Been a bit hit and miss on the NFL again this week. Couldn’t have been more wrong about the Pats which was a shame considering I got the points totals right in both games. Props hit and miss but can still end the night well with the Kansas City Over 1.5 Field Goals which was the 10 point bet. 365 have shortened this to 4/6, so I’m going to take the same market at Bet Victor at 3/4 for another 8 points. Think LeVeon Bell will have a big workload and you can get his rush and receiving yards at 115.5 at PP and Ladbrokes. Good luck and lets hope Cairo Santos has a golden leg.

Sky have DeAngelo Williams at 20.5 which seems low to me! Was a big part of the Steelers offence in week 1 and 2 where he managed 143 yards and 94 yards! Last week wasn’t used as much where he only had 8 carries but still managed 21 yards!

strange hearing all these pundits on tv and radio slagging lee westwood off for his efforts in the ryder cup.
didn’t hear them saying that when he was picked, and most actually agreed with his inclusion at the time as an old head to guide the 6 rookies through their 1st ryder cup.

Russell knox should have been picked though as he has learned his golf in the usa, and has been pretty successful recently as well.

I think there should be more emphasis on proven matchplay players in the team.
qualifying over a 12 month lead up through tournament play is totally different to being pitched in the ryder cup bear pit and one v one confrontation.
maybe they should treat the seve trophy more seriously, if its still going as that is the only format which relates to the ryder cup, and maybe give the top 2 Europeans in the world matchplay a spot in the team, which would then make the world matchplay a serious competition.

or why don’t they have a series of matchplay comps, akin to the darts premier league, then the 2 best at the end of the series get 2 spots in ryder cup as they have proven over a series of comps that they have the pedigree to succeed at one to one golfing combat.

        !get in the hole!….

Westwood had to be selected as we already had too many rookies, but I agree with you about Knox. I don’t know if you were one of the many who took my Pieters tip to be top European ew at 18/1, he had learned in golf in the us, and I said in my reasoning he wouldn’t be fazed and for me he was our MVP, and he is someone everyone on this site will have noted for next season.

The gulf in class was as big as the final score the fact Bubba didn’t make their top 12, he would have been a certain pick for Europe. I maybe going back to France in 2yrs time, to watch us win it back and see some old friends from this summer.

has bubba stopped crying yet. poor old davis love was getting soaked as blubbering bubba did a gazza all over him.
thought bubba was quality though, not many would have been so hands on after being left out of the team.
said everything about the yanks team spirit this time around.

of course we all know Europe lost because there was no Welshman in the team.

be nice if a Frenchman could get in the team as its in paris next time.
though victor dubuisson would kick on after his ryder cup debut last time, but don’t know what happened to him.

            who will be captain,
jean van de velde, haha, he would be straight in the lake if they won.
jiminez ?, too quiet for me
            monty ?, I could think of worse…
if westwoods game continues to go backwards and he doesn’t qualify, its him for me, as he is in touch with the players of this generation and would command their respect, only hesitation would be is he a leader of men ?, or has he got the oooomph if you get my drift…

You could add the Molinari’s to Dubission also. I would imagine it would be one of the vice Captains. I cant see Monty leaving his cushy job at SKY. I would say Tomas Bjorn must be in with a shout, and a lively contender, how about Jimenez? Can u imagine Rory walking down the 18th in Paris smoking a Cigar, while the rest of team Europe are all behind the 18th smoking a big Cuban, while the wags wave their European flags :-)

I’d have taken Knox and Dubuisson. Not choosing Knox was a shocker and I said it at the time.
The fact he plays and lives in the US and wins tournaments there should have made him a no-brained.
But I’m Scottish so maybe a bit biased.
However, you have to hand it the USA – it’s taken them a long time to realise what’s needed and almost everyone in that team is world class.

Detroit were a big disappointment for me last night. However I was called crazy for not only tipping one of the worst teams in the NFL, not once but TWICE, but guess what? both tips WON. A lesson learned here never be afraid to back a unloved dog. Cleveland not only covered their total, they covered their FGs too :-)

I’m putting this tip up now as unfortunately the price as been cut, and again its on one of my favourite markets the FGs. Blair Walsh is a stud, he blobbed a chip kick in last seasons playoffs to end the vikes season, but at home in a game were without Peterson, they may have to settle for FGs early on. QB Bradford as done a good job leading this offence and their defence is arguably the best in the league. Blair Walsh can kick FGs from 50+ out. At home I expect the Vikes to take any points they can even if they are behind as they know they can lean on their D to make big plays. O1.5fgs was 8/13 when I got on yesterday it is now 4/7 but still looks a steal. I will post my other tips tomorrow as their as been no line movements on the markets I like, although I have 3 in mind I will probably only post a further one tip.

    Euro Basketball

    Spanish ACB

    Joventut @ Murcia (11:30GMT)

Not much time before tipoff so will keep this short. There’s not a huge deal to go on for this ACB opener but I was very impressed by Joventut in a recent friendly against Fenerbahce. The price is a bit skewed in my opinion so will take a chance at low stakes.

    Result: Joventut (HT/FT) @ 6/1, Bet365 – 1pt staked. **LOST**

    Good luck!

    ———————–

    Final score: 67-65

Not a million miles off but the sensible option would’ve been the +12.5 spread which would’ve sailed in. Still….was worth a punt!

    Fourfold @ 7/1, Bet365 – 1pt staked. **LOST**

    Good luck!

    —————————-

Frustratingly close to 4 from 4 on the fourfolds! I couldn’t have gotten the Tenerife game more wrong. Both teams had contrasting pre-seasons and I fully expected Canaria to win comfortably with a strong defensive display. The 1st half went as planned with 71 points but annoyingly both teams decided that they didnt need to defend and both were hitting every 3point attempt.

Once again there’s no cutting it. Hard lines in the NFL once again this week. Didn’t watch last night but the Chiefs were being blown out so much they were even going for it on 4th down rather than take 3 points which never looked well even with Santos hitting the upright on his only FG try of the night. Going to have a strategy rethink and maybe only go for two to three bets on the weekend as it gets a bit too much. Same happened last year early on but once you get a bit of form you start knowing where to go. One thing I know is where the points usually come with both overs games flying in so maybe stay along those lines with a prop of the weekend perhaps. Well done any winners. Nothing tonight but should be a good game none the less.

Evening. Not been on here for a while. Just wanted to add my tuppence worth to a couple of golf things above.

It could be argued that Russell Knox should have been picked but Knox is very far from a proven match play exponent and if we were looking for those then Westwood and Kaymer were the correct picks undoubtedly. If not selecting those proven in matchplay then Knox should maybe have been selected instead of Kaymer but Kaymer was actually in fair form.

Victor Dubuisson hasn’t managed a Top 30 finish on either Tour this year and is struggling with injury and personal problems. His game is completely gone at the moment. If Darren Clarke had picked him then it it would have been an absolute shocker.

For what its worth I think his picks were probably right. It was the system that let Clarke down a little as Knox’s lack of European Tour membership last November prevented his WGC HSBC win contributing.
Pieters made it difficult and probably turned it into one or the other with 5 rookies on the team already. Knox refused to change his schedule to play in the last qualifying Tournament in US in Aug (totally fair) and the same week Pieters shoots a 63 alongside Clarke on way to winning in Denmark.

I think he made some poor decisions over the 3 days but I think the majority of European fans, placed in Clarke’s shoes, would have picked the same 3 wildcards.

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 2 months ago

Credit to Clarke for picking Pieters. I think Knox would have been in there if he didn’t already have so many rookies.
Hardly any European rookie has won a singles match going back a long time – so Sunday was always going to be a struggle.
