ON Tuesday my two trebles won and the Super Single lost – on Wednesday the Super Single won thanks to Bayer Leverkusen -2 AH and the two trebles (one a long shot) were beaten.
I'm nothing but inconsistent but you can't level that criticism at Greg Browning who produced another winning nap (3+ Chelsea goals). He's on an inspired run and is that six winning naps in a row?
After the excitement of the Champions League we target the often feared Europa League and as we know it's much harder to pick results in this tournament which is seen as a distraction but some teams and treated with respect by others.
I've posted a separate Ajax v Celtic preview and my Super Single from earlier in the week was the Dutch to win at 9-10 with McBookie and BetVictor. It's dropped slightly to a best 17-20 at William Hill.
I'm also tempted by Ajax -1 at 12-5 with Stan James but in the past I've put all my eggs in one basket and as it's the Europa League I'm sticking to one Super Single.
Liverpool are one of those sides who don't really want to be involved in the Europa League and boss Brendan Rodgers has headed to Bordeaux without Christian Benteke, James Milner, Nathaniel Clyne, Martin Skrtel, Dejan Lovren and Lucas Leiva.
Divock Origi and Adam Lallana will start but without both first-choice centre-halves Liverpool could be vulnerable against a French side who drew 2-2 away to PSG at the weekend. Bordeaux look decent value at 13-8 and are 1-2 not to lose.
Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers says his side will go on the attack and be daring and with players such as Origi and Jordan Ibe they'll expect to score – both teams to net pays 19-20 at William Hill.
Teams I've considered for the Top Treble include Dortmund at home to Krasnodar, Sion at home to Rubin, Fenerbahce at home to Molde, Lech Poznan at home to Belenenses, Besiktas at Skenderbeu and St Etienne at home to Rosenborg.

After tonights Champions League ties Chelsea will be looking to get a win against Arsenal who will be picking themselves up after a trip home from Zagreb without a point to show for it. Don’t think it’ll get much better for them, their record is poor at Stamford Bridge in recent years. Chelsea have score two or more in their last 6 against Arsenal at home and I think that trend will continue. Willian and Pedro may not feature so it’ll be interesting to see who comes in. Not sure how they reverted when Willian went off.

I’ll put up my thoughts on Bury now ahead of Saturday but as always with the caveat to check any late team news.
The Mighty Shakers go into Saturday’s game on the back of 3 away wins: 1-2 local cup derby against Accy, tight 0-1 win at then top Walsall and a 1-3 victory at high-flying Sheff Utd. It’s actually 15 games since our last away defeat.
We’ll be hoping to convert the great away form into solid home form…the words ‘Fortress’ and ‘Gigg’ don’t often feature in the same sentence.
Injury-wise – recent results have come on the back of some key players missing and that’s given others a chance to step-up – they have more than done what’s been asked of them. Andrew Tutte’s hamstring injury is looking like he’ll be out for a good few weeks and that’s a blow ahead of Saturday.

I think people should be a bit cautious with Ajax. I watched their games against Jablonec (1-0 and 0-0). They didn’t create any chance in their home game and won by a penalty. They play at very low pace and I can’t see them win easy against any team in their group. Their results in the league might suggest they are in form, but they play bad and the Dutch league is very weak. I think it’s crazy to get on the 1-0 and 2-0 handicaps. Team news: Milik is expected not to start tonight.

Chelsea are currently 11/8 to beat Arsenal in the early game. Combine this with Rangers to beat Dumbarton and it pays 2.77-1 on Betway.
We all know how Rangers are flying at the moment and yes they are probably due a stumble but I doubt it will happen at Dumbarton. However Chelsea to beat Arsenal at 11/8 seems very generous to me even given last nights results. Chelsea have a superb record against Arsenal at home in recent times and if Mourinho could have picked a match to get his teams league season back on track I think Arsenal at home would be one of them. He will look to wind up Wenger in the coming days in the media and get under his skin and it usually works.
I just feel that with last nights results for both teams the balance in confidence has swung in Chelsea’s favour and they will get the win against an Arsenal side with some very tough games coming up.
I reckon a fairly solid double!
@chris I think the bookies had put the odds mostly down to league form. Which obviously looking at the league Chelsea is very poor. Arsenal were dia last nite but had much tougher game away than Chelsea. So I wouldn’t back Chelsea judging on those results. I’d slightly favour Chelsea. Luke, cheers I for one will be backing them! I realise Maccabi might not be the game to judge a turn in fortunes for Chelsea, but given their home record against Arsenal in recent years, Mourinho’s overall record against Wenger (will be determined for revenge after the CC defeat) and Arsenal’s tendency to get stage freight there (and in other big league games barring Man City away last season) I just feel Chelsea with the confidence boost of last night will roll them over.

Finally, I didn’t see the Toronto game but having watched them lose at the weekend, it does not surprise me that they missed loads of chances. They looked so naive against the NE Revolution. Awful at the back and utterly wasteful in attack.
It’s been a hard couple of days for me, and I wouldn’t advise anyone to bet hard on the games tonight. I will check back in later with some small stakes tips.

I will be focusing on the two Emglish teams tonight as the Europa League is a tough competition to find winners. I am starting with the early kick off between Bordeaux – Liverpool.
Liverpool are left some big names at home and will be giving their squad players a game, but this could be a tough one for them. Bordeaux have won 3 of their 4 home games this season. Liverpool have shipped in six goals in their last two games and with a makeshift defence, I want to be with Wahbi Khazri. He as scored 3 in 3 this season with two coming at home. I will be with the midfielder at 10/3 Bet365
In the Tottenham game, they face off against FK Qarabag. Tottenham haven’t had the best start to the season, while their opponents haven’t lost in 10 games and knocked out Young Boys to reach the group stages.
Qarabag are not prolific scorers and 4 of Tottenham’s 5 games have gone under 2.5 goals. I would be tempted to go overs however their is question marks weather Harry Kane will start or not. If he does I will take the evens at Skybet, he is odds on to score and I will double him up with a scorer in the Rugby or NFL if he starts.
For now I am going on the assumption he starts on the bench leaving Tottenham with Son and Lamela rotating as the main striker, and I will take a chance on Lamela. Pochettino has said it is a big season for him and it is make or break for him. It is a risky bet, but he did score 3 in last season completion and is worth a punt at 13/5 Stan James.
I will be driving home before the Liverpool game so as always check the team news before placing your bets, and I will add the overs and Kane double if he starts later tonight.

18:00 Bordeaux vs Liverpool – Prediction – 1.0 – Suggested Bets – Bordeaux to win @7/4, draw no bet @5/6
Liverpool face Bordeaux in France this evening after losing to West Ham and Manchester United in the Premier League and I don’t expect them to win here with Christian Benteke, James Milner, Nathaniel Clyne, Martin Skrtel, Dejan Lovren and Lucas Leiva all left out of the squad for the first round of Europa Leage group games.
Bordeaux are also missing some key players with the likes of Sane, Sertic, Plasil, Diabate and Toure all missing through injury but they did manage a 2.2 draw in Paris at the weekend against PSG even with a weakened team and they should give Liverpool a hard game tonight.
The home side have won 8 of their previous 11 home Europa league fixtures over the past 3 years but they haven’t really beaten anyone with the name of a Liverpool in that time. In the league they have lost just 3 in 25 at home, winning 8 of their last 12 including wins over PSG and Marseille with just 1 defeat, so this is a squad capable of a big result on their day.
The home side are a big 7/4 to win or 5/6 draw no bet and I might give them a chance here with liverpool for me unlikely to win given their form and weakened squad.
Europe – Europa League Grp. D
18:00 Napoli vs Club Brugge – Prediction – 2.1 – Suggested Bets – BTTS @5/6, Napoli clean sheet – NO @ 4/6
Both of these sides are struggling to find form with Bruges losing 4 of their last 5 and Napoli yet to win any of their opening 3 fixtures in Serie A.
Goals are possible here with Napoli in particularly generous mood these days, leaking 15 goals in their last 7 competitive fixtures and keeping just 2 clean sheets from their last 12 at home.
Bruges put up a decent showing in their 3.1 first leg loss at Man Utd in their Champions League qualifying round and while the 2nd leg was much more comfortble for the English side, Bruges are capable in this tournament, losing only 1 in 16 fixtures last season as they reached the quarter finals before losing to eventual finalists Dnipro who in turn knocked out Napoli in the semi-finals.
4 of Napoli’s 7 home fixtures in this competition last season saw BTTS but given their current defensive issues, I fancy the away side can make this a BTTS game @4/5 odds. Bruges managed to score in 6 out of 8 away Europa League games last season, scoring a very healthy 17 goals in the process as they recorded wins in 6 of those 8 away ties and you can back them to score 1 or more @4/6/
I expect Napoli to get the points but I won’t be betting on the hosts who are only 1/2 to get their first win of the season as I prefer the likelyhood of goals with the Belgians a capable side who did well in this competition last season and Napoli leaking 6 goals in their opening 3 league fixtures of the season.

A home win is being tipped up by many today and I can’t see past Ajax at 4/5 against a Celtic team that have been knocked out of Europe 4 times in 13 months which by anyones standards is a pretty dismal record.
Norwegian boss Deila has been suffering of late with Champions League elimination a painful pill to swallow at the hands of Malmo before a defeat at title rivals Aberdeen this weekend will have hit his and his teams confidence further.
Historically, Celtic are awful on the road in Europe, winning just 1 of their previous 15 away Europa League ties going back to 2004, that a 1.0 win in Sion in 2011. with 7 draws and 7 defeats. Oh, they actually lost to Sion but were awarded the tie thanks to Sion’s fielding of inelligible players.
Champions League results are, as you would expect, just as poor with 7 wins from 40, going back 12 years and only 1 of those was a group fixture. When you consider that Malmo and Maribor are just 2 of the teams to beat the Hoops in the past year, it stands to reason that they won’t be good enough to get anything here in Amsterdam.
Ajax have won 12 of their last 15 at home in the league but are of course nowhere near the force they once were, but they have won 5 of their last 8 at home in this tournament and also beat Celtic 2 years ago in the Champions League. At that time, Celtic were probably stronger and Ajax have improved in that time so I expect nothing less than a home win here.

18:00 Borussia Dortmund vs FC Krasnodar – Prediction 3.1 – Suggested Bets – BTTS @5/6, BTTS and over 2.5 goals @21/20
An interesting fixture from Germany sees red hot Dortmund face an under-rated and rapidly improving Krasnador side who have achieved some very impressive results in the Russian Premier League both at the end of last season and coming into the new campaign.
The visitors have lost only 3 in 25 fixtures domestically, and only 3 in 22 away games which included a fine 2.0 win at Zenit last month. Most recently they record a thumping 4.0 home win over Dinamo Moscow this past Saturday so confidence will be high for the visitors.
The Russsians have lost just 2 of their previous 8 away Europa League fixtures, including a surprise win at Everton last season and while I don’t expect them to beat Dortmund tonight, I feel they are capable of scoring at least 1 having managed that feat in 11 of 12 fixtures in last years event.
Dortmund are in some terrific form right now having won their first 7 fixtures of the campaign, scoring a stunning 25 goals but they have also leaked 9, including 5 over 2 games to Norwegians Odd BK in the previous round of this competition. BTTS is priced @5/6 and has to have a chance considering Dortmund’s attacking nature and the fact their opponents are not the pushovers the 1/5 win odds on Dortmund would suggest.
Can they score? the visitors are a capable bunch who have scored in 22 of their last 26 away, competitive fixtures and I fancy them to continue that run tonight. They’ve managed to score on the road at the likes of Everton, Lille, Wolfsburg, Zenit, all of the Moscow teams including Spartak and CSKA and I like their chances of scoring again here.
5 of Dortmund’s last 6 have seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals and I’m gonna take a chance on that as I do expect the Germans quality to shine through in the end in what should be a decent game at the Westfalenstadion.
Europe – Europa League Grp. E
18:00 Rapid Wien vs Villarreal – Prediction -2.2 – Suggested Bets – BTTS @4/6, BTTS and over 2.5 @6/5
Goals could be on the cards here wit with both sides showing good form in the market in recent European fixtures.
The hosts have seen BTTS in 7 of their last 9 home European fixtures, and 14 out of 18 overall in the last 2 years. More recently, 8 of their last 11 in competitive fixtures have seen BTTS.
Rapid knocked Ajax out of the Champions League qualifying (5.4 on aggregate) before succumbing to Shakthar in the final qualifying stage but they scored 6 goals in those fixtures and I expect them to put up a good performance here.
Villareal have produced a BTTS outcome in 7 of their last 8 in the Europa League, including 4 of their last 5 away while their first 3 LA Liga fixtures have also produced BTTS.
BTTS looks likely @8/11 while the BTTS and over 2.5 goals bet has a good chance as well.

Groningen’s last European outing saw them knocked out of last season’s competition to Aberdeen with a 2.1 home defeat so it’s hard to imagine they will now be good enough to beat Marseille here but I do fancy the BTTS chances @8/11 odds with the hosts almost always scoring when they play at home.
Indeed Groningen have scored in 30 of their last 32 home games in the Eredivisie which is a pretty good record for a team that have little European history to call upon.
Marseille are really something of a jekyll and hyde team, and they have lost 4 of their last 6 Ligue 1 games on the road while clean sheets are rare with just 5 in 20 away league games and I fancy we could see a share of the spoils here and BTTS is my preferred selection @4/5.
Marseille are definitely the stronger side but the hosts are capable at home, losing just 2 in 25 and I think they can earn a point here with BTTS a good possibility.

An interesting fixture from Spain with Bundesliga side Augsburg under-dogs, but not to be ruled out against their more illustrious opponents Bilbao.
Augsburg seem to raise their game against bigger opponents and a look at their results for 2015 demonstrate what I mean. They have won 7 out of 22 Bundesliga fixtures since Christmas with those wins coming against Moenchengladbach twice, Dortmind, Bayern Munich, Wolfsburg, Hoffenheim and Stuttgart. They beat each of the top 3 teams and Dortmund but lost to the likes of Ingolstadt, Hertha, Hannover, Paderborn, Hamburg, Freiburg, Werder Bremen and Mainz. Clearly this is a team that can raise their game and I have a feeling they might do that tonight.
Bilbao are 8/13 favourites and they have won their last 2 home fixtures but they struggled past Zilina in the previous round, edging to a 1.0 win having lost the first leg 3.2 and with an away game at Villareal on Sunday, they might have their focus distracted from the job in hand.
BTTS has a good chance with Augsburg scoring in 8 of their last 10 away league fixtures and BTTS occurring in 6 of those 10. Bilbao have scored in 16 of their last 18 at home and they would be likely to do so here against an Augsburg side who have just 3 clean sheets from 17 away league fixtures.
Augsburg have never played in Europe before so this is a huge occasion for a team that only made it the Bundesliga for the first time 5 years ago and having finished 5th in the division last season, the “minnows” have earned the right to play in arenas such as these and I really fancy them to get a positive result here. BTTS is a big 11/10 and I think it has more than half a chance.
I’m tempted to back a shock away win @11/2 although the 13/10 on Augsburg not to lose is a safer but still tempting bet while BTTS has to be worth a punt on one of my goal trebles.

The price could be better but a home win looks likely here for a Sporting team that have better quality in the attacking areas and a strong record on their own patch.
The hosts have lost just 1 in 20 competitive fixtures, winning 9 of their last 11 at home while they have won 3 of their last 5 at home in European competition with wins over Maribor, and Schalke in last season’s Champions League and more recently they beat CSKA Moscow in the first leg of Champions League qualifying before losing in Moscow and dropping down to this event.
Lokomotiv didn’t do anything in Europe last season after being humbled by Apollon Limassol aand while they have 4 of their last 5 on the road in Russia, they usually lose when stepping it up against better oposition.
The price is a little short @8/13 but I do think the home side will do enough to win, given their recent form and a strong home record in particular.

Last season’s surprise package and beaten finalists Dnipro will be confident of upsetting Lazio tonight at a big price of 6/4 with the Italians not in the best of form at the minute and Dnipro holding a terrific home record.
The Ukranian outfit won 6 of their 8 home fixtures in this tournament last year, including each of their last 5 without conceding a goal in any of those excellent wins. Napoli, Bruge, Ajax, Olympiakos and Saint Etienne all went home without a goal or a point and I fancy Lazio could be their next victim here.
Star man Evgen Konoplyanka has departed for Sevilla but I feel they have enough to grind down an out of sorts Lazio.
Dnipro are in good form, winning their last 5 fixtures in Ukraine while Lazio have lost their last 3 in a row on the road , 5 if you include pre season defeats at Mainz and Anderlecht followed by crushing losses at Leverkusen, Juventus and most recently Chievo who spanked them 4.0 just 2 weeks ago.
I’m taking the home win at a big price with Lazio unlikely to fancy this one with a big game in Napoli to come on Sunday and Dnipro proving to be a tough nut to crack on their own patch.

I like the chances of goals in Florence as Swiss outfit Basel take on a Fiorentina side that are strong at home, winning each of their last 5 home fixtures in Tuscany.
While Fiorentina have kept clean sheets in each of their last 4 wins, the opponents have been mostly modest in the shape of Chievo, Parma and the slightly stronger genoa and Milan but Basel have scored in 36 of their last 38 away games stretching back 18 months in all competitions and that’s a record I can’t ignore. They did fail to score in away European games at Ludogorets and Porto but they did score in Madrid against Real and at Anfield as they knocked out Liverpool in last seasons Champions League and are usually a strong opponent in European competitions.
The visitors were suprisingly knocked out of the Champions League qualifiers earlier this season to Maccabi Tel Aviv via away goals but they are unbeaten in 15, winning 13 of those while they last failed to score on the road 16 games and 6 months ago in that 4.0 loss to Porto in the last 16 of the Champions League but since then they have scored in every one of their games bar 1 with over 2.5 goals scored in 8 of Basel’s last 10 games in the Europa League suggesting goals are possible here.

Just posting another bet I’ll be on for Saturday. A few bookies have this market priced up at odds on, one even @ 8/15. Real Madrid at home against Granada. A tie that has seen Madrid win 16-1 over the last four h2h’s. Last season they scored 9 at home, with Ronaldo scoring 5, and only once on the road. He has scored at home in every game vs the visitors and with just his goals alone over the four games at the Bernabeu, the aggregate would be 9-2. I have no problem answering your questions. Thanks for the feedback.
First of all. 16 selections and not 20, and secondly 4 of the first 9 won, 1 was void. So not 2 out of 10 or 20. Don’t let the facts get in the way of your criticism though :)
I don’t think it is unusual to do the same selection in two different bets. Mr fixit does this frequently and I’ve never heard anyone really complain so not sure what the problem with that is.
I was confident Bruge could score so I backed BTTS and Brugge alone to score. Again, not controversial. They didn’t manage it but that’s life.
Secondly, perhaps you don’t understand the bets I’ve made in some regard. I fancied Bordeaux to win but at least to draw, so i backed them to win in a small stakes line and “draw no bet” which returns the stake if they draw on the more important treble. They drew. So it wasn’t a disaster. Void bet.
I didn’t bet on a team to draw and then the same team to win in a different which is the same regarding Augsburg, who are winning by the way (11/2 shots.
I suggested they won’t lose and could win so I backed both possibilities in very small stakes bets. The point being, I believed they would get a positive result and they are doing ok so far no? If they win, both bets win. If they draw, 1 wins. Do you understand?
The rapid wien game you mention was a winner in both cases for BTTS and BTTS and over 2.5 goals so again, don’t see an issue with that.
Furthermore, I did explain earlier in the day, that I had lost many hours due to my computer installing 109 updates! so I had very limited time to do all the write ups, only focusing on a select band of games.
I hope this answers your questions. I did suggest small stakes only tonight, I did say that it’s a tough competition and in the end, I’m in profit for the 6 months that I have been betting my bankroll so my bets have done fine.

Caught my eye as bookies are pricing it for a massacre but saw it was 0-0 in the reverse game and from what I can tell Queretaro had a pretty much full strength side out.

On paper this one should be a no-brainer but we are talking about South America here so nothings a given…handle with care if having a go.
Still, 6th placed Sao Paulo should have enough to earn the points and after a rare defeat were bang back on track beating 3rd place Gremio last time out.
Both teams have had a fairly heavy but similar recent schedule so that should be relative.
One stat that stands out is that Chapecoense have suffered three seperate 3-1 defeats in as many weeks…all to sides in and around the top of the table. A 3-1 scoreline pays 14/1 but I’m not a big fan of correct scores.

I would also agree that form is more relevant than historical context “ilovebetting” ibut it is not to be discounted in my opinion. Thistle have a good record at Ross, winning 2 out of 4, losing 1 and historical context can be just as important factor in some match ups. Plenty of teams struggle at various places or have good records at various places and it does have an impact.
Besides, Thisle have drawn 4 of their last 5 away and only lost 2 in 10 on the road. How should that make Ross an odds on favourite?

Look at the Milan derby last weekend. Under 2.5 goals in each of the last 6. Delivered at 19/20 on the day. Are you telling me that these patterns are irrelevant?
Barca v Real matches are always ripe for BTTS and over 2.5 goals, is that a fluke? or is it because of how they match up against each other?
I’m not arguing that a result from 5 years ago makes a difference but losing 1 in 4 at a particular destination is good form and that might give Thistle a lift. Maybe they are thinking “hey we won here last season, why not again?”
I just think it’s silly to say past meetings are irrelevant when for me it is one factor that I always consider and analyse when their is a history. Football betting is not only about form, but also factors in a whole host of variables that make it such a difficult thing to be good at.
Form, both home and away, team-news, geography, weather, morale, past meetings, and any other statistical patterns you discover are all important details in forming a bet.
That’s my 2 cents anyways. Good luck with the selection.

Looking at tomorrow’s card before clocking off for tonight and defiantly like the look of Bochum who are at home to fortuna Düsseldorf side who are currently sitting fourth bottom with 1 win and 1 draw from six games where as on the other hand Bochum have won 5 and drew one out of 6 with a goal differnce of +8 (joint best in league) compared to fortuna’s goal difference of -1 just think Bochum at home are a very strong team and have only conceded 3 goals from six game
Going with Bochum to win at 17/20 and maybe Bochum to score 17/20 if people aren’t sure about the win

Nick, I watch a bit of S American football and usually its alright to follow with at least some decent touches. That 45 minutes was the most abysmal effort i’ve ever witnessed. Every pass was hoofed out of touch…shocking and I’m embarrassed to have tipped and watched it.

I like to consider myself as a South American football value hunter, but sadly that does mean watching SA football and some of it is utterly dire, basically Conference level with some more pace and trickery. Often ludicrous shots from 40 yards going nowhere near and rank amateur finishing. It’s infuriating at times…. but with it comes some long odds.
