TOP spot in the AFC South is up for grabs in the Thursday night NFL game when Indianapolis Colts travel to face the Houston Texans.

Both sides have a 3-2 record so far this season and the Colts are hoping their Thursday lucky streak continues as they look to rack up a 10th successive midweek win.

The Colts are slight outsiders at 21-20 with Boyleports while the home side are 11-12 at Marathonbet and Colts running back Frank Gore tops the any time touchdown betting at 4-5 with the likes of bet365 and Betfair.

Title favourite Novak Djokovic is in action at the China Open tennis against Ze Zhang and Rafa Nadal takes to the court in the early hours of Friday against Jack Sock. Nadal avoided a slip-up against Vasek Pospisil in the previous round but big-serving Sock is another capable opponent and looks worth a punt at 2-1 with Skybet.

South Africa's cricketers go for a series clean sweep against India in their third Twenty20 clash today and there's also a couple of Major League Baseball matches.

Good luck with your bets and post your sporting tips and chat here.

Hi Guys getting in here early with this one – Cowboys v New England. The line is -8 in favor of the Home side. After watching the cowboys dismal performances to date im no expert but i really fancy the home side to win this one with ease. For those that follow NFL what are your thought guys as i only see this handicap getting bigger.

    Cheers

Paddy, Cowboys are the home side mate. You mean the Patriots who are the road team.

Having looked at my most fancied games for the weekend, its not biased in the slightest but the best match up from what I can see is the Packers at home to the Rams, with the rested Patriots heading to Dallas the next favourable.

Despite the Rams being my bogey team last weekend beating division rivals on the road in Phoenix, they took a big dent in their defense with leading tackler Alec Ogletree needing ankle surgery and will likely miss the rest of the season. The Cardinals had twice the amount of 1st downs but turnovers were the killers and were unlucky not to get the rub of the green themselves on a few calls but ultimately lost.

This will be the first of two home games for Green Bay with a visit from the Chargers next week, but Sundays visit from the Rams is more important as its an NFC match up.

Aaron Rodgers has been dominant over St Louis in his career with a 3-0 record. Last time they played was in 2012 in a 30-20 win for Green Bay in St Louis. The last h2h at the Lambeau was a 24-3 win in 2011. The Packers extended their home record to now 11 straight wins at the Lambeau with their last loss coming against the 49ers in January 2014 in the NFC Championship. The Pack out gun St Louis in every category that I research other than being tied in sacks for and against. Already coming up against a strong pass rush in Kansas City and Seattle at home, Rodgers should be able to take care of another strong front end in the comfort of his own home. The only worry Green Bay have on offense is receiver Davante Adams who has missed the last two games. The Rams will give it a good go, but ultimately, Carson Palmer is no Aaron Rodgers and the Rams loss to Kirk Cousins in Washington by 14 points makes this seem an easy match up.

I think the -9 is doable but will be taking an alternative spread with the Patriots in Dallas, with Tom Brady and co having 2 weeks to prepare for their game against the Cowboys who will still be without Dez Bryant and Tony Romo. Brandon Weeden lost a few more targets in New Orleans Sunday evening with Lance Dunbar tearing his ACL, Brice Butler pulling his hamstring on his first caught pass is also questionable, with linebacker Sean Lee questionable after going through the concussion protocol but is expected to play (not sure how that works as Luke Kuechly has missed the Panthers last two games with a concussion so that remains to be seen. They will however welcome the returns of linebacker Rolando McClain and defensive end Greg Hardy. McClain was suspended four games for violating the substance abuse policy during the offseason while Hardy was suspended four games for a domestic violence incident stemming from 2014 and subsequently signed with the Cowboys in free agency. That’s good news for the Cowboys as both are extremely good on their day, but both might take some time to get back into the swing of things. The Pats have been fairly good at keeping Brady upright though only giving up 6 sacks over their first 3 games (one of those games against one of the top front ends in the Buffalo Bills who only got to Brady twice) so getting to him will be no easy task, especially with the coaching genius that is Bill Belichick who always has the ultimate master plan to win, and the Cowboys only racking up 6 sacks themselves over their four games played. Think it’ll be closer than the opening line suggests as the Pats have given up needless points in the second half (51 second half points compared to 13 in the first half over their 3 game spell) But Belichick would have made it clear over these two weeks that its not to happen again and a straight up win for the rested Patriots is acceptable in my opinion.

    NFL – Week 5

    Sunday Double

    Green Bay Packers -6.5 – 6:00PM
New England Patriots ML – 9:25PM

    Nice header picture Scott :)

  5. Picksix 9 years ago

Jordan nice read , I think Sean Lee will play but I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets injured again , one of the best players in the league but has just had terrible luck with injuries.

You got your early NBA picks ready?

  6. Picksix 9 years ago

Paddy I posted on Monday to take the pats -7 it’s my main bet for sunday

  7. thechief 9 years ago

Paddy, I am not a big believer on jumping on spreads days in advance. The line doesn’t move that much and the injury reports only come out today. The only one was Andrew Luck last week when the spread opened at around 9ts and dropped to 4pts.

I’m also not a big fan of road teams giving up more than two scores on the road, If Sean Lee plays that will be huge for Dallas and we wont know that until the weekend. I would also look at the history or the Patriots coming off a bye week. The consensus is they are fresh and ready to go, that’s not always the case.

They have lost 2 of their last 3 on road after a bye, and only covered the spread of 8 which your getting in 2 out their last 6 after a bye. I’m not saying they wont win the odds suggests they will. I’m just not taking a team in midweek giving up a touchdown plus on the road, without team news, for me there are better markets to look at.

  8. Jordan 9 years ago

Why can’t I see the header? Complete guess but is it cheerleaders by any chance? That’s usually the NFL header haha

Cheers Tyler it took me the best part of 40 minutes yesterday after looking at stats and injuries etc. Looked again today, James Jones and Randall Cobb were limited in practice but I think that’s more being cautious as they’re obviously thin at the moment.

I find that concussion protocol strange as like I said, Kuechly has missed the last two games for Carolina so how is Sean Lee probable? It was Jerry Jones who says he will probably play so I’ll take it with a pinch of salt.

Haven’t got NBA picks ready but I know which teams I’m going to get on most weeks if they stay healthy.

  9. Jordan 9 years ago

Tyler I’ve replied but comment in mod mate. No naughty words either.

  10. Picksix 9 years ago

Jordan, chief wat u guys think of Hawks/bengals?

The pass rushers of the bengals and big geno being back is scaring me they Were all over kansass shaky line and I don’t think ours are gonna do a better job in protecting wilson we might struggle over there. Personally I won’t be putting any money on the bengals but I think they have a good chance of winning

  11. Jordan 9 years ago

*The consensus, Jordan and Tyler haha

Personally I think the spread is too high but I think they’ll win which is why I’ve taken the ML.

Sean Lee is supposedly going to play, but guess who said it. Jerry. Jones.

  12. thechief 9 years ago

Picksix, I fancy Cinci mate. I cant be having Seattle after that showing on MNF. Cinci look good, Dalton doesn’t have to go after that secondary with AJ, he has a good running game.

  13. Jordan 9 years ago

Tyler hate to say it but I think the Bengals will get the W after seeing your offensive line on Tuesday. Certainly think it’ll go under 44. Not one to bet on for me though.

  14. Picksix 9 years ago

Jordan you’re right you think they would take more caution as it is Sean Lee , im no doctor so I have no idea how concussion protocol works either and if it is jerry who said he will probably play then he probably won’t haha , that’s a good sign though.

  15. Picksix 9 years ago

Cheers gents the spread is only -3 for cinci too i think they come away with a win

It’s the money or loyalty dilemma

  16. Jordan 9 years ago

I was watching First Take on YouTube before and Skip Bayless (Cowboys die hard) isn’t confident. I just think the two week rest will be too much after the Cowboys loss in New Orleans where Drew Brees shreaded them when they only came at him with 4 rushers. He was 30/31 completions. You give Brady that time with Gronk, Edelman and co and you’re asking for trouble, plus Blount is back being Blount. Think I’m right in saying that the Pats were in Dallas before the Cowboys too. They barely beat the Giants at home, lost to the Falcons at home, and obviously the Saints on Monday in the big easy. Brees and Ryan are elite passers and they’re about to come up against one of the best. Pats for me, but hey, I could be wrong.

  17. Jack 9 years ago

Well the big A got ill and lost my last bet, that’s why you post the 5/2 single rather than making it a 4/1 treble I guess.

    SS: Cilic, Vinci @ 4/5
Treble: Karlovic, Sousa, Muguruza @ 5/4
Longshot: Cilic, Vinci, Karlovic, Sousa, Muguruza, Isner @ 4/1

  18. Jordan 9 years ago

I’m guessing the Colts have a worse QB situation than Houston at the moment? Texans are -2. Luck and Hasselbeck both questionable. Certainly won’t be having a bet on that one.

  19. Picksix 9 years ago

I think the Cowboys perform better on the road , they lose too many home games

If Hoyer starts as QB I might take the Texans , I think he’s better and more reliable than Mallet.

I had my first dabble in the NBA pre-season games last night. My win treble of the Cavs, Heat and Thunder was let down by the Heat but my 6/1 overs treble came in from the same 3 games :) Not bad when you know absolutely nothing about basketball!

  23. merv 9 years ago

Picksix, do you have any early NBA tips for the coming year? From what I can see, there’s potentially good money on American sports compared to football etc.

How do you guys run your NBA bets? Do you run with the same teams week in, week out or do you work with points etc?

I mostly bet inplay and trade with tennis. The profit is usually pretty good. I tend not to post it up because it’s usually last minute like Atilla says.

  33. re-invented 9 years ago

Yeah I do the same myself, I just wasn’t sure if the tip was caught in moderation or if it was a personal bet.

  34. Attila 9 years ago

Dazzler/Dazid – How awesome is Jake Arrietta?! He is a pitching machine. Think he’s gone 12 straight wins with only 2 runs against him. ERA of like 1.600 or something. Amazing. Cubs are in with a chance to win the pennant if he can keep it up.

  35. Jordan 9 years ago

Personally I wouldn’t take any early bets in the NBA as like NFL there is a lot of injuries with the amount of games that are played. Don’t think it’ll be the Cavs myself as they are still dealing with injuries now. Love hand Irving haven’t picked up a ball since the playoffs and Shumpert has just had surgery. My outside shot would be the Rockets @ 20/1 @ Ladbrokes.

  36. paddy 9 years ago

Hi Jordan / Chief – Thanks for the opinions appreciate your inputs, cheers. Ps hat’s off for your continual efforts in relation to games, doing a sterling job – RESPECT.

  37. Dazzler 9 years ago

    Cheers Dazid.

Attila I think the term BEAST applies. I’m waiting for a price for Cubs to win their series against the Cardinals.

    Tonight’s mlb
    Rangers @ 3.05 (fun bet)

Rangers @ Blue Jays is tougher to call than the odds suggest, in my opinion. 2/1 is a decent price considering Rangers are batting first. I’m thinking if they can get out in front it’s an easy cover in play.

I think Astros @ Royals is a really unpredictable game and it’s all down to who turns up tonight. If I had to pick a winner it would be Astros but I’ve not got anything on this one.

  39. Jordan 9 years ago

    ESPN 1 minute ago

Matt Hasselbeck will make his second straight start on Thursday when the Colts visit the Texans

  40. Rivers 9 years ago

Hasselbeck is ill himself so all points to further problems for the Colts. However, I can’t touch the Texans at the moment and +4 for the Colts is too big. The game is one to steer clear of but I might have a tickle on the Colts on the money line at 9/5. An Andre Johnsone anytime TD could be value too at 14/5 against his former club.

  41. Jordan 9 years ago

Rivers, neither side should be backed tonight but the worst kept secret in the NFL is that Hopkins is the go to guy for both of Houstons QB‘s The most targets in the NFL, 9 more than Julio Jones. Vontae Davis might not even play which is what I’m waiting on and if that’s the case I’ll be on either Hopkins yards or a TD for a small stake. Colts have given up a TD or two to a receiver in every game this season.

  42. Picksix 9 years ago

Is it just me or does anyone else think thas has the potential to be the worst Thursday Night game there has ever been

  43. Picksix 9 years ago

Jordan it’s definetely worth taking an outsider , Warriors were 25/1 at the start of last season

  44. Dazzler 9 years ago

    Tonight’s NHL
    Money line double
    Bruins
    Lightning

    @ 2.65

I’m gonna do a single on either-
Minnesota in regular time @ 2.3
    Or
Stamkos (TB lightning) to score anytime

No price yet for the anytime scorer, which is my preferred single.

Just my bets, I’m no expert on NHL.

  45. Jordan 9 years ago

Haha no Tyler, I watched a Rams/Cardinals game on TNF last year that the Cardinals won 12-6, and it was the worst NFL experience of my life.

Yeah I think that’s quite good value too. Have to remember that Howard was out for months last year and they now have Ty Lawson.

  46. Picksix 9 years ago

Yeh haha ure rite , I dont think this game will top that , that game was bad I dont mind watching a defensive low scoring game but that was ridiculous. Cant believe the Texans are -4 there no better than 4 points against anyone. Would have took -1 tbh as I think the defensive front will stop clots from putting up a winning score but -4 that’s not for me

  47. Jordan 9 years ago

I’m just looking forward to seeing how many sacks Watt and Clowney can rack up.

  48. Jordan 9 years ago

Be interesting to see which QB starts for Houston. I’m sure it’ll be Hoyer but 365 have Mallets passing yards up. Am I right in saying as long as Mallet suits up the bet will stand?

  49. Rivers 9 years ago

Good spot, Jordan. His yards are up at 94.5 yards which sounds high but this Colts D is really, really bad. Greg Manusky was the defensive coordinator for the Chargers a few years back and he was abysmal. If Davis is ruled out that 95 yards or almost evens to score a TD look like good bets.

  50. Picksix 9 years ago

I personally would start hoyer I think he’s a better QB but Ive read that it will be mallett.

  51. Danny T 9 years ago

What a goal again fletcher amazing !!!

  52. Dazzler 9 years ago

Covering on Blue Jays ml @ 3.5.

  53. Jordan 9 years ago

Can’t be bothered to wait for the Vontae Davis news. He hasn’t practiced all week and was in a boot on Tuesday so I’ll be surprised if he does play and even then its quite clear he’s not going to be 100%

As mentioned earlier today. DeAndre Hopkins is the most targeted receiver in the NFL through the four games played and with injuries to Washington and Shorts (receivers 2 and 2 on the depth chart) Hopkins should get plenty of looks. The Colts have given up 6 TD’s to receivers so far this season in all 4 games, if anyone is going to get one through the air for Houston its Hopkins for me. He has 3 TD’s on the season, all coming in both home games.

    DeAndre Hopkins (Houston) TD @ 6/5 @ 888 – 2 points

Jordan good luck with your bet mate, I’ve been thinking of taken the TD total to go under but thers a big possibilty of the Texans putting up a big score if that secondary is as bad as it was against the jets so going to leave it , seems a bit risky

  57. leecunliffe 9 years ago

    Nfl Thursday

Hmm luck being out makes this a tough one to decide, is Houston qb Mallet better than anything colts have? Prob not, but colts struggled against the jags who ain’t as good as Houston so am going for one bet which is Houston D. If can get sufficient pressure on qb than a defence or special team td could be on cards

    Houston defence/special team td 3/1

    • Dazid316 9 years ago

Attila – Jake Arrieta everything he’s done since all star game break has been top class stuff home or away, reminds me of Bumgarner’s form in postseason last year. I think it could be the Cubs year this year, been impressed with them over the last few weeks of league season but didn’t touch the 16/1 odds for world series, 6/1 now.

Dazzler – Nice winner with the Texas bet, was working so only saw the last out in bottom of 9th, was reading earlier in the day that Prices era in postseason is around 5.40 looks like it continued tonight

  58. Jordan 9 years ago

Total sacks are Over 4.5 @ Stan James @ 8/11. Houston could very much bring that in by themselves.

  59. Jordan 9 years ago

Matt Hasselbeck went to hospital after the game on Sunday for an IV, didn’t leave until Monday morning, didn’t do anything at practice, got on a plane, found out he was playing yesterday. Has apparently said ‘he hopes he can play four quarters’. Not really how you want to feel coming up against JJ Watt and the number 1 overall pick of 2014 in Jadeveon Clowney.

  60. Dazzler 9 years ago

Stamkos (TB lightning) to score anytime @ 2.4 betway

  61. Dazzler 9 years ago

Cheers Dazid, just thought 2/1 was too big and it meant an easy cover, so it’s a win at evens really but I’ll take that any day.
Price didn’t look all that bad he just made a few pitching errors and Rangers took their chances. Where as Blue Jays didn’t make Gallardo pay for his mistakes in the early innings.

  62. Jordan 9 years ago

Colts @ Texans……Tough game to call!!!!
Hoping the texans D gets a few turnovers from a shattered looking Hasselbeck! & that’ll give Arian Foster more time to make a few nice runs.. TJ Yeldon ran up 105yrds last game against the 25th ranked rushing defense. So im backing Arian Foster Over 73.5yrds rushing. Gudluck everyone

For a bit of interest, putting very small stake on Colts with the longest field goal at 365 with the price being 6/5.

Simply because they have Adam Vinatieri as their kicked and the fact that I can’t see too many 3rd down completions for the Colts compared to the Texans.

Like I said, just a bit of interest, but good luck if anyone fancies a go.

    Indianapolis @ Houston

Indianapolis have for years been soft against the run, so I expect Arian Foster to have a good night. Andrew Luck is out and Freeman ran through this Houston front seven, so hand the ball to Frank Gore to pound the ball. I expect him to get 15+ carries and that means O57.5yds at 10/11 Hills is do able. Gore is also 7/5 Paddy Power to score.

  78. thechief 9 years ago

Oh my, how can no Colts DB’s think two jump in front of the WR, two behind him and just knock it down. Nope all four stand behind him and jump, Oh C’Mon DB’s.

  79. Jordan 9 years ago

well done chief mate. That’s both for you.

  80. Jordan 9 years ago

  83. Jordan 9 years ago

Houston are woeful in the secondary. Taking a page out of the Bills book beating themselves with penalties.

  84. thechief 9 years ago

3rd Quarter done, the Colts offence starting to get their big FA signings going on offence. If they win this they go to 3-2 but importantly 3-0 in the South. A 10 day break to get Luck healthy to go and face Brady and the Patriots. Some may say a AFC Championship preview game :D

Who said this could be the worse TNF game in history ;)

  85. Jordan 9 years ago

    Nobody did chief haha

  86. Jordan 9 years ago

Oh sh*t Tyler did didn’t he haha, has been a good one but once more I’m ruing my decision on a TD over yards.

  87. Jordan 9 years ago

There goes my TD. F*ck sakes…

  88. Jordan 9 years ago

Oh Hoyer. Play amazing all night and you throw that pick at the most vital time.

  89. Jordan 9 years ago

Great play from the Hasselbeck and the Colts all round tonight. Nobody gave them a chance pre game. Hoyer crumbled at the vital point but I think he’ll be the starter over Mallet.
