IT was one tip one winner from Johnb on Friday as he landed a nice double-stake 9-4 shot.

So it was 4.5pts profit for the day and September’s losses are now down to 6.12pts.

Johnb says: Saturday’s Nap might surprise a lot of people but I genuinely think the 2/5 favourite can be beaten. I have heard 8/1 is available for the Nap Ajaya but for some reason the only site I can get on is bet365 so I will just be using their odds while on holiday.

Ajaya 6/1 NAP bet365

Tryster 7/4 NB bet365

    Newmarket 3:50 Master The World @ 33/1 bet365 e/w ep
Betfred Cambridgeshire (Heritage Handicap) (CLASS 2) (3yo+) 1m1f

Master The World……from David Elsworth yard the local trainer will be looking to recoup losses for owners as he started at Ascot 49 days ago in Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Mile (Handicap) .1m as 4/1 fav and poor run in last furlong saw him draw level with leaders at 1f pole and had no extra to give and finished 7th off 100 mark,

Although only 4yo he’s still learning and getting stronger and with yard not running it for 49 days they’ve had time to work on fitness and stamina ,He has won three times from 1m to 1m 2f on good to firm and good ground so if fit and gets the breaks could come home again at his local track as he’s won here over a 1m and 1m 2f and recoup loses from last race,

He runs of 99 today with Silvestre De Sousa on horse for first time

    Morning all

Michael Stoute has won with 4 of his last 7 enteries so his yard is clearly in top form and worth keeping an eye on. Based on that im going for ARISTOCRATIC 6/4 1.30 NAP.
I also think LUMIERE 7/2 NB can reverse the places with BESERAH if she can settle better. Was very impressive on july course on debut and this track will hopefully see a return to the form she showed on debut.
My 3rd bet is the Longsdon/johnston combo i mentioned last night SCORPIAN PRINCESS 7/2 5.10
And im having an ew on QUICK N QUIRKY 12/1 3.15 Ripon who steps up to a mile for the first time and i think it will suit down to the ground.

I’m usually the first one to stick up for JohnB but I don’t think it keeps it real to adjust his figures for a best odds guaranteed result on the day. Some bookies offer it, some don’t. In the same spirit that you calculate winners on a basis of the advised price (not the price 2 hours later when it often shortens) which I think is fine, you need to advise results based on the advised price (less any R4 deductions) whether prices shortened or drifted before race off.

Just my opinion – but for the integrity of the stats I personally think it’s important (especially when we’re trying to recover a loss on the month).

    Goos luck for today’s picks.

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 3 years ago

PeteT, at the end of the day they are Johnb’s stats so I believe he should calculate them on the price at the time he comments.
He takes off deductions of course.

      • PeteT 3 years ago

Mr F – this is exactly the point I was making (you made it much better than I did first thing this morning) however John’s view is slightly different.

I’ve made my point though and John doesn’t agree (and I’ll respect that).

Main thing is we try and find some more winners and I, as much as anyone else, is really pleased that John’s managed to turn the month round in the last few days.

PeteT I have said on numerous occasions that all the major bookies are best price guaranteed for every uk race
If the sp is the same or bigger as the early price & horses are pulled out then the rule 4 doesn’t come into play.

Yesterday I took 2/1 and got paid at 9/4 as did a lot of people and the integity of my stats is ok

Anyone who backs with sportingbet & winner who don’t get best odds guaranteed should change accounts
Betway in the past didn’t give best odds but I am sure they do now
Hills, ladbrokes, bet365, betfred, coral, paddy power, bet victor, boylesports, skybet all give best odds
Ladbrokes paddy power are only from 9am though but if I ever advise ladbrokes paddy power odds the night before I don’t use best odds for my stats

    • PeteT 3 years ago

John B – I think you misinterpreted some of my point (in fairness I didn’t put it across very well).

I do disagree slightly with what you’re saying regarding Best Odds Guaranteed but I don’t want to fall out over it. I suspect we’ll just have to agree to disagree on the point.

The year looks good and that’s the main thing I guess.

Pete, you need to get out more. A win is a win.

Hopefully more coming today. Good luck all.

    • PeteT 3 years ago

I agree a win is a win and I’ve been a supporter of John B publicly through good and bad times.

It’s actually because I’m a supporter I want his stats to have the integrity and stand up to scrutiny. That says, he doesn’t agree with my point and I have to respect that.

The main thing is he’s cut a 21 point loss on the month by almost 75% of that. More than anyone I’m pleased to see that as I want the guy to be successful for everyone’s benefit.

That said I don’t to make a big issue of this. I raised a legitimate point (which I’m entitled to), John said he didn’t agree (which he’s entitled to) and we move on.

Don’t think there was a need to say I need to get out more but I’ll ignore that as I’m sure there was no malice meant.

Echoing your comment for more winners today and good luck to all.

      • Billy 3 years ago

    Timeform comments:

Ajaya (4 out of 5 stars), 6f: Showed he’s a smart colt when only just denied in French Group 2 in July and decisive winner of the Gimcrack at York 4 weeks later. Expected to go well but will need to improve to trouble Shalaa.
Race commentary: SHALAA has blazed a trail in the juvenile sprint races this year and can’t be opposed having already achieved a rating in advance of what it usually requires to win this race. Godolphin’s Venturous has looked a colt going places when landing short odds on his last 2 starts and might be worth siding with for the forecast spot, ahead of Gimcrack scorer Ajaya.

Tryster (5 out of 5 stars), 1m 1f 46y: Won first 5 starts (all AW) this year, including Winter Derby and valuable event back at Lingfield on Good Friday. Last of 5 in Brigadier Gerard but much better expected back on AW. Cheekpieces added.
Race commentary: A really interesting race. TRYSTER was the best around on AW in the spring and is taken to make a winning return from a break, but there are plenty of dangers, headed by Godolphin’s other runner Let’s Go and Western Reserve, who won a really strong 3-y-o handicap at Newmarket when last seen in July.

John didn’t back your nap, but reading how you match, track, jockey and all the rest of it. How did you come up with, a horse that is suited to flat York, and failed at ascot, which I think matches Newmarket form to be your nap. What your practice is the same as me. Am I missing something as to how York and Newmarket compare

Rookie, definitely a game for goals but I’d rather do btts – looks like a draw to me at first glance.
