I DID two things well on Thursday night. 1. I waited for team news before putting up a tip and 2. I went for a goals bet as opposed to WDW for the Super Single.
My Super Single in the Daily Record yesterday was over 2.5 goals at Celtic-Fenerbahce but after team news revealed Efe Ambrose was starting with young Kieran Tierney also in defence I cranked it up a notch on the site with over 1.5 goals for the Turks.
We all know what happened next. With Celtic leading 2-0 after a super start Ambrose's howler – after he had been rock solid for 44 minutes – gifted Fenerbahce a way back in and they ended up drawing 2-2.
The only other bet I advised was Molde and Fenerbahce to score at 4-5 with William Hill but it won't be added to the stats.
Greg Browning landed another nap success at 10-11 with Slovan Liberec scoring at Marseille so it was a good night all in and it paid to be cautious with the Europa League fixtures.
As usual I'm concentrating on my Saturday Daily Record column and won't put up Friday tips until that is written.
There is one game in the English Championship with Rotherham facing Burnley while Celta Vigo look decent at home to Getafe in La Liga.
In the Bundesliga new boys Darmstadt tackle Mainz and there are the usual games around the continent to look at including lower-league French and Dutch which will be popular for goals.
Best bets tonight could be Celta Vigo who thumped Barcelona 4-1 in their last home game and drew 3-3 with 10-man Las Palmas before that. A Celta win pays about the same as over 1.5 teams goals but both are around 1-2.
So my only bet tonight is to make the Super Single a double and take over 1.5 Celta goals and Darmstadt to score at home to Mainz. Promoted Darmstadt have lost only to Bayern Munich this season and drew 2-2 at Dortmund last time out. They're a big price to beat Mainz but let's just go with them to score.

In December 2020 we sadly 
Prior to their 1-1 draw at Eibar last week, Cleta Vigo had scored two or more in all of their first 5 games, scoring 3 or more in 3 of the 5. They are the top scorers in La Liga and remain unbeaten through 6 games. Destroying Barcelona 4-1 in their last home game they’ll have another good chance of 3 points with Getafe visiting who have lost 4 of their 6 games, and on form are the worst away team so far this season, losing all 3, conceding 6 and only scoring once against Bilbao.
Vigo have conceded in 5 of their 6 and h2h would suggest that Getafe should nab one, but their away form this season does worry me. They haven’t failed to score against Vigo since 2006 and although Vigo are the top scorers, they are tied for conceding the most goals in the top 8, surprisingly the same total as Barcelona.
Promoted side Las Palmas managed to score three here and with Vigos consistency to ship a goal or two I think Getafe may score. Vigo will obviously have goals in them scoring 3 or more in all 3 home games, so for that reason I think over 2.5 goals should be a decent bet. 5 of the last 7 between these two have seen over 2.5 with both scoring, with 3 of the last 4 at the Balaidos seeing Celta win with both scoring. 5 of Vigos 6 have seen over 2.5 goals with 3 of Getafe’ games also going over. Think that trend will continue tomorrow.

Anyone else see a bit of value in Darmstadt at 2/1 at home too Mainz. The newly promoted home side have lost just once in 7 games and that was too champions Bayern. They have earned credible draws away at both Dortmund and Schalke while winning at Leverkusen and beating Werder Bremen in their last home match. They entertain a Mainz side that have 3 wins and 4 defeats in 7 games. A better option could be Darmstadt draw no bet at 1/1

Gopher when I went through todays match listing on 365 it was the first game I noticed ha ha. The league ranks number 9 with a lowly 4.18gls :) per game after 22 rounds of matches. Kvik Trondheim are bottom of the table but there games only average 4 per match and even lower at 3.64 in their home matches. The away side Hemnes games average 4.91 goals per game. What I did notice though was that Hemne have found their shooting boots in the last few games and have scored 21 in their last 4 matches with their last 6 games seeing totals of 8,5,6,10,7 and 7. Hemne won the reverse 4-1. Need too wait too see the GL but I’d be happier if it was at 4.0 or 4.0,4.5 at most given the home sides goal average

On to tonight then, I can’t quite understand why Valenciennes are priced at 7/2 (William Hill) to win away at Sochaux in Ligue 2. This is huge in my opinion for a team who are going well so far this season, with Sochaux the only team in the league yet to win a match (P9 D4 L5)! Also, recently Sochaux lost 1-0 at home to a team the Valenciennes beat 0-3 away from home. Additionally, Sochaaux have lost their last two home matches, with Valenciennes winning their last two away matches. I can’t see Valenciennes not taking anything from the game and the +1 Valenciennes looks big at 3/4.
Other bets that I like the look of tonight are Celta Vigo Win + BTTS priced at 23/10 (Spain), Heracles Win + BTTS at 12/5 (Dutch) and also TNS Win + BTTS (Wales) but will again wait for team news before committing.

Hi guys. Heads up on the South African cup match today Marirzburg utd vs Jomo Cosmos.
Jomo Cosmos are newly promoted having been the yoyo team in South African football for a few years their focus is staying up this season. has anyone stuck to betting on over 0.5 goals or laying 0-0, its something im looking at and i know the liability is high and also you need to be patient but looking at the games last night there where 50 matches i checked and only 2 0-0 draws, and i think about 6% of games end 0-0, just curious if anyone has tried this system and what their results where.
I think your better off betting overs rather than laying. Iv’e done this a lot but you have to be patient as the odds can be really poor so you end up doing bigger accumulators.

Sean I wouldn’t be doing 2.5 first half goals in the Wolfsburg ladies game buddy. They have played 3 league games and only 1 of them has went over 2.5 match goals while only 1 of 3 of Freiburgs games have went over 2.5 match goals. The last 3 H2h have seen 2,2 and 3 goals in 90mins.

I’m keeping this totally separate to my everyday bets, won’t do multiple games, and it is just an experiment as I read an article saying £10 start / 1 bet per day at odds 1/10 / 90 days £53,000. Goal line is ridiculously high at 12 but I’ve stuck a few quid on it as I reckon it has every chance of getting there. Mariana Islands have lost their first 2 games 10-0 and Thailand appear to be a better team than they have played so far.

Taribo, I’m sure you had good reason to self exclude from betfair. Most people do because of laying horses,but as you probably already know it’s a dangerous game. i’ve tried it and been stung heavily so now i just bet instead.
taribo / Lee > I did some runs of over 0.5 mg in the past and I was quite successful. Putting a 100 on 1.10 odds. Only back games when they are 0-0 in play. You have to be disciplined and I got about 20-30 winning bets in a row before hitting a goalless game. Also had runs where I got 2 0-0’s in 5 games and you will lose all your profit in 2 games. But you also will be amazed how many lucky escapes you get with injury time goals.
It’s can be quite frustrating and it is not really fun. Nowadays I rather put some on over 0.5 at half time, when odds are around 1.20-1.30 for a goal and put together a double or treble.

Taribo > I still think it is a strategy which will get you profit in the long term. But you will have to have the time and discipline to do it. Weekends can be very profitable, it’s just about how you want to spend your weekend.

Final Verdict – Another tough fixture for Mourinho
Jose Mourinho is really starting to the feel the pressure at Chelsea and anything less than 3 points here would be a real disaster for an increasingly paranoid and prickly Mourinho who is taking his levels of assholeishness to whole a new level with his continued attacks on Arsene Wenger, the medical staff which resulted in the departure of club doctor Eva Carneiro and the almost comical and continued defence of their thuggish number 9, Diego Costa who has today been left out of the Spain squad with their coach quick to condemn the behaviour of Costa. Morinho could learn a lot from Del Bosque.
Mourinho badly needs a win, and a performance but Southampton are a good team with a decent record against Chelsea and it would not surprise me in the least to see the Saints come away with a point here. They are very dangerous on the break and I fancy that this is a fixture where BTTS is likely @4/5 odds with Chelsea scoring in almost all of their home fixtures.
A high scoring back and forth draw wouldn’t be a surprise with Saints in better form and scoring in each of their last 3 visits to the Bridge and given Chelsea’s continued struggles, this could be a really tough fixture for the champions who are not performing or even behaving as any good champion ought to.
Southampton can be backed not to lose @1/1 with Chelsea slight odds on favourites @5/6 but I prefer the BTTS option in a fixture that should be open and have plenty of chances at either end.

Brighton are in fine form but the 1/1 price for BTTS looks really big to me with Cardiff in the play-off positions at this early stage of thie season and scoring in most away fixtures in the last year (15 out of 17).
The hosts may have kept 3 clean sheets in 4 home wins so far but I do feel Cardiff are more than capable of scoring given their current form and I imagine that the 1/1 price on offer will shorten to 5/6 before kick-off on Saturday with the visitors no slouches on the road in terms of goals.

Middlesbrough are in even better form though, winning their last 5 with just 1 loss in 9 but they usually concede at least 1 on the road and I fancy this could be a good game between two sides that will be full of confidence and determined to collect another 3 points.
I’m going for BTTS @4/5 in-spite of Reading’s poor home form as I feel they are now coming into their own under Steve Clarke and having scored 12 goals in 4 fixtures, it is surely only a matter of time until their home form picks up. I’m backing them to do that today and they may even earn a point in a potentially exciting Championship match-up.

They are very dangerous on the break and I fancy that this is a fixture where BTTS is likely @4/5 odds with Chelsea scoring in almost all of their home fixtures.
A high scoring back and forth draw wouldn’t be a surprise with Saints in better form and scoring in each of their last 3 visits to the Bridge and given Chelsea’s continued struggles, this could be a really tough fixture for Chelsea.

I know people have already flagged up Norwich v Leicester as both teams to score but a bet I like for that game tomorrow is Jamie Vardy anytime goalscorer.
