IT looked a good card on paper but we don't bet on paper anymore (most of us don't anyway).
I once again avoided the Capital One Cup games but there were just two shocks – Sheffield Wednesday at Newcastle and Carlisle drawing at Anfield – and I hope people backed Chelsea, Man United and Southampton on the handicaps after line-ups were revealed.
It was Rennes who done me big time as they inexplicably drew at bottom of the table Ajaccio. That beat my Super Single and Aways Treble although the latter was advised as a Trixie so I landed a 5-1 double thanks to St Etienne and Villarreal.
Such are the margins in betting if Rennes had scored one more goal both my Super Single and Advised Accas for September would be in a combined profit (well almost) – instead I have a loss of 25pts but still hope to wipe that out before the end of the month.
Last night most people would have struggled with the likes of Juventus, Barcelona, Dortmund and Aberdeen being short-priced flops.
Maybe it was a night for goals but even then only one game went over 2.5 and two saw both scoring in the usually lucrative Serie A while Germany and Spain fared a bit better.
So it's not been the best of weeks and I'm limiting myself to a Daily Double tonight.
There is a Championship game between Huddersfield and Nottm Forest while in Serie A Empoli meet Atalanta. Real Betis entertain Deportivo in La Liga, Montpellier face Monaco in France and there are plenty of matches in Scandinavia.
Betis-Deportivo isn't an easy call while h2h suggests a low scorer at Montpellier with the last four meetings being 0-1, 1-1, 0-1 and 0-0. Montpellier have collected just one point in six games and Monaco, who have picked up seven of their eight points away, should win but I thought that about Rennes.
However, here's a key stat – Montpellier have not beaten Monaco in their last 27 meetings and have conceded 49 goals against them in that period.
Monaco look slightly overpriced at 6-4 with the likes of BetVictor so I'm taking them at 4-11 not to lose. I was close to picking Monaco as the Super Single but have decided to leave it out.
We talked a lot about goals stats this week and Huddersfield have conceded in every game this season. Forest have won their last two away at Birmingham and QPR so both to score could be a shout at 3-4 with 888sport.
Empoli's last five in Serie A have seen both score but last season it was 0-0 against Atalanta and last night there weren't many goals in the league.

Mike Ashley has a shorter fuse than Roman Abramovich, so I was actually surprised that after his international debarcle of a career, he’d spent quite some time trying to restore his credibility at Wolfsburg, Fc twente and Derby and then goes and moves to a job who’s fans and owners will never truly be happy. folks, probably the kiss of death but i checked the twitter account of LA Galaxy before the match tonite with Central FC.
There wasn’t one player from the team that played real salt Lake at the weekend. So, it seems that LA Galaxy are playing a reserve and very junior team.
I managed to get on just after Central scored early on at 5/2 but they can still be got at 17/10 at half time (score remains 1-0).
Know nothing about either team or their respective leagues but considering the changes, must be worth a crack.

It’s not often I take +1 Handicap bets on lower league matches but I was scanning the card and this is the one game that kept jumping out at me. Angelholm have the second worst defence in the league and sit two positions below GAIS in the league.
Not the greatest of stats but a lot of that damage was done in the first half of the season. A change of manager in July has seen results improve and they have only lost one of their last eight. GAIS are without a win in their last 3, and have won 4 out of 11 home games this season and 8 out of 24 overall. They did beat Angelholm earlier in the season when they were in poor form, and have won both times this tie has been played at home but given Angelholm’s recent resurgence i’m willing to take a chance on the away side.

Of all the cups the Russian one is the one I’ll be avoiding,I was burned by CSKA yesterday and don’t intend on letting it happen again. The Russians tend not too take the cup serious and looking through the past few years the 2nd tier teams have faired not too bad in the competition with a fair few games going too ET or Pens. Both Zenit and the aforementioned CSKA struggles yesterday in away games too lower league outfits. I advise caution on these games lads

Scouring the cup games this morning and might have found a bit of early value in Denmark in a match between Sondenborg and Randers at 3pm
Sondenborg play in the Denmark Series which is the equivalent of the National league level in England while Randers are 3rd in the top tier of Danish football.

Empoli V Atalanta throws up a good fixture. Empoli are favourites but I do not think this should be the case. Atalanta have only lost to Inter Milan this season who we all know have had a cracking start to the season beating everyone, and also the last 2 h2h with Empoli have both been draws. Further back Previous h2h are from a long time ago so I am discounting them. Empoli only won one game this season but Udinese got a red card and Empoli got 2 late goals, so this victory came in favourable circumstances for Empoli.
I think the Asian Line of +0.5 for Atalanta is great value at 1.72 (8/11), as based on h2h and current form this should come in. This asian line is same as Atalanta double chance – same odds.

Empoli V Atalanta throws up a good fixture. Empoli are favourites but I do not think this should be the case. Atalanta have only lost to Inter Milan this season who we all know have had a cracking start to the season beating everyone, and also the last 2 h2h with Empoli have both been draws. Further back Previous h2h are from a long time ago so I am discounting them. Empoli only won one game this season but Udinese got a red card and Empoli got 2 late goals, so this victory came in favourable circumstances for Empoli.
I think the Asian Line of +0.5 for Atalanta is great value at 1.72 (8/11), as based on h2h and current form this should come in. This asian line is same as Atalanta double chance – same odds.
