AFTER two days with no bets I put up a Super Single double on Thursday which was a loser.

A brilliant Brazil finish saw the destroy Ecuador 3-0 and hand the home side their first qualifying defeat at home this decade.

The good news is it's just one more quiet day before a busy weekend and then several days of World Cup qualifiers.

On Friday there are Under-21 qualifiers and Irish games to look and having finished writing Saturday's columns for the Record I'm backing an Irish double.

First up it's champions and leaders Dundalk who have won both games since crashing out of the Champions League. They should make it three at Bohemians although the price isn't great – about 1-2.

Make it a nice double with Derry at home to Galway. Derry are unbeaten in eight and not conceding silly goals while Galway have lost three on the bounce.

Bet of the Day for members only will return on Saturday and I'll start a new £20 to £250 challenge on Saturday after completing two last month.

@mr-fixit what’s the difference between “Ecuador not to lose “and picking Ecuador to win?

    • kelly.d 8 years ago

ecuador not to lose means, if they win or draw its a winner if they lost its a loser

    • mar 8 years ago

      Thanks for clarifying Kelly.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

Kelly’s explained it perfectly – it’s what it says on the tin.
Usually under double chance for betting. You can take any combo for example Ecuador not to lose, Brazil not to lose or either to win.

Does anyone have the Argentina vs Uruguay lineups?

  3. Alves 8 years ago

    Botafago v Cruizero

    Under 10.5 asian corners 1.825
    BTTS 4/5

Reasoning is last few Botafago games have seen a lack of corners including Copa games but last H2H finsihed 9-7. Same with Cruizero so taking unders and rarely do this.

    • Alves 8 years ago

      *1.875

Also gone small stakes on MLS game BTTS both halves, BTTS and over 9.5 asian corners

    • Alves 8 years ago

BTTS in before HT but 8 ht corners, the reason I never do unders ?

    One game for me tomorrow…

    DARLINGTON 1883 v KIDDERMINSTER:

Not going to put a load of spiel up but it’s Darlo again – domestically they have scored 2+ in 15 of their last 18 games but face a Kidderminster side who have started strongly and most likely will grab a goal.

No prices up yet but will be looking at:

    DARLO OVER 1.5 TGS
    BTTS & OVER 2.5 MGS

    • richb20806 8 years ago

Where tends to offer these markets mate? Was looking at the last game but they were limited

Afternoon rich – Coral usually pre-match but nothing last few games – 365 should have just prior to KO or certainly in-play

Alright guys. Been a bit of a hectic week so have not posted since Monday mornings winner in the MLS. Haven’t totaled Augusts figures but rough estimates are about 3 points up[. It’s not going to get you a new car or a room out of your mum’s basement, but it’s profit added to the figures for 2016. Will update totals tomorrow evening for those that care.

Not a big fan of internationals but I quite fancy this. Chile repeated their consecutive Copa America tile challenge and dispatched the likes of Mexico 7-0 and Colombia 2-0 along the way. They play Paraguay tonight who they have a decent record against, and with Sanchez, Vidal and Vargas starting, they should have a good start to their campaign.

Paraguay on the other hand had a dismal competition in the summer finishing bottom of their group. Not a lot of stats to back it up but Chile are the favourites and I like their goal time.

    Chile – Goal before 51:00 @ 5/6 @ 365 – 3.6 points

    • mar 8 years ago

Thanks Jordan, will run with this also. GL!

    • mar 8 years ago

oh my god…. what a goal. On the positive this will light a fire under Chile’s ass.

  8. Jordan 8 years ago

    As I’ve posted it’s shortened to 50:00.

u21 Euro Qualifers for me tonight

    Malta u21 v Belguim u21
    Romania u21 v Luxembourg u21

Belguim and Romania will win their respective matches comfortably its really a case of how many goals will be scored! No value in the win but goals should give us a run for our money

Back over 2.5 match goals double 6/4

    • theboss 8 years ago

      Looking good @gregbrowning

One more in the Romania game for the double I also did double over 3.5 so 2 more in this game and I’m laughing ??

    • snowster 8 years ago

Well done and thanks Greg. Was slightly more greedy and went o3 goal line but worked out nice so ta. Bored tonight though, nowt on!

  21. craigyboy 8 years ago

Early one for Saturday whilst there is still some value:
    League One
    Peterborough v Swindon
    BTTS and over 2.5 goals
    19/20
    Coral
Two candidates for BTTS every week, lets hope the early kick off jinx doesn’t come back to bite us on the backside as it does so often.

  22. nathanufton 8 years ago

I’ve been sticking with what I know best and continuing by riding the over half a goal in-play market. Small gains daily, no pushing my luck. Its a fresh start for me this week and hovering just under £60 from a £10 over a 2 week period.

Having seen my beloved Direby play the ” derby way ” { using my best Mr Miyagi impersonation } – apparently the ” Derby way ” means playing crap football, rarely threatening up front and being completely toothless all over the pitch. When the new owner unveiled Nigel Pearson as the new manager, I was literally very optimistic that he’d mould us into the team that we know we can be. It turns out the ” New manager affect ” has given us the opposite affect that we really wanted. So much so that only once in 5 games, I’ve advised a tip on the win market once – and that lost. It still gave me 5 winning tips from 7 but handing Burton their best ever AND only victory against Derby was quite sore. If Nigel Clough knows enough about the way we play and have been playing recently, then unless the whole squad have a third shredded wheat and swap out half fat milk for Red Bull, then after this international break, I don’t see much chance of us improving. – I wonder how long Mel Morris’s fuse is because I’d rather watch entertaining 4-3-3 with a chance of winning a game than this drivel we’re getting right now. As such, until things improve, I have to advise caution until there’s a huge improvement on match days.

On to England: Big Sam, the boss in charge, new challenge, new era. bla bla bla. Typically we tend to win 85% + of our games in qualifying and then collapse in the big tournaments. Didn’t Slovakia give us a bore-draw in the Euro’s?? Now we play them at their ground. Not a game I’m confident in, BUT new manager, new options on the pitch and a fresh approach from a highly respected manager could see the start of something good for England – or it could work against us like it is at Derby. Again, i’ll watch that match live and decide by what I’m seeing if i’ll take on anything in-play.

Monza GP: I do love my GP and I’ve made some careful observations:

Ferrari have backed out of using their upgraded engine for pre-race practice and I don’t think they have the straight line speed that Mercedes have. This is not a very windy course, its lots of speed and thus very little tyre wear, so super softs and possibly softs will probably be the way forward for most teams. Because of the nature of the track, the softer compounds last significantly longer than they do on MOST tracks, and since there’s very few corners, the difference between speeds of different tyres is so minimal, it will be a case of managing tyres. In front of their home fans, Ferrari are on the back foot in this race.
Once again last week, Vettel had a moan about another driver, maybe he should look at himself and other drivers before he points fingers. Verstappen had that corner, His team mate hit Vettel, Vettel hit Verstappen, Vettel moaned about Verstappen because he’s the new guy. – Vettel doesn’t like driving when he’s in amongst the thick of it and has to work for it, he’s a driver that succeeds if his car is better than everyone else’s and he’s at the front. Suck it up buttercup.

Rosberg is similar to Vettel, if he takes pole, avoids the first corner drama and his team mate gets bogged down/wing clipped/forced off track, then from the front he’ll do well. But if Hamilton gets on the front grid ( and his starts have been improving ) Rosberg should spend the rest of the race looking at the back end of Hamilton’s Mercedes. Mercedes manipulated the engine penalty rules last weekend and after they’d done what the did, it gave them a massive edge for the season close for Hamilton’s finale. For those who missed it, he got a 55 place grid penalty for swapping out engines and parts, so he started the Belgian race somewhere in France and still came 2nd.
This is how they did it. Practice 1: engine change + new parts, quick practice ( grid penalty for the engine change ) Engine on the shelf because they’re not happy.
Practice 2: Rinse and repeat. Practice 3: Rinse and repeat. Result = 3 fresh engines with 8 or 9 races left AND he’s already taken 2nd from the back of the grid on one of those engines.

For the rest of the calendar, he has 3 more engines, all with new parts. If he gets a good start and avoids the drama, I’d recommend taking an in-play bet on Hamilton to win the Monza GP straight after the first corner. His straight line speed is the best of the lot and they have a smaller slippier rear wing – less drag – less back end downforce.
