Oct 18: Mr Fixit’s Top Tips

MRF_TopTips_Marathonbet

THE eyes of the nation – possibly the world – were on Liverpool v Man United and well done to those who managed to stay awake.

We hoped for Monday Mayhem but what we got was Mundane Monday as Jose Mourinho played for a point and got it. Fair play to Jose but I thought United were in the entertainment business – and that 90 minutes would get football stopped.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic should have scored and David de Gea made a couple of decent stops but it was never going to be the goalfest hoped for and predicted by some but not all. In the end Liverpool weren’t quite good enough and that 90 minutes probably sums up why they won’t win the league.

The 0-0 cost me a couple of Super Singles and my Top Treble was also a loser thanks to Eibar and Cork.

It was a better night for Greg who posted five of six winners on his goals bank builders and late bookings for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marouane Fellaini brought up Selectabet’s advised buy of Man United bookings at 36.

I’m hoping to do better on a busy Tuesday and I’ve posted a Champions League preview focusing on Leicester v Copenhagen and Bayer Leverkusen v Spurs. Islam Slimani to score is my Super Single in the Daily Record and I’m going with the Algerian on the site too.

A second Super Single is Andre Silva to score first for Porto in Bruges. Silva’s one of Europe’s hottest strikers with seven goals in his last six games for Porto and Portugal and should get plenty of chances against the weak Belgians.

It’s a busy night in the Championship and League One and I’ve checked team news and stats before coming up with my selections.

A third Super Single is Rochdale to win at Swindon as they go for seven victories in a row. I also have Rochdale draw no bet on the Top Treble with Newcastle to score 2+ and Walsall not to lose at Gillingham.

Remember to check out WeLoveBetting for their latest tips and video chat.

Evening Jim – just seen you reply on old thread – you’re dead right, it’s embarrassing enough to see the standard of some games but when you factor in the billions of £ spent to produce an end product like that 90 minutes (or ANY England game in the last 5 years) it is disgusting.

As for Liverpool not winning the league (yes am a pool supporter)

I can see where he’s coming from. Scottish football can be entertaining even if he quality isn’t the same. Mistakes often create entertainment.
I watch Clydebank every week and there games are more exciting than what I saw at Anfield last night.

These games tend to go like that all hyped up and end up boring as hell,a points not a bad result i suppose,i like mr fs statement thats why liverpool won’t win the league, well ask any liverpool fan and they will tell you top four is priority anything above that is a bonus but you cannot say they won’t win the league because they drew with man utd, thats a ridiculous statement to make as liverpool have played tottenham man utd chelsea arsenal and got points from every one of these games to me thats title winning credentials if that is not then i don’t know what is.

What I meant by that was Klopp doesn’t seem to know how to change things when they are not working – the Burnley game being the perfect example.
That’s why I don’t think Liverpool will win the league.

Trouble is with these game no one wants to lose,if mourihno parks the bus it does make it difficult and thats what he did,man utd are stronger than us physically but not quality wise,we should of won but de gea made some superb saves he did more than karius had to.

    Leverkusen – Tottenham – 2-3 goals @ 2.05 (NAP)
    – a game in which we should see goals at both ends , but Spurs do very well in defence that’s why i’ll go for 2-3 goals market 😉

    Sporting – Dortmund
    – Sporting or draw @ 1.73
    – Bad Dost (old Borussia “friend”) to score @ 3.05 (NB)

Not a bad night considering…3 out of 4 bets were winners and could still be waiting for BTTS between Liverpool and Man U even if we left the floodlights on all night.

Anyway, enough of that drudgery – I’m heading for warmer climes; packing my mankini, flipflops and a stick to fight the women off with – over to Brasil for the Night Owl…

FLUMINENSE VS. SÃO PAULO (23.00 KO):

Sao Paulo are edging ever closer to the abyss and hang perilously a point above the drop zone.

After a strong started, everything went tits up halfway through last month and they are now heading for a 13th league game without a win.

Sitting in 9th, Fluminense are hardly world-beaters at the moment but have at least won half of their last 6 games with victories against Gremio (8th), Corinthians (7th) and Sport Recife (13th). The other 3 were losses in which they managed to at least bag a goal.

H2Hs more often than not seem to feature a few goals with 5 of the last 7 seeing BTTS & OVERS so there’s maybe hope for that away goal.

    Three selections:

    FLUMINENSE OVER 1.5 TGS…11/10

    FLUMINENSE OVER 2.5 TGS…4/1 (Coral365 go 7/2)

    BTTS & OVER 2.5 MGS…17/10 (Coral marginally better than 365s 8/5)

    Best of luck 👍😎

Fluminense fail to get a 2nd goal so its pretty much as you were with a slight loss and s finsl score of 1-2.

    Night Owl 2:

UNIÓN SANTA FE VS. QUILMES (1.00 KO):

USF start favourites here and ought to get on the scoresheet against a lowly Quilmes outfit – there’s not to many games they don’t find the goal in though.

    BTTS…EVENS

Also fancy an.early goal and although you won’t retire on it, 4/9 looks good for Over 0.5 FHGs .

Some huge games of football this week and the eyes of the world will be on one match in particular as two of the games heavyweights collide in what promises to be an epic encounter…

GRANTHAM TOWN VS. SPENNYMOOR TOWN (19.45 KO):

I know two things about Grantham: One – it has the shittest service station ever and Two – the football team love a few goals in their games.

In all seriousness though, I think this one may go under the radar and possibly – dare I say it – already has with the bookies. You have to consider much more than just the league standings which I’ll look at in more detail further on. Goals first..!

If we dismiss their first 3 games this season, Grantham’s exploits have featured the following goals: 5-7-3-2-1-6-1-2-3-4-4-2-3-3-4. Of those 15 games, both teams have scored in 12 with the vast majority being losses.

They currently sit 15th out of 24 which on the surface doesn’t appear to bad. Scratch a bit deeper and you’ll see they have played 16 games – more than any other club and in some cases 2, 3 4 and even 6 more games than those below them.

All of a sudden that 4 points gap between them and the drop zone looks incredibly small and realistically, I’d say they are one of the most vulnerable teams in the Northern Prem.

Sitting in 8th place with 5 games in hand and 21 goals better of than Grantham are tonight’s visitors Spennymoor.

I have them to be right up challenging for top place come Spring and they average 3 or 4 games in hand on all the teams above them.

Form-wise they are on fire and have drawn 2 and lost 2 in all competitions whilst winning the other 11. On 7 of those occasions, they have scored 3 or more goals; hitting 5 twice and humping Skem 7-0 last week.

Ideally I’d be going for Spennymoor team goals pre-match but there’ll be nowt on until the game starts…realistically, I think they can get 2 or 3 so keep an eye out.

For a start, I think the 10/11 for the visitors to win outright is good and its rare that I take a WDW selection but I will here:

    SPENNYMOOR WIN…10/11

    SPENNYMOOR -1 H/CAP…12/5

    OVER 3.5 MGS…7/5

    LONGSHOT: SPENNYMOOR -2 H/CAP…6/1

Apologies for the length of write-up – hopefully it will be of use to folk but also on a selfish note, it helps me get my thoughts and reasoning for games straight!

Good luck with all bets lads 👍

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
      Mr Fixit 2 months ago

It’s a good write-up especially as the game won’t have been on the radar of many.
I’ll need to try the Grantham services if I’m down that way.

Hey Guys, your main man Max here, I did say that “Red Monday” could turn into a damp squid, I hoped not but it did. Fellanini got booked late on and I know some of you were on my tip. It was a poor game although I think we are in better shape going forward than the Manc’s. Anyway onto tonight, and I have lined up a tasty 18/1 single for you which could be the biggest single tip on here for a while, if it lands :-)

In a busy night I like Brighton, Newcastle and Norwich to score O1.5g, they are all back able as singles. In the scorer market there are plenty to choose from and I’ve stuck them in a lucky 15, but for my followers I have selected Cameron Jerome at 8/5 Bet365.

    Max’s football League Tips

    Norwich O1.5g 23/20
    Newcastle O1.5g 7/10
    Bradford O1.5g 4/5
    Jerome to score 8/5

    ———————————-

In the Champions League, Leicester have saved their best performances for this competition. They can all but qualify tonight when they face Copenhagen and welcome back Slimani and Marhez, both rested against Chelsea at the weekend. I really fancy Slimani to net tonight at tasty odds of 9/5 Coral, and BTTS at odds against looks good given the home side are not as strong at the back this season and do look vulnerable. It is 11/10 Betfair.

    Leicester v Copenhagen BTTS 11/10
    Slimani to score 9/5

Morning Max, as I was the only other person on the site who mentioned a Fellaini booking yesterday, I’ll assume you are referring to me as the one who ‘followed your tip’.

Indeed, you are correct – I have never even considered Fellaini to receive a card before and I know that I would be lost without your tips.

My 18/1 tip SINGLE is this Eric Dier to score at PP.

Tottenham go to Germany without Alderweireld, so Dier should get the start. He started off as a CB and scored in both is opening two games when he moved to Spurs. He has moved into a midfield role last season and still scored from open play last season. He also scored a free kick in our opener in the Euro’s. Spurs will also be without Kane, and Jansen is likely to be on the bench, so they lack a big man to hold up the play, meaning corners and set pieces could be the way to find a way through. It was in fact Alderweireld who scored at Wembley against Monaco and Bayer have also conceded a goal to a defender in the CL albeit it a screamer. Dier looks massive at 18/1 for those looking for a fun punt tonight.

    Dier to score 18/1

I reakon BTTS @2.05 has a good chance with Fluminese last 6 home games seeing this happen. Add to the fact Sao Paulo need to start getting results or fall into the relegation zone with only 7 games left to turn it around I can see them hitting the onion bag.

Leicester shocked everyone last season by winning the league however this season, it has been brought back to reality. Against Chelsea, even with a few players rested they didn’t look great. Vardy has not shown as much as he has last season and they are conceding goals from positions they wouldn’t have last season.

On the other hand, Copenhagen have not lost a competitive game this season. There has been a few draws in there and people will obviously have the opinion on the Denmark league.

Looking at a valued bet, coral offering 17/20 for double chance of draw or Copenhagen. I think looking at the stats of Copenhagen not being beat all season, they will fancy their chances tonight by getting a point minimum.

People should also remember Copenhagen went to Porto and drew 1-1 before thrashing club Brugge 4-0. Consider…..

Copenhagen have been impressive this season as you say.
But Leicester have been strong at home and against Chelsea didn’t play Mahrez and Slimani.
I think Leicester will edge it.

    Walsall dnb @5/4 Nap

Gillingham in poor form with 4 losses on the bounce, while Walsall have won 3 on the trot.

    Millwall v Bolton
Bit of an irresistible force v immovable object game here with Millwall scoring 21 times so far compared to Bolton’s 13, while Bolton have conceded just 10 compared to 23 for Millwall. I’m banking on Bolton’s defence to come out on top in either a 0-0,1-1 or 0-1 game

    Bolton Double Chance @ 7/10

    Double pays 2.74/1

    Derby v Brentford

Derby have returned to some form in recent weeks, unbeaten in 3 with Mclaren making a winning start to his return as boss. Brentfords away form is poor with 1W 1D 4L this season. Going to back Mr Brolly to keep the wheels rolling.

Also, Romania Liga III about to kick off, I really fancy a few of these on the in play goals.

Worth keeping an eye on. I’ll be doing a few Over 2.5 trebles, odds should increase in play too (unless very early goals).

Like the look of your BTTS treble Mr F. The only thing putting me off is the news that Tammy Abraham has been unwell and may not travel with Bristol City.

Having watched the Robins at the gate several times this season it’s clear he’s a class apart at this level, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see his parent club Chelsea make use of him in their squad next season.

He’s got 8 in 12 in the league so far this season, and against a QPR side that have only kept one home clean sheet all season, If he does start, I expect him to score so will be having a nibble on him.

Abraham ATGS 8/5 (check team news first)

Yeah I saw Abraham was a doubt but even without him they should score as QPR almost always concede.

Afternoon Jim – the Barca/City game is tomorrow mate!

Both teams are ridicolously good going forward but suspect st the back so goals look likely…problem is, the prices are abysmal.

For the pre-match bet, it depends if you want to lock in profit…if you don’t (I don’t) then BTTS AT 8/13 would be my pick.

Undecided for the no risk £50 but Barca to score 4 at 11/4 or Barca penalty at 4/1 both appeal.

    Good luck 👍

    Afternoon gents

Was a good start to the week with 5 of my 6 goals bank builders coming in! Loads of Reserve and u21 games played on a Monday and usually good for goals!

    Lots to pick from today

    Fulham v Norwich

Two teams scoring and conceding, both defensively suspect but also plenty of attacking options! 9 of Norwichs last 10 games have seen over 2.5 goals and with Fulham 4 from their last 5 we should see both sides scoring and that should lead us to goals

    Kilmarnock u20 v Rangers u20 KO 7pm

Been 19’goals scored in Killies 4 home matches this season – rangers leaky defensively as are Kilmarnock, should see goals here

Was going to back The Norwich games as my NAP at 4/6 but going to do the double

Back over 2.5 goals double 8/5 (Bet365) (NAP)

    Leicester v FC Copenhagen

The visitors are no mugs and im happy take the sides that has lost just once in 30 odd matches to sore

Back FC Copenhaen to sore before 73 mins 5/6

    Raith Rovers u20 v Cowdenbeath u 20 KO 8pm

These two have already seen 20 and 19’goals in their respective 4 league matches! For Cowdenbeath most of those goals were scored against them and looking back st their away scores last season they were often on the receiving end of 5 and 6 goal drunbings! ( they’ve already lost 5 goal and 6 goals away this season! Raith are stronger and should put a few past them!

Prices will appear inplay – over 1.5 first half goals – over 3.5 mTxh goals ( it might be 4.5)

Afternoon folks. Just a few flutters from me on a night where stakes are a little lower.

QPR v Bristol City BTTS @ 4/5 (Unibet)

    Porto O1.5 Team Goals @ 4/5 (Various)

    Chesterfield v Fleetwood
    Gillingham v Walsall
    Bury v Wimbledon

    O1.5 Match Goals Treble @ 6/5 (Skybet)

Club Brugge have a host of injuries and injury concerns. Both Leicester and Copenhagen have put goals past Brugge so far so I’m taking Porto to continue that. Elsewhere, I’m looking at goals and a few members of the site have already mentioned most of the games I’ve included.

    Good luck!

I’m liking the pick from @gregbrowning with the Copenhagen goal, gonna see what market bet365 have on that.

On a personal note, just a few bits and bobs over Derby’s last match at home to Leeds that ended 1 nil to the Rams.
Lots of early pressure from the rams which Leeds did well to absorb and right at the dead of the 1st half, Leeds thundered a header square on the Rams crossbar.
Derby made a purposeful start to the 2nd half and before the 60 minute mark, a defended Derby corner fell loose to Johnny Russell who was already poised to hit it like a rocket from 20 yards. How it found its way through a packed box is only something the goal gods can answer. All I can say is thank god the Derby player got out of the way of it, coz he’d have his leg in plaster now. If you’ve not seen the shot, its worth a peek on the Derby V Leeds highlights on youtube.
Derby followed this up with a very quick break and a cross from the left. It was a 3 way race between Derby’s new front man Vydra, their defender and keeper. Vydra put his toe on it for a proper poachers goal. Just a shame about the linesman who noticed he was about a yard offside. Its promising stuff though and shows that we do have a man spearheading the attack in Martins absence.
Leeds unleashed a good shot off at the Derby goal, it had a bit of Venom in it but not hit as hard as Russell’s and when it would of been easier to hit the net, it landed straight into the arms of Scott Carson. Very late on they also had a nice curling effort clip the outside of Carsons left post and it ended 1 nil to the rams. A good win against quite a solid side in Leeds and I suspect the home advantage and Steve Mac back in town shaded it for us. In fairness to Leeds, both sides had chances on more than one occasion for this match to of been maybe a 1-1 or even 2-2, but whilst the manager is happy with the result, he has said ” there’s a lot more that needs to be done “.
I also expected Leeds to add to the 2 cards shown to Derby players, but unbelievably Leeds managed to get through an entire match without a single yellow card !!!
We had a stale start to the season with a goal drought and now, even though we’re not seeing cricket scores, it does seem that every man and his dog with a Derby shirt wants to pitch in with a goal.

Tonight’s match is against a similar side in Brentford. I’ve not really paid much attention to what they’re doing but I know they have it in them to be somewhere between the 6th and 10th slot come may. they may get a bit higher BUT I feel they’ve lost a bit of that fighting spirit that we saw a few seasons back.
It is a tough game for Derby, but very winnable.

Prior to the Leeds match we were in 21st position and 15 points from the top. We’re now in 19th and 13 from the top. I’ve seen the fixture list for the next half dozen games and I like what I see. I’ve made no secret of the October/November part of Derby’s season, and I do expect us to start closing that gap to the pointy end of the table and climbing some places.

I’ll post my bet later but be mindful that MOST of Derby’s matches this season have come in at under 2.5 tmg’s.

No sniff of the Copenhagen goal before xx price on bet365, so anticipating that Leicester should score, I’ve taken btts @ 10/11 with bet365. I’ve also added Derby to win at the same price for a double.
To add verification that btts is probable for Leicester, I’ve just read the euro preview and it seems to be the right call.
      £10 returns a shade over £37

        Derby team news:

Just 1 change to the starting line-up that beat Leeds at the weekend. Left back academy product Max Lowe sits this one out and is swapped out for some experience in Chris Baird. Not sure he’s a left back, maybe more a centre back but experience is experience, if he can do the job in the middle of defence, I’m sure he’ll cope on the left.
The big news though is the bad knee injury suffered in training to Man Utd front man James Wilson ( suspected ACL ) means he has returned back to Old Trafford. It is a blow to the lad as he has some pace and he really needs some regular football. Derby coach Chris Powell said Wilson was the best finisher at the Ipro and Ryan Giggs reckons he was the best finisher at Old Trafford. I hope its not an ACl and he gets back playing soon.

        Carson
        Christie/Keogh/Pearce/Baird
        Butterfield/Johnson/Hull
        Ince/Vydra/Anya

        bench: Bent/Mitchell/Rawson/Russell/Bryson/Weimann/Hanson

**** point to note : Brentford have not beaten Derby away from home since 1930 and whilst the rams made a wretched start, we are actually unbeaten in 3 match WDW – the draw was courtesy of a 90th minute late equaliser to deny us the win.

10/11 if I’m honest is a big price for the rams win. Scott Hogan I think has 6 goals for the Bee’s, but Derby have 1 player on 2 and half a dozen on 1. Brentford have only won once away from home this season, away to Brighton 2-0. But they do seem to not travel too well with bulk of their points earned at their ground.

        best of luck folks

    Ipswich v BURTON 16/5.
    Ipswich v BURTON double chance X2 4/5.

Summary: I think the first goal will be vital, if there is one! McCarthy run out of ideas 18 months ago, and tonight’s game could turn ugly on him if BURTON edge ahead! Ipswich is always a tough place to win, but their current goal drought will give Clough’s boys an incentive to start strong. I’m covering myself with the draw, obviously fully aware the Tractor boys haven’t been conceding of late!

    Also on the following:
    BRISTOL ROVERS to WIN 5/2.
MK home form has been shocking since last March! Rovers will test it again tonight!

    SCUNTHORPE to WIN 6/5.
Oldham home form poor, struggling to score!
    ROCHDALE to WIN 13/10.
    Swindon recent home form terrible!
    SHEFFIELD UTD to WIN 17/20.
Shrewsbury in transition, Utd will look to win this game!

    To score anytime.
    TAYLOR (Bristol rovers) 7/5.
    MORRIS (Scunthorpe) 9/4.

Every now and then I fancy a good flutter! Let’s be havin it!

After a good read up on FCK team news for tonight against Leicester where they have a full strength squad to choose from and their confirmed line up looks solid and compact I expect a low scoring affair. FCK have scored all their goals so far in the 2ND half of the CHL.
I expect Leicester to win at home and win by a single goal. If FCK are to score look no further than Santander, he is their stand out player. @3.75 Delaney is also an in form player.@9.00

Fun bet Zanka Jørgensen ATS @19.00 he will be up for corners and is a hand full. I expect them to see a fair bit of possession by the nature of Leicester’s game. So corners should come.

I am hopeful of an away goal but will wait in play and see how FCK cope.

Bit of a sparse card tonight and there is a Copa Sudamerica game but I’m not keen on betting until the latter stages.

The CONCACAF Champions League game at 1.00 does interest me and will have a look later.

Panamanian side versus a Haitian one (Don Brascoe) and ought to be a goal-fest…looking at it in a bit and will post if think it might have a chance.

I really fancy the latter of the two Chilean Cup games which is down as a 12.30 KO with Coral but other sites have down as a Thursday game? Either way, I’ll be on it and here’s why…

UNIVERSIDAD CATÓLICA VS. UNIVERSIDAD CHILE (12.30 KO):

Pretty impressive stat to start off with; the side have met 6 times over the past two seasons and in every aingle game there has been a.minimum of 3 goals with BTTS/OVERS landing in all but one of those games.

Catolica’s stats only serve to get the goal juices flowing even further: BTTS has landed in all but 2 of their last 16 games whilst 7 out of the last 9 would have been winners if you’d sided with BTTS & Overs.

To cap it off, 7 out of the last 8 games saw 3 or more goals scored and most notably for reference tonight, Catolica themselves have scored 2+ team.goals in 6 of their last 7!

For their part, Chile have seen both teams scoring in 9 of the last 15 games although their actual form cannot stand up to Catolica’s.

            2 selections to consider:

            BTTS & OVER 2.5 MGS…5/6

            BTTS BOTH HALVES…9/1

Good luck whethet its tonight or tomorrow 👍

    INPLAY

    Real Garcilaso v Juan Aurich

Stats support BTTS and Overs very strongly…

Can’t do that inplay but BTTS is 7/4…

Unusual for me to do a goalscorer for main bet but really fancied it & was nice odds

Was between that & Fulham over 3.5mgs 13/8 should have just done that anaw instead of overs treble

Well done tonight crane on your full house

Gutted as often follow your shoe in but didn’t tonight

Gona have a look to see if any night owls I can chose to be a goal short on lol

    Leicester
    Porto
    Newcastle
    Leeds

    12/1

    *LOST*
As Porto were awarded a penalty I cheered and i get a notification of a Wigan equaliser against Leeds 😑
    ———-

    Clean Sheet

    Real Madrid – Yes
    Copenhagen – No
    CSKA – No
    Wigan – No

    *LOST* Madrid concedding a penalty

    5/2

    ———-

    Slimani anytime
    Silva anytime
    *LOST*
Silva last min penalty meanwhile Slimani goal correctly chopped off
    11/2

    ———-

Ronaldo to outscore the opposition – 8/13

    *LOST*

Ronaldo creating opportunities but not finishing any that came his way, personally thought only one goal was needed instead of 2/9 anytime, that was gone when Legis scored the pen.

Really poor night for me all round, need to come back fighting tomorrow.!
