I’m expecting Sevilla to be looking for a form of redemption after last week’s abysmal performance against Real Madrid.
I’m not sure I have seen a worst performance from what I perceive to be a good team.
Against a weakened Real they just rolled over and had their belly tickled right from the off and it was disturbing to watch. Thankfully for them, Los Blancos eased off after scoring five first-half goals.
It was a performance that came out of nowhere. They were level on points with Real going into the game and have shown enough this season to suggest a top-four finish is attainable once again.
They are not as good as they were two seasons ago when they beat Liverpool in the Europa League Final. There has slowly been a reduction in terms of quality but they are far better than they showed last Saturday.
So I’m fully expecting a fired-up Sevilla for this game. Their home form is exceptionalwith six wins and a draw in seven matches and they face opponents who have only won one in the last 10.
Wissam Ben Yedder wasn’t selected for the game at the Bernabeu and I’m pretty sure he will start in this game.
It’s not an easy time with coach Eduardo Berizzo being absent while recuperating after surgery and his temporary replacement Ernesto Marcucci looked shellshocked during the game last week.
It’s time for the players to take on responsibility for this performance and I’m going for an empathetic home victory.
