IT was a wonderful Wednesday with three of my four featured bets coming up while I called all five Champions League games correctly.
My Super Single was Sunderland at 13-10 and for the second night running my Capital One Cup pick came in as they won 3-0 at Birmingham.
My Euro treble landed at 3-1 thanks to Arsenal, Bayer Leverkusen -1 and Malmo v Red Bull over 2.5 goals My both teams to score double came in at 23-10 and they gave me great pleasure as Bradford v Leeds and Athletic Bilbao v Napoli were the only main games that saw that market come up.
The League Cup treble was beaten but in the Champions League I also went for Arsenal to win to nil at 5-4, Alexis Sanchez to score first at 9-2 and under 2.5 goals at Ludogerets v Steaua. I have to admit my over 2.5 goals tip for the Malmo game was lucky because I expected Red Bull to score.
Either Malmo are magnificent or the Austrian league is incredibly because as people know Salzburg hit five or six goals every week.
My Super Single in the Daily Record, Athletic Bilbao, also won but I went for Sunderland on the site and made btts in Spain my main tip in that tie simply because the concensus today was Napoli would qualify although I watched Athletic dominate them in the first leg in Italy.
It can't possibly be as good on Thursday night, especially as it's Europa League night. Spurs and Hull are bidding to join Celtic in the group stage and while it's almost job done for the White Hart Lane men after a 2-1 win away to AEL Limassol and they're no bigger than 1-5 at William Hill to win.
Mauricio Pochettini's men blew away QPR 4-0 at home last week and I'm willing to take a chance on them minus one at 1-2 with bet365 if the Argentine doesn't make too many changes.
Roberto Soldado, who netted in the first leg, is injured so for a first scorer take England Under-21 star Harry Kane, also on target in Cyprus, at 4-1 with bet365.
Hull fielded a second-string side for their 1-0 defeat to Lokeren but boss Steve Bruce says he won't make wholesale changes this time. Yannick Sagbo is expected to start up front and is 9-2 at Paddy Power to break the deadlock.
Hull are 8-15 with Betfred and it's only worth taking if the line-up is strong. Lokeren have netted just five goals in six outings so an alternative bet is under 2.5 goals at 17-20 with McBookie and BetVictor.
Elsewhere there are some big clubs in action and the likes of Torino (2-7) should sink Split and Inter Milan are the same price minus one at home to Motherwell's conquerors Stjarnan.
And Celtic fans should look away now as Legia Warsaw look a good bet at 2-5 with William Hill to add to their 1-0 lead over Aktobe and join the Parkhead men in the groups – although hopefully not the same one.
My Top Treble in Thursday's Daily Record is Legia, St Etienne at home to Kardemir and Twente against Qarabag and my Super Single is Rapid Vienna who are 4-5 at William Hill as they try to recover from 2-1 down to Helsinki.
Henning Berg's Legia are now on a mission to knock Celtic out of the Europa League and they're unbeaten in nine if you don't count their administrative defeat to the Bhoys. The Poles crushed Celtic 4-1 in Warsaw and after beating Aktobe 1-0 away should follow up with another success.
St Etienne's 1-0 defeat away to Tursk Kardemir was huge surprise but the French can overturn a 1-0 deficit in tonight's return.
Twente were held 0-0 by Qarabag who have now failed to net in three of their last four matches so back the Dutchm who have drawn their last four, to edge a victory.
Legia have won their last five matches, keeping clean sheets in all five encounters. In their last nine games, they have smashed in 26 goals, including a startling 4-1 home win over Celtic in that controversial Champions League qualifying tie (Legia were thrown out for fielding an ineligible player).
For the site Top Treble I'm going with the same teams and will play tonight for minimum stakes as I've done on Tuesday and Wednesday. Add Spurs to it and takes a 2-1 line to 5-2 and add Inter -1 and you have a fivefold that should come up at just over 7-2.
With Serie A starting at the weekend Inter are likely to field a much-weakened side so checking line-ups might be an idea but even their reserves should be too good for a side with just four professionals and who still don't believe they knocked out Motherwell and Lech Poznan.
Other sides I've considered are PAOK at home to Zimbru, Rio Ave at home to Elfsborg, Zurich at home to Trnava and Bruges at home to Grasshoppers – but the more you do the harder it is.
As I said my Super Single in the Daily Record is Rapid Vienna at 4-5 with William Hill and anyone who likes this better my choice for the site should go with that one or their one.
For the site I'm taking a big chance with Lyon who lost the first leg at home to Astra then went down 1-0 at home to Lens in the French Ligue at the weekend. Lyon have started the season poorly with three defeats but there's in no doubt in my mind they'll win if they play anywhere near the best.
The pressure is off the French side now and Astra will believe they're through as their opponents need to score at least two goals but Lyon have won their previous three trips to Romania and the price is right at 13-8 with McBookie and BetVictor – and the odds are falling.
I've read a few match previews and confidence in Lyon is high so I'm willing to take a chance – but you don't have to and especially if you've been stung by French sides in the past couple of weeks.

Hull fan here, there’s no way it’ll be our full first team out tonight with us playing away at Villa over the weekend but having said this, I doubt Steve Bruce will make as many changes as last time and even if he does I’d still be all over my team if I was a neutral. In Belgium we created the most clear cut chances but was poor in terms of being clinical. We’re much better at home than away and this is one of very few times I’d be willing to bet for the Tigers to win, the place will be absolutely buzzing with the start we’ve made to the league, the new arrival of Dawson and expected signing of Abel Hernandez.

If you’re UK based I can take it up with bet365 – if not then you need to contact their customer services or alternatively speak to IBAS.
If it’s a case of you placing a bet and them paying you at incorrect odds then taking the money back after spotting it you don’t have a leg to stand on as they’re covered for mistakes.

Morning gents, Europa league second legs tend to usually be a bit kinder to us goal seekers with matches much more open, especially with the away goal rule clubs can’t afford to sit back and defend! Having looked at last weeks 1st leg results there are only 4 ties from 32 that i would say are over ( inter, Zurich, Panathanikos and Villarreal) there are 20+ matches that are either level or only goal seperates the teams)

Good spot footiefan but I prefer concentrating on the o2.5 and o3.5 just incase it settles at 3 and there is some sort of return on the bets. O3.5 is generally for lower stakes in order too remain in profit if its only a 3 goal match.
If your going for the goal line id concentrate on the Home United match as both teams tend too produce goals whereas the home team in the Albirex game don’t usually yield as much as Albirex do

Andy id definitely go for the O2.5 selection rather than the BTTS as it has a higher percentage rate for success in the stats columns but id recommend 2 singles and a smaller stake double. Ill also be doing the O3.5 singles and double on both matches
personally im looking at over 2.5 double and also an over 3.5 single for homeutd on singapore games. Can see goals flying in that one no doubt

Just a couple of pointers for those who like to do corner bets. Apologies if I’m stating the obvious, just things I have picked out having spent a few years betting on them.
1. Never back possession teams to get corners. E.g. the likes of Barcelona, Arsenal, Swansea etc. These teams do not like to waste possession so rarely will go down the wings to cross or take long distance speculative shots. They like to make space in the middle to score, which of course lessens the chances for corners.
2. Back the opposite to above. Focus on teams who have wingers who run and like to cross. Teams who for example focus on a tall target man. Also teams who have long range goal scoring midfielders. For example Real Madrid, Chelsea and Tottenham. These teams like to attack down the wings and will make a number of crosses for their target man, as well as having midfielders who like the long range shot…all of which gives much more chances for corners.
Generally the bookies will be clued up on this when they price the odds of the big European giants but it’s lower down the leagues that your own knowledge of teams will make you profit.
Hope it helps and apologies if I’m teaching you all to suck eggs!

Can’t see Tottenham conceding here so a 2-0 or 3-0 win it is for me. Odds keep sgortening on the correct scores, particularly 2-0 which has been cut to 4/1 with some bookies. I can see where Mr Fixit is coming from re Harry Kane but with Ladbrokes enhancing odds on Adebayor from 5/2 to 7/2 he’s the man for me. Arsenal left it late to bring up yesterdays treble, with Alexis Sanchez scoring in first half injury time to give me a return of £21.88 off my initial £10 stake.
For today’s challenge bet I’ve struggled to narrow my 5 down to 3. So I’ve decided to go for a 4-fold today. I’ve eliminated the Villareal game, as with them being 3-0 up they may put out a week team as they are pretty much through. The rest of the games on my shortlist are all close after the first leg.
The first two games both finished 3-2 so a good sign that there will be goals in the 2nd leg. Partizan have scored 3 or more in 4 of the last 5 away games, and 15 in the last 5, conceding 6. In the third selection PSV have been in great scoring form, particularly away from home with 3 goals in each of their 3 away games this season, 17 for & 6 against in 6 games this season. In the final selection Spurs have a good scoring record at home, scoring 3 or more in the last 5 competitive games (going into last season I know, but the squad hasn’t changed much in midfield & upfront from last season)

Crisis club Huddersfield picked up an away win vs Reading last time out, but Watford look better than both of these sides thus far. Helen, every website with links on it takes advantage of affiliate schemes whether the affiliate is a bookie or not. You’re obviously new to the site because admin have in the past put up details on how a free site, with big server costs and other bills to pay, can operate. They encourage people to use our links when opening accounts. It will never make any difference to my tips which are in the main published first in the non-affiliated Daily Record. I want as many winners as possible and will always post honest tips.
Affiliation schemes are just basically another tool for bookmakers to get more people to open accounts and then lose money. They are however required to pay the running costs of tipping sites etc unless a site is financed by people not looking on it as a business. It is the chicken and egg syndrome as they are inherently wrong in rewarding failure but needed to generate income and used by even Racing Post tipsters.

My assessment on tonight’s Europa league is you could look at stats and team line ups until you are blue in the face, the reality is we know little about these teams or the lineups and there’s only so much stats can tell you. My advise would be not to kill yourself studying these matches, keep stakes small and focus on goals!

cooldude, re your stats, you can’t simply compare leagues that way. You wouldn’t do it with England v Scotland for example. What you need to look at is the league’s UEFA co-efficient and that of the individual leading clubs.

Afternoon Guys, I am doing what I did last season in the Europa League and just backing goals in Tottenham games. Last season I kept putting up Jermaine Defoe to score. I will be on goals and a goal scorer again.
Tottenham play their second home game out of three this week and whilst they will rest key players for the Liverpool game they do have a lot of quality to pick from. The last time they face a side from Cyprus at home they won 6-1, I’m not saying it will be that and even though they don’t need to win, I think they will want to keep the feel good factor going down the lane ahead of the Liverpool match. Tottenham to score O2.5g is 19/20 Ladbrokes.
Mauricio Pochettini has again said Andros Townsend wont be sold, time will tell if the England man starts I will be on him at 10/3 Coral. Christian Erikssen and Erik Lamela one or both could be rested so their is every chance Townsend starts.
One player who will start is Harry Kane. Roberto Soldado is out and I think Emmanuel Adebayor will be rested ahead of the Liverpool game. Kane has been impressive in preseason and signed a long term contract with the club. He scored out in Cyprus and leading the line he could help himself to a couple of goals tonight. Limassol lost 3-0 away to Zenit in the Champions league second leg qualifier and I can see Tottenham winning by a similar score if not more. OK, so I had a look at the remaining Europa League games and nothing catches my eye with regards to BTTS apart from:

Dinamo is 1.75 to win so it looks like BTTS bet will be won if Petrolul score. They can definitely do that. They have a great away record (8 wins, 2 defeats in the last 10) and in the previous round with Plzen, they won an away game 1-4 after 1-1 at home. Just thought id post up my experience of the Arsenal game last night.
A couple of days before the game, I was on betfair looking at the various markets, and saw the over 5.5 corners market. The price was ridiculously low around the 1.05-1.06 bracket (1/20- 3-/50), so I put up a lay of £250 for a liability of £10 @ 1.04 (1/25). It wasn’t matched, and the last I saw it backed was at 1.06. I could have matched that myself, but it would have cost me an extra £5 and tbh I didn’t see any value in laying that.
Just checked the stats there. Total corners- 4.
So basically, I could have won £250, for a risk of just £15. Maybe this was a one off, and most teams would smash that corners figure with ease….but it might be something to look into in future.

This agegroup should consist of players born in 1995-97, but Stjarnan are really struggling to find players to play and players born in 1999 have been getting the start. Even the league’s worst team by far, Fjölnir, beat them last week. Valur are really solid with 3 straight wins in all comp. (one of them being 9-0 vs Fjölnir).

Disagree on Rojo and while Di Maria is talented he wont do an ounce of defensive work. Alonso would have been solid and dirt cheap but he moved club also. Would have bought Benatia , De Rossi and Alonso if I was the manager.
Alonso would never have joined with the Liverpool connection, he’s far better than Mata I think, Carrick is your defensive midfield maestro
