I PUT up three Saturday Super Singles and with two winners – Rangers -2 and Morecambe – I was close to wiping out the deficit caused almost solely by Hearts on Friday night. One more Rangers goal would have done it.
With the accumulators it was a tale of near misses – Dunfermline beating the homes and Top Treble and one goal short in the Scottish (Dunfermline again) and English both teams to score treble. A late Motherwell equaliser beating me for three aways.
It was that kind of day and well done to everyone who posted winners including Greg Browning with another successful nap and thechief with his Anders Herrera to score tip which I and many others jumped on.
Scott Allott landed his 11-2 both teams to score treble thanks to Eintracht Frankfurt v Cologne, Atletico Madrid v Barcelona and Preston v Derby and Ryan Allan almost won a 350-1 made line – losing out on the last leg when Barca hit a late winner.
As I always say it’s not just about me – especially when I’ve got a busy weekend working at the Daily Record and Sunday Mail.
Sunday’s another busy one with Premier League matches featuring Sunderland v Spurs and Leicester v Aston Villa with the Foxes being well backed. In the Championship it’s Fulham v Blackburn.
I’m tempted by Leicester who remain unbeaten under Claudio Ranieri and Fulham should beat a Blackburn side that’s only scored two in four games and doesn’t seem to have recovered from the sale of Rudy Gestede to Villa.
At Sunderland best bet could be both to score as Dick Advocaat’s men have netted in all of their games this season but look dodgy at the back. After netting in England’s two games last week Harry Kane is worth a look at 13-10 with 888sport to open his season’s account for Spurs and is 4-1 to break the deadlock.
There are games all over the continent with the big one being the Milan derby.
I’ve been checking form, stats and team news and for the Top Treble I’ve decided to go with Marseille at home to Bastia, Athletic Bilbao at home to Getafe and Celta Vigo at home to Las Palmas.
Marseille have made a solid start under new coach Michel and their home form is solid. They have scored at least two goals in 17 of their last 20 at the Velodrome and beaten Bastia in five of their last six. The islanders are better at home and Marseille should pick up the points.
Athletic Bilbao expected a good season after beating Barcelona to win the Super Cup but it hasn’t turned out that way so far. They lost to Barca in La Liga and then at Eibar buta meeting with Getafe gives them a chance to get back on track.
Getafe have also lost their first two and were thumped 4-0 in Bilbao last season.
Celta Vigo on the other hand have started with two victories and can add a third against the new boys. Las Palmas have been difficult to beat, drawing 0-0 with Levante and losing 1-0 at Atletico Madrid but the lack of goals is a concern.
I was thinking about Torino at Verona for the Super Single but instead tok Sampdoria at home to Bologna but that’s been postponed due to the weather.
Instead I’m going with Kane to score. I mentioned him last night and thechief has picked the Spurs man in his write-up. He’s due one and his confidence should be back – so let’s hope we’re both right.
I’ve picked out an over 2.5 goals treble starting with Utrecht v Vitesse with the last six meetings going over. It’s the same for five out of six at Den Haag v Heracles.
We know Carpi love to attack from last season and they’ve scored in both their Serie A defeats since joining the big boys. Palermo home matches usually go over so add this for the treble.
