THE weather continues to wreak havoc on racing all across the country. My tip for Friday was a non-runner but hopefully some of you managed to get on the replacement tip, Swashbuckle, who won nicely at 5-2.
No jumps racing on Saturday but hopefully the racing at Lingfield on the all-weather will survive and although it’s not ideal I have a couple of a decent prospects that we can get involved with.
2.20 Lingfield
Quite a few runners here so hopefully most of them stand their ground and we get a good each way race.
ATTAIN is a course and distance winner and is only 3lb higher than he was for that win in January. Archie Watson has a cracking strike rate at the moment and I think it could pay to side with him here.
3.30 Lingfield
A good quality listed race in prospect and I’m keen to side with one who has rock solid form in the book. HEADWAY was 2nd in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot and 3rd in the Gimcrack at York in the summer both of which were great pieces of form and bettter than anything else on show here. Assuming he is ok on the all weather here he could make the current prices look a bit silly.

I’m glad you are back, but your winning streak coincides with complete change in way you tip. I know you will disagree, but pretty much all of last year you tipped long shots, first time out, or after long break, no hopers… You tipped horses that had no chance and most of them run accordingly, just to show that you can see what nobody else can, but it backfired spectacularly wrong. You managed to lose thousands (we never got to see final figure) and also to lose your thread.
Now you went back to basic and you are tipping horses that have good chance with much smaller odds and you are proving again that you are a good tipster, but this time in a correct way by making money to your followers.
Keep up good work.
I back big priced when there are some, I back smaller prices when there are some, in the last 25 years I have wirked on a value basis and have never changed
There is no difference from last year to this year or any other year to the way I select horses and last year I made a healthy profit as did many more people, you have to remember we now have shares in 14 horses, 8 of which are here, 1 in Ireland, 3 in America and 2 in Australia
You made a healthy profit last year? Shame none of your followers did, or yeaes gone by assuming they missed the 2 days a year you hit a treble, have some humility, alanthomson has really shown you up.
Well done for going back to your old style of picking winners Jonhb. But I don’t think having a points total of somewhere around -400 equates to any kind of profit and anyone can say they had bets they didn’t post but if they were that good why wouldn’t they be posted.

There was some strange picks in races and advised trixies at massive odds which I thought were “chasing it” as you were well down and “garuntee profit every year”
It’s not having a go and sure you haven’t changed the way you select your tips but I was imagining you sitting with your short list of say 6/7 picks for the day and advising the horses with biggest odds n not even EW most times. Think I’ve seen you tip 2/3 EW already this year and at 7/1 which was close 2nd and just failed to land the treble. Like Encore today.

I don’t like to see you criticised because I know how much effort you put in but last year you made a big loss with tips posted here – and I know that was the first time on here that had happened.
When you’re commenting on here you’re doing so to people who visit this site so you can’t say you made a healthy profit.
And by doing so you will get stick. That’s how it goes.
One thing Johnb did was post figures – and the final figures were posted too.
Alan Thomson and VoV don’t post figures and that doesn’t seem to concern anyone.
Maybe allows them to pick what they believe in – rather than pick something that will improve figures.

1345: At 8/1, CONSTANTINO looks likely to give us a run for our money. He has not ran in 154 days but has won a class 2 off 90 from a 4 months break, he likes the AW and runs off 91 today. This time last year he lost to Chevallier by 1/2 l but is 4lbs better off, he raced wide throughout whilst Chev had the rail from pillar to post. With 8 runners, he has to be an ew shout.

Deams of Glory ran a poor race lto off 57 and didnt look like he was taking it easy. The same 7lb claimer on board today, and down another 4lbs. He is 10yo and last won 14 months ago off 65. Paying 3 places but for me he is a speculative ew punt, on paper at least.
