THERE'S a repeat of the 2014 US Open Final this morning when Marin Cilic and Kei Nishikori lock horns at the Japan Open.

Cilic took the spoils at Flushing Meadows but it's his only win in their past five meetings and Nishikori leads the over head-to-head  6-3.

The Japanese world No.6 will be keen to put on a show for his home crowd and is 7-18 favourite at Marathonbet while a Cilic win pays 12-5 at bet365.

The other quarter-final action in Japan includes Nick Kyrgios versus Benoit Paire while at the China Open Novak Djokovic faces John Isner and local favourite Yen-Hsun Lu attempts to pull off a shock against David Ferrer.

At the Rugby World defending champs New Zealand round off their Pool C campaign against Tonga where an All Blacks win will clinch top spot.

Elsewhere today the Ruhr Open snooker gets under way with Judd Trump leading the title betting at 6-1 with Stan James and Unibet.

Good luck with your bets and let's hear your sporting tips and thoughts.

Chief do you reckon you can post your bets before kick off next time mate so it gives us a chance to get on them haha, well done bud. At least the Colts are showing that their offense can function and that’s even without Luck under center. Only problem is the Seahawks have some work to do in their division.

Once more I pick out two bets for the game, bet on one, and the other flies in :( He caught one in the end zone but a penalty brought it back and another looked destined to be a TD but Hoyer over threw him. Fine margins but again the wrong decision. Yards were 95.5, just managed to bring them in with 169…

    DeAndre Hopkins (Houston) TD @ 6/5 @ 888 – 2 points **LOSE**

-5 points now for the NFL totals, but just over 82 points staked, I’ll take that.
    _______________________________________________________________

Aaron Rodgers has been dominant over St Louis in his career with a 3-0 record. Last time they played was in 2012 in a 30-20 win for Green Bay in St Louis. The last h2h at the Lambeau was a 24-3 win in 2011. The Packers extended their home record to now 11 straight wins at the Lambeau with their last loss coming against the 49ers in January 2014 in the NFC Championship. The Pack out gun St Louis in every category that I research other than being tied in sacks for and against. Already coming up against a strong pass rush in Kansas City and Seattle at home, Rodgers should be able to take care of another strong front end in the comfort of his own home. The only worry Green Bay have on offense is receiver Davante Adams who has missed the last two games. The Rams will give it a good go, but ultimately, Carson Palmer is no Aaron Rodgers and the Rams loss to Kirk Cousins in Washington by 14 points makes this seem an easy match up.

I think the -9 is doable but will be taking an alternative spread with the Patriots in Dallas, with Tom Brady and co having 2 weeks to prepare for their game against the Cowboys who will still be without Dez Bryant and Tony Romo. Brandon Weeden lost a few more targets in New Orleans Sunday evening with Lance Dunbar tearing his ACL, Brice Butler pulling his hamstring on his first caught pass is also questionable, with linebacker Sean Lee questionable after going through the concussion protocol but is expected to play (not sure how that works as Luke Kuechly has missed the Panthers last two games with a concussion so that remains to be seen. They will however welcome the returns of linebacker Rolando McClain and defensive end Greg Hardy. McClain was suspended four games for violating the substance abuse policy during the offseason while Hardy was suspended four games for a domestic violence incident stemming from 2014 and subsequently signed with the Cowboys in free agency. That’s good news for the Cowboys as both are extremely good on their day, but both might take some time to get back into the swing of things. The Pats have been fairly good at keeping Brady upright though only giving up 6 sacks over their first 3 games (one of those games against one of the top front ends in the Buffalo Bills who only got to Brady twice) so getting to him will be no easy task, especially with the coaching genius that is Bill Belichick who always has the ultimate master plan to win, and the Cowboys only racking up 6 sacks themselves over their four games played. Think it’ll be closer than the opening line suggests as the Pats have given up needless points in the second half (51 second half points compared to 13 in the first half over their 3 game spell) But Belichick would have made it clear over these two weeks that its not to happen again and a straight up win for the rested Patriots is acceptable in my opinion.

Like Jordan I was stuck between a few bets last night, and chose the wrong one. Liked the Colts on the money line at 9/5 and Johnson to score a TD at 14/5 but didn’t bet either of them.

For the talent that Houston have they are appallingly bad. Can’t see the coach lasting the year at this rate.

    Cheeky Tennis Double (low stake):

    – Lu to beat Ferrer
    – Pav to beat Ivanovic

    DOUBLE pays $12.00 ($9 returns $108)

H2H is 2-2 between Lu & Ferrer. Lu is in form and has marshes legs than Ferrer atm, plus it’s his home tournament.
Ivanovic struggled past Kuznetsova yesterday whilst Pav got past Penetta who is the reigning U.S. Open winner. Pav can win this today I feel.

Last year I posted my NFL season Nap which was Seattle Seahawks to win their division and they did,

This season I haven’t posted one yet as I wanted to see the first few weeks, but now I have one and its strong in my opinion and at 9/4

    NFL Season Nap

    Nfc East Winner

NEW YORK GIANTS 9/4 skybet hills betway

They were tipped to have the worst defensive line this season but have proved their critics wrong,
The Giants currently sitting joint top at 2-2 but really it should have been 4-0 but for two 4th quarter howlers in the first two games

The Eagles are just simply worse than last season and can’t see them improving anytime soon

The Cowboys have got too many key injuries

The Redskins are just the Redskins and can never be backed

But the Giants are playing good football now which was seen in their last game and are overpriced at 9/4

    Mattek-sands v muguruza- over 20.5 games- 888sport 3/4

Impressed with Mattek-sands so far in this tournament and we all know about the quality of Muguruza so far. I can see a tough battle between the two with many games involved.

  31. Attila 9 years ago

    – Mattek-Sands/Muguruza UNDER 20.5
    – B.Becker to WIN vs Arnaboldi

Playing it nice and safe with this one. Think both the main matches will go unders but the total match games are both set a little high for my liking so take the set unders instead. Becker should win easily, he is a class above challenger level now.

    Mlb

Bored at work so thought I’d to a write up today.

Rangers @ Blue Jays, I’m giving the edge to Rangers again tonight but this is really toss of the coin stuff. Both pitchers in good form and both teams have injuries from last night. Rangers coped well with Price last night, so I’ll edge them to do it again tonight.

Astros @ Royals, both starters have had pretty rough Septembers. Royals starter Cueto did have a decent start last time out but it was against a Brewers team with nothing to play for. Total tonight is set at 7.5 and over is @ 2.0, which I think is good value. It’s probably do or die tonight for the Royals, as Keuchel is up in the 3rd game and you’d have to back him to extend his 15-0 home streak. Edging it to Royals.

Cubs @ Cards looks the toughest match up to call tonight and the bookies agree, pricing both teams @ 1.9. So based on momentum alone I’m edging it to the Cubs.

Mets @ Dodgers are both teams that have limped to the end of the regular season. I think Dodgers will take this one. However there is no value in backing Dodgers. Total is set at 5.5 with unders @ 1.95 which I think has a good chance, but again no value.

    My fun bet tonight-
    Astros @ Royals
    1st innings over 2 hits @ 3.25

    GRAND PRIX DARTS

These are my selections for today:

    Singles:

Thornton vs Suljovic, Suljovic win 13/10 Co-ral **NAP**

Van Gerwin vs Webster, Van Gerwin over 5.5 180’s 5/6 B365 **NB**

    Double:

    Thornton vs Suljovic, Suljovic +1.5
Van Gerwin vs Webster, Van Gerwin over 5.5

    2.05/1 B365

Suljovic has shown he has no problem in getting away by using the double 7 to devastating effect and switching to double 16 if need be. He has been under the cosh in previous games against Wade and Van der Voort but he seems to have a knack of slowing down the tempo of a game with his unorthadox style and it does bother his opponents, who then start missing their doubles. Despite Thornton’s heavy scoring I think Suljovic’s confidence is increasing into the tournament and his impressive doubling and methodical approach will be enough to defeat Thornton.

Van Gerwin should get at least 6 180’s. He hit 7 yesterday in a straight sets win over Jamie Lewis and is more than likely to do the same if not better should Webster nick a set or two of him.

    Afternoon Guys Grand Prix Darts

Its Semi finals night and the bookies have priced up that we will get a MVG v Thornton final tomorrow. The two surprise packages Mark Webster and Mensur Suljovic have had great tournaments, but I think this is were it ends. Thornton and MVG both to win is 5/6 Coral

There isn’t much between Thornton – Suljovic on the checkouts, They are both checking out at over 50% in this tournament which is superb. Thornton came through a last leg decider to show his bottle and he is used to the big stage. I don’t think he will bottle it like VVV did last night. Suljovic was on the brink of exiting the tournament than he ran off 9 straight legs as VVV folded. A final appearance will help Thornton get back into the PL next year and I expect him to come through this.

MVG was my ante post tip, he normally is as regulars will know. It was job done against Jamie Lewis last night and he knows he as a great chance to retain his title. Mark Webster came through a last leg decider against Klaasen who missed too many doubles early in the game, while MVG sometimes switches off, I think his scoring power is were this game will be won. He as hit 15 in the tournament compared to 5 from Webster and as played fewer legs. A Thornton v MVG final for me.

I expect both Thornton and MVG to cover their handicaps on the 180s market MVG -2.5 is 11/10 and Thornton -2.5 is 1/1 both at Coral.

THORNTON & MVG BOTH TO WIN 5/6
    THORNTON -2.5 TOTAL 180s 1/1
    MVG -2.5 TOTAL 180s 11/10

Good luck if your having a bet

Van Gerwin vs Webster, Van Gerwin over 5.5 180′s 5/6 B365 **NB** LOST

    Double:

    Thornton vs Suljovic, Suljovic +1.5
Van Gerwin vs Webster, Van Gerwin over 5.5

    2.05/1 B365 LOST

Bad day at the office today. Suljovic was going well but crucially started missing the double 14 in the fifth set and it cost him. Van Gerwin’s finishing was excellent but he was only operating at around 90% and you could see the grouping on his darts was not up to what it is usually hence why not as many 180’s. Tomorrows final is going to be a classic Grand Prix match as Thornton gets off on tops well and both are heavy maximum scorers.

  90. max 9 years ago

I suspected you were going to lose bullseye when you said “Suljovic has shown he has no problem in getting away by using the double 7” He starts on double 14 and as been immense on that. Just cos you use bullseye as a name to bet on darts, it don’t make you creditable. Maybe a bit more homework needed.

    • Bullseye 9 years ago

Im guessing you probably followed max… I never once claimed that I use the name “Bullseye” on a tipping forum to make me creditable. You’ll see I also put up football tips… its your assumption mate. Besides where were you’re tips? I did make a mistake in saying double 7 when I meant double 14 but either way it’s the same difference because it essentially means the player is good on a chosen double. I’ve not done too badly this week considering it is a double start format and that there has been significant shocks along the way but I’d wager you’ve definitely lost more than you’ve made.

    • Bullseye 9 years ago

Your point is weak. Suljovic was excellent on double 14 but would it make that much of a difference if double 7 was his preference? You’d be talking all of 14 difference… I dont see why you’ve got such a bee in your bonnet when you claim that you’re up. I sense that you’re relatively new to betting as well darts but good luck in your future endeavours max mate.

You’re new max so I’ll let you off. But Bullseye and the chief have been posting quality darts bets for quite a while now so Bullseye definitely knows what he’s talking about. Just make sure you cut down on your mistakes as it seems like you don’t know what you’re talking about, but as I say you must be new so it’s fine.

Max – if Bullseye had given 2 winning tips would you be writing in to congratulate him?
