TUESDAY heralds the start of a busy week but of course there are pitfalls waiting for punters in the shape of Capital One Cup ties and some Euro second legs that are meaningless.
Arsenal v Fenerbahce is one of those tonight although surely the Gunners will want to build on the momentum produced by two victories.
That's one of five Champions League ties tonight and in the Bundesliga Bayern Munich travel to Freiburg ahead of Friday's Super Cup clash against Chelsea.
The temptation tonight is to daft and few more bets than normal but respect the card and play it safe is my advice.
I've taken the decision to leave out sides such as Arsenal, Austria Vienna and Basel who take away leads into their home legs so don't have to win. Legia Warsaw trail Steaua by one but this looks a draw to me while Schalke are capable if winning away to PAOK but their form suggests otherwise.
There will be a couple of shocks in the Capital One Cup and Scottish Communites League Cup but it's spotting them that's the key.
In England most of the favourites will rest players while in Scotland the tournament is taken more seriously as there's not enough money in the game up to dismiss the idea of a cup run.
For my Top Treble I'm starting with a Southampton side who let us down at the weekend by drawing at home to Sunderland. Saints won away to West Brom the previous week and while boss Mauricio Pochettini will make changes one of them is likely to give £15 million signing Pablo Osvaldo his first start up front.
Osvaldo's a class act and could fill his boots against a Barnsley outfit who were defensively all over the place as they crashed 5-2 at Blackburn at the weekend. Saints are 7-10 at Titanbet.
I'm completing the treble in Scotland and first up it's Ross County at Stranraer. County kickstarted their season at the weekend with a thumping 3-0 win over St Mirren and this was the Dingwall side of old – the one that took the SPL by storm last season.
Derek Adams's men make the marathon trip to Stranraer – at 540 miles there and back you can't go much further in Scotland – and it will be a hellish journey home north if they haven't won. The Blues are second bottom of League One having picked up just a point in three games and were soundly beaten 3-0 by Rangers in the Challenge Cup.
County, even if they make a couple of changes, should win this convincingly. They are 3-10 for the victory and that will do for the treble but I expect them to at least cover a minus one handicap.
Complete the treble with on-form Falkirk who should take of a Dunfermline side sitting a league below them. The Bairns have won six of their last seven games and weekend hat-trick hero Phillip Roberts is filling the gap left by Lyle Taylor.
Dunfermline showed a lot of fight to come back from 3-0 down to win 5-4 at Stenhousemuir last weekend but boss Jim Jefferies will be concerned at the number of goals his side are conceding.
Stenny, Raith and Arbroath have hit nine past the Pars and Falkirk will fancy some of that if the defending doesn't improve. Falkirk are 1-2 at Titanbet.
The temptation tonight will be to add more and more teams and that treble pays just over 23-10 which won't be to everyone's taste. However, the more you add the bigger risk.
One side worth looking at is Norwich who are 1-4 at home to Bury. There are possible debuts for new strikers Gary Hooper and Johan Elmander who will be keen to impress. Adding Norwich to the treble takes it up to 3-1.
Include Aberdeen, who will field a strong side at home to Alloa, as Derek McInnes tries desperately to give long-suffering fans a return to the glory days, and you are up to 4-1.
Sides on my Super Single shortlist included Schalke at PAOK, Bristol City v Crystal Palace, Peterborough v Reading and Hamilton at Kilmarnock. Schalke, however, will be without Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Jefferson Farfan and they'll be two big misses as they go to Greece level at 1-1 – and needing to score.
So I've decided to go with an Orient side who have made a superb start to the season and face a Hull side making many changes to the team that beat Norwich at the weekend.
Orient are a team on the up. They were the best side in League One in the second half of last season and have continued on that vein by winning their first four league games to sit joint top with Peterborough.

Mr F , these early league cup games are frought with danger as much as the Europa league is. I think this season competition though will be won by a big name premier league team.
With new managers at the big 3 clubs, Arsenal deseparte, to end their trophy drought, Brendon Rodgers and AVB making their mark on their respective clubs, and big teams in the championship, Qpr , Reading , Forest , Bolton , Wigan and Watford focusing on promotion, I have a feeling we will get an all premier league cup final and I wouldn’t surprised if it wasn’t two of the big boys who contested the final.

i agree with the -1 arsenal, think theyre 4/11 for straight win. wenger has too much to lose by not putting a good side out and risking it. I think he’ll put 7 or 8 regulars in and a few fringe players, then if things look iffy by the 60th minute, he’ll replace the 3 fringe players. + he will want to keep the winning mentality going and keep people off his back.
As we all know, in this competition we’ll see some shocks and strange scorelines due to the attitude/team selection of many teams in the top tier.
That said, I think some of the bookies’ prices on BTTS are ridiculous.

I’m thinking Bristol City may the chance of the upset tonight against Palace. Considering they were in the same division last year, and that Holloway’s record has actually been quite average, it may be quite a tight match up. Bristol City are @ 12/5 for the win on most websites.
bristol city were woeful all season, my team derby played them off the park last season ( which was probably the only team the comprehensively beat ). bristol went down because they were attrocious. Also, in Scotland, I may wait to see the lineups in the Queen of the South v St Mirren tie. Cup holders St Mirren have been poor so far this season and QOTS have been quite good. In fact, they have been in good home form, scoring 10 in 3 with a 4-3 win over Dundee. These two teams played in pre season with QOTS winning 4-2 as well. It may also be interesting to note that the last two League Cup winners have been knocked out at the first hurdle the follwing season(Rangers and Kilmarnock). Queen of the South are @ 2/1 on Bet365.
Cammy, I think there will be a fair bit of money on St Mirren. I’ve looked at Queens and my one worry is that Saints need to pick at some point or Danny Lennon will come under pressure. They’ve been playing OK by all accounts but lack goals and may of course find it easier against a Championship side. I wouldn’t worry too much about that friendly result but the stat regarding the holders is an interesting one.

Some times I lose money by differentiating but in the long run it’s profitable and allows me to mix in higher odds with value and spread out the risk.

Kuti, The Dane’s bets are all singles – it’s the best way to go if you have the stakes to do it.
Kuti – like Mr Fixit say all my bets are singles. If you want to follow all my tips for example today you only have to devide my stake on the tip with my total stake and then multiply your total stake with that percentage.
€93 (my stake on Austria Vienna) / €569 (my personal total personal stake) = 16.34%
€50 (your personal total stake on the five tips as an example) x 16.34% = €8.17
€8.17 = your personal stake on the Austria Vienna match.
It might look complicated at first but as soon as you got the hang of it it’s easy. And remember you don’t have to limit your self to my tips. There’s some very good tipsters on this site where you can collect bets from to differentiate.
I’ll be explaining my stakes later on.

Huddersfield are good value Tonight.
They’re playing Charlton who are having a horrible start to the season. Only win came against an Oxford side who made many changes to the team at the time which maybe cost them. They’ve lost 2 of 3 games in the League. Would have been 3 of 4 after being down 3-0 at home to Doncaster in the first half an hour before the game got called off due to the rain.
Huddersfield lost on the opening day to Nottingham Forest but from what I can remember they were pretty unlucky in that game. They’ve been unbeaten since winning 3 of 4 games including a 5-1 win at the weekend.
Huddersfield are 13/10 at William Hill which is the best price I’ve seen.
I disagree MrF. I´ve known Mourinho since he was the Leiria manager and he always gave importance to the cups. In 3 years, he won the league cup twice. Besides with a roster as vast as Chelsea´s i don´t doubt he will always put a competitive team.
Sly, I meant he wouldn’t be as desperate to win a trophy as say Wenger or Rodgers. Chelsea have a big enough to squad to go far playing reserves and I’m sure they’ll give far in the competition.

Been observing for a while and I think ill get involved today, hopefully i dont jinx it!
Nick it always depends on the specifics and circunstancies of the game. Sometimes i do equal stakes, but for example in the Latvian 2nd division i noticed a pattern of more more goals in the first half and specially goals after the 30th min. I did that call about three times on the comments section and they came through at evens odds. So when it´s Latvian football i adjust my stakes and bet more on first half goals. So the message i´m trying to pass is every football has specific caractheristics so i adjust my betting and stakes accordingly.
Oh and btw Nick im not superstitious. You won´t jinx it. It looks like a good day for you to join us overs boys. I already gave some indications yesterday about today potencially being a good day and i´m very confident. I´ll write some tips soon but there are other tipster you should pay attention to like Greg Browning, Reidyq, The Uht and thechief (apologies if i forgot someone :p)

It´s recent pattern on bet365. I think due to the high scoring nature of aussie friendlies, they started doing this kind of restrictive markets. I actually thought about betting on it yesterday but i can´t see value with markets like this. I would only bet in this game if i had close to 90% confidence. And when it´s two teams from the same club, the risk doesn´t compensates it. It´s hard to guess if they are going strong, if they are going gentle on the kids etc etc. I avoided and for now i think i was right. Even so i was rooting for the guys who bet on it.

But I must say that the Bet365 has a nature of market transitions in play and I used it to void the bet. As they first show goals in market and once we add it to bet slip and click on confirm then the bet changes and spinning wheel shows the confirmation. This happened to me many times. Now I used the same reason in 25th minute to cancel my bets in Aussie game.

You’re right Sly – the Aussie game should have been avoided as there was always the risk they would go easy given they’re all from same club but you live, you learn.
As you say looks like a good day for later on overs matches with potential several cup games and youth leagues.
I’m doing a bit of research on the Romanian cup matches so I’ll post if anything catches my eye – think most of the other games I’m planning on have already been covered.

Chriz, is that a statement or a question? My feeling is Peterborough will win as Reading will rest some players. Teams can score in any game really and remember Reading are playing a lower-league side, albeit one that’s flying but one that puts more emphasis on attack than defence.

This match caught the eye purely as a result of Voluntari’s recent results in the cup (league season hasn’t started yet) which have been 10-1, 9-0 and 11-2 wins in last 3 games. The reason I’m still hesitant is the first 2 results came against what I can only assume is non-league opposition as I can’t find any info on them
Of more interest though is that latest result, the 11-2. This was against a side which finished fourth in Romanian Div 3 Series 2 last year. Voluntari finished 7th in Div 3 Series 3 so the result does stick out a bit and perhaps suggests they’ve strengthened substantially in the close season.
Slobozia finished solidly mid-table in Div 2 last season so will be no mugs but it may have some potential for goals.

SCM Argesul Pitesti vs Universitatae Craiova
This one is a bit random and not a tip as such but might be worth keeping an eye out for. Craiova were disaffiliated from Romanian football in 2011 due to a contract dispute with their then coach going to the civil courts. At the time their entire team was disbanded and became free agents and they have only just been re-admitted to the Romanian second division and as far as I can tell this is their first competitive game back.
At their best they were a Division 1 side and reached the latter stages of European competition on the 80s but they will have an entirely new team now so who knows what will happen – they apparently have quite a big fan base and the team they’re playing seem fairly ordinary so may be worth watching in-play to see if they come back with a bang.
Bet 365 has them as heavy favourites at only 1.53 for the away win but I’d be a bit wary until it comes on in-play

Irtysh are 3rd bottom with 4 points from 5 games and have lost won and drawn one at home so far. Amur are second top and have won one and lost one away so far this season with defeat coming against the current league leaders.

Gorica are a solid mid table second division side who have had an OK start to the season winning their only home match 4-0 against the side that finished second last year. I can’t find any info on the away side on Soccerway which again suggests non-league (Soccerway go as far as the Croatian third division).
There are pretty extensive markets available for this one but I’m not going too deep on it as they played a similar standard team in the same round last year and only won 4-0.

Ok i am going to attempt something that i rarely manage in my dietry habits and that is pick a 5 a day plan, i will monitor it over the next month or so and see how we do.
The 5 a day plan will consist of a single,btts,over/under 2.5,goals,time of 1st team goal and a wild card that i will choose according to the days schedules.
PS most times this will be for singles as some of the bookies do not offer the same sort of bets at times.
1st up is the single and i am going for Burnley against Preston in the Captal One cup.
Having watched Burnley at home i think they will be hard to beat at home especially by a Preston team that have not won a match this season so far (4 draws) and i think Burnley will be to strong for them tonight.

Just had 10-1 at corals in store for ravel morrison to score first for west ham. Tried to be unbiased, as a hammer, but the kid has had a cracking preseason and netted well. Usually avoid the cup games but I feel the prem managers will be going for solid wins to ease some pressure and tried selecting teams with decent depth for matches such as tonight.

Ok. No need to mention Rosenborg3 and Mlada since everyone knows those matches. Next up on my list is womens sweden cup Kungsbacka vs Goteborg fc. Kungasbacka is a division 3 team and Goteborg Fc is a top flight club who is currently 3rd behind Lbd Malmo and Tyreso who are the best teams of the country. TheUht my friend i mentioned Figueirense because the odds are interesting. Figueirense win at 3.40 sounds good but what sounds even better is X2 Figueirense at 1.75. Trying to find more info but after changing manager and with a 3-0 win in the last game they must be motivated. Still thinking what to do.

Newells Old Boys v Gimnasia LP

It’s a game with an established multi-title-winning side playing at home against an overachieving newly-promoted upstart. Newells are heavy odds-on favourites, as you might expect, and our young pretender is Gimnasia, who are somewhere around 7/2 to take the three points.
I’ve struggled to get to a place where I can make a case for Gimnasia to win tonight, because, frankly, I really want to, but I just can’t quite justify it. But… it’s close. Very close.
Gimnasia are a team that’s started the season like a train with three wins in the Torneo Inicial (first phase) of the Primera A. Promoted last season, they’ve achieved two home wins and one away win, and they’re F6 A2. Which is some going.
The problem is they haven’t really played anyone that great yet, and their away record in the Primera B Nacional last season wasn’t that outstanding.
The second problem is they’re playing Newells Old Boys, who were runners-up last year in the Primera A, and Newells have started with two wins and a draw as well. Plus they’re top whack at home. They’ve won two away and drawn their one home match with Belgrano, who, admittedly, are middling/lower half material. That was a 0-0. However, Newells are F5 A2 overall, achieved in those two away games.
That goal threat will count against a team that won’t just come to shut up shop like Belgrano.
Gimnasia should carry on in the same spirit as their first three games, and they may even take the lead in the game, but I think it’s going to be a match too far. They will ultimately get found out/outclassed. Newells are a class act.
I can’t just go for the home, though, and backing to lay in-play is a bit complicated when you’re tucked up in bed next to Mrs UHT.
So, here’s what catches my eye.
In their 10 home games in the Torneo Final (second phase) of last year’s season, Newell’s were F23 A11. (Avg game goals: 3.4)
In 19 away games last season in Primera B (which doesn’t have the two phases) Gimnasia were F22 A15. That’s averaging pretty much 2 a game on the nose. Not great, but tonight we only need them to chip in one at best. And they may even not have to do that.
For me, a team team that usually bangs them in for fun, against an attacking, newly promoted side…
At odds of 6/4, that’s a standout 02.5 goals.

America RN’s home record is P8 W1 D4 L3 F9 A12
They are 20th out of 20 at home in this league and their only home win this season came against the very average ASA.
Meanwhile, Chapecoense are second in the league overall and best away side in the league.
They’re P5 W5 D1 L2 F14 A8.
They have lost two of their last three against Ceara and Bragantino – but these are teams with some form behind them and are 7th and 8th best home sides in the league.
America RN are 20th. Of 20.
The away – you may be surprised to learn – is very decent odds against at around 6/4.
ASA v Figueirense KO 1am
These are two teams who are completely unpredictable. I said above that ASA are average. Not really, they’re midtable, because they’ve not had a draw in their last ten – they win or lose in fairly equal measure.
Meanwhile Figueirense can beat a lot of teams, too, and lose to anyone. Can we trust either of them to win tonight? No. Can we trust them to draw? No.
But can we trust them to score and concede?
We sure can. ASA home: P8 F13 A12. Figueirense away: P8 F13 A15. Both well over 3.
O2.5 has to be the call – and it’s around 4/5
That double pays at 4.5

Nice one mate. Appreciate it. The general consensus among the tipsters is that there will be goals in the ASA vs Figueirense match. Perhaps it´s really the safest bet. I considered Figueirense win or x2 because i think Vinicius Eutrópio is a good coach and he will do wonders in a team that is the best attack in the league along with 1st and 2nd Palmeiras and Chapecoense. They have two good strikers and Tcho who was a very promissing player at Atlético Mineiro and is trying to relaunch his career. He just needs to sort the defence. And at Estoril he was known by his defensive organization. Figueirense was supposed to be fighting for promotion and is one of the clubs with the best structure in the Serie B along with Palmeiras and Sport Recife.
But there are other facts that make you wonder if your bet is not the best really. First ASA is a complicated team at home, they have a small ground and good supporters. Second they welcome two important players, Lúcio Maranhão and Didira. They come from a 4-0 drubbing against the worst team in the league. If they win this game they will move further away from the relegation zone.
In conclusion as UHT says the Over +2,5ft looks like the best bet, but i would consider small stakes for Figueirense win, x2 Figueirense and +3,5ft over.
I can’t call it, Sly! I tried… but either of them could do it – ASA have lost and drawn against poor sides at home, and Figueirense have failed to do the business away (and home) against teams they should be beating. I just think the goals is the way to go – 4/5 is a good price! Now I’m worried if the Brazilian tipsters think the same… ;-)
Indeed mate. I´ve seen some backing +3,5 and +4,5 ft overs but i think that´s too much. Figueirense is a better team than ASA, you have to read past results with perspective now that they have a new manager that has some quality. I think the team will click and do a final push in terms of the promotion race. The thing is knowing when the click will happen. Even so i will focus on your +2,5ft tip and only do small stakes in mine.

built a pot up to £55 from £10 today then just about blew it. few dud coupons earlier then £25 on fulham to win in extra time and burton score 2 mins later. stuck £10 on Fulham to qualify at 5/2 then last £11 at 6/1, after they equalised £20 on Burton to qualify at evens so guarantees profit. never again haha watching pens on 365 worst feeling ever but thank feck Fulham won :)

I have been studying the RTU vs FK Ogre match and i like the following markets besides the overs that i will take tomorrow. RTU HT/FT is at 2.20! Really like this one. RTU at HT 1.95! RTU or X 1.25 and RTU to win at 1.50. This game has potencial to be a very good one. RTU has to win with 3 games left to keep 1st place specially since Lerona/Rita is just 1 point behind.

Yesterdays 5 a day resulted in 3 wins and 2 losses so small profit but a bit gutted that my btts got stumped after the away team scored in 5 mins then the home team scored in 89 mins to have it disallowed.
