Sep 28: Jordan’s Sports Tips & Chat

CONOR McGREGOR will bid to make history by becoming the first UFC fighter to hold two belts at the same time when he takes on lightweight champ Eddie Alvzerez in November.

The Irish fighter – who is the current featherweight champ and avenged his loss to welterweight king Nate Diaz in their recent rematch – is 8-13 favourite at bet365 who make Alvarez 11-8.

Today’s sporting action see British tennis No.1 Johanna Konta continue her glory tilt at the Wuhan Open in China where she’s 3-4 at Unibet to make it past last-16 opponent Carla Suarez-Navarro (5-4, Coral).

There’s also the likes of cricket and baseball worth a flutter so as usual feel free to add any tips from your sport of choice.

A Rugby Union bet i really like the look of for early tomorrow morning:

    Waikato v Canterbury (Rugby U, 7.35 KO)

Canterbury Over 3.5 Team Tries @1.83

Canterbury sit top of the division with 5 wins 1 loss. Waikato on the other hand sit 2nd from bottom with 3 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses. Canterbury have scored a huge 261 points in their matches, and there try count in the last 5 matches are 7, 1, 8, 8 and 5 – minus the 1 try blip, they’re shipping tries in all over the place. Canterbury should be all over Waikato, and put past at least 30/40 points on them.

    GL all.

Week 3 in the NFL was a ugly but being only week 3 I’ll take it on the chin. The main bets have come close with Baltimore’s failure for one more point and the Giants the week before needing 2 and pretty much all the props that haven’t fallen short by much other than Osweiler’s and Ryan’s pass yards.

Still, users of the site know I don’t shy away from anyway and post totals regardless of how they look, so here they are through week 3.

First main injury reports of the week are out tomorrow so will likely have something up tomorrow evening for the Thursday night game, and we also have the first London game this weekend so an even longer NFL Sunday 😀

    Bets 37
    Points Staked 114.4
    Points Returned 101.95
    Profit/Loss -12.45

The NFL Ante-Posts can probably be taken down now. Odds have shortened for the likes of the Packers and Patriots to win their divisions, with Elliotts rushing yards not available. Can still get Oakland to make the playoffs which are now @ 7/4 which is obviously a better price than I’ve posted but wouldn’t advise to go jumping on as that was before week 1 had kicked off. Still obviously have a chance as they are 2-1 but their division could be one of the closest come the end of the season. Also the Heisman Trophy Winner I posted last week

Looking at the London game on Sunday, the Jaguars will host the Colts who will be making their first trip to London, while the Jaguars have experience here playing in each of the last three seasons. Through three games the Colts are averaging 31.7 points against them per game which is 30th in the NFL. The London games are tough for any team but they do get the bye afterwards. Chances are if the Colts are giving up points in their homeland, the trip will almost certainly yield more.

Blake Bortles is a decent fantasy QB but he’s always inclined to turn the ball over. However they do have the offense to put up points as they did here last season when they scored 34 against Rex Ryan’s so called good Bills defense. The Colts are hurting on both sides of the ball and placed LB Trent Cole on IR this week, with players still missing from the secondary, the Jags should get their points.

Flip to the other side and the Jags despite making big free agent signings and a top corner in the draft, they are still giving up 28 points per game and have given up 31 or more in every game in London. Andrew Luck is a top QB, but his problem has been protection from the o line. He did rally the Colts to comeback against the Chargers on one of the last plays of the game and are averaging 27 points through their three games.

The total is set at 48.5 @ 365, and I’m going to take that to go over. Both teams that struggle on defense but have big offensive weapons (take Mondays game in New Orleans for example) are primed for overs, and add the fact both teams are making 4,000+ mile journeys and playing at 9:30AM on their body clocks. It bodes well for points imo.

    NFL Week 4 – Bet 1

    Jacksonville Jaguars/Indianapolis Colts Over 48.5 Total Points @ 5/6 @ 365 – 3 points

    Kolin @ Nymburk (17:30GMT)

There’s no question that Nymburk will triumph here but a 30+ point spread is definitely a no bet for me! Where i can see some value is in the total points…..Nymburk have home court advantage and we could and should see them reach 95 points. The guests have nothign to lose, they must try and match the high tempo that Nymburk will undoubtedly set, otherwise they could see this game slip-away very quickly.
This will be a high tempo game and we should hopefully see a scoreline in the region of 95-70.

    Total Points (Over 162.5) @ 10/11 Ladbrokes – 1.2pts staked. ***WINNER*** :)

    Good luck!

Final score 101-65. After a frantic 1st half, the game slowed down in the 2nd but it was still enough to get us over the total quite comfortably.

    Czech NBL

    Decin @ Brno (18:00GMT)

I dont see anything other than a Decin win here and it wouldn’t surprise me if it was by double digits.
Outwith Nymburk they are arguably the best team in the league. Decin started their campaign with a convincing win over Ostrava and they should have enough in defence here to see out this one convincingly.
The hosts started their campaign with a loss to Praha and they will have another tough game. Brno will try to stay with Decin in the early exchanges but I just don’t feel the have enough strength in depth to cope for the full 40 minutes.

    Point Spread (Decin -6.5) @ 17/20, Coral – 1.2pts staked. ***WINNER*** :)

    Good luck!

Final score 79-90. It never looked like there was going to be any other results as Decin led the game comfortably throughout?

I’m also going to have a good at the first half totals as I don’t see this game being very high scoring. Both teams had a particularly low scoring 1st half in their previous games – 70 & 62

      1st Half Total (Under 76.5) @ 17/20, Marathonbet – 1.2pts staked. ***LOST**

      Good luck!

Annoyed at this as had already made my selections for the day but put this on late based on previous form. Still learning to be more disciplined!

    Euro Basketball

    Czech NBL

    Opava @ Ostrava (16:30GMT)

Both of these teams have played one game in the NBL where Opava started their campaign with a comfortable home win against Labem (93-60) whereas Ostrava lost their game away from home to a strong Decin team (89-76). I think the bookies have underestimated Ostrava here. Ostrava have shown over recent seasons that they are a tough team to beat at home and although both teams have had contrasting openers to their season, I don’t this serves as a good basis when looking at this fixture. Given the generous odds I’m willing to take a punt on Ostrava here.

    Ostrava (Money Line) @ 13/5, Coral / William Hill – 1pt staked.

    Good luck!

    Latvia LBL

    Jekabpils @ Ventspils (17:00GMT)

The LBL season gets underway as Ventspils entertain Jekabpils in the opening game in Latvia.
I really like the look of Ventspils this season, they have made a couple of really good additions to their roster and I believe they will be the eventual league winners. Lietkabelis on the other hand will be lucky to make the playoffs and I can’t see anything but a comprehensive Ventspils win tonight.
Although I do see the home team having a good chance of covering the large spread, I think for a league opener, the attention should be on the totals. There’s no doubt Ventspils will be strong offensively but I also think they’ll be too strong defensively for Jekabpils to register enough points to take us over the totals line. I’m calling unders here.

    Total Points (Under 158.5) @ 17/20, Betfair – 1.5pts staked.

    Euro Basketball

    Czech NBL

    Praha @ Hradec (17:00GMT)

Both teams had difficult opener to their league campaign scoring 61 & 76 points. These games were against strong defensive teams. Hradec’s score of 61 against Nymburk might seem low but Nymburk are in a different class and for me, 61 points was respectable. Both teams should be able to score around 75 points here, especially Praha so I think the line is set quite low. Also, from the previous 6 H2H this line has been passed.

    Total Points (Over 148.5) @ 5/6, PP – 1.2pts staked.

    Good luck!
