LAST week's trial was a reasonable success so let's try again with the Matchday live thread. With so many people contributing to the site with their bets and comments during the matches on a Saturday here's somewhere to keep track of the action.

It's somewhere you can chat with myself (when I'm not following my beloved Bankies) and like-minded punters as the action unfolds.

Tell us how your bets are faring (good or bad!), if you've any tips, team news or just gossip that might affect how others should be betting, or even let us know if you see an in-play opportunity while the games are being played.

This post will be what you make it. If it proves successful we'll give it a go again, so let's have your comments.

Just watched first half of Villa/Newcastle, and glad I left it out of my BTTS acca. Might be goals second half but nothing worse than an acca going down on an early kick-off.

Not a single shot on target for Villa the entire game. Am bearing this in mind for future BTTS wagers.

stagger, anyone on the ball wouldn’t have backed Celtic today. I and others issued plenty of warning about fielding a weakened team so hopefully they haven’t done as many you think.

        • kevin 4 years ago

yeah there was warnings and common sense they would probably be saving players.
me personality don’t like backing them when the play away as well.

I have villa game draw. Palace game draw and arsenal win for a cheeky treble . Put 36p to get about 9 pound return. So far villa game under my belt.

Sanjay, looks like Palace will beat you. Villa was my first of 4 draws but Barnsley’s the one that looks a worry at half-time.

do you still fancy Peterhead mr f? what was it that made you pick them?

steven, I said why in the article. At 0-0 it’s anyone’s game and Morton could tire after needing extra time in midweek. Peterhead were on my Super Single shortlist which I will try to put up next week and a League One “expert” I know backed up my belief in them

  10. Sanjay 4 years ago

Mr f palace came back from goals down with liverpool so theres still hope. Lets see

  11. Sanjay 4 years ago

2-1 to west ham. Palace need just one more goal and keep it that way for a draw and my treble goes on. Heres hoping.

    OVER 4.5 ARSENAL CORNERS 8/11 @Bet365

  13. daz 4 years ago

    Dortmund -1 @2.80
Langerak – Piszczek, Sokratis, Ginter, Durm – Kehl, Jojic – Aubameyang, Reus, Mkhitaryan – Immobile
Subs Weidenfeller, Subotic, Bender, Hofmann, Großkreutz, Narey, Maruoka

  14. stagger 4 years ago

I think I’m gonna have a crack at Lakaku 3rd goalscorer at 8/1 bet365. The way Arsenal’s luck is going (2nd Everton goal way offside) it’s wide open for Lukaku to pop one in.

Anyone fancy anything from european games ?

  16. nathan ufton 4 years ago

Jamie Ward scored first for derby @ 7/1 thats the first goalscorer prediction i got right,
Derby to win and over 2,5 goals @ 13/8 that came in, we battered Fulham 5-1

I had a moan last week after Mclarens team selection for the charlton game and he makes 3 of 4 changes that i suggested on the radio.

I also found £10 on the street last night, i figured in for a penny, in for a pound, I put £2 on a 1 team from each division acca and £8 on derby to win @3/4 odds. I have decided i’m gonna drop all the winnings on possibly a game a day and see how far i can push my luck. Not too fussed at the odds of the games i’m gonna choose but i will do some homework , will be looking for odds between 2/5 and 8/11 or so, so any suggestions guys for games i can look @ on a daily basis would be greatly appreciated.

Nathan, you put me off Derby and I even mentioned that in a comment before today’s game. How bad are Fulham then?

      • nathan ufton 4 years ago

I think Fulham have put all their faith in Ross McCormack, a big chunk of their team who were not competitive in the premiership have moved on or moved aside. All the teams that came down are struggling to adjust, yet the teams that have come up have had to raise their game ( wolves and albeit we beat them just – Rotherham ).
McClarens problems were evident when we played Charlton. He plays a 4-3-3 attacking formation, 1 of the three midfielders was defensive cover, the other 2x more expressive.
When Eustace ( who plays just in front of the back 4 ) got suspended for the Derby vs Notts Forest game the fans were crapping bricks because he was somewhat of a stallwart. ( Remember when i called 9 out of 10 wins towards the back end of last year ) – Eustace made the difference. It gave Bryson/Hughes/Hendrick the opportunity to fight for the 2 spare midfield slots.
Bryson hit 2x hatricks ( 1 against Forest ) and another 11 or 12 goals – from a midfielder !! So he was nailed on to start, Hendrick started to hit form – goals, so Hughes found himself playing a subs role.
Well when we brought in George Thorne from WBA and he was dropped into Eustace’s role in the Forest game, he played an absolute blinder, and kept Eustace on the bench for 10 games. The board went all out to sign him and we got him – but, he got injured pre-season.
Derby’s plan ” A” had gone out the window. Plan ” B” was to put Hughes in the holding midfielder role. It sort-of worked, but no disrespect to Sheff wed or Charlton, but we should really be beating teams like those.
Mclaren also kept faith with Ward on the left, Martin in the middle and dawkins on the right. I saw Dawkins in the Playoff final, maybe it was the occassion, or a bad curry the night before, – he WOULD NOT run with the ball at the defence. But Jonny Russell does, so why is he not starting ahead of dawkins.
Today, McClaren brought back Eustace to his usual role had Bryson and Hendrick in the other 2 midfield slots, Russel on the right, ward on the left ( ward got 2 goals @ charlton – his first goals for derby in 9 months – hence my 1st to score tip @ 7/1 boooooom. ) Martin in the middle, Russell on the right. ( I also suggested that Christie on the right back position should stick to being a right back, and not a wing-back because we don’t have 2x top quality central defenders )
We held our own, quite evenly matched up until we scored, then they replied. When Derby got their 2nd, Fulham imploded, they had to try something new. 2nd half, we carved them to pieces. It was like watching derby vs Forest all over again.
It is on the football league show as the featured match, I highly recommend you watch it.

I think now that McClaren has had to chance going back to his 2nd choice holding midfielder and it has worked, I do not see him changing much unless a bad defeat/player bans or injuries dictates otherwise.

A big big point to note for ALL your guys who like the both teams to score market. Derby’s central defence is woeful !!! ( why do you think we chain a midfielder to the turf right in front of them !! ). Keogh was brought in to replace Shackell – Shackell was part of the burnley side that went up – i wonder why. Buxton was brought for peanuts ( past clubs mansfield town, Alfreton Town, Burton Albion ) he plays out of his skin but he’ll never play in the premiership.

If somebody wants to do some number crunching, ignoring this season, the last half of last season, out of a whole season and a half, we had 12 !!! clean sheets. 8% !! it aint much better now.

I recommended Martin at the start of the season for top scorer in the league before a ball was kicked. We have Ward on 3, but our goals will come from Martin ( 21 last season ) – he’s also our 1st choice penalty taker – always helps !! he’s come down on the odds, but you can still get him via oddschecker @ 16/1
