Latest standings (settled bets in brackets): Chris £220.65 (14), Cammy £350 (11)

IT was another day of no winners for our contestants with the Europa League proving an unhappy hunting ground.

But Chris Guy of Alexandria has boosted his total to £220.65 out of £1000 while Cammy McDonald from Livingston is on £350 after picking 11 straight losers.

Cammy put £50 on Luis Suarez to score first at 10-3 and two £50 btts accumulators that were both beaten early on by the Lazio v B M’gladbach game.

Chris’s only bet was £50 ew on Fernando Torres to score first for Chelsea but overnight he made £13.32 profit backing The Strongest at 1-4. And he won £106.63 on Gaz Metan of Romania HT/FT at 4-6.

So with three days of the contest to go who will find a winner and make a move?

I’d remind players to post bets each day under the new thread that will be created after midnight. Stakes and Ladbrokes price must be included and if possible potential winnings. Also number your bets if you can as it makes it easier to keep rack of them.

We need full names for this contest so anyone whose full name isn’t listed below could you please send it as a comment.

I posted up the rules previously but just to make sure everything is in order and easy to follow I’ve re-capped them below again.

  • All players will start their games with a mythical £1,000 betting fund and you can stake from £50 to £1,000 on any football bet provided Ladbrokes have priced it up.
  • Stakes have to be quoted as do all prices and they have to be Ladbrokes’ odds. If you’re backing an accumulator please provide the individual odds as well the combined odds. Perms are not allowed. In-running bets are not allowed. And bets must only be on football.
  • You can bet on any football market provided by Ladbrokes but winnings won’t be allocated if no price is quoted. All tips must be posted before the start of the relevant event, for example by 2.59pm for a 3pm kick-off.
  • Each person must over the course of the week-long contest must place a minimum of 20 bets so the £1,000 stake is utilised. This is to prevent a contestant sitting on his pot. Minimum take £50.
  • Single or accumulated odds must be 1-4 or above.
  • You cannot copy exactly the same bet as your opponent. You can however include the same bet in an accumulator that includes at least one different selection. A bet can’t be cancelled once it’s posted unless part or all of the bet is a non-runner, for example a first-scorer pick doesn’t start or one game in an acumulator is postponed.
  • The winner will be the person who has accumulated most winnings, including stakes, by the deadline for the tie. But if one of the players loses his £1,000 pot before the deadline his opponent will be declared the winner even if he hasn’t placed 20 bets. However, if unsettled bets reduce his pot to zero it will be a draw with a tiebreaker required. Winnings can be staked so if your pot increases above £1,000 you have that money to play with. Stakes will be included in winning bets.
  • In the unlikely event of a draw in any of the tipping head to heads there will be a tiebreak contest to decide the winner.
  • All bets must have been settled by the close of the competition, i.e. by 23:59 on the Sunday evening otherwise the bet will be declared void.
  • In the event of any disputes Mr Fixit’s decision will be declare void.

Although there are prizes up for grabs please remember this is also a bit of fun.

Can’t see either accumalte enough of the money for twenty bets. Chris guy can turn a £100 but fail to see how any will get 20 bets if cones to the death! Cammy should sit on pot and see chris guys to move until sat personally, if day comes would hit big single on my the full amount. No one is hitting twenty. Interesting to see tactics unfold.

Would be my thoughts if involved – good luck lads!

Seamus, could be interesting but Chris will have to win something from his next two bets to have any chance of placing his 20. Cammy is in the better position at the moment and must be hot favourite.

    • Milesey 5 years ago

now i’m not in the competition and have given my place to Muzza, i will tell you how i would have played it:

I would have turned the money over the 20 times in a day, taking the cards odds / evens market, both @4/5. so over 2 bets odds @4/5 evens @4/5 £50 on each, yes a loss of a tenner, but 2 bets down with a tenner loss ;), and would have done this over every game in the first day therefore getting in my 20 bets. Then i’d find some nice 1/2, 1/3 singles and just chip away making my money back up. SIMPLES !

        Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Milesey, I’d do singles too but wouldn’t bothered with the first part, just big on a few 1-3s to get some bets in.

        • Milesey 5 years ago

I’d treat it like a bonus first and i’d turn it over the number of times i have to, then i could cherry pick out the 1/2 1/3 and not have to take anything i don’t want to get the number of bets in. Soon as you turn it, you can just sit back. Like i said to you before, that’s how i would play a bonus that you have to turn so many times before you can withdraw it, so many people see a £50 bonus / free bet, and go for a big accumulator with it, instead of getting something out of it.

MIlesey, that’s your contest set for 4.55pm. Anyone interested entries will open at 5pm on Friday.

  2. Seamus 5 years ago

Definitely Paul! Don’t get me wrong we have saw him many time chris turns it but If I was cammy I would even wait to Sunday on betting just to see how chris returns. Suppose not in faith of competition but saying that everyone is about winning! No prizes for second personally

  3. Bryan 5 years ago

Chris will obviously lump on a random first scorer. He may get lucky but it’s far more likely it’ll lose.

Cammy would be as well sitting tight and hopefully watch Chris blow his money.

As Seamus says, it’s unlikely any of them will be able to make 20 bets anyway.

  4. Chris Guy 5 years ago

Bet 13) – the strongest vs club petrolero (kicking off in 15 mins ha ha. £50.66 on The Strongest to win in 90 mins @ 1/4 which returns £63.32

    Every little helps…….

  5. Chris Guy 5 years ago

Tried to build enough for 3 x £50 bets

  6. Seamus 5 years ago

That’s it Bryan none if ghe two hitting 20 bets. But in saying chris could hit the big time and blow cammy out the water with bigger money in end. Worth the risk in waiting to lump on Sunday if I was cammy right enough. Competition has not seen someone win without a knock out yet.

However, look forward to the outcome and wish the best to both!

  7. Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
    Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Chris, it’s not a draw if Cammy doesn’t make 20 bets. Only a draw if you both finish on zero. if you hit zero and he hasn’t placed 20 bets he wins, same as the first two ties.

  8. Craig alves 5 years ago

what happens if both players still have money but haven’t placed 20 bets???? both disqualified as that would make the 20 bet min pointless if the player with the most money goes through

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
      Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Craig, we’d look at that but I can’t anyone allowing that to happen. We can’t disqualify both as we need a winner. If it somehow happened there would be a tiebreaker to see who goes through.

  9. Seamus 5 years ago

Interesting stuff wonder if that reasoning would have changed previous players tactics. Nonetheless good watch and enjoy seeing the head to heads every week.

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
      Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Seamus, I think the players should play the pot and not the opponent, just try to build slowly at the start and see where they stand. Right, I’m off, Chris may have a small win in the morning with The Strongest leading 1-0.

Dutch Jupiler league will be good for goals tomorrow….

  11. Craig alves 5 years ago

I know what I’m gonna do and watching the weeks play out nothings changed it, steady betting throughout to keep the wknd interesting

  12. Seamus 5 years ago

Said that previous Paul – not in the spirit of the comp but lets be honest mate who plays to lose. I hate losing monopoly, I spy – whatever! All about the winning personally. I used to hate the da speech “it’s the taking part that counts son” naw its no a played to win/succeed. Too competitive, then so be

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
      Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Seamus, no one wants to keep losing but there is more to football than winning when you’re talking about 10 year olds. I see it all the time, the boys who are coached properly just now will be better players. The ones who are taught just to win won’t develop as well. It was drummed into me when I did my first badge that winning shouldn’t become vital until kids are about 15 or 16 and when they’ve stopped growing too. A lot of kids who are the best at 10 only stand out because they are bigger or can kick a ball harder but that evens itself out as they get older.

Muzza, u better hope Chris doesn’t make it through and draws you if you win in the next round. As I said to John we don’t need to be critical of each other, we’re all trying to beat bookies.

      • MUZZA 5 years ago

Just a bit of fun Mr F – it was Chris who was giving it the big one not me – “I will take you on with a half kitty of £500″ was his challenge to me! On that basis I think I would have been through by Tuesday!!

        Hahahahaha hahahaha

      Mr Fixit 5 years ago

John g, we already said we know who Big Jock is and Milesey also exposed him. He won’t be back – although in reality he’s still here. As far as digging up Chris there’s no need. We all do our bets and have our own ways but don’t need slag each other. And he’s proved many times to me that the high stakes he claims on first scorers are what he places.

      • Sean Ireland 5 years ago

Indeed he had his kilt pulled down by milesey and mrfixit and had his sporan exposed for all to see,so he cant come back.

  15. john g 5 years ago

Chris guy isnae a tipster, he’d bankrupt ye in nae time. He’s down thousands in the last few months, on sayin that I reckon you could take the zeros off all his bets and it would be closer to what he really does, the odd pound or fiver here or there

  16. Chris Guy 5 years ago

Thanks Muzza and John G 😉

  17. Chris Guy 5 years ago

John G I’m actually up a couple if grand over the past few months so maybe you can’t do your sums? Just on Tue I got £1000 back on Ambrose albeit I lost a couple of hindered. Around £700 profit that night.

Muzza I’m not a loser I had £50.66 on a 1/4 shot and it won no bother.

Perhaps both of you can cash in on my success and back Ledley to score anytime @ 6/1 on Sumday :-)

    Don’t be haters.

  18. h0tsh0t87 5 years ago

i dont know who this john g is but he seems to be a guy trying to cause trouble and dispute putting other tipsters down . This competition is meant to be competivite and fun . I am not in the competition but enjoy reading the updates and seeing how it turns out

So john g all i can say is stop putting other tipsters down and keep your negative comments to yourself

Milesey, I’m deleting them because they’re nonsense. Fed up with people having stupid arguments and I’m sure other people are too. So what if Chris has struggled in the game, it’s just a game. And no we’re not related.

      • Milesey 5 years ago

Mr F , you read his bets on here, the bets that hardly ever come in, so is it any wonder really he has “struggled” in the contest ?. I wouldn’t call it a struggle for him, i would call it totally out of his depth to be honest with you, just goes to show 😉

    • Milesey 5 years ago

It’s not strong at all, and i totally agree with the bloke, for what does Mr Guy bring to this site ? and why do you constantly defend the bloke and stick up for him all the time ? everyone elses posts always get deleted when there is an argument on here but you never delete anything he ever says….. your not a blind man surely ? you see his bets/tips whatever you can call them, he gets one up a week and says he is in massive profit, really ? the bloke is thick in my eyes and many others, but in your eyes he is god.

Milesey, Chris doesn’t need to bring anything to the site but I do. He’s a visitor like thousands of others. His tips are his tips, they’re put up by a punter and people can take them or leave them. What brings nothing to the site is petty squabbling. And I do delete comments of his – you don’t see them because they’re deleted.

        • Milesey 5 years ago

Why is he in this competition then ?

Danny top bloke, have made quite abit of money on his tips, great Doubles in the A-League.

Craig Alves, always very realistic in his tips he puts up, good on the horses and his football.

Chris Guy ? good at losing you money if you follow his tips/bets 😉 😉

Milesey, this is my last word then I’m deleting everything else on the subject. I don’t have time for this. Why’s he in the contest? Same reason you were in it before you pulled out – was one of the four top posters. And the other were picked at random using lottery numbers. It’s a fun contest remember – that’s all it is.
PS. Danny puts up good tips and bad ones same as everyone else and he didn’t do well in the contest either.

I think mr f should set up a charity boxing match with both chris guy and milesey, that would be a far more interesting competition! And finally put an end to the draining squabble

  50. john g 5 years ago

I’m no a tipster Mr fixit, I don’t think there’s any malice intended towards Chris guy, I just think he needs a wee reality check every now and then just to keep him on his toes, its just because I really don’t fancy anything he puts up here it just seems a waste of money. But as you say he has as much right as anyone to post here so ill leave it at that and won’t post anything else under this thread about it.

  51. Danny 5 years ago

a would read them Chris but I think there all trashed would be good if You and Milesey could get along I personally enjoy both of use on the site a like your goalscorer bets and with Mileseys horse knowledge Im on the verge of gettin in to it(Probably a bad idea as I could very easily get carried away)

Thanks for the compliment Milesey Ive not been doing any Oz tips cause I hate when they lose and end up lookin like an arse on the other hand Saturday morning uk time 06.30 and 8.45 to fixtures

Sydney wanders at home to Perth who are shocking away from home lost 8 of there last 10 away games most of them without a fight getting beat – 0 then you look a Sydney and see they have won 8 of there last 10 games there home forms not overley convincing but they should beat my citys team and go top of the league for 90 mins which takes me to 08.45 although slightly better away from home Melbourne shouldnt pose to many threats to a central coast team who have won 9 out of 10 last home games and drawing 1 my prediction the 2 eventual grand finalist teams to win and win well

(even though the statistics point to easy home wins the league/standard is dodgy at times and can and does through up mad results)

It’s actually getting really tiresome coming here and seeing all the kak getting posted on the threads that are meant to be about peoples bets, u have to trawl thru copius amounts of rubbish to see everyones thoughts or picks.

I suggest to admin setup a rant room for anyone that wants to vent there displeasure with something or someone so we all do not have to trawl thru the rubbish that is hogging up the threads.

Lay Peterborough to beat Birmingham @ 2.4
Since appearing to be dead and buried leading into the festive period, Peterborough deserve huge credit for lifting themselves off the bottom of the Championship. It’s now just two losses in their last ten league games for the Posh, who are on a four-game unbeaten run heading into this collision with Birmingham. However, a closer look at the form book shows that the Blues are not likely to roll over as easily as their last opponents Millwall. Admittedly, Lee Clark will not be happy with the number of recent victories – two in their last nine league games – though just the one loss in the most recent seven indicates some steeliness at least. Birmingham also won the return fixture in September and haven’t lost in any of the last six encounters with their hosts.

Lay Brentford to beat Walsall @ 1.85
Only two places separate Brentford from Saturday’s visitors to Griffin Park, with Walsall sitting in ninth place in League One. A storming surge had propelled the Bees up as high as second before Christmas, though Uwe Rosler’s side have seemingly lost their way in 2013, picking up just two wins in their last eight League One outings, resulting in a slide out of the play-off places altogether. Chiefly to blame was that FA Cup run, which saw the League One side play out a draining replay with west London rivals Chelsea. Walsall’s rise up the table however has been meteoritic, with the Saddlers winning eight of their last 11 games ahead of this trip south. The sides drew 2-2 earlier in the season and, given Walsall’s current form, it’s too tempting a price to lay.

Lay Dagenham and Redbridge to beat AFC Wimbledon @ 2.08
With things so tight at the bottom of League Two, current basement boys AFC Wimbledon know a victory across south London could catapult them as many as four places up the table if other results go their way. The signs are positive too, given their hosts Dagenham have been in obliging mood in recent times, losing three of their last five league games and winning just once in that sequence. Conversely, the Wombles have only succumbed to defeat twice in their last seven League Two matches and will be confident that they can at least secure a point to aid their survival cause. The teams played out a very evenly matched 2-2 earlier in the season.

          Middlesbrough v Millwall
          Saturday 23rd February
          17.20 GMT

Boro’s recent poor run means they are available at 2.08, which is an attractive price for a side who, have won 11 times at home this season. Millwall’s confidence is no doubt fragile after those five losses and they will likely have one of the smallest travelling contingents of supporters at the Riverside all season so everything should be in the home side’s favour. Mowbray will have left his side in no doubt that if they have genuine promotion aspirations they simply have to get their campaign back on track here and I can’t see beyond a home win.

Back Boro to win at 2.08

            Italy v Wales

The Italians enjoyed the perfect start to the competition with their remarkable win over France at home but they failed to back this up as they were well beaten in Scotland. Italy do not seem to be able to put any consistency together, but are a very difficult team to beat in front of their own fans. The side have not lost by more than eight points at home for four years in the Six Nations and two scalps over the French demonstrate their capabilities.

Wales did not play with any real fluency in France but did manage a priceless win which ended a run of eight consecutive defeats. Perhaps this will mark the turning point for last year’s Grand Slam champions but I am not convinced. Interim coach Rob Howley knows this will be another potential banana skin for his side and they will not find it easy in Rome.

The last five Six Nations encounters have all been won by Wales but Italy did manage to beat then at home back in 2007. The Italians are gradually improving and coach Jacques Brunel has set his side the target of two victories in the competition this year. Wales at home probably represents their best chance and they are worth supporting, in the handicap market, against fragile opposition.

Back Italy +6.5 points at 2.24
