Final standings (settled bets in brackets): Mark £946.30 (16), Chris £1 (9)

IT was a roller-coaster contest for Chris Ford but eventually he had to Mexican wave the contest goodbye.

Chris of Stirling, for the second time, went all in with his remaining £1000, putting £399 on Tijuana to win at 5-4 at Jaguares and £600 on both to score at 4-5.

So a shock 2-0 win for the Mexican Premier League bottom dogs means Chris is out of the contest on £1 because minimum stake is £50.

Earlier yesterday he had taken the lead after putting £750 on Bayern Munich at 1-3 away to Wolfsburg. They made him sweat but eventually sealed a 2-0 victory with an injury-time striker by Arjen Robben.

But Jaguares have finished him and for the second week running the contest hasn’t reached the weekend.

So it’s well done to Mark who had three bets on the Bayern game, Robben’s goal winning him £525 for a £350 single on over 1.5 goals. But his £100 btts was beaten as was his £200 on over 2.5 goals.

Next up starting at midnight on Sunday is top seed Chris Guy of Alexandria against Cammy McDonald of Livingston. Should be interesting.

We need full names for this contest so anyone whose full name isn’t listed below could you please send it as a comment.

I posted up the rules previously but just to make sure everything is in order and easy to follow I’ve re-capped them below again.

  • All players will start their games with a mythical £1,000 betting fund and you can stake from £50 to £1,000 on any football bet provided Ladbrokes have priced it up.
  • Stakes have to be quoted as do all prices and they have to be Ladbrokes‘ odds. If you’re backing an accumulator please provide the individual odds as well the combined odds. Perms are not allowed. In-running bets are not allowed. And bets must only be on football.
  • You can bet on any football market provided by Ladbrokes but winnings won’t be allocated if no price is quoted. All tips must be posted before the start of the relevant event, for example by 2.59pm for a 3pm kick-off.
  • Each person must over the course of the week-long contest must place a minimum of 20 bets so the £1,000 stake is utilised. This is to prevent a contestant sitting on his pot. Minimum take £50.
  • Single or accumulated odds must be 1-4 or above.
  • You cannot copy exactly the same bet as your opponent. You can however include the same bet in an accumulator that includes at least one different selection. A bet can’t be cancelled once it’s posted unless part or all of the bet is a non-runner, for example a first-scorer pick doesn’t start or one game in an acumulator is postponed.
  • The winner will be the person who has accumulated most winnings, including stakes, by the deadline for the tie. But if one of the players loses his £1000 pot before the deadline his opponent will be declared the winner. Winnings can be staked so if your pot increases above £1,000 you have that money to play with. Stakes will be included in winning bets.
  • In the unlikely event of a draw in any of the tipping head to heads there will be a tiebreak contest to decide the winner.
  • All bets must have been settled by the close of the competition, i.e. by 23:59 on the Sunday evening otherwise the bet will be declared void.
  • In the event of any disputes Mr Fixit’s decision will be declare void.

Although there are prizes up for grabs please remember this is also a bit of fun.

Paul not being cheeky mate but have you done you calculations right?

  2. Chris Ford 5 years ago

    £1271.30 – 100 – 200 -200 – 350 +525 = £946.30

Unless I’m mistaken which is possible obv?

Reason I left the pound off was because the bet was saying returns of £999.99

Didn’t want to go over by a penny and have the bet voided for betting money I didn’t have

  3. Chris Ford 5 years ago

No problem, should be off at 01:30 UK time paul

Chris, nae luck with your Mexican team but if you put all your eggs in one basket that’s what could happen. I was surprised you didn’t keep something back for the weekend but that’s the gamble. You are consoled by a £10 bet from Ladbrokes and admin will email you about how to claim it.

Badham, it’s difficult playing with mythical money. You can take risks you wouldn’t normally take. For example I can’t see Chris ever putting £999 on a Mexican match.

Thanks Paul, yea that’s the chance you take with gambling. Tbh after Bayern finished last nite I wished I had waited. But marks bets looked pretty good and he was on a roll so I thought I was going to be well behind him with winnings and bets placed. Hopefully I’ll have some luck today with my real bets.

Well done again mark, and thanks for opportunity and the banter Paul 😉

    Cheers all

……and it’s true what Paul says btw. Playing with mythical money tends to make you do things that you defo wouldn’t normally do. Defo not as easy as it sounds……beware of falling into the trap of seeing good odds for a bet u think has low risk…..and then putting far to much on it because its not real money… I did lol.

£50 or £100 singles all the way.
