FRANCE and Denmark landed lucky in Group C and there looks no chance of Australia or Peru progressing.

The fabulous French are massive favourites at 4-9 with Black Type to top the table and the Danes, 8-11 at Sky Bet shouldn't be too far behind.

I've predicted a couple of straight forecasts already and France, Denmark in that order pays 7-4 at Black Type.

France open against Australia and while they can be slow starters we'll get an idea of the gulf in class between the sides. They are a best 2-9 to win the game but I'd be happy with France -1 at 8-11 with Coral.

Boss Didier Deschamps has so much talent at his disposal, the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe, Thomas Lemar, Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante. In fact keeping everyone happy and united could be the major problem.

Griezmann showed his ability with a double in the Europa League Final and the Atletico Madrid star has a chance to top score in the tournament if the French go far.

Denmark have one big star in Christian Eriksen but plenty of others plying their trade at the top level. They need the play-offs to secure their finals place with the Spurs star netting a hat-trick against Republic of Ireland in Dublin.

With Eriksen leading them on the Danes should have too much for Peru and the Aussies. They start against Peru and are 23-10 with Ladbrokes.

Australia also needed a play-off to qualify and they struggled to see off Syria. They have many well-known faces such as Huddersfield's Aaron Mooy, Celtic's Tom Rogic and the evergreen Tim Cahill but not enough depth to worry the French or Danes.

It's between them and Peru for bottom spot and I'll take the Aussies at 11-10 with Black Type.

Peru were surprise qualifiers and will rely on experienced duo Jefferson Farfan and Paolo Guerreiro to help guide their youngsters. Must be aiming for three points against Australia and avoiding embarrassment in the other two games.

Recommended Bets

  • France, Denmark straight forecast (7-4, Black Type)
  • Australia to finish bottom (11-10, Black Type)
  • France -1 v Australia (8-11, Coral)
  • Denmark to bt Peru (23-20, Ladbrokes)

I’ve got a strange feeling for Peru in this one. Defensively well organised and on an unbeaten run since 2016. I think they can spring a surprise.

Let’s see if they beat Scotland reserves first.

Denmark are one of my bets at 11/2 to win the Group & 100/1 to win the tournament, not convinced with France they were pretty poor in qualifying although it is just qualifying and the actual tournament is different but I think Peru could be more of a test for Denmark

Peru are a bit of the unknowns but for me France will go well.
Deschamps knows how to get best of them at tournaments and as long as there’s not too much infighting their quality should shine through.
Like Denmark though and Eriksen can take them through.

Peru’s star striker Paolo guerrero is currently banned from the world cup.
He got 12 months for drug use but on appeal had it reduced to 6 months which ran out this month.
Unfortunately he took the case to the court of arbitration in a bid to quash the case completely but they decided to increase the ban to 14 months meaning as it stands he misses the world cup.
There have been riots in Peru as he is their talisman and without him I see them struggling.

Scotland play in Peru next week in a reprisal of Scotland’s glorious 3-1 defeat in 1978.
The Scottish Fa are up in arms as they are charging away fans £88 to get in, but if you can afford to go there £88 should be loose change.

Peru have got one of the best shirts in the world cup though the red sash is thinner than the 1978 version which is disappointing.

I bet Scots are still haunted by those cubillas free kicks, lol.

Yeah it’s a huge blow to Peru. Just read about that earlier with their rival teams pleading for leniency.
And yes we’re still haunted by Cubillas – Alan Rough in particular.
£88 isn’t loose change for the Tartan Army – it’s a shocker and remember this is the price for home fans too because if massive interest in the game.
I know Clydebank fans who go to all Scotland matches and it ain’t easy to do financially.
And talking of Clydebank our best strip was the reverse Peru which must be due a comeback.

There is no mugs in World football now . I am currently working beside a Peruvian guy and he says they are a decent side i will ask him how he thinks the group games will go but dont think they will fear Australia. As for playing Scotland think they will take care of them no prob.

If Peru aren’t in party mode they will win. Big Eck really struggling to put together a team.
Basically if you’re Scottish and play in the MLS you’re in.
