IT was a profitable night thanks to 2-1 and 5-1 winners but I only ended up 4pts after Arsenal beat my Champions League fourfold and Fulham downed the second Super Single.
Colchester gave me a nice 3pts Super Single winner – and I again covered at 10-1 when they led 2-0 – while the English both teams to score treble came up for the second time in four days.
Well done to Greg Browning for landing his nap but when he tipped over 2.5 goals at Fulham I bet he never imagined Wolves would bring it up on their own but an early red killed the London side’s chances. It was one out of two for Desmond who has to hit the double soon.
It’s all about the Champions League on Wednesday and I’ve posted a separate preview. Man United are 4-5 to beat Wolfsburg at home are my Super Single in Wednesday’s Daily Record while Man City face a tough test away to Borussia Moenchengladbach.
We’ve reached the final day of the month and I’ve decided I can’t resist the temptation to put 1.78pts on Paul Pogba at 8-1 to score first for Juventus to try to bring the SS total back level. This would normally be a 0.5 or 1pt bet so please decide for youself it’s worth a go – any first-scorer bet is risky because any player in reality can break the deadlock.
The advised accumulators are also down after showing a handsome profit last month but in an ideal world we’d all do singles … and maybe just goals bets. Also I changed the stats to include all accas, even some of the long shots, whereby I used to only keep tabs of doubles and trebles.
A 20pt loss looks worse than it is – I still haven’t forgiven Rennes for drawing at Ajaccio and costing me in the region of 15 points. What a difference that would have made.
I’m beginning to feel a bit like Rangers boss Mark Warburton who blasted the over-reaction to his side’s defeat at St Johnstone. He’s right – losers get a louder reception than winners.
I’m putting up a goals bet and anytime scorers and reasoning is on the Champions League preview. There are a couple singles I like including Atletico Madrid to win to nil at 6-4 with Skybet and Real Madrid to do the same at 5-4 and I’ve decided to put them on a Top Treble with Galatasaray at Astana to make it a 9-1 treble at BetVictor – again the odds do the talking and I might as well try to cut the losses before October starts and next month the bets will be less risky and shorter priced.
Meanwhile, I’ve had an early look at Saturday’s coupon and can’t believe West Ham are as big as they are at Sunderland. The Hammers have a 100 per cent away record after wins at Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City. Sunderland remain winless and I expected the Hammers to be nearer evens.
I accept the point made about if being a different type of game for the Hammers but Sunderland are seriously struggling and I’m advising them now at 7-5 at Betfred and Coral and also on the Asian Handicap -1 at 29-10 with 888sport.
