A GOOD day is often followed by a bad one and that's how it turned out for me.

Saturday was super, Sunday was sloppy … in the sense goalkeeping mistakes by Joe Hart and Thibaut Courtois contributed to my downfall.

Hart's howler helped down my Torino Super Single and Chelsea's draw defeated the Top Treble. The both to score treble was a loser thanks to Milan so after four wins on Saturday I drew a blank.

But when you're playing for level stakes you won't give it all back – and I was never in danger of doing that.

My challenge bet is still alive and I'm halfway to my £250 target thanks to that crazy game between Mainz and Hoffenheim. And Bet of the Day came up evens thanks to Pescara's goal against Inter.

Well done to Greg who again landed his nap thanks to a late flurry of goals at Aston Villa.

Monday's much quietier as we gear up to the opening round of the Champions League groups. In the Premier League Sunderland and Davie Moyes entertain Everton and Empoli welcome Crotone in Serie A.

Dundalk face Finn Harps at home in the League of Ireland and elsewhere it's mainly about second-tier games.

I was going to put up anything but have decided to go with a treble as my only Bet of the Day.

? – not a bad start for yesterday’s ‘re-scheduled’ Night Owl Boss…it’s been a good day and looks like an even better night with tonight’s home and hosed…

Well done again. Calling it night even though the tennis is a thriller – 2-1 Wawrinka and he’s looking good.

    Night Owl:

GENERAL DÍAZ VS. OLIMPIA (Paraguay – 22.00 KO):

Confidence high with this one as joint bottom Diaz play host to an Olimpia side that have started with a bit of fire in their bellies.

They’ve been sitting top for a while and will be looking to regain a share of that lead with 3 points that will see them level Guarani’s 22 points.

These two have faced off 7 times within the last 20 months and in only one of those games did both teams fail to score.

Even more notably, 5 of those 7 games have seen both sides scoring alongside 3 or more match goals with score lines of: 4-1, 4-1, 3-1, 2-1 and 3-1.

    BTTS…10/11

    **WON**

    BTTS & OVER 2.5 MGS…11/8

    **WON**

Selections up for the Paraguayan game later but sometimes you’ve got to ride your luck when it’s in!

Stjarnan take on Valur at 21.00 and, without going into stats and form, I think BTTS has a great chance.

Combine it up with my Olimpia BTTS pick and you have a pretty healthy BTTS double at 1.87/1

      oi, shaker

glad you made some dough off the back of my team being crap today.
our league is like Scotland in that teams like to get the celtic game out of the way, then the rest are much of a muchness and points are there to be won.
we don’t play tns for a while now so hopefully we can stay in the top 4 until the mid season break.

they used to have an advantage as they were the only team with a carpet for a pitch, but bala and Aberystwyth are in the process of getting rugs installed bringing the number of rugs up to 6 or 7, but it helps tns in a way as they have played on a rug for years and the away games that they struggled on with grass, mud etc are now rugs.

    • HullShaker 8 years ago

maybe I should point our directors in the direction of carpet right, might be pricey if underlay is needed also though !!!!

    Evening gents

It’s all eyes at the stadium of light for me

    Sunderland v Everton KO 8pm

It’s going to be another long hard season for the black cats and New boss David Moyes certainly has task on his hands! They welcome an in-form Everton side and I fear for the hosts! Ronald Koman is a fantastic manager and has made a great start to his time at Goodison! They have quality right through there ranks, more quality than Sunderland have and if they turn up they should win this! Everton for me should be 10/11 at best, 6/5 should be snapped up!

Lukaku has hasn’t scored for Everton in 13 matches which is poor for a player of his caliber! I reckon he’s got the ideal opportunity to get back amoungst the goals tonight!

Back Everton to Win 6/5 (BetVictor) (NAP)

    Lukaku to score 31/20 (BetVictor)

The Belguim reserve league is in action at 6.30pm – will have look

And will be on the usual 6pm games for early goals

  5. maxxxx 8 years ago

Hey Guys, I posted two tips yesterday and for the most part it looked like I would land a full house as Chelsea dominated the first half, However credit Swansea they showed some guts and I was pleased for them. I highlighted Costa’s record against the Swans and was glad to see some of you got on. These are the results of my Only tips on the football.

    Chelsea W/O1.5mg evens Lost
    Costa to Score 11/10 WON

Onto tonight’s MNF game it looks a tough one to call with any confidence. Sunderland games have seen BTTS in all their league games this season and in Lukaku, Bolasie and Barkley Everton carry a goal threat. It is 4/5 to see Btts and this is my main tip, as this fixture as seen 11 goals in 2 games last season. I am splitting 5pts on 2 scorers Defoe and Lukaku.

Defoe has never scored at home against Everton but as scored 5 goals against the toffees. Lukaku wanted out in the summer but now he as to stay and show why he is a 15-20 goals a season player. Like Costa who I tipped earlier scored a brace in midweek for his country comes back full of confidence.

    BTTS 4/5 NAP (2OPTS)

    2.5pts Anytime Scorers

    Lukaku to score 31/20 Betvictor
Defoe to score 12/5 Paddy Power

If your looking for some late night action, head over to the sports thread. I am delivering what I promised excitement and winners on the NFL. I posted 7 tips across the card tonight with SIX winning, taking my total to 8 tips and 7 winners since the season began on Thursday. :-) :-)

DEPORTIVO CALI VS. BOYACÁ CHICÓ (23.00 KO):

Not only do the away side sound like a homo-erotic drag act, they play football like one as well.

Sitting bottom after 10 games, Chico have amassed 4 points whilst attaining an underwhelming g/d of -11.

Of their last 22 games, they have won only 3 with one of those being in the Copa Colombia although they did run out 1-0 victors in the most recent H2H earlier in the year.

Aside from that, it’s Cali all the way and in the other 4 H2H’s – all within a 16 month period – they have won: 2-0, 2-1, 3-0, 2-0.

3 selections to consider with a healthy stake on the first!

    DEPORTIVO CALI OVER 1.5 TGS…8/15

    **WON**

    DEPORTIVO CALI OVER 2.5 TGS…13/8…LOST

    CORRECT SCORE 2-0…4/1

    • maccathered 8 years ago

Your right mrf,i don’t like going against greg as we all know what a great tipster he is,i would rather back his tips than more often than not but i just don’t trust everton and like you say moyes wont want to lose this game.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

I only back his goals bets – he’s constantly telling me that’s the way to go.

Taking everton at sunderland you must be mad, everton will always be everton and nearly always struggle at the stadium of light with only two wins there in the last 22 games and with moyes on the opposite side a draw would not surprise me,best bet on this game is under 2.5 goals @ 4/5,got to be brave to touch the wdw market.

    • nazalus 8 years ago

Surprise surprise Macca going against an Everton tip haha…Still wearing those red-tinted specs i see.Everton have only lost at the Stadium of Light 5 times in 16yrs.They have played 15 games in that time.Yes,a draw is likely but i have to agree with Greg on the form of Sunderland & the big hitters that Everton have,i can only see a win for Everton….My “thoughts” are Everton Win & BTTS…….oh Macca,a wee tip for you,buy yourself another pair of glasses mate, the ones you have are impairing your vision.

    • maccathered 8 years ago

I don’t support everton you bafoon,i support liverpool everton are the bitters not the other way round lol,not sayin everton to win is a bad tip but i wouldn’t trust them (not with my hard earned anyway!)their a big price and are that for a reason!!!!

    • nazalus 8 years ago

Think you will find you are the baffoon Macca,if you read my post WITHOUT the glasses, you will see that i state you are going against Everton,so does that make you a toffee’s supporter?? NO,,it makes you look like a Liverpool supporter rating Everton as no good. And as your name states MaccatheRED,im no idiot to think that you are MaccatheBLUE……………….EEJIT !!!!!!!!

Fortune favours the brave MacCathered! I don’t want to be sitting here at 9.45pm saying “‘can’t believe I didn’t back Everton, 6/5 against a struggling Sunderland side”

The head to head isn’t great from an Everton perspective but they have a good manager at the helm and are in fine shape!

Was going to be Everton team goals but happy to take them to win!

Be back late afternoon and may put up some tips – but a few picked out for Tuesday.

    • craigyboy 8 years ago

I’m on it. I also like the Everton win and over 1.5goals bet at 28/10. i think Everton will breach Sunderland’s shambolic defence at least twice and at 2/1 it’s definitely worth a smaller stake on that as well.

  13. jim burnside 8 years ago

Maccathered u pikd up nazalus wrong lol he nvr sed u supported everton in fact he sed ur to busy lookn through red tinted specs.the point he was making is if everton wer playing drumshangie roadsweepers ud stil come up wi a reason why everton wldnt win lol.

    • maccathered 8 years ago

I know what he meant, liverpool fans don’t think that way as we are not bitter, just an observation from a neautral, why would we be bothered about everton we are still the most decorated club in the land.

  14. jhole 8 years ago

I think the Sunderland game has a few goals in it. Which is why I will be going with BTTS.

Everton should score no problems and Sunderland will be trying hard so they have a goal in them too.

    19:45 Empoli v Crotone

This looks very good indeed for cards. For starters, Paolo Valeri gets the whistle. This guy is a headcase of a referee. In his only other Serie A game this season he dished out 9 yellows and 2 reds in the Napoli vs Milan game a couple of weeks ago. But take a look at his stats for the past few seasons!

2015-16 – 109 yellows and 8 reds in 17 games (avg 6.4 yellows and 0.47 reds a game). Remarkably, he gave out at least 5 cards in 16/17 games (3 in the other)

2014-15 – 107 yellows and 12 reds in 19 games (avg 5.6 yellows and 0.63 reds a game). He dished out at least 5 cards in 17/19 games (and gave 3 yellows and a red in one of the two to go under!)

2013-14 – He was strangely subdued this season, only issuing 78 yellows and 5 reds in 17 games. Just 9/17 games saw 5 or more cards.

2012-13 – 109 yellows and 12 reds in 16 games (avg 6.8 yellows and 0.75 reds a game). He gave out at least 5 cards in the first 16 of these 17 games, letting us down on the final day of the season in only giving out 4. NB these stats include one Europa League game he took charge of too.

    Further info –
All four games he has previously refereed involving Empoli have seen a red card dished out.
The previous six meetings between Empoli and Crotone have seen card counts of 7,6,8,9,6,7.
Both sides are pointless after two games – Empoli in particular will be desperate to get the three points at home to a newly-promoted side. Crotone are expected to struggle in this league and will have to scrap hard every game.

    Recommended bets

    Over 6.5 cards – 28/29 888sport (NAP)
Red card to be shown – 44/19 Marathon (NB)

Pk35 to score at home to ilves

Gut feeling this but lives conceded a few recently, though pk35 are doomed and not scored in last 4 games, they drew 1-1 here last month.
Odds of 11-8 tempted me and Pk 35 +2 handicap also at evens.
      Hope my gut is right.

On Sunderland it could be anything really and not a game to go overboard on
Maybe Moyes can inspire v his old team.

I rate Lukaku as a top class striker on his day.
So i cannot ignore the fact, that Sunderland are somewhat in dissaray.
I do not rate Moyes as a good managerial tactition since he left his opposing team that he faces tonight.
In his Everton days,he got the best out of his men, they played for him & the jersey.
Sunderland players try their best for the team & in heart, for the manager, but they are not clicking together.
So for that reason,i cannot see past the following :::::
    Everton Over 1.5 Team Goals @ 6/5
Lukaku to score 2 or more @ 13/2
    Lukaku Hat-trick @ 40/1
    All prices from WH.

I’m gonna go for my usual Monday night draw in the Sunderland – Everton game 5/2 ladbrokes

  44. richard 8 years ago

No form to go on so it’s a risk but I fancy the following

    Albion Rovers u20 vs Stranraer u20 8pm

    Over 1.5 fhg @ 2.025
    Over 3.5ftg @ 1.975

9 of Stranraer’s 11 away last season went over 3.5 ftg – their last 3 at the end of last season all went over 5.5ftg

New season but odds are decent and worth a punt

    aahrus v nordsjaelland overs won

ajax res over 3,3.5 gls won

    winterthur v will overs won

I fancy another goal in the Utrect Reserves match:

    next goal before 80 mins @ 5/6
    small stake on o 3.5 mgls 13/8

  48. HullShaker 8 years ago

Not the best of cards and I’ve swerved most games but I’ll be trying out two singles and a BTTS double for the Night Owl…

To be honest, stats don’t bode too well but both are big prices for the market – certainly not one’s to go mad on and keep stakes low!

    ARSENAL SARANDI v TUCUMAN…6/5 (23.00 KO)

    GUARANI SP v MOGI MIRIM…29/20 (23.15 KO)

    BTTS DOUBLE…4.39/1

    Good luck ?

Underrated Bulgarian side Ludgorets travel to Basel in the Champions League tomorrow.
They boast 7 Brazilians and an Argentine in their ranks and scored after 17 minutes and 24 minute in the away legs of their two Champions League qualifying matches against Plzen and Red Star Belgrade.
I think their goal time of 76.00 against Basel is excellent value.
