I MADE a valiant attempt to land a double last night. Wil's late goal brought up over 2.5 goals in their match but instead of overs I went for both to score at Stuttgart.

And probably because I was on them Greuther Furth decided not to score on the road for the first time this year as they crashed 4-0.

On cards like last night's and tonight's I don't mind risking to lose one or two points but nothing much more.

Tonight's card is dominated by the EFL Trophy and from the last round of games I seem to remember most of the Academy sides losing.

There are also National League games to look at and FA Cup qualifers. In Ireland Dundalk meet Derry in the Irish Cup semis and team news is vital here as the champions could rest players with retaining the title and the Europa League their priorities.

Having had a good study of tonight's card I have three low-stakes tips. First it's a 1pt Super Single on Norwich U-23s at Barnet. The Canaries' academy team were one of a few to perform well last time out as they won 6-1 at League One Peterborough. If they take it as seriously tonight they should win at League Two Barnet who have on in six and one win in six at home.

Put any team news and tips here and see if we can find a winner on a tough night.

The EFL Trophy's a minefield for punters but the National League games should be easier to call. Take leaders Dagenham & Redbridge at a Torquay side who have lost five of their last six.

Add Boreham Wood not to lose at a Braintree side who have lost four our of five and failed to score in their last three against Lincoln, Forest Green and Chester.

Complete the treble with Tranmere at home to Gateshead. Tranmere held the Daggers at the weekend and that should boost them after a ropey spell. Gateshead are another off-form side having failed to score in their previous four and picking up one point.

The National League tips are based on form and stats but I haven't checked team news partly because it wouldn't mean much to me. And I've add a stats-based goals treble.

If I wasn't a tipster or running a tipping site this could well be a no-bet day for me – so bear that in mind.

Something that I really cannot understand —- I’ve been betting for over 30 years and virtually every bookmaker has restricted my stakes ( two have in effect banned me) I constantly read that these ” inadequates” stake a grand or some such , For any bet I place over £500 I only get the opportunity in person in the shops and I’m still limited at times!

  8. dnimmo3 8 years ago

Just a quick one guys, does anyone know how long a pending withdrawal takes from 888sport. I’m fairly new at betting with them and it seems to be much longer than your other bookies. Thanks in advance:)

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

Terms and conditions say up to 6 business days which is much longer than most and longer than it should be.

  9. HullShaker 8 years ago

Great shout over in Brasil in the early hours Craneguy ?

Looking to get back to winning ways today and the obvious selection of game would be Limerick playing host to Athlone.

Top v bottom here and Limerick have won the last three: 3-0, 5-0 and 4-0…but there is just no value in any market; even -2 hcap (which I hate) pays nowhere near evens and with risk like that, my best advice is to leave it out.

Worth a look are the EFL Trophy games featuring ‘U23’ teams – in my opinion, these are slways going to be good shouts for BTTS games as, although the ‘youngsters’ may ooze class, skill and potential, they will generally lack the technique and mindset of a more experienced starting eleven.

Take all 13 to see BTTS and you’re looking at a cool 600+/1 which is unrealistic but worth sticking Mrs Hull’s trolley pound on.

I’ll narrow that down to the following for a more realistic bet loosely based on a combination of teams ‘doing OK and seemingly taking the comp seriously’ versus U 23 sides without exceptional youth setups eg Southampton/Everton:

    CREWE
    CARLISLE
    DONCASTER
    GRIMSBY
    MORECAMBE
    PORTSMOUTH

    BTTS 6-FOLD PAYS 18/1

    ———————————————-

    BRADFORD v BURY:

Note, I haven’t added the Bradford v Bury game which may be a popular choice for BTTS but dig a little deeper and excercise caution if you have it on your shortlist – it’ll be a tough one…Bury/Bradford games ALWAYS are!

Our cracking run was brought to an end by a Scunthorpe super-goal on Saturday but once again we managed to get on the scoresheet…I’ve a feeling tonight may not be one for fans of goals.

Flitcroft has a limited squad and the pressure will be on to field a young side thus ‘saving’ key first-teamers but he seems keen on keeping a strong line-up so far in the EFL Trophy and it may be a chance for players like Tutte and Etuhu who need some game time coming back from injury.

This EFL set up is bizarre with matches going to penalties in the group stage and teams winning the shoot-out receiving an additional point on top of their point for the draw – so technically you might see teams almost playing for the draw and 2 points!

We have form with Bradford/penalties having knocked them out of the FA Cup last season and the draw may be worth keeping on side.

The last 3 H2Hs have all been 0-0’s and off the top of my head, practically every game we’ve played in recent years has been a 1-0 or a 0-0!

I hate backing draws or ‘unders’ but I’ll be having a go at the following with reduced stakes:

    DRAW…13/5
    CORRECT SCORE 0-0…17/2

    ———————————————-

THE NEW SAINTS v BALA TOWN:

Welsh Cup here and it’ll be no surprise I’m looking at this one – TNS have been one of my ‘go-to’ teams so far this year and they’ve rarely let me down.

We’ve not got to look to far back for H2Hs here and this will be the 3rd time the teams have faced off in 2 weeks!

Bala ‘held’ TNS to a 0-2 loss (!) 3 days after they were humped 5-1 at tonight’s ground.

Back on home soil, TNS ought to be all guns blazing but they do have a habit of conceding a token goal and with 5 of their last 7 games seeing this happen, it’s worth keeping BTTS onside at a great price!

    OVER 1.5 1ST HALF GOALS…13/10

    OVER 3.5 MGS…6/5

    BTTS…13/10

Best of luck with all bets ?

  10. saddler78 8 years ago

Morning gooner – you must have just looked at my winning selections pal – I’ve put loads of losers up this last two weeks…form best described as patchy just so as you know!!

If I do put something up though, it will always be as researched and reasoned as is possible and will always have my money on it!

Bromley vs Woking BTTS & O2.5 Match Goals @ Evens (Bet365)

    • leroy 8 years ago

I have indeed found one more selection to my fancy even though unfortunately hardly any bookies are pricing up T.N.S team goals tonight. Instead I’m looking at Lowestoft and Dulwich. The scoring form of either side is strong and though Lowestoft haven’t conceded a bunch, Dulwich should be as capable as any of scoring. BTTS alone is too skinny, so I’m adding:

T.N.S v Bala Town O0.5 First Half Goals
      Lowestoft v Dulwich Hamlet BTTS

      Double @ 47/50 (Unibet)

Think I have found a good one for tonight.
    Torquay vs Dag&R BTTS & O2,5 mgls @2.10

In short Torquay may well be underdogs at home here, but are no mugs on their own patch and have scored in all home games so far this season 6/6 ?

D&R are banging them in and top the league with +14 goal difference. They average 2.17 goals away from home and leak a fair few to. So this is a bet I feel pretty confident about in a competitive league.

GL to anyone having a punt tonight.

Night Owl and it’s a little trip over to Colombia…

ALIANZA PETROLERA VS. MEDELLÍN (23.00 KO):

Cranguy has already mentioned this one and think he’s after BTTS & Overs which has a fair chance.

I’ve tried to ring the old bugger but answerphone says “he’s off to get his dog in”…at least I think that’s what it said.

I’m taking a different tack with the game and fancy away goals…

Medellin are current table-toppers and I make it they’ve score 2+ goals in 10 of their last 14 league games. Mores to the point, they stuck 4 past Petrolera on the last two occasions the sides met (April and December)

3 selections with decreasing stakes but a good whack on the first:

    MEDELLIN OVER 1.5 TGS…5/4
    MEDELLIN OVER 2.5 TGS…9/2
    MEDELLIN OVER 3.5 TGS…14/1

Good luck to all on a late one

It’s Hibs v Bayern Munich so that should trap for sure.

  67. HullShaker 8 years ago

Petrolero go 1 up on 30 minutes – you can have Medellin 4/1 for the win and I’ll be having some of that ?
