    Timeform comments:

Alamode (5 out of 5 stars): Well-bred filly who confirmed debut promise to win strong Goodwood maiden in July. Step up to 7f sure to suit and likely player.
    Form: 41
Race commentary: 7f. ALAMODE had subsequent Rockfel winner Promising Run back in third when winning her maiden at Glorious Goodwood and Marcus Tregoning’s filly could be the answer in what looks a tricky race to call. First Victory and Queen’s Trust head a number of other potential players.

Beautiful Morning (3 out of 5 stars): Built on the promise of debut when running out an impressive winner of warm maiden (7f) at York’s Ebor meeting, overcoming obvious greenness (took strong hold). Clearly very promising sort.
    Form: 41
Race commentary: 1m. PROMISING RUN improved another chunk when taking the Rockfel over 7f here 2 weeks ago and is just preferred to Minding, who beat subsequent Prix Marcel Boussac winner Ballydoyle in a Group 1 at the Curragh last month. The supplemented Nathra looks best of the others.

  2. Dariusz 2 years ago

Just to add some spice to the Newmarket 3:10 race:

Gosden: Frankie said Nathra ready for Group 1
LAST weekend’s Arc-winning partnership of John Gosden and Frankie Dettori are out to grab further Group 1 glory on Friday when they team up with Nathra in a competitive, and high quality, ten-runner renewal of the Dubai Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket.

Gosden said: “Nathra has done very well since her last race, we are very pleased with her although we are aware that this represents a huge leap in class. The form of her maiden has worked out nicely.
“Frankie felt that she was ready for a race like this and his judgement is usually fairly good. He didn’t really want to run her in the Prix Marcel Boussac because he felt that the turning track might not suit her – you have to be a bit streetwise at Longchamp.”

Nathra’s nine opponents include two Aidan O’Brien-trained fillies – the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes heroine Minding and the improving Coolmore, who landed the Group 3 Weld Park Stakes at the Curragh last month.
Also in the field are the first and third from last month’s Group 2 Shadwell Rockfel Stakes, Promising Run and Hawksmoor, and the second and third from the Group 2 May Hill Stakes, Marenko and Opal Tiara.

Paul kidding and joking aside.ive calculated the double on 5 diffrent sites and each time it says 106.50 to 1
    0.5 each way double
    14/1 winner
    12/1 winner
    Pays 106.50 to 1
Can you show me what I’m doing wrong and why it’s 194/1.

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 2 years ago

Clarky, it’s 194-1 – if you don’t know how to work it out don’t claim it’s wrong. Someone else tell him please.

  5. joshyb 2 years ago

Clarky u work it out to a pound u muppet

  6. cooldude 2 years ago

Clarky, dont start. If I remember you correctly you were banned from the site so dont go down the road of unnecessary comments to rise agro.

  7. joshyb 2 years ago

    1 pound on a 12/1 winner is 13 pound
If the other one wins at 14/1 u get 15 pound back
    13×15 = 195 which is 194/1

  8. Classic Mug 2 years ago

Clarky – if you put £1 on:
    Race 1 (14/1) – £14 won + £1 stake returned = £15
    Race 2 (12/1) – £15 x 12 = £180 + £15 stake returned = £195 total return. £194 plus the original £1 staked. So 194/1… I think!

  9. Kendog 2 years ago

  11. Paul Durcan 2 years ago

Clarky you are saying 5 each way will give you them odds but it’s not 5 it’s a 0.5 point. If you use 1 instead and put it in as a double you will get 194/1. Understand?

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 2 years ago

Paul, exactly. The price is the same whatever the odds – it’s the return that would be different.

  12. Rookie 2 years ago

Thats a much nicer way to say it than i had typed out paul!

  13. cosone 2 years ago

    13.00×15.00 (decimal odds) – 1 = 194. Something like that ha

  14. Rookie 2 years ago

Again a much nicer way to put it compared to what i was thinking wato

  15. Clarky 2 years ago

I’m not raising Argo what every body’s missing is the bet is 0.5 each way.
Whether it’s points or pounds it half the bet.
All the above examples are for a point win no one has put the each way amount into the tally.

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 2 years ago

Clarky, the odds are the same no matter the points.
Just admit you got it wrong.

  16. Dariusz 2 years ago

Clarky – 194/1 is when two horses win.
14/1 means that you will win your stake multiplied by 15.
12/1 means that you will win your stake multiplied by 13.
    15 x 13 = 195 = 194/1
But it’s only half a stake, so your profit would be 97 points.

Each-way’s odds is a different story. Here the two horses are paid 1/4 of the odds for a place.
14/1 (divided by four) means that the place odds are 7/2 (in other words: stake multiplied by 4,5).
12/1 (divided by four) means that the place odds are 3/1 (in other words: stake multiplied by 4,0).
    4,5 x 4,0 = 18,00 = 17/1
With half a stake, it’s 8,5 points of profit.

If both horses win, your total profit would be 105,5 points. But the odds in the win double are 194/1 and the odds in the place double are 17/1.
When you quote the odds you don’t half them just because you play with half a stake. Nor do you double the odds when you play with a stake of 2 points.

  17. Dariusz 2 years ago

Clarky – stake 10 points on that and you will have as much as 2110 points of profit.
But the odds will be 194/1 & 17/1, not 2110/1.

Good luck mate, whatever your stake will be.

  20. Rookie 2 years ago

  21. Craig 2 years ago

Clarky they are the odds of the 2 horses….not the profit Johnb would make if they both won because as you say it would be half (0.5) of that but the odds for Johnb’s bet are still 194/1 wether you have (0.5pt 1pt or 10pts) it would still be 194/1 say they both win the profit on the double would be 97.5 Pts i think 😛

If one wins & one places or both place then a 0.5 point e/w double would return 6.46 points

If either or both horses don’t place then a 0.5 point e/w double would return 0 points

This is only if there are no rule 4’s

  34. monkey man 2 years ago

181/1 double in my book…you don’t include the stake on the second horse.
So 13×14 =182 (the 13 is stake included)
    So 182 – stake is 181 double

  35. Stevie 2 years ago

Incorrect monkey man! You are putting £1 on them both winning. This includes stake on both horses.

A 12/1 and a 14/1 win double is 194/1. What is so difficult about that?? Jeeez

  36. Hollywood Rainham 2 years ago

    194. It’s “15” times the stake from the 12/1 shot.

  42. Johnb 2 years ago

Let’s just say you put £1 on the double

    £1 at 12/1 returns £12 + the £1 stake which equals £13

That £13 then goes on the other horse at 14/1
    So 13 x 14 = 182
Then just add the £13 stake on which makes 195

You then take away your original stake of £1
    Which gives odds off 194/1

If anyone doesn’t believe me then just go online and use a bet calculator

Although Moore has chosen Minding i think this horse will really appreciate the extra furlong today judged on the way he finished lto and will take all the beating.
