TITI MAKFI (4.35) can put a rare flop at Chester behind her when she lines up in the feature Fillies’ Listed event on Ayr’s second day.
Mark Johnston’s horses often bounce back quickly and Titi Makfi, who likes to dominate, could never get to the front following a slow start on the Roodee. She should have matters in hand turning for home and on her previous second to Ralph Beckett’s Isabel De Urbina in a similar Listed race at Goodwood, Titi Makfi comfortably holds Jet Streaming, Wingingit and Snowy Winter.
HELOVAPLAN (3.35) looks capable of defying a 6lb rise for his Thirsk victory last Saturday.
Given a clever waiting ride from Graham Lee, Helovaplan picked off his rival with a steady run down the outside and despite edging left under pressure Bryan Smart’s gelding was well on top at the line. Third horse Club Wexford re-opposes on better terms but I’m happy to stick with the top weight on this fast ground.
Smart saddles TIVRA (2.30) in the first division of the Class 6 handicap over six furlongs and his filly could prove a cut above these rivals.
Tivra would be very hard to beat if repeating her sixth-place run at Wolverhampton behind Richard Hannon’s Promising. Runner-up Tivoli scored for John Gosden next time, while third horse Hermosita landed some tidy bets for Roger Varian at Redcar on Monday.
