THE Europa League proved the usual minefield but it was good to see plenty of winners on the site.
There were loads on the comments section and it was one winner out of one for Greg Browning and Jordan.
My Zenit and over 2.5 match goals Super Single won but fair play to Dundalk for putting up a great fight. They've been a revelation in Europe this season.
The second Super Single was taken only because it could have been a 100th Francesco Totti goal for his coach in his 100th European game.
It seemed written in the stars he'd score but instead he was credited with two assists as Roma threw away a 3-1 lead to draw 3-3 with Austria Vienna. If I hadn't spotted those stats I might have gone with Robin van Persie to score on his return to Old Trafford which I flagged up at 3-1.
Sometimes you can do too much research and it was my downfall on the both to score treble which in the end was beaten by Athletic Bilbao. I had planned to include the Rapid Vienna v Sassuolo game but left it out when I read the Italians' top scorer wouldn't play.
That's the way it goes sometimes and in betting it's best not to have any regrets.
Tonight we have one game in the English Championship and Birmingham tempt at around 2-1 at Burton. In La Liga it's Osasuna v Real Betis and in Germany Hamburg entertain Eintracht Frankfurt.
Monaco entertain Montpellier in France and Greg, Jordan and others have put up thoughts on France Ligue 2 as well as the Jupiler League games in Belgium.
There are also League of Ireland games with Cork needing to beat St Patrick's to keep the pressure on champions-elect Dundalk.
I've decided to go with two trebles – one of my own and the other a combination of Greg and Jordan's tips and one of mine. If you simply want to do an over 2.5 goals treble on Greg and Jordan's that pays 2-1 at Marathonbet.
I'm increasing the odds with Pacos Ferreira v Nacional. The last three meetings have gone over 3.5 goals. Four of Pacos' last four matches have gone over 2.5 and it's the same with four of Nacional's last six. So statistically there should be goals but if you want to play safe take the 2-1 option.
My treble starts with Monaco, unbeaten in 20 against Montpellier, at home to their rivals. Add Birmingham, whose boss Gary Rowett returns to former club Burton, not to lose and complete the treble with Eintracht Frankfurt not to lose at winless Hamburg in the Bundesliga.

Haven’t been here for a while but tonight’s focus is back in the Eerste in Holland. Achilles travel to Waalwijk in the worst form in the league, losing 8 of their 10 games this season. 9 of their 10 games have seen over 2.5 goals, with Achilles contributing in 9 of 10, so trends show they can grab a goal, their defense is just too porous. Waalwijk aren’t terrific but are priced up as clear favourites tonight. They have scored in all five home games this season, conceding in four, with this market landing in three.

Unterhaching have been good to me so far this season. Despite their best form coming at home, I’m taking them to continue their cracking record of netting at least 2 a game – something they have done in 13 of 15 league games – on the road tonight. SpVgg are an erratic side with the tendency to smash a side, then get smashed themselves (in their last 5 games they have lost 3-1 and 4-1, and won 4-0, 5-0 and 5-1). Unterhaching appear a class apart in this league though so I’m hoping they will do the business.
Graafschap lie in 16th behind 12th placed Helmond but are not shy of a goal. They average nearly two goals a game after 10 fixtures, but they do the bulk of their work at home. 12 of their 17 goals have come on their own patch, and they welcome a Helmond side whose away form is nothing of note. They haven’t kept a clean sheet away from home all season, and even conceded 3 goals at FC Oss.

After watching two Bundesliga games last week (Dortmund v Hertha and Koln v Hertha Berlin) it’s interesting therefore to see both fixtures mixed up and up against each other.
Dortmund were disappointing and had half a team out (still should have won and did a number on Sporting in midweek) where Koln absolutely destroyed Ingolstadt. I know Koln have been doing well but it was men against boys and the visitors made Koln look better than they were.
With all the injury problems for Dortmund I’d still expect them to win comfortably and they are 3/5 just to win but I’d be looking at Dortmund to net at least three and with Ingolstadt barely leaving their own half last week (apart from a last minute penalty awarded) I find it hard to see them scoring so a win to nil is most definitely a possibility (15/8). Handicap betting can often leave you frustrated but there is no way Dortmund should come away from this one without a goal or two to spare.

I have noticed this season that the top sides are struggling to keep clean sheets (frustrating millions of fantasy football managers in the process!). Despite recording some comfortable wins, many have failed to keep even the weakest opposition out at the other end.
I decided to study the results more closely and found an angle that I feel could be profitable in the long term. The area I am interested in is the BTTS & match winner market.
Each gameweek I shall be placing a 0.5 point Yankee (11 individual bets comprising doubles, trebles and a 4-way accumulator) in which I back 4 of the ‘big 6’ teams to win whilst conceding at least once. In cases where 2 of the teams face each other I shall back the other 4 unless there are unusual circumstances like an injury crisis or an important upcoming European game. In this scenario I shall select a ‘next best’ team for my bet.
Looking at the next couple of gameweeks (unfortunately I could not find historical odds for this market anywhere), these sides are typically priced up at a minimum of around 2/1. Using these odds I have calculated the following:
2 winners = 0.5pts returns 4.5pts
3 winners = 0.5pts returns 27pts
4 winners = 0.5pts returns 121.5pts
With a total of 5.5pts staked each gameweek, you are looking at a small loss for 2 winners but once you get another winner on board the profits shoot up. 4/4 and you’re looking at a big return.
I then applied these figures to this season’s matches by selecting a ‘typical’ set of 4 teams each gameweek. Of course this is open to speculation but I tried to select them as realistically as possible. The results were impressive…

Bayern at home to Monchengladbach. Both played Wednesday night in the Champions League but Monchengladbach were away in Scotland. So I shall give a quick few thoughts on my beloved who travel away to early leaders Huddersfield.
Tuesday for the rams was a bore draw. Personally I feel we should be mopping up teams like Brentford but I don’t think either team really wanted to take hold of the match and thus it ended stalemate.
It’s a clean sheet and a point for the rams. Not exactly how I imagined it would be but its better than nothing.
We’ve been without our best defender Shackell for half a dozen matches and he’s nearing fitness, Bryson keeps making cameo appearances so he’s nearing fitness – but he did replace Hughes about 25 mins into the match after Hughes took a knee in the base of his spine. Bryson also took his 5th yellow of the season so he’ll sit out this one, however Hughes is confirmed ok. Sadly Man Utd loanee striker James Wilson was sent back to Manchester after a training ground injury which is now confirmed as an ACL.
That’s the 3rd ACL to a Derby player in 2 seasons, Hughes and Thorne being the other two.
Derby’s last 4 matches has yielded 2 draws and 2 wins and Huddersfield have had 2 back to back losses after 2 straight wins. Derby have also conceded once in 4 games and I think only twice this season has a game gone over 2.5 tmg’s. !!!
I think both teams are in false positions and whilst Huddersfields form seems to of dipped, Derby have picked up their game – but they’re still not the finished article. Not by a long way.
The only thing I’d consider looking at in this match is the under 2.5 tmg’s. I’ve not looked at the price but I’d expect it to be somewhere between the 4/7 and 8/11 mark.

It’s never easy to work out the standards really. In my experience the best Lowland League and Highland Leagues will beat the junior sides maybe 7 out of 10. Bonnyrigg beat mid-table Turriff in the last round after a replay so should be fairly close.
