MY main aim on Monday was to return the Super Single to profit and I'm pleased it was missions accomplished.

I fancied Leicester to beat Chelsea but put 3pts on the safer option of Leicester draw no bet at 23-20.

It was nervy in the end as the Foxes ran out 2-1 winners and I also predicted Jamie Vardy to end his one-game drought by scoring at 7-4.

I could have covered Leicester at 2-0 and 2-1 but decided to let it run as they moved back to the top of the Premier League.

So the Super Single total is showing a profit and the Advised Accas are of course massively ahead. I risked 1.2pts on a draws line on Monday but it was two out five and two others close so it was worth a small gamble.

It's the start of a tough a few days with Championship matches and European cup games dominating the card. Championship midweek fixtures are notoriously difficult to call so with WDW selections keep them to an absolute minimum.

Derby are the shortest-priced side at home to Bristol City while unbeaten leaders Brighton put their 20-game record on the line at a QPR side likely to still be without star striker Charlie Austin. If that's the case I don't see Brighton losing (8-15, Betway).

Second-top Middlesbrough entertain fifth-placed Burnley and many will fancy Charlton at home to Bolton at the other end of the table.

For cup games in countries such as Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland and France team news is absolutely crucial.

And remember in Spain you're taking about second-leg ties. Deportivo lead Llagostera 2-1, Real Betis go to Sporting Gijon 2-0 up, Sevilla won 3-0 at Logrones and Espanyol v Levante is tied at 1-1.

There are also four FA Cup replays and two games in Scottish League Two – Montrose v Annan and Arbroath v Berwick.

Leaders Annan shouldn't be as big as 10-11 at Coral – and that's been cut – at a Montrose side who have lost five in a row with 17 goals conceded. That's one Super Single sorted – and if you're looking for a first scorer consider Peter Weatherson at 18-5 with McBookie or back him to net at 31-40 with the Scots firm.

Weatherson is the Jamie Vardy of the lower leagues and has netted in his last eight matches – a total of 11 goals.

The only other tip I'm putting up for now is a Top Treble – Derby, Charlton not to lose against fellow strugglers Bolton and Middlesbrough to use home advantage to edge out Burnley in what should be a tight contest.

It's the day of the Daily Record Xmas lunch but it won't be a boozy one for me as I'm working at night – so may add some European tips if I get a chance to check team news late afternoon.

And remember to check out our friends at We Love Betting for their latest tips and video chat.

Anybody have any first goalscorer or anytime goalscorer tips for tomorrow’s fixtures?

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

cartywrighty, I’ll have a closer look tomorrow but one I’ve put up for anytime or first is Annan’s Peter Weatherson – he’s scored in 8 matches running and rumours Leicester are looking at him as a potential replacement for Vardy are circulating only in my head.
Only BetVictor and McBookie have odds at the moment.

Congrats Mr F on turning the SS numbers around! Good shout with Leicester too. Amazing what they’re doing this season but I can’t help but think the mirrors will smash and smoke machine will malfunction at some point next year.

Had a day off today as Sunday was rotten on the fitbaw for me. It was a good job Ajax didn’t score as Real Madrid couldn’t even muster up a goal against Villarreal.

Tonight takes me to Portugal where two sides are on the opposite ends of the form table. Third placed Benfica travel to promoted side Uniao Madeira who have lost five of their last seven and conceded 16 goals in the process. On Saturday they were beaten 6-0 by Pacos Ferreira, and it could have been seven if it wasn’t for a missed penalty. They also lost 4-0 at home against Porto a couple of weeks ago. Benfica will be coming here as the hottest team in the league scoring 15 goals in their last five and league the league in goals scored. Top goalscorer Jonas has 11 on the season and three in his last two, with Greek international Mitroglou scoring in each of their last two also. You can get both to score at odds against at various bookmakers. At first I was tempted to take Benfica to score over 2.5 which is a very good price of 17/10 with William Hill, but instead I will slide with over 2.5 match goals just in case the hosts can notch one for themselves.

Jordan, cheers – Leicester fans should enjoy it while it lasts.
They can’t win the league because the squad is too small and they rely too heavily on a couple of players.
But the longer the run goes on they could start dreaming of a top-four finish.

Salford and Grimsby both to score 11/10

    Salford to score 2+ 11/4

Predicted 2-1 win for Leicester in the record comp but after chelsea scored I’d won anyway, looking forward to a free £50 bet. Will it be sent out as previous yrs or just put in online account Paul??

  8. jackcfc 8 years ago

Well, it was 7.5 points staked on here and 6 points returned. The other thread is looking profitable and hopefully that will stay the same.

I could bore you all with my opinion of Chelsea but I won’t. In short we lack winners and some players need to leave. Look at the last 5 years of the PL the champions never buy and always lose out…this is just an extreme version.

  9. jackcfc 8 years ago

I’m just gonna give an opinion now. It’s better than evens for Chelsea double chance vs PSG. The game is still 6 weeks away, plenty of time for things to change. The only way for Chelsea to get Champions league is to win the competition now. The record in the competition is decent and it suits the way we play. If we can sort out who wants to play for the shirt and who doesn’t in the next week, with a Mourinho masterclass the price is good. Other than that, I’d continue not to back us….

other than at home to Sunderland depending on the price…because surely we’re not THAT bad….

Bet 39: Vitoria Setubal and Both Teams to Score @ 22/5 (0.25 units)
    Bet 40: Vitoria Setubal v Rio Ave, Over 2.5 goals @ 5/4 (0.5 units)
    ———————————

The next bet is the kind of bet that would maybe explain why things have been going wrong this month as its borderline. A win for either side would not really be a surprise as they are evenly matched. In terms of overs the last two meetings have gone over in 2015 but they do have their fair share of unders too. First and foremost I need the overs up to cover any loss on the win/btts and that has not been happening. On that count my strike rate was 63% last month but this month its a poor 42% in comparison.

This is a cup match between two sides closely matched in the league where the hosts today are 2 places and 3 points behind 5th place Rio Ave. The two meetings this year have both come on this ground with Setubal winning 4:1 in January before being held in the more relevant 2:2 draw here. That game showed how borderline goals are as it was 0:0 for the first 70 mins before 4 in the last 20 mins. Because of the goals in the previous two meetings I think both can score here and it can go over but odds suggest otherwise. I’ve sided with Setubal as they don’t lose many at home but in the league have only won once at home this season but like Rio Ave who have only won once away.

    Seans Supersingle

    Warrenpoint v Cliftonville { Irish lg Cup semi final}
    Btts @ 10/11 skybet.

Cliftonville are obvious favourites but very little value taking odds of 2/7 – 2/9 on this but Btts looks a standout price considering although Warrenpoint have been absolutely awful in the lg losing last 13 they have made a marked improvement of late…Well improvement for them anyway given they have at least shown a little bit more effort recently managing to bring up Btts in 5/6 games including scoring in a 2-1 defeat away to Cliftonville in November.Given this cup game gives them a break from their Lg woes i can see them at least having a go and getting on the score sheet against a side that are no doubt a cut above them but who they have always enjoyed playing against and always resulting in very close goal laden games, Btts has come in last 5 encounters and 7 of last 8 four of which resulted in draws.
Those looking a better price could do a lot worse than take Cliftonville to win/Btts @ around 7/4 but ill be happy just siding with the btts in this one. GOOD LUCK

Ok after some advice from the stats experts here.

My BTTS spreadsheet over the last five weeks has turned up (out of 10) 7,6,8,10,7 winners.

I’ve been putting two trebles on and overall probably about even but I feel like with those stats I should be doing more.

The odds tend to be an average of 1.6.

I could put on 10 singles of £10 each and turn a profit of £60 and only lose £4 if I get 6/10. Or I could put on 5 doubles and a max profit of £200 but worst case scenario if I got four wrong and they were spread over 4 doubles I’d lose half my stake. Which isn’t that bad I guess…

    Any suggestions from the experts?

Hi gregg, bad few weeks but ive loved you tips since i followed since sept. I usually turn your evens into bttsw and 80t90% of the time, using your excellent info and my own instinct, it comes home.
Also i go inplay on top games for bigger odds or what you suggested in the first place!! and i won’t risk it, on obscure leagues.
The risk for reward ? seems without using stats? Clear to me after 3t4 mounts. ! that it’s, better to go for 2 or 3t1 odds than evens or less, ?,! the first month I followed you gregg and Jordan it was like treading water, for me!!!!! as any other bets that I placed and if it lost, it ment, I lost the fun element of betting and just following your tips would! see profit. but unless your playing with larges stakes and healthy funds to keep topping up,if A bad run is hit? It’s like banking not fun?!
Question for yourself gregg ,and Jordan and any others like u2me today. That give ace reasons to a bigger priced tips, but play safe for even money shots or less?,!! What’s your experience of why you choose this way. Last week gregg, you tipped a team at around 1t4 on to be over 2.5 goals, I asked, if you felt the team at 20t1 could score?! I checked stats and played for home team and over 2.5 match goals at 2t1 single(big enough to back as a single better than your 4t1 treble!! it was, slightley less than the losing treble, you picked that week. At 4s. Why when odds are so high for a rag arse rover teams (i saw youve done it on a Swiss team at bottom v top and on a Scottish tip last month). Both won(last ten mins) but so did the more obvious home win and btts and win!! At double or table your suggested odds!? 90% of the time your bets come in and your reasoning suggests evens, even though 80% the btts and win come in at treble your odds. Id Love to understand the benefit, in your style of betting guys x

I’d be very surprised if you couldn’t hit greggs tip in play for well above the price suggested above, and can’t see any value in lumping on such a random outcome. Like I know a lot do?!
Poeple don’t follow a top tipster like gregg blind!! The bookies love it……….if greggs bets go below the value he suggests you shouldn’t just jump in , in my opinion. You will loose in the long run or risk an unsensible amount, to win very little.
Good luck all and great site mr f, it’s refreshing, people giving their time for free.

    • Jordan 8 years ago

I read this post and couldn’t make much of it until the last paragraph.

‘Poeple don’t follow a top tipster like gregg blind!! The bookies love it……….if greggs bets go below the value he suggests you shouldn’t just jump in , in my opinion. You will loose in the long run or risk an unsensible amount, to win very little.’

I can’t speak for Greg but I’m 99% sure if you backed every one of his tips this year you’d be well in profit. I for one have not posted a losing month since I started adding my points totals so you couldn’t be more wrong in my opinion.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

      Jordan, totally agree.
Everyone had a good day so far?

    • the don cossack 8 years ago

Am certainly not slating anyone, you post ace bets ,with excellent reasoning. But at times, like when gregg selected at odds of 1t3 on, with away team at 20t1! Why take less than even money, on such a risky outcome? And I know gregg and your post regular profit Jordan ,this why am questioning your methods. Ex …the way Am seeing it ,you can allow for a larger stake ?!! for a more certain result! (IE like the bookies are suggesting with btts usually say8t13) but my point is ! it seems in my 3 mounts that your absolutely selling yourselfs short and anyone blindly following(lots and lots do follow blindly jordan, thats why phone tipsters are so wealthy!). Backing odds on when it’s seems far more likely for both teams to score and the winning team also ,especially when they are odds on?! It’s not always the case though, like fulham game tonight, both teams look good to contribute.

    • Jordan 8 years ago

Because its football and I’ve been betting on it long enough to know no bet is a given no matter what odds they are. So therefore I tend to post smaller stakes on the bets that I’m just taking because I can, but for games such as on the MLS, I was putting much larger stakes. Its about confidence of the bet landing, not the odds.

Also if you check the other sports thread you’ll see I place much larger stakes on the NFL. I profited over 70 points just on the last two weekends alone. Much easier to predict and much less risk reward.

@gregbrowning having listened to the match momentary with derby, they’re still missing that linkage between midfield and the front three. Derby don’t look like a side that can put 3 past anyone right now – even Bristol, and Bristol have upped their game slightly, especially pushing Hull all the way – late hull equaliser.
Derby were also making some schoolboy errors 20 yards in front of the oppositions back 4 ( ball watching by two derby midfielders who should of been bossing there counterparts ) – Brighton hit us twice on the break and took both chances. the in-play match stats we’re about 60-65% in Derby’s favour, but it never painted a true picture. Yes there were a few Brighton goal-line clearances BUT Derby were just not clinical enough. Ince isn’t up to his usual standard, weimann has dropped off a bit ( maybe bring back Russell ) and martin had to rely on a penalty to bag his first in the last 7. If you’re assuming its going to be overs 2.5tmg’s in that game, you’re basically saying its going to be a 2-1. Way more likely than a 1-2, a 0-3 or a 3-1. what I have noticed though are we are a team that has long moved away from the tme when we’d comfortably put in 3 4 or 5 goals past the opposition week in week out. Maybe that last game, the boss was playing it smart by expecting a point, but hoping for a win, rather than throw the kitchen sink at the team at the top of the league. That could of gone horribly wrong. The late penalty for me was a ” get out of jail ” for Derby. Hopefully a wake up call too.

We’d set up very well and went for it from the opening whistle but not having Hendrick in the staring 11 – opting for three very similar midfielders in Thorne/Johnson/Butterfield for me is a worry.
It is also evident that we’ve been relying very heavily on Forsyth as left-wingback and now he’s out for the season, again, its another attacking threat we’ve lost.

I do think we should beat Bristol, certainly on paper and the way Ipswich have upped their consistency would suggest to me they’ll win their game too, however, Brighton facing a rejuvenated QPR under Jimmy Flloyd Hasselbaink could be a scrappy tight affair, Brighton might edge it but I’m inclined to think that will end in a draw along with the Middlesborough/Burnley game.

I Normally like betting on the Championship but tonights card is a weird one! lots of games that really could go either way!
I agree with Mr F in saying its hard to see Brighton loose but I also don’t see them winning,

    QPR V Brighton DRAW – 9/4
As Mr Fixit said QPR are likely to be with out Charlie Austin and for me they just don’t have enough goals in them to get the win here, having said that though they have only conceded 1 goal in their last 5 and at home haven’t conceded any in their last 5, not loosing in 7. Brighton are un beaten but haven’t looked the strongest side in the Championship in my opinion and away from home have drawn a massive 7 from 10! I expect it too be a tight game with not many goals and draw being very likely.

    Derby team news:

    Grant
    Christie/Keogh/Shackell/Warnock
    Russell/Hendrick/Johnson/Weimanm
    Ince
    Bent

I’m very happy with the changes, he’s made 3, Thorne, Butterfield and Martin swapped out for Thorne ( who’s had a patchy 2 or 3 games ), Hendrick in for Butterfield – More attack minded and Bent in for Martin who has been below par on his usual.

The boss has said he wants 7 points from our next 3 games, and I can only assume he wants all 3 tonight.
Its a drastic change, I think its 4-4-1-1 but could be interpreted as 4-2-3-1. This team is set up for goals and I’m glad he’s mixed it up a bit by dropping the butterfield/thorne/Johnson trio ( for me they’re too like-minded ). This formation SHOULD give Johnson the holding midfielder role and everyone else’s duties should be more defined.

I think Derby ought to get 2 goals tonight, possibly more and I would really like to see the taps opened up tonight.
An Asian H/C of -1 should deliver but give the safety of a payback should they not cover that extra goal. I also think the race to 3 or 5 corners for Derby could/should deliver too due to the formation.

    best of luck folks.

    • nathanufton 8 years ago

Sorry, my mistyping, Russell changed in for butterfield, Hendrick in for Thorne, Bent in for Martin. I think also, its the first time Martin has been dropped.
Bristol have changed to a 4-5-1, their first formation change this season. Bristol fans seem to think they’re coming here to park the bus by packing the midfield and grabbing a point. Derby are set up to go for it.

      nathanufton, enjoy the game.

  47. micky belfast 8 years ago

We quick treble for me , DERBY win , BENFICA win , ANNAN dc , 13/8 bet 365 3points

  48. andrzejstarba 8 years ago

Darmstadt are starting with 2 defenders who hardly have any game time. One has had 0 appearances this season whilst the other 3. Some of their midfield has been rotated too.

    Going for bayern -2.5 at 1.92 bet365

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

andrezjstarba, cheers – lunch went on a bit today so had no time to check Euro team news.

  49. nathanufton 8 years ago

Forgot to mention guys: Darren Bent for Derby who’s barely had a sniff at a start this season is on 199 career goals in all competitions. Its his first league start in ages AND he’s already hit the bar AND broke the offside trap ( wrongly flagged for offside 5 mins ago ). He IS gonna bag one tonight. He’s currently @ 21/10 to net at anytime with bet365. You just know its gonna happen.

Tom Ince BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM. 1 nil to the rams, well deserved. His first in 11 matches !!!

Also Derby 4-1 on corners, so that’s looking good. A derby corner and a Bent goal would be the iceing on the cake.
4 of the top 6 all drawing so far. Also, I have eyes on the QPR game against Brighton, have to say QPR look more likely to win it, although I have Brighton on my 4 way acca as double result along with a Derby win. The other 2 components of my acca have delivered.

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM 4 nil Russell.

  64. nathanufton 8 years ago

I can afford a QPR goal but glad Brighton have the cushion to keep my bet relatively safe.
Derby are still pushing for more goals.

  65. nathanufton 8 years ago

Just cashed out @ £143.50 instead of waiting for £145.03. £95 profit is better than it going pearshaped.
We now have +19 goals – best goal difference in the league. And then onto Ipswich on Saturday. Have to say, I’m liking this formation/selection.

  66. nathanufton 8 years ago

Derby 5-2 on corners, so that’s squared away nicely too.

  67. nathanufton 8 years ago

Lewis Dunk red card for Brighton. Have a feeling I cashed out at the best possible time.

Evening Crane, hope you are well pal – been a dull week and SA card poor overall though seen you had a winner in Jamaica last night you Red Stripe hound you.

My early thoughts are crashing down into the Bradford drizzle for tomorrow. BPA take on Lincoln and I see no reason that goals shouldn’t be on the agenda…Over 3.5 pays 9/5 and looking at that for an early shout – have a look see what you think?
