CELTIC missed a cracking chance to top the table at Christmas but should be at the summit going into the Ne’erday Derby.

Neil Lennon’s side ended a run of three home draws by seeing off struggling St Johnstone on Boxing Day with two injury-time strikes.

Next up tonight is yet another home match against a Motherwell side who have lost both outings since Craig Brown quit for Aberdeen.

Celtic made heavy weather of beating Saints but the result should give them confidence and I expect them to take care of managerless Well. With Gary Hooper crocked the question is: Who will get the goals?

South Koreans Ki and Cha provided the answer against Saints but are off to the Asian Cup.

Anthony Stokes is 3-1 with Paddy Power and Betfred but one man to consider could be Paddy McCourt who once again came off the bench to give his side a lift on Sunday. McCourt is 11-1 at Paddy Power to score first or last and taking last might be the better option.

Celtic are a best 4-11 with Stan James to win while Well are 10-1 with William Hill.

Third-placed Hearts are back in action and look tempting at 1-1 with totesport to win at St Mirren.

The Buddies scored a sensational Boxing Day success at Inverness but like the Highlanders it’s on the road where Hearts shine with six out of seven.

Inverness have lost five at home and that could be six when Kilmarnock visit. Mixu Paatelainen’s men look worth backing at 12-5 with Hills.

Hibs face more misery when Dundee United come out of cold storage at Easter Road. The Arabs are a better side than Aberdeen and as long as they don’t take too long to get started should produce a return at 15-8 with Chandler.

If Hamilton-Aberdeen  passes an inspection I’ll be on the Dons at 2-1 with Chandler.

In England, Chelsea are simply too small at 1-3 with Paddy Power for anyone to back.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men are down to fifth and must win to stay in touch with the leaders but after Monday’s mauling by Arsenal I have little faith in them.

It’s in Bolton’s hands to shock the bruised Blues at Stamford Bridge tonight and you can have 12-1 with bet365.

However, the safer option is Bolton plus two goals at 4-5 with bodog or Bolton draw no bet at 7-1 with Ladbrokes among others.

Liverpool (1-3, Hills) should see off Wolves at home and Arsenal look primed to beat Wigan away. They are 8-15 (Hills).

  • Celtic, Dundee Utd, Arsenal

  • St Mirren 1, Hearts 3 (16-1, Coral)
