IT was two out of three on the Top Treble as I chased three winners in a row.

Gothenburg and Jong Ajax netted 2+ but there were no goals in the Hacken game which would have come as a surprise to those who follow the Swedes' matches.

I risked 1pt on a first scorer in the Burnley-Watford game so have four days remaining to try to cut the Super Single losses.

By the way how bad were Watford? I said I was tempted but couldn't back them as favourites and what a difference to the side that beat Man United. Good to see Troy Deeney come out after the game and slaughter his own team – they deserved it.

On to tonight and there are eight Champions League ties to look it and dozens of games in the English leagues.

Greg Browning and Desmond have already posted tips and I've put up a Champions League preview.

The sides I like most are Sporting at home to Legia Warsaw and Juventus at Dinamo Zagreb. Both should win well and the straight double pays 4-6.

As I'm still determined to eat into those Super Single losses I'm risking 10pts on the double and adding Arsenal at home to Basel tomorrow. That's 5pts from today's betting bank and five from tomorrow.

If this bet doesn't interest you leave it alone – this is me trying to recoup losses (not chasing them in case anyone wonders). An alternative is Juve -1 and Sporting -1 at 2-1 with Paddy Power. I'm also aware it's not a single but I've explained Super Single could be called Best Bet – it's just a tag that is popular.

If the first two win I'll look at the cover options – if either slip up I'll accept defeat and the fact it's been a bad month for the Super Singles.

I've added a Champions League treble with reasoning on the preview and a both to score treble going with form and stats.

My English treble is Cardiff not to lose at home to struggling Derby, on-form Leeds not to lose at Bristol City and Plymouth to get back on track after their weekend disappointment by at least drawing at Orient.

    Tuesdays Bet

    Sheffield United vs Bristol City

This is a game that should contain goals, Sheffield United are in fine form winning 4 out of there last 5 in the league
but continue to concede goals to sides at both ends of the table. Billy Sharp could very well get on the scoresheet with 4 goals in his last 5 appearances in the league. Bristol Rovers games have seen Both teams to score occur in each of there nine league games this season. They know where the back of the net is but concede too often which is a major stumbling block in there bid to get further up the table. Only one bet for me here, I think you know what it is ;)

    Sheffield United vs Bristol City
    Both teams to score
    4/5
    Stan James

May put up another thing or two up tomorrow if I see anything I fancy, Good luck with your punts tomorrow gents!

    • kyle b 8 years ago

Dozy sod, ive written Bristol City not once but twice wrongly there. Just to add, Sheffield United have only kept one clean sheet all season at home to Peterborough in a game they had many chances in and looked unfortunate not to score in so I think this an excellent price and I expect it to shorten throughout the day.

Alright gents. Poor weekend on all betting fronts for me but with four days left in September I’ll likely be able to end in profit which is what its all about. Last nights MLS bets came close with Columbus Crew and their Kamara doing their bit with Kei missing a sitter for the Revs to down both bets.

Tonight I’m going to the Champions League where Leicester play their first home game. I backed them to score before their goal time in Brugge, but this time I’m backing both to score with Porto the visitors. The 3-0 win in Brugge might look good but the home side had the majority of possession and attempts at goal, and with Porto the better side I think it could be a decent game. Ranieri will obviously want a clean sheet after the way they’ve conceded over the past couple of weeks, but easier said then done against tough European opposition.

Islam Slimani scored four goals in two games against Porto in the Portuguese league last season and will be looking forward to this one I’m sure. He is 2/1 to net anytime @ Skybet which I’ll take for a point.

    Leicester/Porto BTTS @ 10/11 @ William Hill – 3.3 points

    Islam Slimani (Leicester) Anytime @ 2/1 @ Skybet – 1 point

Mr F, Watford seemed to start the game with such a laid back approach continuously on the back foot as Burnley pressed forward, controlled possession and carved out a number of opportunities in the first half. We went into halftime with a deserved lead, the only chance Watford had was at the end of the half with a tame header which Tom Heaton grasped with ease. Didnt know which Watford was gonna turnout in the second period, thought the manager would kick them into touch. Whatever he said or did didnt work, they came out a depleted side with no real urgency to attack and get back in the game. The second goal from Burnley killed the game off, not that we looked like we needed it. Roberto Pereyra had little influence in the game, it was almost as if he wasnt there and the strikers were isolated up top. They brought on Isaac Success towards the end of the game and he caused us a few problems with his pace and trickery and he carved out an opportunity for himself towards the end of the game with an effort from an acute angle, he was Watfords brightest spark and may have earned himself some gametime in the fixtures coming up. Troy Deeney had a near post attempt saved and there were a few shots off target as we got everyone behind the ball to maintain our clean sheet in the final stages but they caused us very little problems. They took us too lightly and ultimately paid the price.

Drawn up a quick shortlist for tonight, a lot depends on team news:

    BARNSLEY v aston villa
At 2/1 some real value with Barnsley. I don’t think Villa will fancy the trip north on a Tuesday night.

    wigan v WOLVES
9/4 for Wolves to beat Wigan is crazy odds especially if Zenga goes with the correct team. I’ll be eagerly awaiting team news for this one.

    huddersfield v ROTHERHAM
I think there is some real value for Rotherham (queue the laughs) here. 6/1 for a win in the Championship is ridiculous odds. Rotherham are well and truly capable of netting at least two every game and they tend to take the initiative in most games. With a defeat at Reading it may be time for over rated Huddersfield to have a bit of a wobble. Bit of a derby game which may play into Rotherham’s hands.

    Barnsley over 0.5TG
    Wolves over 0.5TG
    Rotherham over 0.5TG
    1.84/1
    Various

After my ” well below the belt ” – and thoroughly deserved roasting I gave my beloved Derby in yesterdays thread, I’ve had a beer, had a valium and my feet are back on the ground.
All the old cliché’s are coming out from the backroom staff and the faithful fans are having a field day:
    injuries
    players not doing their job
    the manager
    4-3-3
    4-4-2
    not had time to gel
    have patience
    the manager
no holding midfielder – thorne still injured
why was Eustace sent on his way
why do we have a central midfielder playing a wingers role when we have attackers on the bench that can do that
Forsyth’s acl injury – no attack down the left
    no attack down the right
    no leadership
no midfield to front line linkage
players not playing for the manager
why play bent when we have better on the bench
attackers not getting service – thus no goals
    the manager
    martin gone – ( 20 goals a season gone )
    bent’s laziness
    Keogh not up to standard
    the manager

I think you get the picture.

If I was Mel Morris’s wife, I’d hire a divorce lawyer and pronto because since he’s taken charge just over 14 months ago, he’s already got his cheque book out and shelled out about £50million + enhanced contracts last year for all of our star players. We’ve recouped £10 mill+ for Hendrick, another £2.5-£3mill loan fee for Martin with the first option to buy in July, but throwing money at a problem that is our inability to defend AND score isn’t going to solve it. Dare I say it but when Roman Abramovich pitched up at Chelski with his diamond encrusted debit card whenever Chelski rang a club to make enquiries, people rubbed their hands and prices, agents commission, signing fee’s and players wages went through the roof. Anybody that got a Chelski contract was basically sitting underneath a money tree, they could sit on their arse’s all day, do little and the tree would still shed it’s Wonga on a weekly basis. Nice work if you can get it. Mrs Morris had better get in quick before it is all spent.
Maybe 4 games into the season, I identified that we had a manager that didn’t know his best 11, 5 further games and another £18 million or so later and we still have a manager who doesn’t know his best 11 but he now has another 3 or 4 players to add to that dilemma. I feel now that since Mel Morris sold his stake in Candy crush saga last year – his share was over £600 million, players, managers and clubs that get the call from a Derby representative now have pound signs in their eyes…. MONEY !!!!! I fear in that respect we now have a team full of players who are here just to pick up their pay cheque. A bit like Chelski. It’s awful for a fan to put up with this garbage. All that money we’ve spent and we still have an absolutely terrible defence that cannot function without the added support of a covering midfielder !!
My thoughts are exactly the formation that Burton played against us. If we don’t have the right players for the right slots, change the formation, if we insist on wingbacks, then bolster the back line and let the wingbacks bomb down the lines. Burton used a 3-2-3-2 formation ( 2 wingbacks and 3 defenders ) – they beat us. None of this square pegs and round holes, sure up our weakness’s add 3 midfield battlers ( 1 box to box midfielder ) and let him and the wingbacks service the front pair. Championship manager has nothing on me.

We travel to Cardiff tonight, I’m not relishing it because its often been slim pickings down in Wales, and with 3 points from 7 games, Cardiff also scrapping, it’s going to have to be one hell of a formation change, selection change ( wholesale) and 11 red hot pokers strategically placed up players you know whats.

Derby’s under 23’s had a great game yesterday and 3x ever presents were absent – Max Lowe, Timi Max Elsnik and Jamie Hanson. Whilst they’ll not be enough to stop the rot, having that option is there if the changes need to be done. there’s also Russell, Camara and Wilson who all should be back in contention.

I’d advise though against betting on Derby until this sinking ship is made seaworthy.

Not a great nights sleep from me this past 2 days and highly likely to not be awake during the build up OR match commentary.. Strange isn’t it, 12 months ago and I’d be glueing matchsticks to my eyelids, now I have little to get me excited about at the Ipro.
On a plus side, Derby’s halftime entertainment got 10 million hits on youtube, shame we can’t muster 10 shots towards the oppositions goal over a 90 minute period, but then again, when you’re relying on a lazy overpaid former England player on the slippery slope to being a five live commentator, is it any wonder we can’t score more than we are??

Not sure if will manage on later so here’s my thoughts on tonight, was a poor night last night with Watford not turning up

Going a for 2 single main bets as feel been trying too many bets in a day so tonight I’m putting my faith in sporting Lisbon who are starting to score a few goals especially at home & that should sleep bad news for Levi’s Warsaw who are struggling domestically & were hammered 6-0 by Dortmund

    Sporting Lisbon over 2.5tgs 10/11
    Das bost ags 11/10

& just coz I could resist another wee punt for smaller stakes

    Leicester btts

    Leyton Orient v Plymouth Argyle
After a dodgy start Plymouth are in the groove and have that winning mentality unbeaten in their last 8 games and winning 7 of them. I fancy them to win tonight at 21/10 or you can get 6/5 dnb. My only concern is Orient may put a performance in now the manager had been sacked. Still like the look of it though and cannot see any injury concerns for Plymouth to put me off.
    Good luck lads.

    Morning gents

English league action for me tonight

    Blackburn v Sheffield Wednesday

Few teams can boast to have the strike force Sheff W have, in Hooper, Fletcher and Forsetieri, goals are always on the cards! I watched highlights of their match against forest and they were terrific! It was 2-1 going on 4-1! Blackburn gave boss Owen Coyle a much needed win as they came from behind to beat a confidence shot Derby side! This will be a much tougher test! BTTS has been the norm in Wednesday’s games this season and we should see another tonight! Been no shortage of goals between these two with 8 of the last 10 encounters seeing over 2.5 goals!

Back over 2.5 match goals 10/11 (William Hill) (NAP)

    For small stakes:

Back Sheff W to win 13/10
    Over 1.5 Sheff W team goals 11/10

    Cardiff V Derby
    MK Dons v Bury

  27. dt4854 8 years ago

Hi everyone, now that we are nearly in October, I think enough form has been established for me to start posting regularly again.

    Sporting Lisbon

    Over 6.5 team corners

    3/4 (William Hill)

Lisbon have been awarded at least 7 corners in 5/6 league games this season. They only managed 2 against Madrid last time out, but Warsaw is a much easier prospect and Lisbon need to win big as qualification could come down to goal difference.

Legia concede an average of 6 corners per game in Poland, and Dortmund managed 7 when they thrashed them a couple of weeks ago.

I know the price is a bit skinny, but I am not tempted to wait for better odds inplay on the ‘race to’ market simply because Warsaw love a corner themselves and managed to get 8 against the Germans despite the scoreline.

    National Conference .
    7.45.
MACCLESFIELD goal before 52 mins 5/6.

SUMMARY: Garry Mills has lost the support of a fair proportion of dragon fans, the question is, has he, or his players lost faith in each other? Away from home the stats clearly questions their defensive abilities, and to compound this the forwards are struggling to hit the net, which only adds pressure to the situation . Mills this week has mentioned if Wrexham no longer want his services then so be it, thus all in all, the Welsh side aren’t presently in a good place. They’ve prior to the Woking game, have continually conceded early goals on their travels. This evening they travel again to MACCLESFIELD, a side I tend to avoid due to their unpredictability, but up till now, they’ve had a good start to season, only failing to score on home soil once, against a resurgent Eastleigh side! Early goals are a common occurrence at Moss Rd, with the home team scoring a high volume of them. One their day, MACCLESFIELD are more than capable of netting 2, maybe 3 goals this evening, but an early one will keep me smiling!!!!

  47. richb20806 8 years ago

On Jordan’s, mr f’s super single, gregs NAP and bet of the day…

Also on a few of hulls bury tips too.

Love the Bas Dost tip from someone… 11/10 was crazy odds… put it in a treble and with Slimani (a’la jordan) and Tammy Abraham from Bristol City….. been winning a fair bit on Abraham lately… bang in form and always good odds (11/8 at 365)….

    1. Treble ATGS 11.51/1 – 0.5 a point

    2. Treble BTTS and Overs
    – Blackburn v Sheffield
    – mk dons v bury
    – Wigan v wolves
    – 9.37/1 for 2 points…. great odds
    and really like this.

    3. Leics, wolves and Bristol city to win. 14.22/1 for 0.5 a point.

    4. Bury 2+ goals, Leics v porto BTTS and wolves 1+

Above are smaller stakes with heavier stakes in Jordan, gregs and mr f’s…

And for what it’s worth I’m staking a crazy 27.9 points today lol…. I’m only £5 per point though lmao…. not the much mooted £1k a point like some people ?

    • richb20806 8 years ago

Legia warsaw playing in the CL again tonight and should get solidly beat by sporting. Legia have a new manager who has not got a lot of high level experience and I think they will ne prioritising the polish league as if they dont improve they will surely be looking at relegation soon!

Im going for sporting to score in both halves at 1.80

Also a game which looks great for cards and has a ref that likes to dish them out is cska moscow vs tottenham . Asian cards 4 at evens.

  51. wasclueless 8 years ago

Omar Bogle ATGS 13/10 … The Grimsby forward banging them in (like he did in the National League) 8 in 9 against a leaky Newport defence who have conceded 9 in 4 games

CSKA v Spurs BTTS 4/5 – did pick this last night after a few shandies …. my blurred thinking was something along the lines of CSKA seem to concede a few and Spurs can score even with out Kane and really need something from the game ….. mind you We Love Betting have tipped it … lets hope their tipster wasn’t pissed as well !!

    • HullShaker 8 years ago

Cracking player Bogle – spoke to a mad keen Grimsby fan last week (more mad than keen tbh) who proceeded to sing a full-hearted rendition of:

      “Omar…Omar Bogle…OmarBogle…Omar…Omar Bogle”

to the tune of 2 Unlimited’s techno classic ‘No Limits’

I quite enjoyed it but the rest of the funeral party weren’t so keen.

Ok, so I made the last bit up but he is on fire and here’s a tasty scorer double for tonight:

      BOGLE & VAUGHAN ATGS…5/1

      ?

    • wasclueless 8 years ago

Haha!! 2 Unlimited …. that takes me back Hull – we’re showing our age .. many a nightclub staggering around shouting out “There’s no lyrics” !! I picked up on Bogle last season when I think it was “The Boss” used to tip him … haven’t seen him (the Boss not Bogle!) on here for ages and his Rugby League tips on the other thread were usually spot on …..

Huddersfield are one of the shocks of the Championship getting off to a great start! They have lost 2 of their last 3 but both against tough opponents in Reading and Brighton, they were also both away. Tonight though they are at home where they have won 4 from 4 and welcome a Rotherham side with just 1 win from 9 attempts. They also have the worst away from in the Championship loosing 4 from 4, 4-2, 4-0, 3-0 and 3-0!

Long shot team goals bet for me tonight

    Port Vale vs Millwall

    Port Vale over 1.5tg @ 2.75

Port Vale have won 4 from 4 at home scoring 8 and bringing up this bet on 3 of those occasions. Millwall have seen 18 goals in total in their 4 away games, conceding 11 and conceding at least twice in 3 of the 4 games. Think this is a cracking price

    Exeter vs Notts Co

    Notts Co over 1.5 tg @ 2.37

Exeter have lost all 4 home league games conceding 6 times in the process. Notts Co have won 3 from 4 away from and since an opening day defeat have hit 8 goals in their last 3 away

    Huddersfield over 1.5tg @ 1.66

Rotherham have conceded 14 in 4 away games unsurprisingly losing every one of them and have lost at least 3 in every away game. Huddersfield have won 4 from 4 at home and scoring 7 times

    Treble pays 10.88

If you fancy strecthing Huddersfield to over 2.5tg it will pay 21.22

Two Night Owls this evening – one in deepest darkest Peru and the other in Chile…

    Night Owl 1:

    SPORTING CRISTAL
    UTC CAJAMARCA

Both 21.30 KO’s and I’m taking both home favourites to score 2 or more apiece as a Team Goal double 1.87/1.

    Night Owl 2:

COLO COLO v HAUCHIPATO (12.00 KO):

Both team’s games are littered with both teams scoring and none more than actual H2H’s – 6 of the last 7 have seen BTTS with 4 of those 7 seeing BTTS and 3 or more goals.

Two selections and a hefty stake on both:

    Inplay at 32 mins

    Juventus -1 Asian handicap
    (From 2-0)

    @2.200

    1 point

    ** WON **

Also said I really fancied a 4-0 but didn’t put anything on it?

New Inplay total today + 6.41

Going to minus the 1 point on the Inplay 4 fold with Porto DC being the only loser… The £5 half time 14 fold accy was downed by two which is 0.2 points for me so a minus 1.2 points on the long shots which is covered exactly by the Inplay 1 point juve winner

Only ‘safe NAP’ 4-fold was downed by the Blackburn vs sheff wed game as I needed one more goal

    PROFIT TODAY = + 5.21 points!

    **2-0 Plymouth**
Think the ref had a bet on Plymouth with the two red cards he dished out.
Well done to the winners tonight!

    Treble @ 53/50 (Unibet) ///WIN///

A blooming miracle has happened at Edgeley Park. 93rd and 97th minute goals bring in the single at Stockport, which in turn causes a full house. The betting gods have shined on me this evening. Congrats to all winners.

Bury go second and for the first time since I was a kid, we sit 4 points ahead of Bolton Wanderers…life is good.

Speaking of Bolton, I see my friend Allardyce has gone…tara Big Sam – as my good friend in Bolton’s finest furniture shop would say…’be careful how you speak to folk and what you say – otherwise it’ll come back and bite you on the arse’ ?

Looking ahead to tomorrow night anyone fancy ludogrets to score against PSG

Ludogrets to score before 79min is evens

    • bettingman1 8 years ago

Think they have been the surprise package of this seasons champions league by a good draw away plus beating Victoria plzen and red star Belgrade in the qualifying rounds
Plus psg have already been beaten twice this season already and they are struggling so it’ll be a tough test away tomorrow

Having just woken ten minutes ago and switching on the radio, I almost couldn’t believe what I thought I was hearing. It’s frustrating listening in on major news of crap that’s gone off around football and then they mention Sam Allardyce has gone, and former Derby player – Nigel Pearsons assistant Chris Powell doing the press conference and talking about closing out the game.

    DOUBLE WTF !!!

So far, ( and this is without the mandatory wake up cuppa and 3 ciggies ), Derby won 2 nil. Pearson wasn’t in charge ( he was asked to sit this one out ) – Powell took that job on tonight and smashed it. And finally 4-3-3 !!

I’m still sketchy on the rest, but the national news is all over the sam allardyce stuff, is pearson involved in that too?? Apparently there’s been a massive 8 manager sting gone off over dodgy transfer dealings. I mentioned transfers and agents today – where there’s money, there will always be vultures.

My poetic piece earlier today pointed at the 2 big problems: the 4-3-3 and the manager. But what do I know, I’m just a fan.

I’m not getting ahead of myself but a former great servant to the club such as Chris Powell at the helm who understands the club and fans, and how we’re set up to play HAS to be seen as a huge step in the right direction. I know the team will play for him. We have 36 games left to put it right and although 6 points from 24 is slightly better than 3 from 21, its a start.

If Carlsberg did DCFC news updates, Chris Martin would be redirecting his mail back to Derby and Mel Morris would be sending back the money to Fulham. IF Martin comes back, i’ll stand down with the earlier offer I made to start lacing up my boots.

I’ll post further updates about this managerial crap within Derby as soon as I hear it.
