I DON’T remember much worse Saturdays – last week it was great and this weekend just rubbish.
A lot of faith was put in Newcastle and Hibs and they were big letdowns. Jordan, Desmond and Greg all struggled on a nightmare set of results but fair play to Scott Allot for two winners out of two.
His European treble won at 16-5 and his both to score treble won at 5-1 so if there was a man-of-the-match award he’d get it. Craigyboy deserves a mention too for confidently tipping Wolves at Newcastle.
At least my Bet of the Day for members came up – but it usually does.
After a good August I was hoping to do even better in September but I’ve moved the goalposts. I’ll be aiming to eat into the losses and try to get back to evens at the end of the month.
Sunday’s another busy day with four Premier League matches and Inverness v Celtic and Dundee v Aberdeen in Scotland. Man Utd, Spurs, Southampton and Palace should all win – but one could let us down.
Highlights on the continent include Inter v Juventus, Fiorentina v Roma, Espanyol v Real Madrid, PSV v Feyenoord and Marseille v Lyon.
I’ve been having a good look at the card and have decided to go with a double that will wipe out the Super Single losses. It’s nothing fancy – Man United and Celtic.
Man United are first up at a Watford side they’ve beaten 10 times in a row. If it’s not 11 it will be a mini crisis for Jose Mourinho who can’t allow Man City to move further away.
United lost the Manchester derby last week and Mourinho made eight changes for a limp Europa League defeat at Feyenoord. With City making it five wins out of five and looking unstoppable United must close to three points at Vicarage Road.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic was one of those who didn’t start in Holland and he’ll be back. I can see him making it five goals in five league games in a United victory. He is 6-5 at Skybet to net.
Celtic followed their 5-1 defeat of Rangers by losing 7-0 in Barcelona. They never laid a finger on the Spaniards who went goal crazy with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar all scoring and following up with goals apiece at Leganes yesterday.
With Rangers and Hearts dropping more points yesterday Celtic can soar five points clear at the top with a game in hand. Their record isn’t exemplary but under Brendan Rodgers they look rock solid defensively with only Hearts giving them a game this season.
Inverness will park the bus as they did at Aberdeen last week but even without Leigh Griffiths Celtic should have enough firepower and look to Scott Sinclair to net for the fifth league game running at 27-11 with 888sport.
I’m willing to risk 1pt on an Ibrahimovic/Sinclair double and other scorers I considered were Christian Benteke for Palace at home to Stoke and Gonzalo Higuain for Juventus. I’m tempted by Juve at just under evens as Inter were dire against Hapoel Beer Sheva but they rested a couple of players including top striker Mauro Icardi.
I’ve got a goals bet which checks out looking at stats and have added a Top Treble – Spurs to score 2+, St Etienne to beat Bastia and Real Madrid at Espanyol.
