IF England could play finals like they do qualifiers they’d be champions almost every time.
Roy Hodgson’s side were the first to book their Euro 2016 spot and have won eight out of eight.
It’s impressive form albeit in an easy group but we all know what will happen in the summer. They’ll be touted as possible winners and probably lose in the quarter-finals.
That’s for another day – and at least they’ll be there! Tonight they are no bigger than 1-7 with the likes of bet365 and Ladbrokes to sweep aside Estonia at home so let’s look for some value.
England have won six of their last eight at Wembley to nil and should do so again. That pays 8-13 at Betfred.
Still not great so what about England -2 at 11-8 with Skybet – I can see them winning 3-0 or 4-0 without getting out of second gear.
Wayne Rooney is now England’s record scorer but he’s out for the final two qualifiers and the man back in form is Harry Kane who netted in England’s last two and has finally broken his duck for Spurs this season. He is 7-2 at bet365 to score first and 10-11 at bet365 to net.
Switzerland should finish second behind England with matches at home to San Marino and in Estonia on Monday. The Swiss are generally 1-100 tonight so it’s got to be a handicap or goals bet.
San Marino lost 6-0 away to England and Slovenia so that should be the barometer and bookies know it. The Swiss -5 is 6-5 at bet365 while -4 pays 4-7 with the same firm.
Lithuania ended a run of five defeats with victory against San Marino but should be back to losing ways when they head to Slovenia who need a win to keep the pressure on the Swiss. Slovenia are 4-9 at Coral.
In Group C Spain need just one point to clinch their Euro spot. Slovakia and Ukraine are vying for second with both sides guaranteed at least a play-off position.
Spain are 1-5 at Coral at home to Luxembourg and should get the job done without conceding – 3-10 at William Hill. The handicap mark is set at -4.
Slovakia hold second spot with a three-point cushion over the Ukrainians but Mykhaylo Fomenko’s side are the highest-ranked third-place team ahead of Croatia and Hungary.
Back them at 3-5 with Betfred at home to Belarus and take Ukraine at 9-20 at Ladbrokes away to Macedonia.
Austria were the second team behind England to qualify and Russia, Sweden and Montenegro are all vying for second and third spot in Group G.
The Russians two points clear of Sweden, who are in turn a point in front of the Montenegrins. The final group match between the Russians and the Montenegrins in Russia could seal both sides automatic qualification or play-off fate.
Tonight Austria travel to Montenegro, Russia are 1-4 to win in Moldova and Sweden 1-8 at Ladbrokes away to Liechtenstein.
