to Maardu in the last round( league below Emmaste) and have a good record in the cup at home especially against lower league teams!

TIPS FOR TONIGHT
Just incase anyone is interested Mikael Lustig is 12/1 again with Coral to score at anytime. This is such a fantastic price. He was initially 12/1 but his price was cut to 5/1 and now back out to 12/1. He is as short as 9/2 and 6/1 elsewhere. Of course if taking this price then you may wish to have a small wager on him to score first or last @ 33/1 which will boost the return. I believe the 6ft 3 defender will have plenty of opportunities from set pieces as I see wave after wave of attack.
For first Goalscorer I’m going with Joe Ledley. Ledley has been in the media over the past few days and you can tell he is determined to get a result. Ledley also seems to score in these important games. I was thinking about Commons too but at 11/2 I’d rather have Ledley @ 12/1. This may be something that I will regret after the game. Homicide, i as a celtic fan am a bit biased but there is no way i could imagine them getting a draw or win tonight. Parkhead is unlike any other atmosphere on a european night, especially one of this magnitude. It could be another fun euro run this season and every home fan in the ground will be willing the team on to CL football. We dont want to be in europa. Every player and lennon knows their task for tonight and we should land the 20 mil winfall by qualifying tonight. If a 10 spots nothing to you and you just want to watch the game with a wee flutter then by all means take dnb but my advice is save your tenner…

Mark – I mostly do just few minutes before when the match is placed at IN-PLAY. I rarely go for betting in-play If I find value in bet and chances of getting it.

Just been checking some prices for the Meneiro game, 365 are offering in the specials 16-1 for Botafogo to win both halves. Now I know they are 4-2 on agg and Meneiro are home but Boto are 2nd in the league only losing 3 from 16 games. Personally at those prices it’s worth a little punt.

Athletico Minerio host Botafogo in the Copa do brazil tonight at 11.30pm! Botafogo are having a tremendous season so far, topping Seria A and won the first leg of this tie 4-2 at home against travel sick Mineiro! At home however we all know how strong Mineiro are ( think its one defeat in 57 games) and it’s hard to overlook them based on that!
They have a habit of needing to claw back 2 goal deficits in cup games having had to do it twice in the Copa Libertadores, Losing both away 1st legs 2-0 but winning the Home legs 2-0 and progressing in extra time!
Wouldn’t be surprised if both teams scored here given how well Botafogo are playing but I’m going With Athletico who are the master at winning games at home!

Don´t they like Chelsea or something? We have a new president who is indeed a Sporting supporter who is cleaning the house and we are returning to our roots of having our teams backbone based on the youths from our academy. The fact that we have no money also prevents us from buying has beens like Bojinov, Bouhlarouz, Oneywu, Pranjic etc etc. We started the league well with 2 wins in 2 games 5-1 and 4-0 but i think we will fight for the 3rd place never the less. The difference in budgets is abysmal. Porto 100 millions, Benfica 85 millions and Sporting 35millions. That´s the truth.
Hi I am a new follower to this site (last month) I really am impressed with the knowledge and consistency that Mr f has and continues to give along with a few others (sly the dane Greg the uht Danny ) sorry if I missed anyone out especially the guy who knows everything there is to know about Brazilan football think he must be Pele`s secret love child lol. From what I can gather Mr fix it does this for free and I have noticed there has been a lot of negative comments lately well if you can’t take losses that come with this game well you have to look at yourself and not anyone else they don’t press confirm bet you do . I rate Benfica highly as a football team. Technically one of the best I’ve seen Celtic play against in recent seasons. They also dominated Chelsea in the Europa final and were unlucky to lose that one in my opinion.
Fortunately they lost haha. Not very patriotic in what concerns Benfica and Porto. Usually root for Braga though. In the last years Sporting went to one semi of the europe league, Fc Porto one final win with AVB, Benfica one final lost and one semi, Braga one final lost. That´s why Porto and Benfica are on pot1
Sly, I totally understand that there’s no way Id support a certain other Scottish team when they were playing in Europe! Got to admire Portuguese football though for a country with a population only twice the size of Scotlands it has some outstanding football teams and players.

When i look at all the money the english FA has and how inept they are and how they are always losing to us makes you wonder. Also i absolutely detest Fc Porto and his corrupt president but i can´t deny the amazing work their scouting network do. I have no doubt it´s the best scouting department in Europe. Watch them sell Jackson Martinez and Quintero next year for a combined 80 millions.

Sly, whats your opinion of Balde. I have seen him play in a couple of friendlies for us so far but not been impressed with what I’ve seen. It is far too early to judge him though and Celtic fans can be a bit quick in judging new recruits. He is only young I suppose.

Balde came from our Academy. He was our “Peter Crouch” in terms of playing style. He would have never made it on Sporting so we sorta gave him to Guimarães and kept a percentage. I doubt he will make it at Celtic. Celtic is a big club and should be aiming for better players. Balde is a championship level player.
Sly, Balde didnt cost much and is a small gamble. Im presuming Celtic have seen something in him thats made them take the chance. Its the way Celtic operate now and we sign young players with potential from fairly obscure teams. Sometimes it works like Wanyama who was signed for 1 million from Belgian football and sold for 13 million 2 years later :)

I quite clearly know one (personally) who did very well for you guys. Thereeee´s only one Jorge Cadeteeeeeee, he puts the baaaaaaaall…
