ITV racing is flip flopping between jumps and flat racing today and I’m going to do the same with my two tips for the day.

It’s a good opportunity for Scottish racing to take centre stage with a lovely card at Musselburgh and there are three races from the east coast track being shown live on ITV Racing. There is also decent quality jumps racing from Haydock.

Stay tuned tomorrow too where I’ll have some selections for the Fairyhouse meeting in Ireland including the Irish Grand National on Monday.

2.05 Haydock

AMBER GAMBLER is a backable price for me in this for the Ian Williams yard. The better ground will suit nicely and he will have been aimed at this bigger pot for a number of months by the trainer. Williams is always worth following when he targets a horse at a race.

3.00 Musselburgh

I’m taking a chance here that MISS BAR BEACH is as good or perhaps a bit better than her handicap mark. This isn’t as good as the Group 3 and listed races at Goodwood and Newbury where she ran really well last season. She had a stinker when tried in a Group 2 over a mile which should have been an ideal distance for her but I’m happy to disregard that, particularly because we are in much calmer waters here. The clincher for me is that Daniel Tudhope has been booked to ride which is rarely the case with Keith Dalgleish horses and I am keen to see how it works out. I think Miss Bar Beach can run well here before going on to bigger and better things this season.
