AFTER a no bet day I'm back with a couple of Wednesday picks.

Newmarket 2:55
Elwazir is a well bred Colt by Frankel and out of Dash To The Front and a half brother to Speedy Boarding who cost 500,000 Guineas so much is expected of him. He didn't disappoint on debut when second to the Henry Candy trained Thrave and was ahead of the 101 rated Aidan O'Brien trained Coat Of Arms who had finished second in the Futurity Stakes and fourth in the Group One National Stakes. That was a good run by Elwazir against some more experienced rivals and horses from this yard usually improve for the run, I am expecting a big step forward from Elwazir who should be hard to beat.
Kempton 8:20
Noble Conquest stands out here. On his last run he was second to Isabella and nine lengths clear of third. The drop to seven furlongs should suit and with the expected improvement. I think this is the one to beat

Nothing jumping out at me today so just a small ew on
INDEPENDENCE DAY 14/1 3.00 navan
This horse was running in listed races last year and had a mark of 103 and today runs off 68.
There’s clearly reasons for that but there was a bit of an improvement over C&D 3 runs ago when 3rd of 19. He was beaten 1L by DOONARD PRINCE and today has a 10lb swing for that 1L. Jockey who rode him that day gets back up today . DOONARD PRINCE was 2nd lto beaten 1/2L by LANDLINE and is 3lbs better off with him so there should be little between them pair but I’m taking the chance that INDEPENDENCE DAY can at least be competitive on revised terms.

I’ve been looking at this race for quite a long time and keep going back to the selections only run over C&D when it won.
The 2nd that day was Snowstar who is now rated 93.
The 4th 79
The 5th won lto
And the 6th went on to win her next 3 and is now rated 103 so a mark of 73 here looks lenient based on that run.
Of the rest of the field
Only MAAREK and BUBBLY BELLINI have won off higher marks but that was 2015 and 2016 and at 10 I’d say their best days are behind them.
It’s also unusual to see Eddie Lyman with 2 in a race and rightly most of the attention may be on Magic Bear as she has the better recent form and drops down in class for this but maybe the selection can come through unnoticed.
Mo Henry has been running consistently and has a 5lb claimer on-board so must go close but is better over 6f.
Auckland has been running over a mile and above
Taexali is 1-28
Ma Fee Heela has only won over 7f and Kupa River 1M.
Ducky Mallon is 9lbs higher than his C&D win but does have a 7lb claimer on and ground wont be an issue so has ew claims and I just can’t fancy the rest.
It’s an interesting race and it’s just an interest punt for me as if it won and I’d not backed it I’d probably have to replace the TV !!
