TUESDAY’S a busy night of football even if many of the fixtures don’t float my boat.
Regulars will know of my dislike for early League Cup rounds in England while although I haven’t been studying the National League as yet best bets look to be Eastleigh at home to Boreham Wood and Forest Green at home to Welling.
No League Cup picks are in my top tips as the best advice is to back no one until you see starting line-ups. Some goes for the French ties.
That may be seen as a cop-out but even after reading as many previews as possible I’m none the wiser. We know most teams will make changes and it could pay to back outfits with big squads such as Hull, Wolves, Sheffield Wednesday and Swindon.
Hopefully some people will post starting line-ups and that will help but I’ll be working on a busy sports desk as that’s my holiday over.
My focus is on the Scottish Premiership matches – and I’ve posted a separate preview on Dundee Utd v Dundee and St Johnstone v Ross County – as well as Barcelona-Sevilla in the Spanish Super Cup and the likes of PSV at Den Haag in the Dutch league.
PSV are much changed from last season but should beat AD for a ninth time in succession.
Again the Spanish clash in Tbilisi is one that could depend on teams. Barca will miss Neymar while Lionel Messi isn’t 100 per cent but Sevilla have sold star striker Carlos Bacca to Milan and that’s a huge loss as he almost single-handedly won them the Europa League last season.
On Monday my Super Single wasn’t given much chance as Sergio Aguero started on the bench in Man City’s win while my Top Treble only lacked a goal from Djurgarden.
After much debate my Super Single is Ross County draw no bet at 5-4 with Ladbrokes and I’m risking a speculative one points on the County/Dundee double.
