OCT 25: RUGBY AND OTHER SPORTS TIPS

rugbyball

NEW ZEALAND edged out South Africa in a cracking World Cup semi and today we find out who joins the All Blacks in the final.

Shock-troops Argentina underlined their massive improvement of recent years by stunning Ireland in the last eight and should give Australia a tough test.

The Aussies looked the part with wins over England and Wales but were lucky to scrape past Scotland and can’t afford to be so below par again. They’re favourites at 4-9 with Boylesports while the Argies are 53-21 at Marathonbet.

The sides scored nine tries between them in the previous round and a match total of over 3.5 pays 8-11 at Skybet while over 43.5 points is 10-11 at bet365.

Lewis Hamilton could clinch his third F1 world title today at the US Grand Prix where qualifying was wiped out yesterday by wet weather and will take place this afternoon at 2pm UK time with the race at 7pm.

Mercedes ace Hamilton is 8-13 at Ladbrokes to take pole and 6-11 at bwin for race victory.

There’s also top tennis action and a packed NFL card among the sporting highlights today so post your tips and chat here and good luck with your bets.

So yesterday’s hockey went to plan.

    Bars Kazan **WIN**
    Frolunda -1 **WIN**
    Wild currently winning 2-0

    Tomorrow’s tips are:

    Lokomotiv Yaroslavl
    Dynamo Moscow

Lokomotiv beat Podolsk 3-1 earlier in the season and whilst Podolsk have won their last 3, they’ve been again poor opposition. Dynamo play Sochi who have a poor away record, losing 8 of their 12 away games this season.

Just a couple interest bets for the Wembley game tomorrow. There’s obviously a few factors for this game but the main one is that NFL fans in America will be watching this game with their coffee and pancakes. The journey and adjustment to the time zone will be tough for any athlete, especially in the NFL, which could and should cause fatigue for a majority of the players. The Buffalo Bills rank 23th against the pass and have given a 100+ yard games to two receivers in their five games so far. Totals are as follows. 88, 113, 113, 54, 95. The Jaguars are primarily a pass first team, but that mainly because they are always down by a TD or two most of the game, passing the ball 63.35% of the time. The Jaguars rank 24th on the run offense with the Bills excelling in that area only letting an average of 87 yards on the ground. Jaguars running back TJ Yeldon is questionable after missing last weeks game, but its safe to say he might struggle against one of the best defensive fronts in the NFL. Jaguars totals by receivers through 6 games. Week 1: Hurns 60, Week 2: Robinson 155 Hurns 68, Week 3: Hurns 70 Robinson 68, Week 4: Hurns 116 Robinson 80, Week 5: Hurns 116 Robinson 72, and Week 6: Waiters 87, Robinson 86, Thomas 78. Safe to say they have some big playmakers on the offensive side and I think this market has some value. Bortles has completed a 48 yard pass or more in 4 of his last 5 games (maximum 59, twice). If he can connect with Hurns or Robinson for another big play then this has every chance.

If you don’t fancy that you could try Blake Bortles Passing Yards at a low 265.5 @ 4/5 @ 365 or Bortles Longest Pass Completion Over 43.5 for the same price with the same firm. The Bills are being favoured by -4.5 but I actually think the Jaguars could cause an upset which is why I’m sliding to the 11/4.

Week 7 looks the toughest week so far in the NFL in my opinion so will keep stakes reasonable and add write ups towards the end of the week.

Just a quick few word son the main double. The Baltimore Ravens have done as much travelling as the Bills and Jaguars over the last week. Having traveled to Santa Clara last Sunday from East coast to West, back home, then a trip back three quarters across America to Arizona to play the NFC West leaders who are 4-2, 2-1 at home. Ravens with a terrible 1-5 record, 1-4 on the road. It won’t get much easier against a side who are second in the league in points per game with 33.8 with the Ravens giving up 27 points to opposing teams.

On Monday night we saw one of the ugliest games this season with the Philadelphia Eagles holding the Giants to 7 points and winning the game, even though they turned the ball over 4 times. Sam ‘Badford’ as Skip Bayliss calls him threw 3 interceptions and are on a short week at the 5-0 Carolina Panthers who are 7th in total defense after their huge statement in Seattle last weekend, coming back from 9 points down to win 27-23 in the 4th quarter. That was Kuechlys first game back since his concussion protocol and played lights out and I’d expect him to keep Murray under wraps with Thomas Davis also running East to West for 60 minutes. The Panthers rank 4th in turnover differential and if Bradford plays like he did Monday they’ll struggle to win on the road here with the confidence flowing for Carolina.

Just having an in depth look at the Wembley game. Supposedly the Bills have been in London since Monday and had six nights sleep. The Jaguars on the other hand only landed on Friday, two nights sleep? That doesn’t seem like good preparation on the Jags side, If that’s the case then you’d have to slide with the Bills but can you trust EJ Manuel to put up points? Maybe, but not many without their offensive weapons such as Sammy Watkins and Percy Harvin. But LeSean McCoy will be healthy and scoring in their loss at home to the Bengals last week, I think he’ll be one of the key men with the Jaguars the second worst team against opposing running backs in the last 4 weeks.

That doesn’t go against the previous bets I have posted as if the Bills are to win or leading that’ll mean Bortles will have to throw even more. Another nice fact is Bortles has accounted for 81.4% of the Jaguars offensive yards. Obviously I sad previously that I think the Jags might cause an upset but having heard about the two day rest compared to the Bills 6, I’ve got to go Buffalo and Rex. Bills have a 3-3 record this season coming by W-L-W-L-W-L. You know what comes next…

    LeSean McCoy TD/Bills Wincast @ 6/4 @ Co-ral – 2 points

Total of 10.62 points out. Good luck if you take any picks.

Morning Guys NFL Buffalo v Jacksonville

The second game of the International series sees the Bills face “London’s team” the Jags. Buffalo are fancied to win the game even though they are without their starting QB and main WR Watkins. The Jags have given up 31pts last year against the Cowboys, and 42 the year before against the 49ers at Wembley.

I can see this Bills Pass rush teeing off on Bortles, their RB’s have had no success on the ground leaving Bortles exposed in the pocket. If his O-line can protect the pass rush then he can tee off on this Bills secondary and we could be in for a high scoring game. It is a big ask has he has been sacked 9 times in 4 games and defences/ special teams have scored against the Jags in their last two games.

My main Prop bet for this game is LeSean McCoy. He is carrying a knock, however the Bills will be without Double T at QB and Watkins, so they will rely on their run game. Bills traded Kiki Alonso for Shady McCoy and he signed a big 40m contract. The Bills have been here all week, while the Jags arrived a few days later, which seems a little strange. McCoy had 90yds last week against the Bengals and 89yds against the Patriots. I think he can get enough carries to cover his line of 70.5yds at 10/13 Bet365, especially as I can see him getting 12 – 18 carries. Its time for Shady to start paying back that cash.

Julius Thomas was a big Free agent signing for the Jags and I think he can cover is receiving yards of 58.5 at 20/23 Coral and having found the end zone last week on only his second start and given Bortles has no running game to lean on, he looks like being their main Red zone target. He is 17/10 Bet365. Thomas has gone from catching passes from Manning to Bortles but he still knows how to get open and is still a big target going against this Bill safeties.

    Prop Bet

    McCoy O70.5yds 10/13
    THOMAS O58.5yds 20/23

2nd semi today after the epic yesterday. I expect another close contest and I’ve taken a look at the markets and my NAP for today will be in the ‘more tries or penalties’ market and I’m all over the ‘more converted penalties’ at 4/5 with bet365. Very good odds considering most bookies only expect there to be around 4-5 tries total and this is a semi-final after all.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS to win 15/8 betfred NAP

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS over 18.5 points 10/11 ladbrokes

Buffalo have serious problems with players either injured or just not happy, the Bills dressing room is definitely not the place to be,
Tyrod Taylor, Percy Harvin, Sammy Watkins, Karlos Williams, Kyle Williams, Aaron Williams, Seantrel Henderson, John Miller & Leodis McKelvin out injured and if that’s not bad enough they now have unrest in the locker room with Mario Williams & Marcell Dareus questioning how they are being used in the game

I would be surprised if even the Jags can’t take advantage of the Bills problems

Sorry Ad think Sharapova will have too much quality over Radwanska. I’m a Pole myself and I know that when Radwanska gets matched up against the higher rated players she does tend to crush. Look at her record against Sharapova alone. Obviously Sharapova hasn’t played for a while but if she managed to qualify months before the tournament then surely she decided to rest than needlessly play matches.

Therefore I’m taking Sharapova at 11/10 at Coral. 11/5 also available at Betway.

    Formula 1: Vettel to win @ 19

Crazy price for a driver with good chance to win the race. Was very very fast last year in the U.S.A. Rosberg raced 3 or 4 races with the same engine, if he is going to replace it, he will start in the back. Vettel has nothing to loose and in this wet weather condition I see a nice battle with him and Hamilton. Odds for Hamilton are so low that it is not worth it imo. In a few hours there will be the qualification (cancelled yesterday) , and odds for Vettel will drop dramatically. Jump on the bandwagon now !

    Buffalo Bills @ Jacksonvile Jaguars

    Blake Bortles O260.5 Passing Yards – 20/23 @ Coral

This second year QB has seen a major improvement this year in his passing. Barely averaging over 200 yards per game last year BB averages over 270 this year. He has achieved this yardage in 4/6 games this season going 298,303,331 in his last 3. Bolstered with the return of TE Julius Thomas over the last couple of weeks. As Jordan’s already said the Jags have no run game and even if they did the Bills are decent against it, they’ll be relying on BB for a big Wembley game.

  31. Rivers 1 year ago

Tonight’s NFL looks tough, really not much I fancy strongly.

A bet I’ve won every week so far has been betting the under on whichever receiver lines up against Jason Verrett. Today though, rookie superstar Amari Cooper is the man up against JV and the bookies have set the line at around 70 yards, which is about fair and so something I won’t touch this time. One reason for that is SS Eric Weddle is out, so the Chargers will be relying on JV covering Cooper by himself for much of the game. If you can watch this battle do so, two future superstars of the game.

All week I have thought that the Chargers will win this comfortably, but as the game’s got closer there are problems at Charger Park with the coaches and vets calling out the younger players and with the news that the Chargers will be filing for relocation in January. All is not well. And whisper this quietly, the Raiders are becoming a very strong team once again with weapons on either side of the ball. Coming off a bye, they will be well up for this and I have a terrible feeling they are going to win. Not that I can bet or recommend that, especially because Rivers is playing lights out, but the Raiders have a great shout.

I do like a few props in this game, starting with my two most fancied. Brandon Flowers has been horrendous this year, and today he’s up against Michael Crabtree, a guy who has been targeted at least 9 times every time he’s played for the silver and black. Also, with Melvin Gordon likely to lose a lot of his snaps this week, Woodhead and Oliver could be set for a big day. Finally, the old fashioned FB Marcel Reece has given the Chargers plenty of problems in the past and with their issues at ILB, I expect Reece to continue that trend.

NAP Danny Woodhead o70.5 total 10/11

NB Michael Crabtree o60.5 yards 10/11

    Reece anytime TD 10/3

    Brandon Oliver anytime TD 13/2

I’ll be back later for a couple of fun bets, for now, come on City.

EJ Manuel sneaking and went backwards haha, give it to your running back and bring chiefs bet up. Unfortunately not.

Surely this is too good to be true?! Just looked at the weather forecast and it forecast scattered thunderstorms all morning which surely if only there for an hour will cause enough damage to the pitch to delay play for a good length of time. WI still have 9 wickets to play with …. Surely a good price to stab at?

BigB an utter shambles in Indy haha, could be worse, could have bet on Houston hahaha

  68. BigB 1 year ago

Yeah and the scoreline is definitely reflecting that haha… So many people had high hopes for Indi not just this game but the season… Can’t believe how the team is functioning as a whole right now!

Got Miami in my other leg of the double, guess that’s pretty much a lost now though ha.

  69. Jordan 1 year ago

No idea whats going on mate. They seemed to sort out their troubles against the Texans and Pats but have once again crumbled.

No Martin mate. Said if I had to bet on anything it would be Portland to score twice in a double with LA galaxy to score.

Hey Jordan, just seen your comment mate, I cant go against Belichick and Brady at home in such a huge game, and as I said they know Revis from his time their. He the island cant cover the Gronk when he runs them crossing routes and you see that pass to LaFell in the 2nd qtr.

Big B, it could be worse mate you could have tipped Miami, and thrown in the bloody Redskins.

I am going to do a first and give myself a “Washington Redskins, oh C’mon Man”

  75. Jordan 1 year ago

Hahahaha chief I said Week 7 looked the toughest so far and it looks to be right at the moment. Luck has just thrown his second pick in the two minute warning. Currently 9/19, 79 yards, 2 picks. I put him in my fantasy team over Brady this week…

  76. Yung Kingz 1 year ago

Terrible performance from Andrew Luck so far, he needs to get his plays into order and quick. Colts have a mountain to climb now judging from their performance so far.

  77. leecunliffe 1 year ago

Wow if my early nfl bets were on paper I’d have torn them up, just praying the night games turn out better. Shocking start

  78. Jordan 1 year ago

Gotta be impressed with Diggs, Lee.

  79. thechief 1 year ago

Jordan, that’s is a sickner mate, you done well to get Luck and Brady in your fantasy team. I drafted Brady in round 3 so rode him all week although on their bye week I will be forced to go with Flacco :(

Lacy was available in my league worth checking if he is available in yours, I know he done nothing so far, but can see him having a big second half of the season.

Vikings keep on delivering for me. Lions secondary is pathetic so the 20pts was a dream, “all day” just rushed for a 75yd gain almost took him as a prop after I did him in the reverse fixture.

  80. thechief 1 year ago

Just on Andrew Luck, he still isn’t 100% with his shoulder, it was partially separated, reading reports during the week he still not fully participating in workouts, I suspect its worse then they are letting on, as soon as they clinch the South, I wouldn’t be surprised if he rested for the playoffs.

    Kansas – Pittsburgh looks a thriller 😉

  81. BigB 1 year ago

Colts is actually making me livid right now…

  82. Jordan 1 year ago

    Bye bye Mr Pagano! Shambles!

Chief I had Brady fairly high in my auto draft and luckily his ban was lifted afterwards. Some guy dropped Luck in my league so thought I’d snap him up. No Lacy unfortunately but he’d be snapped up if he was.

I said Gurley was my prop of the weekend but after PP put him at 112.5 I left it. Currently on 94 and can see at least 120…

  83. Jordan 1 year ago

He might not be 100% but 27 zip at home against the Saints is unacceptable.

  85. BigB 1 year ago

Is anyone watching the Falcons game at all? Thinking about taking the Titans, simply because I think Mettenberger is not as bad a QB as everyone thinks he is!

  86. Jordan 1 year ago

BigB Pats are really struggling to move the ball and the Jets just had a big gain and might score again.

  87. BigB 1 year ago

Also, Pats-1.5 is 4/5 right now, and ML is 10/13… is it worth lumping it big on the ML / handicap ? Thoughts?

  88. Jordan 1 year ago

TY 87 yard bomb from Luck :) Well done chief.

  89. BigB 1 year ago

Cheers Jordan, will probably hold it off for a while then… Just trying to recoup some of that money that I chucked on the Colts… not the clearest of heads right now.

Surely Brady and Belichick will sort something out and get the O going at Foxborough though? As good as the Jets D are and how creative Todd Bowles is…

  90. Jordan 1 year ago

Unless the Colts come back the sixfold is well and truly buried. I might grow a beard like Lucks before that happens though. The prop NAP would have been in and would have done well in other areas, so I’m going to chance a bet and try to recoup any losses despite main bet still being alive.

    Dallas @ New York Giants

Dallas have lost 3 in a row, and they are just trying to survive week after week until they can get Dez and Romo back to give them a wildcard. Matt Cassel will start at QB and he cant do worse than the other backups Romo has had. No QB other Romo as led the boys to a win since 2010.

One guy who may benefit from a change in QB is WR Terrence Williams. He as only 14 catches this season but I can see him having a big game in the big apple, especially with Prince amukamara out. DE Moore as also been left out my Coughlin.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Dallas won and with the start they look decent, however I am sticking with Williams as my Prop and anytime scorer. Williams needs 45yds to cover and he could get in 2 or 3 plays, if he draws man on man coverage. The Giants are 7th against the run so I expect the Dallas to put the ball in Cassel hands and make some plays. Dallas to score O20.5pts is 1/1 Bet365.

    • thechief 1 year ago

Dazzler, no worries mate. I sat out the first few weeks in terms of putting up trebles until we saw what was what, but the last few weeks the trebles have been landing.

  103. Jordan 1 year ago

Never in doubt hahaha, so it is Danny but its too late now mate.

  104. thechief 1 year ago

Jordan, cheers mate, what a error on that TD by Winston that was called back by offensive holding. I will take that as shady McCoy was a couple of yards shy of my London prop.

  105. leecunliffe 1 year ago

Jordan diggs has been a real find teddy sharing the love though was about 15 different receivers tonight with a reception, having all day back and decent qb under centre finally gives us chance on playoffs and the defence is swarming. Only thing bothers me is how a first round draft pick 2 years ago is left taking kick off returns back his attitude must be really bad during week to get no snaps

  106. thechief 1 year ago

Danny, Cheers mate, the treble looked beat at half time, thanks to the skins, couldn’t believe how bad they were in the first half. I had written it off as a loser to be honest.

  107. Jordan 1 year ago

Who’s that Lee? Patterson? Think Wright might have been injured so may been seeing some snaps sooner rather than later.

  108. cooldude 1 year ago

Quite surprised by Rosbergs reaction when he threw away the cap given to him by Hamilton. The commentator on Setanta then says surprised to hear boo’s for Rosberg!! Is it any wonder???

  109. Rivers 1 year ago

    Oh man. This is embarrassing.

  110. Jordan 1 year ago

Erm Oakland? Cooper 117 receiving yards in the first half.

  111. Rivers 1 year ago

Yep. The TD from Cooper was a brilliant play call and design. Completely took Verrett out of the game then got blockers in down the field. It was a thing of beauty, something the Chargers coachers are completely incapable of. Rounds off an all round shocker of a weekend.

  112. thechief 1 year ago

Patterson could yet be traded yet mate, although he does look like a high draft bust, and only teams who are heading to the playoffs or can still make the playoffs are giving picks for trades. Green Bay for instance may look at TE’s Davis or Cook for a middle draft pick. The game I’m watching, Dallas – Giants they could do with say a Forte to take them into the playoffs.

As a fan, the worse teams get the best players in the draft and that is what makes the NFL competitive. It was good too see pro bowlers and big name players like Andre Johnson go to the Colts who are a legit superbowl contender this season and for the next couple of years. I would like to see Megatron go to a contender, same with Forte.

    • Jordan 1 year ago

Chief I don’t think Rodgers (Richard) is that bad, only in his second season. Obviously he’s no Gronk but A-Rod has said himself he has some of the best hands in the team. Certainly doesn’t light up the field in route running or anything though and isn’t a mismatch, but truthfully that is our only place where we lack a ‘star’ if you can call the likes of Burnett, Hayward etc stars.

thechief, well done mate with ur tips for early games. wow that redskins finish was classic for the full house. Yeah i like ur idea of megatron getting a chance with a different team. Whats d chances of my Pats nabbing him for next season!! A nice present for Brady for his last few yrs!!!

  116. winnerallright 1 year ago

hey jordan did u back the jaguars earlier @11-4.. Nice picks too Johnb for the wembley game. exciting game to kick things off. how do yee see this 2nd half of giants v dallas. Giants i reckon

  117. Jordan 1 year ago

WA I didn’t mate I said in my first post that they might cause the upset but after finding out about the Bills being in London an extra 4 days than the Jags I changed my mind. Too many turnovers for the Bills, thought McCoy was taking it to the house too and my Jags receiver 100+ yards @ 11/4 only lost by 2 yards so it was an unlucky day. Main bet yet to even start so still might scrape back some coin with Stewart yards also posted now.

  118. Rivers 1 year ago

JV has actually covered Cooper pretty well but the design on that TD was so good they did it again with Crabtree.

  119. winnerallright 1 year ago

Aww damn. i hoped u had it backed. sometimes its best to go with initial gut instinct cause u called it 1st at 11-4. unlucky mate too with 2yrds short, f@#k sake. im gonna back ur double later & stewarts yrds too. im confident luck will change mate. fingers crossed anyways

Jordan, to be fair there isn’t usually a big trade on deadline day, we don’t get Jim White in his Yellow tie, or the lovely Natalie Sawyer.

I can see Davis a pro bowler being traded as the Niners season is done. I’m looking at Denver or Green Bay getting an extra toy for Manning or Rodgers makes sense to me, Cook as well despite his contract, the 49ers and Rams would welcome some extra draft picks as they need them, especially the 49ers. Oh and Davis finally made some plays against Seattle in deadline week!

Its Stupid. it shud be like rugby, where no decision until ref can ask upstairs official, was he down before ball came loose Yes or No.

  158. Jordan 1 year ago

WA I think its because they called it an incomplete pass. If it was a running play and that happened they probably would have ruled it down by contact but it went down as an interception because it was never completed.
