Sep 16: Mr Fixit’s Top Tips

MRF_TopTips_Marathonbet

I LOST 2pts on the Europa League and maybe it should have been a day when I risked nothing.

You can pick winners in this tournament but it’s not easy with so many sides seemingly disinterested – Man Utd, Inter and Bilbao to name but three.

Jordan was one who succeeded with Dundalk scoring right at the death away to AZ.

At this time of the week I’m fully focused on my weekend tips but having finished my Daily Record column I’ve picked out a couple of bets before heading for a busy night on the sports desk. I’m just hoping Joey Barton doesn’t send out any twilight tweets as he did yesterday.

The big game tonight is of course Chelsea v Liverpool and we should see a few goals. Tne out of 12 have seen both to score I’m taking that on a treble.

Other top games include Sampdoria v AC Milan in Serie A and Caen v PSG in France. After beating my last week I refuse PSG at 1-2 but like the look of Sampdoria against a Milan side who have started with two losses.

Add Samp not to lose on the treble and complete with Cork at home to Shamrock Rovers. With Dundalk distracted by Europe Cork have a small chance of pushing them all the way in the title race and should beat a side they thumped 5-0 in the FAI Cup last week.

Jordan’s tipped Real Betis striker Ruben Castro to score against Granada and the stats he quoted are amazing so check them out. On the strength of his write-up I’m happy to risk 1pt on Castro to score first.

There are the goal-laden Dutch Jupiler league games to look at and Greg’s put some goals tips featuring them and the French Ligue 2 games.

Remember to check out WeLoveBetting for their latest tips and video chat.

Rashford was the loneliest player on the park – and that includes the keepers. At one point in the first half you could see him signaling teammates to come further upfield. It was like he was the only Utd player with permission to venture into the Feyenoord half. May as well not have played.

Dundalk did me proud despite being down a man in Alkmaar but you need the rub of the green sometimes. Tonight I’m heading to Spain. Granada are usually around the relegation zone at the end of the Spanish season and they’re lurking there already only three games in. They head to Betis who are coming off a 3-2 victory at the Mestalla so will be in high spirits. Ruben Castro is Betis’ main man and has five of their four goals this season with a brace last weekend and twice at the Nou Camp. Over the past two seasons he has scored 23 of their 39 La Liga goals which is an incredible percentage over 41 games. I expect him to be in the action tonight and if Betis are to continue their form, they’ll need him to be at his best.

Looks a good bet. Jordan. I flagged him up after the Barca game. The veterans striker is also chasing a club record.
With 125 goals in 210 games he is at the heart of everything attacking wise for Betis.

Surely he will be after his first league goal in front of the home fans. For small stakes 2+ goals has a realistic chance 👍

    CHELSEA v LIVERPOOL:

Chelsea have been ticking over nicely and certainly look like a side with goals in them this campaign – much like Liverpool who are entertaining as hell to watch but a bit of a liability at the back…goals anyone?

I thought Costa was in un-red-able on this seasons evidence! He needs more protection you’ll hear them crow! Be careful refs or you’ll run him out of the league they’ll say! Basically the same they used to say about Suarez. How about they play by the same rules as everyone else is my view. Hopefully the ref does his job tonight. Good luck

Morning gents – small stakes last night was definitely the right approach to take after night of surprises!

It’s Friday so that’s means my usual focus on the French and Dutch games

    Tours v Nimes KO 7pm

This is a fixtures I’ve been on in the past and with goals being the focus! Both these sides are scoring and conceding and although expect Tours to win this we should see both sides contributing to lead us to over 2.5 goals! The last 7 matches between these two have gone that, going for it to be 8 in a row!

Back over 2.5 match goals 11/10 (Coral) (NAP)

7 out of 8 matches in this league finished over 1.5 goals last week and you usual get some decent value on over 1.5 goals

    Two i fancy

    Valenciennes v Ajaccio
    Troyes v Niort

    Over 1.5 goals double 1/1

Will be on the usual loose change goals bets in both leagues!

    Achilles v Telstar
    Oss v Fc Eindhoven
    Fortuna v Cambur

Over 2.5 goals treble pays just under 7/2

  18. Profile photo of leroy
    leroy 3 months ago

Not the deepest of Friday cards today. As with last night, it will be a night of small stakes for me. I’ll be on the following double:

Selingenporten v Unterhaching O2.5 Match Goals
    Maastricht v Jong Ajax BTTS

    Double @ 11/10 (StanJames)

Of course, I’m as interested as any in the Chelsea/Liverpool game this evening. As a Chelsea fan, I might have a slightly skewed outlook on the game, though usually I’m one more for pessimism than optimism. I like goals here, especially Liverpool to get 1 or 2. Their Under 54:00 goal time on Bet365 particularly tempts.

However, one aspect of the game that might be more predictable is its feisty nature. No doubt Liverpool shall do their best to rile up Diego Costa, and no doubt he will be happy to be provoked. I just missed Unibet going 17/10 on Costa to be carded, but picked up the below anyhow.

Diego Costa to be shown a card @ 7/5 (Unibet)

Good luck to all tonight. I’ve got to get on with packing up my things and heading back to Uni. Of course, I’ve got to find time to watch the game AND take a peek at Saturdays card, too. 😉 Busy day ahead!

Can’t keep my eyes off the fact Wolves are nearly 6/1 to win at Newcastle on Saturday.
After Newcastle’s 6-0 away win and Wolves’ 4-0 collapse to Barnsley you might think I am slightly mad.
It would be in typical Championship fashion for this to go the opposite way to the bookies thinking. A few factors behind my logic:
    – Newcastle complacency
    – Wolves determination to bounce back (not that we were bad against Barnsley)
    – Zenga is likely to drop the players from the previous management and bring into the line up the newer players from Benfica and Monaco.
    – Newcastle fans expectation – they’ll be expecting to be 1-0 up after half an hour and could get frustrated.

Personally whilst I won’t be throwing silly money at this it’s seems very plausible to me for Wolves to get something from the game. I’ll either end up with egg on my face come Saturday evening or I’ll look like a betting king. Loving the odds of 5/1 on Dadi Bodvarrson to net anytime especially when you consider other firms are offering 3/1.

    Bet to consider:
    Wolves to win
    57/10

    Wolves draw no bet
    75/19

    Wolves double chance
    6/4 (NB)

    Wolves over 1.5TG
    4/1

    Bodvarrson anytime scorer
5/1 (NB2) ***Great value when you compare him to Nouha Dicko at 7/2 (who hasn’t played football for over 12months and won’t be in the squad)

    Wolves goal before 79.00
    Evens (NAP)

Might be worth hanging on as I would expect people to be throwing the money on Newcastle. Wolves could be as big as 6/1 come kick off.

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
      Mr Fixit 3 months ago

It’s a brave call to take Wolves. Newcastle were maybe complacent at the start of the season but not now.
Scarily Benitez said they can play much better than they did in midweek when they won 6-0 at QPR.

      • Profile photo of craigyboy
        craigyboy 3 months ago

On paper and on form Newcastle should beat Wolves I completely agree but when you consider a ten hour+ round trip in midweek which would have disrupted Newcastle’s preparation more than Wolves you could make a case for this game going out the form book.
I just think Wolves have been completely overlooked because of the score lines on Tuesday. Wolves played okay. It was a fascinating game. Had Wolves got the first goal, it could have been Wolves that had won 4-0. On another day it would have been 3-3 at HT. Very end to end.
As it is I reckon Wolves will sit in with Costa likely to start on the wing which will offer pace on the break. If we can frustrate them for half an hour I don’t see why Wolves can’t take the game to them. Costa looks an exciting player in the two cameos I’ve seen of him. Barnsley couldn’t get near him.
It’s all about opinions I just think there’s no pressure on Wolves and that will suit us down to the ground.

        • Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
          Mr Fixit 3 months ago

I tipped Newcastle strongly to win the league and I like what I’m seeing.
I read somewhere that Newcastle’s performance was the best ever away in the Championship – 29 shots at goal too.
They rested Dwight Gayle and have a big squad not to worry too much about a midweek game.
Also – would they not have flown to London? I would have thought so but not sure.

Looking at the Cards & Team Cards Index market with PaddyPower

    Chelsea v Liverpool
Chelsea over 10 team booking points

    Real Betis v Granada
    Over 50 total booking points

    Double EVS (NAP)

    ****************************

    Chelsea over 20 booking points

    Granada over 30 booking points

    Double 2.8/1 (NB)

    ****************************

Chelsea have picked up over 10 booking points in all 4 of their Premier League games under Antonio Conte and in West Ham, Watford, Burnley and Swansea have played sides – with all due respect – with far less attacking verve and energy than Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp’s men have of course already been to Arsenal and Tottenham early in this new season and on both occasions the home sides received over 10 booking points with the likes of Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho in particular drawing numerous fouls from those famous lightning quick counter attacks. I fully expect Liverpool to get at Chelsea tonight in the same way they did in those games and if they can nick an early goal or take the lead I think the fouls will start to rack up from the home side.

Add to that the history between these clubs and the fact it is a Friday night TV fixture and I am pretty hopeful we should see Mr Atkinson get his cards out a few times. Remember from an individual point of view the likes of Diego Costa and David Luiz will be lining up for the Blues, characters who are prone to picking up cards regardless of the type of game or opposition!

Real Betis and Granada last faced off in March and that particular meeting between the pair saw an incredible 14 cards given out including 2 reds. In the past 5 league meetings between the sides there have been 35 yellows and 5 reds given out and for good measure there was also a red shown in a friendly between the sides a year ago. More specifically, in the past 4 games played at Betis (including the aforementioned game) the card numbers have been 14-5-9-8 – averaging 9 per game, or even without the crazy March meeting, 7 per game.

Granada in particular were amongst the most reliable teams in La Liga for cards last season (particularly away from home) as they battled against the drop and early indications this season are that they are in for a similar struggle this time around which should bode well again. Meanwhile Betis have been shown card counts of 3-0-4 so far in this Liga season. I think it is safe to say we can write off the 0 as an anomaly (particularly as they committed 20 fouls that game!) so otherwise they are looking good cards wise too.

Furthermore, we have a preferable referee for this one in Carlos Del Cerro. The 40-year-old showed 150 cards (9 red) in 24 La Liga & Copa Del Rey clashes last season at an average of 6.25 per game. Although he only issued 4 bookings in his one Liga outing so far this season he did give out 6 cards in an U21 international a couple of weeks ago and 10 cards including a red across two qualifying games for the Champions League and Europa League in July & August, all of which suggests he is still as potent as ever!

Personally really looking forward to the game at the Bridge however – should be a corker and I’ve seen a lot of people tipping btts & overs which I fully agree with. Whatever you’re on tonight GL all

I drew a blank last night in the NFL so back to the football for me today and there’s a few bets I like the look of tonight.
I will follow suit with most people’s punt of the Chelsea – Liverpool game having goals as I believe it will have a few.
Elsewhere in Serie A I think Sampdoria are over priced at 2/1 at home to beat Milan. Although they have not beat Milan since 2011 they have had a great start to the season and lie 5th in the table after a last gasp Totti winner put them to the sword in Rome in their last game. Milan on the other hand have lost two from three so far and really do not posses the quality they once had. That being said I will be backing the home side.

    Chelsea – Liverpool over 2.5 goals 4/6
    Sampdoria double chance 8/15 5pts

    Sampdoria to win 2/1 1pt

everyone else is doing it, so figured it was time to share my thoughts for tonight, i’m all about goals, so here’s six beauties for your consideration

first we’re off to the czech druha league and the bottom of the table clash beteween usti nad laben and pardubice, both teams havent won for 4 games and are both have only one win so far from the six games of the new season, but interestingly they both regularly, the home side in 5/6 games and the away in 4/6 so i’m hoping they will do similarly today, altho its often the case when teams in poor form face each other that they negate things, i may have talked myself out of this one already!! over 2.5 8/11, 1.5 1/4 for accumulating

next into the austrian esrte liga and i will look no further than second placed LASK linz v lustenau, home team have scored in every game they’ve palyed this season and have conceded in 7/9, away side sit 4th and have also scored in every game, and conceded in 7 also. over 2.5 4/6

next onto holland and i’ve come up with three selections that have also been spotted by greg and leroy above, namely
    fortuna sittard v cambuur over 2.5 8/15
mvv maastricht v jong ajax over 2.5 1/2
    achilles v telstar over 2.5 8/15

finally into the french second and tours v nimes over 2.5 at evens

combining all six over 2.5 into an accumulator paying just over 20/1 with skybet, so i’ll have that then remove the czech game as i really have sown the seed of doubt in my mind now! and i’ll add over 1.5 at caen, troyes, 1860 munich floridsdorfer (or team fur wien) and clermont foot paying about 45/1 for the ten fold! crazy, but its what i do best, low stakes, big odds and hover over that cashout button!

    good luck

so far so good, usti nad laben just gone 2-0 ahead, so 25 mins for a third goal.
      LASK is 1-1 at ht
the two early ko over 1.5s are both in before ht
      i remain very hopeful!

that nagging doubt in my mind proved correct and it ended 2-0 in Czech Republic! far from a sterile game tho, heaps of chances, on another day it couldve been 4-3!
      other acc still alive tho!

    Are there any Irish experts reading who could maybe steer me away from placing an Irish treble on;

Drogheda (not yet got Europa spot wrapped up and not dropped much at home this season)
UCD (battling for third and that other Europa spot. Beat Ramblers 2-0 in the same fixture 3 months ago. Ramblers also only won 2/8 away fixtures)
Waterford ( playing the leagues whipping boys who have managed just one point away in 14 fixtures!)

Treble almost pays 4/1 with bet365. Almost seems too good to be true which generally means it is and I’m missing something important.

    Austria NEUSTADT v KAPFENBERG.

SUMMARY: The wheels appears to of completely fallen off for NEUSTADT this season under new manager Wagner who took over the helm in April , losing 6 on the bounce on home soil! They conceded 16 and scored 3 in those 6 games, and one particular defeat that really shocked me was the 0-3 hammering by Floridsdorfer, a team whom really don’t travel well. I’ve noted there appears to be a lot of youth throughout the team and maybe they are lacking experienced heads. Unfortunately for them, this afternoon they entertain one of my favourite away team specialists, KAPFENBERG ! If you remove teams in and around top three over the last 12 months, their away form is nothing short of outstanding . I usually tip goals for KAPFENBERG , but recently their goal scoring exploits haven’t quite been as predictable, as such I’m going to back a straight AWAY WIN 6/5. 5 points.
Hoping for a change of fortune, been on a mini blip as late! Ever since I introduced a betting record! 😳

Hi one and all from sunny DK.
I have had a bit of time to finally research the super liga game kicking off at 17.00 GTM.

    Esbjerg vs Randers.

The home side have really struggled so far this season, but seem to have turned a corner of home soil (where scoring is concerned anyway).

They won their first game of the season at home last time out 3-2 against OB.

Randers are traditionally a step g physical team who like to keep it tight. But their two reliable central defenders are both suspended and therefore a central midfielder by the name of Angersen will fill in.

As highlighted before Esbjerg find it impossible to keep a clean sheet and this leads me to my bet (NAP)
    BTTS @1.75 bet365
    NB BTTS + Overs @2.25

    GL tonight.

    As promised @hosay 😉
