MY £20 to £250 challenge ended in the cruellest of losses as the shortest-priced bet I’ve taken was beaten.
After Southampton scored early against Sparta Prague all I needed was an Inter Milan goal at home to Hapoel Beer Sheva – the Israelis who shipped five goals at Celtic Park in the Champions League qualifiers.
But Inter put on a shoddy show to crash 2-0. I didn’t care about the result – all I wanted was a goal.
Greg Browning advised me to wait until Friday or Saturday but I failed to heed his advice on what is a Europa League minefield.
What’s important to remember is I lost £20 – and for anyone doing challenges they should set their stall out to go all the way or take the money and run when they feel like doing so.
There are no hard and fast rules – its your choice. I could have covered Inter not to score but that’s not in the spirit of my challenge.
The thread will continue to thrive and I will have a break on Friday and start again on Saturday.
Inter to score (8.05pm)
Southampton to score (8.05pm)
