IT was an action-packed Tuesday night but one that produced some strange results.
No one could have seen Blackburn beating Fulham 3-0 and the Cottagers failing to score beat one of my Super Singles.
Another surprise was Bury's win at home to Sheffield Utd and that was single No.2 down the drain.
My two both to score trebles saw five out of six sides scoring – Hearts and Altrincham were the culprits – and that's why accumulators offer greater risk and reward.
It was a better night for Jordan who saw both his bets come up thanks to Benfica's last-gasp winner while Greg's faith in Dundee United was misguided as they went down surprisingly easy at home to Motherwell. Their punishment for beating Greg's nap will be a place in next season's Scottish Championship.
Wednesday is much quieter with two Champions League games – Roma v Real Madrid and Gent v Wolfsburg – and Sporting Gijon v Barcelona the main events. I've posted a separate CL preview.
Barcelona play their game in hand at Sporting Gijon and should move six points clear Atletico Madrid at the top.
Bookies know it and Ladbrokes offer a biggest 1-6 on the away. Barca were sublime in crushing Celta Vigo on Sunday and a value bet could be over 3.5 match goals at 4-5 with McBookie.
I'm aware the last three meetings in Gijon have produced just four goals – two 0-1s and a 1-1 – but this season Barcelona league games are averaging 3.48 goals a game and Gijon have conceded 11 in their last six so I'm hoping it's more open than the h2h suggests.
Gijon – two points above the relegation zone – haven't beaten Barca since 1994 and the teams have met 15 times since then with the Catalan giants winning 13 times and drawing twice. Luis Enrique is on a record 30-match unbeaten run and would hate to see it end in his home town.
Goal-hungry Luis Suarez and skill-laden Lionel Messi are 13-8 with William Hill to both score. Both are 3-1 with William Hill to score first while Neymar's 10-3 with the same firm.
If you believe Real and Barca will win there are plenty of bets to take and with my Super Single profit down to 0.8 I'm risking going into the red on Suarez to score – he's currently Barca's most prolific marksman with 13 in seven games – and both teams to score at Roma.

A couple of hours ago Christiano Ronaldo walked out of his Champions League press conference after being irritated by journalists questions about his performances away from home, his relationship with team mates and why they don’t seem to bond as well as they Catalans. I’m a big believer in choosing the right betting market for any given match as opposed to the opposite (as many folk do) selecting the match and then trying to enforce a bet type. It just doesn’t work and it pays to be a little chameleon-like with betting habits.
Either that makes perfect sense or sounds like a load of crap…sorry if it’s the latter.
Often the best way is by applying an example and tonight’s Barca game is perfect.

Barca have only scored more than 2 goals away twice this season and one of those were against river plate. Only 3 of there last 9 and 4 of last 13 away seen o2.5mgs then there’s the h2h records.. doesn’t exactly bleed goals.

And since when is h2h not considered stats? 80% of the last 5 games between these sides ha e seen under 2.5, is that not a stat?
