THE Murray brothers' heroics steered Britain into their first Davis Cup Final since 1978 and they battle Belgium next month for the trophy.

It's expected to be played on clay – Andy Murray's least favourite surface – and the Brits are favourites at 5-11 with Unibet to win the Cup for the first time in 70 years.

The Belgians – whose team includes world No.15 David Goffin and world No.59 Steve Darcis – are 12-5 at Coral.

There's APT action today from St Petersburg and Metz while the WTA Tour's Asian swing sees the likes of Simona Halep and Caroline Wozniacki go for glory.

Elsewhere today there's county cricket and Major League Baseball among the sporting highlights so let's hear your tips and thoughts and good luck with your bets.

Jordan, not sure if I am right in thinking I read a comment from you about the Giants / Skins game, if it wasn’t you, apologies.

But this is something I read:
Giants are 1-5 SU against the Skins, including a series sweep by the Skins last season (45-14 at Washington, 24-13 at NY)
The total has gone under in the last 5 games between the Skins and Giants.

  5. BigB 9 years ago

Actually, please ignore that. Those stats don’t seem too reliable at all. Giants swept the Skins last season by those scores.

Does my bet on Paire become void at William hill after he retired 6-4 3-0 down ?

    • Mr Fixit 9 years ago

Wazza, different rules with different bookies – you’ll know soon enough.
Ad would be able to tell you if he was about.

    Should void it, Wazza.

I had it on Skybet on the double and treble
They put all bets as a loss !!

Bet365 void them I know that for a fact.

Lesson learnt Don’t bet tennis on Skybet !

    • Mr Fixit 9 years ago

Brian, it works both ways though – sometimes it could be in your favour.
It would be simpler if everyone played by the same rules.

  16. Ad 9 years ago

Sorry for the Paire bet chaps. Hope anyone on was lucky enough to have theirs voided- not me!

Also sorry for not clarifyig which zverev I was backing- shocking oversight there! I meant Mischa, but I actually think both brothers will win and may have a single on young Alex too at a bigger price of 5/4

Trying my hand at footy again after a nice 11/1 win on the hammers at the weekend. Or was it 12? Ether way!

    Birmingham d Villa
    Fulham d Stoke

    Pays 10/1

I will have a closer look at things ahead of tomorrow.

  17. Ad 9 years ago

Wazza- will hill should void. Unless they’ve change ther rules recently. Off then top of my head bet365, paddy power, Boyle sports, BV and Stan James all void unless the whole match is completed. With most others paying out after a set.

I would normally advise just using whatever bookie offers best odds for relatively small stakes accas and accept you will win some and lose some via retirements, with it balancing out over time.
If your stake is larger and you don’t want the risk of losing it via injury then go with one who voids.

But if you’re betting on someone who’s played a whole lot of matches recently or is carrying a knock or has a history of retiring, then consider one who pays out after a set.

Seen a few comments suggesting Japan +16.5 looks huge. While I tend to agree given their performance against SA and the fact that they’re actually ranked higher than the Scots now, I’d suggest some caution.

They may have played their final against the Boks and will still feel it come the game tomorrow. This along with the short turnaround and a fresh Scotland team might work against them. Tough one to predict in my eyes and I feel this may be one to veer away from and just sit back and enjoy a cracker!

Afternoon gents. Week 2 in the NFL won’t go down as a great one for most but we’re still early in the season. Out of the 16 games played in week 2, a massive 9 underdogs won outright. Before I went to bed and saw the Jets were +2.5 point underdogs at home against Philadelphia, come the afternoon they are now -2 favourites (just as I said they would be). If they can keep getting takeaways on defense as much as they have in week 2, they would have to score much to win games. Anyway. Can’t look back at missed opportunities so back on to week 3. Figures weren’t as initially bad as I thought but still down -6.72 points.

    Week 3

Brady and Rodgers both at home. The Jaguars will be grinning from their home win against Miami yesterday. What they won’t be so chuffed about is that Brady threw over 460 yards in Buffalo. Whys that not great I hear you ask? Ryan Tannehill threw 360 yards in their win with two receivers over 110 yards. Gronkowski and Edelman will be drooling at who can get the most yards this weekend. Spread is double digits and for good reason. The Jags from sunny Florida in Boston. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Bradys passing yards at 320 this week. Still might be worth a prop bet though with Edelman and Gronkowski. Both will be around the 100 mark.

Second game is Green Bay at the Lambeau, once more on national television (all three of their games have been televised on a national scale in America since the start of the season) Last time the Chiefs played here in a regular season game they lost 20-19, that was in 2011. With the Packers extending their win streak against the Seahawks Sunday night, I can’t see the Chiefs getting much from this. After watching the game. Rodgers composure in the pocket was on point and rarely looked in trouble only being sacked twice. He’ll face a lot of pressure from Kansas but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him call Houston offside once or twice. Even then he escaped the pocket multiple times and extended plays with his feet and arms. Something nobody had seen done quite so well from him since he first hobbled off with his calf injury last season. The spread opened at -6.5 but has gone out to -7. I’m taking the alternative spread as I think it might stay closer than last nights game against Seattle, but with Manning being able to beat Kansas at the Arrowhead, Green Bay surprisingly nullifying Marshawn Lynch last night, I’ll take the Packers to cover -2.5 at home. Jamaal Charles is a whole speedier kettle of fish than Lynch but they’ll be watching film on his first two games all week and try to do the same job as they did last night.

    NFL Week 3

    Alternative Spread Double

    Patriots -6.5 – Sunday – 6:00PM
    Packers -2.5 – Tuesday – 1:30AM

    Just over 4/5 @ 365 (0.81/1) – 10 points

After watching both the Eagles and the Jets this season I am quite happy to add the Jets to my above double on the alternative spread. If they can force Andrew Luck and the Colts into that many mistakes, Sam Bradford has little hope of a productive afternoon with that offensive line. They need to get DeMarco Murray going but suffice to say, if they had to pick a game against a defensive front for Murray to start making some gains, the Jets would be bottom of the list or close to it. Think the Jets -2 could be a few peoples SS’s this weekend.

    Alternative Spread Treble

    Patriots -6.5 – Sunday – 6:00PM
    Jets +7.5 – Sunday – 6:00PM
    Packers -2.5 – Tuesday – 1:30AM

    Just over 13/10 @ 365 (1.34/1) – 3 points

BigB yeah it was me mate I asked Johnb. Don’t think I’ll be touching that one in any main bets though as I feel there is more sure fire wins out there (not sure I should be saying that after this weekend). If all of the markets for the weekend are out by the time the Giants game has kicked off I’ll put them in a big acca as I do fancy them to win in the Meadowlands. As long as Eli doesn’t have another 4th quarter meltdown.

  21. BigB 9 years ago

Ah okay Jordan. I knew it was a question directed to me, but I read it and figured the stats might help, but it doesn’t matter now anyway since it doesn’t seem half reliable haha

  22. Jordan 9 years ago

Haha it was directed to Johnb mate, thanks though. Do you know of any websites that gives h2h stats in the NFL. Haven’t found one in my time. Like where you can see passing/rushing stats from games played 2 years ago for example?

Jordan your Nfl bets are now 0.92/1 and 1.4/1.

I’ve backed both, fingers crossed for a good week.

  25. Bingo 9 years ago

Japan +17 on the handicap @ evens looks generous after their result against the Springboks…

  26. Jordan 9 years ago

Dynamo you’ll see them fluctuate throughout the week. It’ll be the Packers spread as its been moving, probably due to Eddie Lacys fitness but early signs are that he’ll play.

  27. BigB 9 years ago

Only just had time to go through my comment, I meant “wasn’t directed to me” Jordan haha sorry!

I don’t know what sites I can mention and what sites I can’t mention, so I might get flagged for this but have you come across odds shark dot com ? They have a fair bit of stats on there, maybe not to the extent that you are looking for, but it probably wouldn’t harm you if you were to look up some stats there?

  28. Jordan 9 years ago

You can mention sites as long as they don’t post tips mate. Stats based only.

  29. Jordan 9 years ago

I use that site for Basketball mate. Pretty good. I’m looking for something where I can pick two teams to compare though. Haven’t found one yet.

  30. BigB 9 years ago

Pro Football Reference might be something that can help you out? Under the head-to-head records tab

  31. BigB 9 years ago

Mind you, you will have to somehow check how reliable the stats are though. But it seems pretty legit, apparently, Packs have a .25 winning percentage against the Chiefs, where they won 2, lost 7 and tied 1….

  32. Jordan 9 years ago

I know mate, but I don’t consider history much when placing bets. You gotta ask yourself who was coaching, who was playing, were they home or away, how good are the teams now in comparison? For instance, Kansas City have never been to the Lambeau Field with Aaron Rodegrs under center…

  33. BigB 9 years ago

I wasn’t questioning your selection, I was just surprised that the last time they played each other was back in 2011 according to the site! But hey, I learn something new everyday haha

  34. jonhom 9 years ago

As previously mentioned, some very generous odds floating about for the rugby tomorrow.

    Japan +21.5 points
    Fiji + 31.5 points

Double pays out at just over evens.

Think both games will be fairly evenly matched. There is a slight concern that Scotland and Australia will both be fresh however I think that the fact both Japan and Fiji already have their 1st games under their belts ( both with impressive performances) will be a plus for them. Now and again a bet comes along and it just screams at me to lump on! Whilst I haven’t decided on a steak yet, this is certainly one of them!!

  35. Jordan 9 years ago

No I know mate just giving my reply. I do like it when QB‘s have good records against sides though. Like Brady’s for instance at the Gilette against Jacksonville. Won all 4 games by 11 points or more. Never scored under 27 points.

    http://www.footballdb.com/teams/nfl/new-england-patriots/teamvsteam?opp=15

Just found that site. Not really what I want but it could come in handy for division games.

  36. Jordan 9 years ago

BigB that Pro Football Reference is perfect. If you click the game previews you can check the individual match history and it gives you rush, passing and receiving stats. Nice one!

  37. Jordan 9 years ago

That site goes so in depth. Even as far as telling you who tackled on the passes or rushes. Every play for drives too. Not bad for 4 years old. Just for some clarification. The last time the Chiefs played the Packers, Kyle Orton was their QB :)

  38. Danny T 9 years ago

Jordan I have narrows it down to the Chiefs the Cowboys and the patriots ? What do you think ?

Glad you found it helpful pal! Not much tickle my fancies this week, besides Cards and the Hwaks. Both with a biggish spread, Hwaks in particular. Might dive into the stats and see what they are saying. In the mean time, don’t suppose you have any thoughts on either of the 2 games?

    • Jordan 9 years ago

BigB. Without Cutler I doubt the Bears will get much done but its a big spread for a team that is 0-2. I expect the Seahawks to win but cover that big spread, not for me.

I rarely ever bet on the Cards but I like the fact that the 49ers are on the road again. Big Ben destroyed them through the air this weekend so I expect Palmer and Fitzgerald in particular to have another good game.

  40. Jordan 9 years ago

Ok Danny. If you go for the Cowboys I can’t say you’ll have much fun this season (a bit like supporting Liverpool :) ) as their star receiver and quarterback are injured for a few months.

Patriots, current Champions, one of the best QB‘s in the NFL history, good coach (doesn’t say much) Rob Gronkowski as your Tight End who is the best in the league. But also you’re apparently a cheater (think the Patriots fans are most hated in the NFL) But other than that. Look like one of the teams to beat in the early stages.

Chiefs, good team, should have a winning record this season and maybe a playoff place. One of the best running backs in the league in Jamal Charles, quality wide receiver in Jeremy Maclin, a future star at Tight End in Travis Kelce who is in his 3rd season. Not the best QB in the world but gets the job done in Alex Smith who is a former number 1 overall pick by the 49ers. Beast of a pass rushing defence who can get to any QB. Houston and Hali. One of the loudest home stadiums in the NFL. The Tomahawk Chop is a great chant as you already know. They wear red.

I like the Chiefs but of course its not my choice. Not sure we have an out an out Chief on here so you’ll have to get yourself a headdress.

  41. Danny T 9 years ago

Cheers Jordan very informative mate lots of info to take in I shall decide in the morning and let you know buddy :-)

Haha yeah well supportinv Liverpool hasn’t been much fun for a while lol
