ENGLAND’S loss to Australia on Saturday produced the result of the Rugby World Cup so far but William Hill predict the hosts’ KO will see betting fall by as much as 25 per cent for the rest of the tournament.
The dominance of the southern hemisphere sides is underlined by the 1-5 that one of them will win the World Cup, with any northern team offered at 7-2. New Zealand are the 11-10 favourites with Australia 3-1 and South Africa 7-1.
“We definitely wanted England to go further,” said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams. “We now need a northern hemisphere team to come good and keep interest in the competition.”
Today’s matches see Fiji tackle Uruguay in Pool A after Canada and Romania go head to head in Pool D.
Novak Djokovic is in China Open action this morning against Simone Bolelli while Nick Kyrgios and Richard Gasquet play their opening matches at the Japan Open.
