FOR the second Saturday in a row I made a small profit – but yet again I felt it could have been much better.
Arsenal and Norwich drawing blanks beat the Top treble and five aways but I did land a Saturday Super Single for the fourth week in a row thanks to Leicester.
Highlight for me was a 10-1 aways treble but I only risked 0.5pts on Brighton, Plymouth and Elgin.
Greg Browning was the star turn with a full house of three winners out of three but his over series pick for members only was a loser.
Desmond wasn’t too far behind with two out of three winners again but Arsenal killed Jordan and Scott Allot drew a blank on his European tips.
Sunday is dominated by two games – Rangers v Celtic in the Betfred Cup semi-finals and Jose Mourinho’s return to Chelsea with Manchester United.
Park the bus in the first game and you’ll get the windaes put in – park the bus in the second and it’s bound to be a 0-0 draw.
I’ve posted previews of both games. Three of the last four games I’ve watched live have finished 0-0 – Chelsea at Liverpool and Spurs at Bayer and Bournemouth. There could be another at Stamford Bridge and while it’s a bet I hate I’m risking 0.9pts on no scorer. I’ll be watching the game and hoping it doesn’t come in though!
Elsewhere Man City host Southampton as they bid to get back on track and in the Scottish Premiership it’s St Johnstone v Dundee. That’s not easy to call so let’s see if Saints fan Greg has any thoughts.
I’ve checked team news and stats for as many games on the continent as possible and while I was going to add a Top Treble I’ve made it a fourfold. Villarreal at home to Las Palmas and Benfica at Belenenses are in there as well as Real Madrid to score 2+ and Roma to score 2+.
Other sides I like include of course Celtic, Man City, Schalke, PSG and at a bigger price St Etienne.
A second Super Single is Nice at Metz. Even if Mario Balotelli doesn’t make it the visitors look worth taking at odds against. Nice are this season’s Leicester as they lead the French League by one point with a game in hand. They’ve coped well when Balotelli hasn’t played including a 1-0 win away to Red Bull Salzburg in the Europa League on Thursday.
Metz have lost three out of four, scored just one goal in five and were hammered 7-0 by Monaco in their last home outing.
My both to score treble starts with the big game in Holland – Feyenoord v Ajax. Feyenoord have enjoyed the better start but Ajax usually do well in this fixture. Five of the last six meetings in Rotterdam have seen both score so I’ll go with that.
Add Red Bull Leipzig v Werder Bremen. Red Bull have made the best start by a Bundesliga promoted side and are unbeaten in seven but will be tested by Bremen whose last six matches have brought up btts.
Complete the treble with Real Madrid v Athletic Bilbao. Real should win this with plenty to spare but have conceded in their last six – even when beating Legia Warsaw 5-1 and Real Betis 6-1.
Bilbao have been thumped on their last six visits and conceded 26 goals but have scored at least one consolation in five of those games.
