IT'S Good Friday and where football betting is concerned it's not your normal Friday with almost full cards in English League One and Two as well as several friendly internationals.

Unfortunately for me it is business as usual as I still have two pages to fill in Saturday's Daily Record so my main focus is on that.

However, I'm ahead of the game so I've spent some time picking out selections for tonight from the English card – and totally ignoring the friendly internationals.

Last night I didn't quite make it. My Super Single was a double beaten by Ecuador surprisingly being held by Paraguay – and well done to Jordan whose 2 goal tip landed in injury time.

And I was a goal short in the Scotland game of landing the Top Treble – and the Scots were denied a stonewall penalty as they won 1-0 in Prague.

Today I'm going with Barnsley as my Super Single. They are clinging on to the final play-off spot and face a Scunthorpe side who will have to go for a win if they have any chance of making it.

That could play into the hands of Barnsley who have won four out of five while Scunny's only success in six was against Doncaster but they have drawn five of those.

There are loads of both to score tips flying about and my treble features one of the most popular – Accrington v Orient. I read on WeLoveBetting that 16 of Stanley's 18 at home have seen both score and that's good enough for me.

Add Shrewsbury v Port Vale and York v Crawley. The Shrews' last two have been 2-2 while Vale's last two have featured nine goals.

It's do or die for York who are seven points adrift of safety. They have go to for the win and that could lead to goals as Crawley are in decent form with two wins and two draws in their last four. York usually lose but can score.

For the Top Treble I like Bristol Rovers at a decent price at home to Cambridge as they go for six wins in a row. Add Northampton, who have thrown in some draws recently, but remain in great form ahead of their meeting with Newport.

I've decided to complete the treble with Oxford at home to Stevenage but it coul as easily been Portsmouth, Cheltenham or Eastleigh. Take your pick.

Remember to check out We Love Betting for their weekend tips and video chat – and I imagine they'll have a full Friday service too.

Nothing worse Mr F – been stung a few times this season with a team winning 1-0, thankfully more often than not they manage two!

That’s me off work now for 10 days so will have much more spare time to look at the cards

Have had a good look through tomorrow’s English – it’s not easy

A lot of games look good for both teams to score

    Shortlist is:

    Accrington v Leyton O
    Barnsley v Scunthorpe
    Yeovil v Carlise
    Exeter v Barnet
    York v Crawley

Stats certainly point towards the accrington game – 19 of there 21 home games have seen both teams net while Orient have scored in 17 of their last 20 away games

Will finalise and post in the morning

  9. Jordan 3 years ago

Split a few last night with Syria doing better than I expected, but Saudi Arabia never got going early. Supposedly two goals were disallowed on 365 in the first half so luck wasn’t on my side. Ecuador eventually scored twice after a barrage of attempts so pulled a bit back. Difficult card but I’m not that clued up on lower league football but I like the look of this. Colchester are seated at the foot of the table and really need to win this is they want a chance of survival against Doncaster who are also in the first relegation spot. Should have a good game here. Colchester as many as they concede, have the ability to score, drawing 3-3 with second placed Wigan and beating 7th placed Bradford not so long ago.

Oxford Utd host a Stevenage side also in a relegation battle. Stevenage have lost 6 of their last 8 and only kept two clean sheets in their last 15 games. Oxford are tied with Northampton as the highest scoring teams in the league on 68. Oxford also won the reverse fixture 5-1 earlier in the season.

Both bets crashed out tonight and it was a 2.5pt loss for the day.
It looks like I’m on the same vibe as Greg tomorrow, I looked through league 1 and 2 and came up with 2 doubles:
    Exeter v Barnet
    York v Crawley
    BTTS double 1.5pts @3.23

    Accrington v Leyton
    Swindon v Wigan
    BTTS double 1.5pts @3.15

I really should finish looking through all games before placing bets…I then took the 4 selections, did 4x triples and 1x fourfold all at 0.5pts..
So afterall, I could have done without the original doubles but hey ho live and learn? 5.5pts staked for the day.

Hampy, I like the look of Oxford / Roofe today – he netted in the reverse fixture earlier in the season. As you say it should be a comfortable home win for them today.

Oxford to win both halves is 9 / 4 at William Hill.

Good Luck all with bets today!

  14. thompy 3 years ago

Oxford look like they’ll be well backed and they should win. However, a few words of warning…

Oxford are great away but hit and miss at home.

They have a couple of key players away on international duty.

The reverse fixture with saw them win 5-1 was help via 2 red card for Stevenage.

Stevenage gave Northampton a good run for there money last week, losing the game after going down to 10 men.

Stevenage have postponed their Monday game so squad rotation will not come into play for them.

    • Mr Fixit 3 years ago

thompy, Oxford have players away on international duty but some are young ones who wouldn’t have featured today.
Missing are Jonjoe Kenny (England U19s), Jordan Evans (Wales U21s), Callum O’Dowda (Ireland U21s), Canice Carroll (Ireland U17s) and AJ George (Antigua).
Oxford can’t be too fussed about the absentees as they’ve chosen to play.

    • thompy 3 years ago

Oxford couldn’t postpone because below u21 level doesn’t count towards players missing.
Granted they are only going to miss two players, but that leaves them with no match for right back and also o’dowda who scored twice last week.

If you like to do a scorecast, ive only started doing it again lately. Landed it good few times an been in the past, right close several occasions last few weeks

Try(hardest bit) back a player to score first(Gutierrez) for the team your backing against(Chile) then 2 or 3-1 to the team your backing Argentina.

Forest Green to Win 1/2 -3 pts.
    Forest Green over1.5 TGS 8/13-1pt.
    Forest Green over2.5 TGS 2/1-1pt.

My value bet of the day, steadily improving Hartlepool at home against falling away from play off positions Wimbledon, with only 1 win in last 6, that coming against lowly York. Admittedly Wimbledon have come through a batch of tough fixtures, but Hartlepool are scrapping hard for points, and I’m banking on this energy to get them a result today.
    Hartlepool not to lose 8/11-2pts
    Hartlepool to win 27/10-1pt.

  40. HullShaker 3 years ago

    Afternoon gents,

Night Owl winner will hopefully be a turning point in form after a dreadful week and will pop stats up later.

My boys travel to Blackpool to take on The Seasiders with October’s H2H seeing us win by the odd goal in 7.

Blackpool picked up their first 3 points in 9 games with a 2-1 win at Crewe last time out and although we are slight favourites here, there’s every chance we’ll be vulnerable at the back – especially when you consider The ‘Pools attacking line of Cullen, Redshaw and Philliskirk.

Our 3 new signings are looking likely to play ( Goalkeeper Chris Neal, defender Cian Bolger and striker Nathan Delfouneso) although I believe Leon Clarke is out with a thigh injury.

I like the look of BTTS here (4/5) but fancy a few goals…

    BTTS & Over 2.5 goals…7/5
    (2.5 Points)

Sheffield Utd take on a battered Crewe outfit and I can see a potential mauling there – I’m taking a small stake team goal double with them and Oxford who should have few problems…

    Sheff Utd & Oxford…Over 2.5 team goal double…6/1
    (1 point)

Good luck with all bets lads and lasses ?

    • seasider cloud 3 years ago

Hi Shaker,I must admit I’m leaning towards BTTS for the match at Bloomfield Road today.

It was a decent win at Crewe for us – especially being down to 10 for all of the second half and then scoring our late winner right after conceding an equaliser.

We’ve had plenty of under 2.5 games at home this season but I think both sides will see this as a winnable match and ought to go for it from the off. Another 7 goal thriller is more likely than a goalless draw…

GL today and for the rest of the season!

Not a “good” Friday for most punters –

Of 11 games in league 2 ( 50% of the English card) just three games saw both teams score and just three went over 2.5 goals – tough day for goal seekers!

    • Mr Fixit 3 years ago

GregBrowning, wasn’t easy. I was one goal short and that from the game that looked the most likely.

Missed all todays action so have just seen the results. Shame Oxford got the early red despite grabbing a goal in the second half. Hindsight says I should have gone for Colchester Over 1.5 as a single :( Never mind. Well done anyone with a winner. Back tomorrow.

Gone for France win and over 1.5 match goals on pp at 3.00.

I’m from Mauritius! It’s interesting to play Rwanda tomorrow

  72. HullShaker 3 years ago

As Greg says tough gig for goal-backers today!

Blackpool v Bury…like the look of BTTS here (4/5) but fancy a few goals…

    BTTS & Over 2.5 goals…7/5
    (2.5 Points)

    Finished 1-1 – should’ve stuck with BTTS…Lost.

    Sheff Utd & Oxford…Over 2.5 team goal double…6/1
    (1 point)

Sheff Utd obliged with 3 team goals but a 20th minute Oxford red realistically shafted that one…Lost.

    UK BETS:

    WINS/LOSSES = 0:5

    WINS/LOSSES = 1:3

    Well done any winners today.

  73. craneguy 3 years ago

been a tough one today all round hull, been off crane duties today as been on hol got a bit of studying in hopefully post a couple of winners tomorrow concentrating in Scotland………………..

Ronaldo returns after being ‘rested’ in Portugal’s last two friendlies.

Their recent games have been timid affairs and I’m looking to see the Portugese gain some momentum heading towards the Euros. Ronaldo’s addition should add that bit of fire in their bellies.

Over 2.5 match goals pays 9/10 and may be worth a small punt.

    Serie b Saturday

    Como v Entella 2pm

Como sit bottom of the league and take on 7th place entella, despite winning at Modena last time como have not been in great form whilst entella sit 4th in the form table unbeaten in 6 and scoring at least 2 in 5 of those .
Como have not beaten entella in the last 5 meetings 2 draws and 3 defeats. The games in this league are usually close no matter what the league positions are so its not as straight forward as the stats suggest but @ bet365 entella are 13/5 for the win which I think is great value.
For those that like a little more security with their bets entella double chance is 7/10

Well worth a look in my opinion

Not going to be around tomorrow and with a bad card (not a Scottish buff) I’m going to chance my luck in the A-League. The Newcastle Jets are out of playoff contention and will be hosting a Perth Glory side who have won 8 of their last 10 league games and are looking to seal their playoff fate. The Glory beat the Jets 6-1 here in their first match up of the season and have won the last six between the two in the A-League scoring two or more in each contest. Andy Keogh scored for me last week and now has 7 goals in 6 consecutive A-League matches. He looks a good price @ 7/5 @ 365 to net again, but I’m going to be on the vistors to score two goals in their 7th consecutive A-League appearance vs the Jets.

    Australia A-league – 6:15AM

Perth Glory Over 1.5 Team Goals @ 4/5 @ 365 – 5 points (I have the monthly profit to play with so stake what you feel is necessary)

hi hullshaker hopefully plenty of goals

  89. HullShaker 3 years ago

    70% possession, 135 dangerous attacks, 24 shots, missed penalties and 19 corners…utter dog-sh*t from Portugal. Over 2.5 goals…lost.

Night Owl and there’s 3 games I’ve looked at that KO at 11.00…

There’s a solid chance we’ll see at least a couple of goals in each and a treble of Over 1.5 match goals pays 1.39/1
    (2 points)

Of the three selections, Batatais catch the eye away to a poor form Sorocaba. The visitors might look to capitalise on their away scoring record against better opposition – they rarely don’t score away from home and 2 goals look achievable…

    Batatais Over 1.5 team goals…11/10
    (2 Points)

    Good luck.

    • Alves 3 years ago

@hullshaker Portugal are horrendous, Watched bits of it, last half hr and how Ronaldo missed rebound feck knows. I checked aNd they’ve got Hungary Austria and Iceland, an easy group on paper but they could struggle to get into top 2
