Alan Thomson's Racing Tips: Jungle drums sound at Doncaster

RUMBLE INTHEJUNGLE (2.25) has plenty going for him in the Flying Childers Stakes after a commanding victory in the Molecomb Stakes at Goodwood.

Showing a decisive turn of foot, Rumble Inthejungle had something to spare over warm favourite Soldier’s Call, a winner since in France.
Soldier’s Call took a bump at the start at Goodwood but looked to be beaten fair and square.

ANNA NERIUM (1.50) is enjoying a fine season for Richard Hannon and she made a winning return from a 65-day break, ploughing through the mud at Goodwood 19 days ago Anna Nerium will enjoy some give underfoot in the Sceptre Stakes and she has good form on decent ground, such as a close second in the Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom on Derby Day.

Willie Mullins saddles three of the eight runners going to post for the Doncaster Cup, with Thomas Hobson, runner-up last year, the pick of his trio. At bigger odds, the each-way recommendation is ALGOMETER (3.35) now he tries this much longer trip. David Simcock’s five-year-old has been lightly-raced, with his close second to Marmelo at Longchamp in July probably his best recent effort.

JACK REGAN (5.45) doesn’t mind yielding ground but Goodwood’s rain-soaked track was an entirely different kettle of fish as he got stuck in the mud (fourth) behind Escalator. Ian Williams’ three-year-old has done nothing but improve this season and should be competitive in the Classified Stakes.

TITUS (3.00) has been raised 11lb for whipping 17 rivals at York’s Ebor festival, appreciating greatly the step up to 12 furlongs. Declan Carroll asks Titus to go another couple of furlongs in this higher-grade contest but the four-year-old is on a roll and he goes well on an easy surface. This appears to be Just In Time’s specialist trip having twice scored over 1m 6f this summer. Alan King’s four-year-old was particularly impressive at Goodwood last time and has won on both fast and soft ground.

However, the bigger threat is likely to be favourite Walton Street if repeating his super run at Newbury.

Iain Jardine sends two fancied horses down to Chester and JABBAAR (4.45), a previous course winner, can step up on his close second to Archi’s Affaire at Hamilton.

Bacacarat is a skinny price in the 1m 2f handicap and MEARING (3.10) will be very hard to knock out of the frame if all eight go to post.
