MYSELF and Greg Browning thought it was a tough Sunday card and so it proved.

He was unlucky with his two bets while mine never really got going.

My Super Single was speculative but possible with Willie Collum in charge at Morton but was given an easy ride as Rangers ran out comfortable winners.

I quite fancied my treble but Odd missed a late penalty then conceded a last-gasp equaliser as did Dortmund in their shock 2-2 draw at home to Darmstadt.

I’m not sure if many people will have fared well but criticism of Greg was out of order – he’s consistently been one of the best or the best tipsters contributing to the site for a long spell but like everyone else will have a lean spell.

Greg and I will be doing our best to post winners this week but if results go against form it will be a struggle.

On Sunday the Premier League game is West Brom v Everton and there are quite a few matches around Europe I want to study including Frosinone v Empoli and Atalanta v Sampdoria in Serie A.

I’ve had a good look at the main games and may revisit others later (school holiday which again limits time). I’m posting a WBA v Everton preview and team news again is key. I don’t think the Baggies will lose but a draw is possible. However, if Everton are without injury doubts John Stones and Seamus Coleman added to banned Kevin Mirallas this will be a difficult trip and remember Leighton Baines is already sidelined.

I’ve got three days to claw back September Super Single losses which means trying to win about 5pts a day. I’ll start with 4pts on WBA draw no bet which returns stake in the event of a stalemate.

In Serie Frosinone should be boosted by the point they sneaked at Juventus in midweek and could pick up another against Empoli. Sampdoria are a big price at Atalanta and also high scorers. They could win but again I’d advise draw no bet at 7-4 with most firms.

Sampdoria have scored at least two goals in five of their last six matches in Serie A and are 23-10 at Coral to do so again and 4-9 with William to net one or more which looks a decent bet.

Rio Ave are also being tipped on the site to score over 1.5 goals. They are 13-20 at William Hill to win and should do so but at home they aren’t a high-scoring team.

4pts Super Single

West Brom draw no bet (8pm)
(11-10, bet365, William Hill, Paddy Power)

September Super Single record

30 bets (11 winners, 19 losers)
Loss: 16.2pts

Advised Accas

52 bets (10 winners, 42 losers)
Loss: 21.7pts

match goal kings Stamford entertain Sutton Coldfield in the northern premier league on tuesday.
this team average 6 match goals per game, including a 0-0 last home game against the only team below them, ramsbottom.
they lost 7-1 at hyde last league game and lost 2-0 today in the fa cup at coleshill (who are they ?]and have to go again on Tuesday.

Sutton Coldfield have won 5 in a row in the league and are top of the last 6 game form table.
and are priced up at 11-10 for the win which seems big to me.
Stamford conceded 36 in 9 games, but no goal market available yet.

    • the leech 2 years ago

today Stourbridge entertain grantham in the northern premier and statistically Stourbridge win and over 2.5 match goals should come in.
      priced at 2-1 stan james.

stats don’t lie do they ?, ok after this last weeks results they do, grrrrrrrrrr

After the 7-1 defeat to Hyde Stamford sacked the manager ,only got beat 2-0 at the weekend ,not sure if they’ve got a new man in yet ,but I’d imagine the 1st they’ll do is start from the back and tighten up the defence

    Swedish Allsvenskan – 6:05PM

Soren Rieks (Goteborg) Anytime @ 6/4 @ 888 (Bet will be void if player does not start) – 1.46 points

Rieks has scored in his last 4 home games (6 in total) Goteborg have had the advantage of seeing all the sides around them play over the weekend. Norrkoping won at Gefle with AIK losing at Hammarby so they can stretch a lead from AIK and top the table on goal difference over Norrkoping with a win. Sundsvall are a promoted side, not in the relegation battle but are down there. They have lost 3 of their last 4 and should find it difficult against a side pushing for the title with only 6 games left. Nothing overly taking my fancy but I’ll have a small bet on the man in form.

    English ryman league

    Farnborough v Bognor

The form massively suggests Bognor should win this with Farnborough in a bit of a mess sitting at the bottom of the league with only 3 points from 6 games this season to bognor’s 21 from 11 games.
Farnborough have been battered 4-1 and 6-2 in their most recent games with Bognor winning 4 of the last 5.

Back Bognor to win 10/11 or stick it in a double/treble

Mr F – People are always going to be critical when bets lose, simply because people are emotional about money.

As you said before, there’s no point responding to these people so I feel like you shouldn’t even give them weight by mentioning it in your write up.

Still, it was a hard week and that’s football. Anyone who needs this explaining to them shouldn’t be gambling in the first place.

Morning gents, a busy week of football lies ahead, Focusing on tomorrow’s English card, however there is one match I like the look of for goals from a league that’s isnt a shy of high scoring matches

Zulte Res v StTruiden Res KO 4pm

Belgium Reserve league has been a favourite of mine and a few of the other regulars for a while now and this match is stand out fixture in today’s card!

The hosts are rooted to the foot of the table with just one point from a possible 18 and have seen 34 goals scored in those matches! Sadly for them. 24 of those goals they conceded! They have found the in all 6 and play a St Truiden side who come into this after two good wins! What stood out is Zulte have lost 6-2 to Lokern and 6-3 to Mechelen, St Truiden have recently defeated both sides 5-1 and 2-1! Going by that it suggests we should see a comfortable away win with both teams scoring!

Back over 1.5 First half goals
    Over 3.5 match goals

(markets will appear during the day is not inplay)

Tony, yesterday’s SS was a gamble – any bet at 4-1 is.
Last time I put up a red card bet it won – and I didn’t see you complaining then.
      If I see a bet I don’t like I don’t do it.
Also you miss the point – it didn’t need to be a dirty game foe Collum to show a red.

What I like about this site is the variety of bets people do. We’ve had tips on sendings off, goalkeepers to be booked and goals in the first few minutes. The people who put these tips up are showing us their take on what might happen.
Just because they are tips it doesn’t mean that you have to back them. If you think it’s a bad tip then don’t part with your money. Choice is good. After sight is good. Sometimes these tips come in at great odds. Odds on tips often lose. Dortmond 1/8 yesterday.
You have loads of winning tips here everyday as well as losing ones. Get the right ones and you are happy. Pick the losing ones blame yourself for parting with the money.
This isn’t aimed at one person in particular just something I feel strongly about.

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
      Mr Fixit 2 years ago

pydar, you’re spot on. All types of people like different bets from long shots to short odds, from btts and win accumulators to teams to score.
You’ll get a bit of everything on here but at the end of the day it’s down to the person parting with the cash what they choose to take.
When the new site is launched it will be easier to follow different people and posts – it was never meant to be a forum where you could receive up to 1000 comments a day but it turned into that.

    * Wolves have seen BTTS in 7 of their last 9 away league fixtures and in 11 of their last 14 league fixtures since April.

    * Wolves have lost 5 of their last 10 away league fixtures including 2 of the last 3

    * Wolves have won only 2 of their first 8 league fixtures this season.

    * Wolves have kept only 2 clean sheets in their lasst 14 away league fixtures

    * However they have scored in 15 of their last 17 away fixtures, scoring 21 goals in the process

As a Wolves fan Greg I can’t help but think we’ll be given another master class by a team performing well. Add to the mix ex-Wolves Stearman and O’Hara playing against us I don’t see us coming away with anything.
Personally I think the Fulham win at 7/5 or Fulham win/over 1.5 goals at 9/4 are great odds.
Wolves are in an absolute mess. At Preston we conceded early and then couldn’t break down a team with ten men from the 20th minute. It wasn’t until they went down to 9 men could we find an equaliser.

  43. HullShaker 2 years ago

    Morning gents,

I’ll start with the fatal words “think I’ve found one for tonight…”

    RIO AVE v ACADEMICA – KO 8.00:

I know a lot of folk aren’t so keen on the Portuguese leagues but I’ve done OK over the last year or two and this one looks overpriced.

Rio Ave sit 7th but a win with tonight’s game in hand could see them 1 point beneath 3rd place. They were narrowly beaten 2 games back by a second place Sporting CP outfit and beat 4th placed Braga 1 zip a few weeks prior to that.

Academica lie rooted to the foot of the table and have so far amassed a whopping 0 points and an impressive G/D of -11.

The home side have comfortably notched 2 goals in games and I’ll take that as my NAP:

RIO AVE Over 1.5 TGs…evens NAP

    Other bets to consider:

    OVER 2.5 MGs…11/8
RIO AVE -1 on the h/cap…15/8 NB

An interesting novelty bet on Ladbrokes has just came to my attention, Monday night football Buzzword Bingo (Max £10 stake per word or phrase)

If any of the words or phrases are said between 7pm and 8pm then its a winner.

    My selections so far are:

    Hell of a strike 6/1
    Inconsistent 3/1
    When I was playing 2/1
    Poor defending 2/1

I am doing the bet for a bit of fun and interest whist watching. I am going to pick 3 so as long as one come in I have covered my stake. Hopefully they go on a Cliché overload and we land a healthy profit. I know its pure luck but after the amount of goals in the prem this weekend surely one will land. Any thoughts?

Mourinho’s defence is aging and have
conceded goals against all teams they
have played with the exception of Arsenal
(we knew what happened). But for that
game, all of Chelsea’s EPL games have
seen both teams scoring and over 2.5
    goals. Southampton are trying to
rediscover their form and should get at
least a goal at Stamford Bridge.

Carl D…commonly known as bulls*it bingo – a good one to play in stuffy work meetings!

Mr F fair point and agreed re Rio’s home goals and is a potential concern but I’d counteract it with Academica’s recent away habit of conceding 2 and faring the same or worse in home games.

Added to that Academica’s form is significantly poorer than any of Rio’s opponents thus far.

    Good luck

    For general info:

My beloved Blues *should* win tonight if we play well. But we are very inconsistent. The same team that wiped the floor with Southampton away and Chelsea is the same team that struggled to a draw at home to Watford and should have been thrashed at White Hart Lane.

It’s been a tough start fixtures-wise with Liverpool, Arsenal and Man Utd all to come in October to complete the first 10 fixtures including all the top 8 from last year but we’ve looked decent so far.

Barkley has been outstanding so far. His decision-making is still frustrating but that will come, and I think the 5/1 you can get on him to score anytime is frankly ridiculous.

Defensively, we have been hit with a lot of injuries. Baines is out until November but Galloway has stepped up very impressively. Stones is a doubt tonight – unlikely to be risked after a possible hamstring strain – which means Funes Mori could start. While I think he could prove to be good, he didn’t make the best start at Reading. As such, with Berahino back involved for West Brom, I think BTTS is likely.

So, if we turn up, I think we should win. However it’s hard to predict us so I’m staying away from the result market.

Nobody is disputing that Jordan. Your original point was that if Mourinho returning had no relevance then neither did Portos 13 clean sheets at home. All I said was that their clean sheet record is more relevant than Mourinho returning which in my opinion is true but we all have our own opinions on relevant facts

  119. HullShaker 1 year ago

Arghhh – the dreaded vote of confidence Mr F – cheers for that!

Afternoon Greg, I know people have issues with betting on their own teams but I’ve got no such qualms – just important when we do to de-humanise ourselves from team loyalty.

Even if I do that, there’s a strong case for us tomorrow at London Road.

Our undefeated away record stretches way back into last season and we’ve managed to score consistently along the way – especially in recent games.

Apart from spanking a poor Oldham team, Peterborough’s form doesn’t throw up too many challenges although undefeated in 3 and a draw against Walsall could suggest the start of a decent run. I believe they also have 3 o4 players out whilst we have Pope returning (not The Pope by the way)

So, statistically we look very strong and – more importantly – our football and work ethic has looked great this season.

BTTS looks a good shout I agree but value-wise I have to say Bury to win at 21/10 looks way too big.

Bury DNB pays evens and that looks a sound bet and possible NAP – I think we might see a few goals and Over 3.5 pays 2/1.

One to note and something I mentioned last week, Flitcroft has been hammering the free-kick angle in training and Chris Hussey is possibly the best set piece player in the lower leagues.

We scored as a result of one against Coventry and had one off the bar in the same manner. Worth keeping an eye on if you can find the old ‘assist’ markets or goal method. Hussey is 25/1 1st goal scorer and 9/1 anytime.

A bit unfair to label the Portuguese league as being full of “pub teams” and certainly Benfica (1.0) and Sporting (3.0) are not exactly your rovers return select are they?

They also kept 3 clean sheets in 6 home CL fixtures last season, conceding only 3 so their defensive record is very much to be respected and of course is relevant against a misfiring team.

If Celtic won 13 games and kept 13 clean sheets in a row it would be a big talking point and yet the SPFL is surely of a poorer standard than Portugal’s league no?

Of course it is relevant. Much more so than Jose returning after 11 years away.

In any case, my bet isn’t dependent on Porto keeping a clean sheet.

Of course you’re entitled to your opinion Jordan.

My suggested bets are Porto to win @8/5 and Porto to score 2 or more @13/8.

The point of highlighting the defensive record wasn’t to suggest Chelsea won’t score, only that Porto are good defensively and they are very strong at home.

    2-3 first half cards 21/20 @ williamhill

I reckon these two teams will get off to a firey start with a few meaty challenges flying around in the first half. Tonights ref paolo valeri isnt afraid to show a card or 2 in the opening 45mins. Averages 3 first half cards in his first 2 seria A fixtures.

Well in Wato. Should probably have taken it as a single too but didn’t want to use many points today so just done a few low stake multiples at nice odds. It’s not just Pogon, this league is great for btts picks as they’re always priced generously. Some teams should be avoided but 2 other favourites of mine this season have been Cracovia Krakow and Legia Warsaw. Keep an eye for their games too. Hampy is a fan of btts in Poland too and we often have the same picks

Regarding the Monday Night Buzzword bets…

I watched from about 7.25 and heard inconsistent by Gary Neville. Neville than said the first goals is going to be important tonight and they pay out on the last one (which isn’t exact) and not inconsistent.
I’ll be on chat later because I heard it as clear as anything…
anyone one on inconsistent query that if they haven’t paid out…Never doing these again unless I watch all of it.

    • Carl D 1 year ago

Craig, only one that came up was inconsistent, recorded it and watched back, it’s a winner. They will have to pay. Also no mention of last phrase. It just had to be sad anytime during that hour. Don’t let them mug you off, if any further probs I’m sure you can refer it to mrf.

      It’s a winner. Nice one

Some people can’t take it well at all. An ex colleague of mine just called me (I used to be a police officer). He works in the control room and apparently two people called in (that he knows of) via 999 reporting Facebook to be down.

Funniest thing I’ve seen is everyone piling in on Twitter discussing the end of the world as we know it!

In other matters – bit of a turnaround at The Hawthorns. I went out for a tea break and it went from 2-1 to 2-3. That’s going to break some baggies hearts.
