THE SFL crackles to life this weekend and there could be great titles battles in all three divisions.

Certainly the First Division looks set to be a fiercely fought with no clear title favourite in me eyes.

Dundee get the bookies’ nod but I reckon the loss of players such as Gary Harkins and Sean Higgins will be too great.

They performed superbly after being docked 25 points last season but look too short at 12-5 with Ladbrokes.

Relegated sides don’t often bounce back right away and Hamilton (11-4, Hills, Ladbrokes) might lack the firepower to make an immediate return.

I wasn’t impressed by third favourites Falkirk last season so it’s an each-way punt on Livingston for me at 15-2 with Ladbrokes.

After successive titles they have a Gretna look about them and have started the season with 11 goals in two games – albeit against weaker opposition.

Livi lost just four times last season and in Kenny Deuchar and Ian Russell have strikers who can do damage at this level.

They have a nice mix of youth and experience and could be the ones to beat if they get off to a good start.

There’s not a lot of each-way value out there but Morton, with Andy Jackson and Paul di Giacomo up front, could be worth a look at 16-1 at firms such as Hills.

Brechin are Division Two favourites but I can’t see them managing without striker Rory McAllister so look at East Fife (5-1, general) or Cowdenbeath (13-2, Paddy Power).

East Fife have won their openers and looked decent while Colin Cameron enjoyed an impressive pre-season at Beath who weren’t too far from First Division safety last season.

Peterhead are Third Division favourites purely due to the arrival of McAllister who netted 19 for Brechin last season.

He’s bound to top score in the division but one man doesn’t make a team so Queen’s Park could be a better bet at 15-2 with Paddy Power.

They missed out in the play-offs last season but enjoyed a decent run-in and could be the side to beat if they start well.

SFL antepost tips

  • Div One – Livingston each-way.
  • Div Two – Cowdenbeath each-way.
  • Div Three – Queen’s Park each-way.
