I EXPECTED Saturday to be a good day but it wasn't. Too many of my accumulators missed by one – including the English and Scottish btts with Crewe and Stranraer beign the culprits – and there were a few shock results.
All week on the site teams such as Middlesbrough, Walsall, Bury, Blackburn and Peterborough were talked up and then of course there was St Johnstone.
They were a confident Super Single pick based on form and stats but both went out of the window as Partick Thistle notched their first away win of the season.
I'll blame Greg for that one although he says it was “two wonder goals from Thistle”. Anyone on short-priced faves such as Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Reading, Celtic and Rangers would have done OK – as long they weren't all backed on the handicaps.
Even Bayern Munich only won 1-0 and Robert Lewandowski failed to score at something like 1-2 it was that kind of day.
Well done to everyone who posted winners – it just didn't happen for me today. I like to go for value and sides such as Walsall, Peterborough and St Johnstone looked great value.
Greg landed one of hi sover 2.5 goals trebles at 12-5 but myself, Desmond and Scott Allott are going to Sunday Tipping School.
My first tip for Sunday is an over 2.5 goals bet. The game that stands out from any other is Napoli v Fiorentina and I'm surprised to see William Hill going 10-11.
Napoli have netted 23 in nine games including a 4-0 and two 5-0 successes and their clash with leaders Fiorentina, six league wins out of seven, could be a cracker. Fiorentina's three away games have totalled 10 games so everything points to this going over.
Marseille v Lorient also looks good on paper. Lorient won 5-3 last time they visited the Velodrome and while that was a surprise a win on this occasion wouldn't raise too many eyebrows with Marseille struggling. Five of Lorient's last six have gone over 2.5 goals while Marseille's five home games have produced 17 goals.
Complete the treble with Den Haag v De Graafschap. The last two meetings have finished 3-5 and 2-2 and while De Graafschap's last five have gone over 2.5 goals there have been 15 goals in Den Haag's previous three matches.
The Super Single deficit is almost 13 points and while there's plenty of time left in October to address that I'm putting up one long shot for 2pts that could drastically reduce it.
The Newcastle v Norwich Premier League clash has been winking at me all week and I believe the Canaries are worth chancing at 2-1 with William Hill, bet365 and Betfred. However, for the SS I'm going a step further with Norwich and both to score at 9-2.
Newcastle have won one in 19 and lie bottom three after a disastrous start under Steve McClaren. If the manner of their 6-1 defeat at Man City wasn't bad enough they have lost keeper Tim Krul who is out for the season after being injured playing for Holland. No.2 Karl Darlow is sidelined so third choice Rob Elliott will play.
McClaren's men have picked up surprise points at Man United and home to Chelsea so they can play but lost at home to Watford and Norwich are at least on a par with the side they came up with. The Canaries will go north trying to win and play with a bit of freedom and passion under Alex Neil.
They have a chance of adding to the Toon Army's misery but having not kept a clean sheet the call is Norwich and btts. It's a big risk so anyone who doesn't like it should maybe do over 2.5 goals at Napoli as their nap.
I had a Top Treble in mine but it included some early games. So instead it's Bordeaux to beat Montpellier and plenty has been written about that one as well as Cologne at home to Hannover on the back of their 3-0 win at Schalke last time out.
Complete the treble with Atletico Madrid who should win at Real Socieded but I'm taking DNB at a lower price. I also looked at Bilbao at a Deportivo side without their two first-choice keepers, Napoli at home to Fiorentina and Lazio at Sassuolo.

Price is on the drift at the moment but I think that’ll shorten closer to kick off. Montreal have played twice since the Revs last played a game and if results go their way, the Revs could push up into 2nd with only two games remaining for playoff spots.
Montreal will be without a few key players in all areas of the field. Revs will be looking to give a bit of payback to Montreal who beat them 3-0 at home back in September despite controlling the game for the majority of the 90 minutes. A loss for Montreal could essentially end their chances of a playoff hope. Drogba watch might be worth a go but keep in mind that his last two goals have come with poor team performances. A free kick in Colorado and a penalty in New York. Its a bit early for me to do my usual Derby pre-match summary as I’ve no idea if the boss may rotate a few to keep things fresh, having said that, I’m a firm believer of ” if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it “. We’ve not had a game in 2 weeks so wouldn’t be surprised if the boss tries to stick with the same starting 11 – providing training ground injuries don’t change his plans. I do expect him to stick with the 4-3-3, its effective. Remember, we put 5 past them in this fixture last season, although I don’t realistically expect another cricket score, I do expect a home win. My only concern is Adam Lefondre, I’ve rated him since his days at Rotherham ( Nigel Clough scouted him and obviously thought opposite ), mind you he also scouted Lelana when he was at Southampton – didn’t rate him either. Tw*t. Lefondre has a nasty habit of biting Derby in the bum, Reading brought him for 300k !!! that first season, he was solely responsible for taking us for 6 points that season. Derby MUST keep him quiet, in much the same way as Ince is integral to our attack. Johnny Russell’s due a goal too, but would be happy to see Martin to add to his 5 so far – I expect him to.

Wow Chelsea were absolutely gifted both goals today. Very lucky my 19/10 won.
Maxi, only two games to go in the MLS regular season so every team tonight has to go for the win. Salt Lake played midweek and lost 1-0 at home against Portland but had plenty of chances and couldn’t convert. BTTS is a bit short but BTTS & Over has a chance. Last time Brisbane & Central Coast played it finished 6-1 to Brisbane. Both teams had no sending offs or injuries(that i know of), it was simply a thrashing. The game before that was 2-0 to Brisbane away. In fact, the record between these two is currently 12 wins to Brisbane, 4 wins to Central and 4 draws overall. Stats show it all. Now the season has just begun, and both teams have made a lovely start with a win each. But I think Brisbane should be too strong for Central, and kickstart their campaign with another victory.

How would you see this play out….let’s say it happened to “a friend….”
Said friend had a 4fold come in online yesterday with a popular bookie. I’d tipped him that a certain game would see both score. It finished one nil, but the bookie placed a big green tick next to the result and credited his balance with the winnings (despite the game clearly saying “lost” in his settled bet history later).
Feeling like a cheat, instead of immediately withdrawing his ill gotten gains he put the winnings on an even priced away team and left it in the hands of the gambling Gods. His team won and he then withdrew the money.
Will it get paid do you think?
RobertC, if they spot the mistake they’ll take back the winnings from the first bet.
The second bet will stand because it doesn’t matter how that was financed so he should just lose the first stake.
However, they may close him down if they believe he’s “at it”.
All punters should be aware if they withdraw winnings wrongly credited a bookie can at any point take it back – either from your betting balance or your bank account.

I may be wrong here but I think you might be ok. Reason being I placed a bet through a betting firm online and it was a treble on anytime scorers .Sneijder scored 90th min v Turkey and they credited me with 600 winnings instantly. Reason being because it was credited to Huntelaar and I spoke to my local bookie who stated that they cannot touch that money on your account as it is a seperate account compared to what they deal with online…I think I.e meaning once they credit you they cannot take it back .I have had no issues since and always good to profit from there mistake. Even though I still say to this day that huntelaar didn’t get a touch to the ball lol !!

Longer odds than I would normally go for a single but I think this has a great chance. Nice’s last 3 matches finished 3-1, 6-1 and 4-1, with their last match 2-2 at half-time when it was abandoned. Wolves are playing quit solidly putting some good points on the board. They’ve added Adam Lefondre who I rate highly. Derby need to keep him quiet and shut him out the game as I see him in very much the same way as Ince’s role to Derby.
Noteable scorers for Derby are Martin on 5 and Ince on 3. Hardly setting the league alight but they’re pitching in with the points tally.
This fixture last year and Wolves had started to get some good results against some decent teams, they came here full of beans are were sent home having had 5 put past them. Wolves are in a similar position to where they were last year but I don’t see any other result than a Derby win. That pays 17/20 with bet365. My super single is for Derby to win to nil @ 6/4. If we get a good start and don’t sit back, we should be good value to cover a -1 handicap.

I should have said, both teams to score was the bet at evens. Some cracking info on here folks, new to the site, but a keen reader now.
Think a good value treble is btts in the Lazio match, Marseille match and Stuttgart. If you want to avoid the German game because it is a stingy 4/6, try the Eupen match at 8/11. Scoring for fun at home, so really the hope is you are just betting one goal for the away side at 8/11.

Can’t really complain with the scoreline, 4-2, Martin misses a penalty, ticked off the win, got the -1 hc and we deserved to concede.
Both Martins goals and both of Wolves goals worth watching on the highlights. How the hell Brysons going to get in this side, I don’t know. Blackburn away I think Wednesday, they have their main man central defender banned for that game – Martin caused him problems last year. With Rhodes and martin on the goals, its going to be a tighter affair, probably tougher than this one, maybe a btts would be a safer option for that game, but Derby’s last 6 games won 5, drawn 1. I’d have to say a close win for that one for Derby.

Glad you made some cash, always good to see. I was right about Lefondre, pain in the ar*e, won the corner to get the goal and a peach of an ” impossible volley “. Derby played well today, Ince was off his usual form although he got us the penalty, Russell got a deserved goal which was due, Martin missed a penalty and still got 2 ( his snapshot curler was class and his 50/50 goalkeeper header was brave – got a punch from their keeper, but worth seeing ). Wolves first goal was text book breaking away from a marker and deserved. I know I’ve raved about Thorne lately, but even though he’s putting in solid performances, its Bradley Johnson that’s bossing the midfield for us. Wednesdays game away to Blackburn is going to be a big challenge, harder than this last game and I think it will be a closer game. We used to be aweful away to sides from the North west but last year we picked up a lot of points up there so we bucked the trend. The gaffer picked his only unchanged side fro the previous match this season, I can see him sticking with it. I do expect a Derby goal, maybe we’ll get a couple, but Blackburn have Rhodes, if we’re lucky, he’ll have an off day.

Question about level stakes. In the past I’ve played with level stakes for a month, then re-divided my bank by 100 at the end of the month to give a new point-value. This month I switched tactics half way through and am now dividing at the end of each day. After a week of losing bets this has helped (slightly) reduce my losses and had I been on a run of wins would have increased my winnings. What do other people do? My aim is to get a betting bank of £1000 and then withdraw anything above that at the end of each month. For now though I’m keeping everything in as I’m only at around £350……

Michael personally I don’t do level stakes purely because you can’t be as sure as one bet landing compared to another. Football especially because of the various card from day to day. Like you see I’ll vary my stakes depending what bet I’m on and how confident I am. Works for me. Not been a good month profit wise for October but over £600 staked and I’ve lost none of it.
