THERE was a nasty Shanghai surprise for Roger Federer yesterday as he was sent packing by Spanish qualifier Albert Ramos-Vinolas in round two.

Title favourite Novak Djokovic has now been cut from evens to 4-6 at Paddy Power while Andy Murray is in from 7-1 to 6-1 Skybet and BetVictor.

Murray begins his title bid this morning with a first-ever meeting with world No.47 Steve Johnson. Underdogs hoping to follow in Ramos-Vinolas’s footsteps include Ivo Karlovic priced up at 19-10 by Sportingbet to take down Rafa Nadal and Coral’s 9-4 shot Nick Kyrgios against Kei Nishikori.

At the Hong Kong Open Britain’s Heather Watson is just 2-9 to at Marathonbet to make it past Ya-Hsuan Lee.

England’s cricketers struggled on day one against Pakistan and are out to 15-2 at bet365 to win the first Test which resumes this morning in Abu Dhabi.

There’s plenty more cricket and tennis on the go today plus Stateside sport such as NHL so let’s hear all your tips and thoughts and good luck with your bets.

    bautista agut d raonic @9/5
    sock d berdych @ 21/10
    pospisil d gaquet @9/4

indoors id take raonic but on this surface i think rba has a good chance. has lost to troicki and just scraped past bellucci since his title indoors in russia. rba solid enough to make this tricky for milos.

berdych has lost to some people he shouldnt be losing to over the past few months, and sock could add to that list if he brings some proper tennis to the table. Capable if berdychs off his game of taking this.

pospisil leads h2h anad beat gasquet on these courts a couple of years back. like sock theres a danger vasek wont turn up with his A game and brain, but heres hoping!

just small stakes as i wont be at all surprised to see them all flop!

Nadal & Nishikori Vs the Big hitters.
    Double equals over evens.

Sorry Ad but I think Berdych will wipe sock out because his illness has subsided. That’s what was hampering his recent performances.

Taking this now and will look to maybe add a few more points on the weekend depending how we see injury news.

    NFL Week 6

    Sunday Double

    23/25 @ 888 – 6.85 points

I’ve said before and been proved right, Nishikori never makes it easy. Rather than wasting money on rubbish odds for Kyrgios to win a set I’m splitting my stake on both players to win 2-1.

For a £20 stake (£10 on each) Nishikori is £18 profit and Kyrgios £40

    Saturday College Football

    Michigan State at Michigan 8:30pm

Michigan State are unbeaten 6-0 while Michigan are 5-1 after losing the first game

Michigan State have also beaten Michigan 6 out of the last 7 times & 5 of those wins were by 14+ points,
So it’s simple this one, Michigan State have the stats to win so they must right?

No, because although Michigan State are 6-0 they are not playing well, whereas Michigan after losing the first game have only conceded 14 points in their next 5 games
Their last 3 games they have not conceded a single point.
Also Michigan have only conceded an average 150 yards per game over the last 5 games

Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook is terrible under pressure and needs time on the ball and Michigan should take advantage of this.

Michigan State (MSU) have some serious injury problems but are confident of having Kodi Kieler, Jack Conklin and Jack Allen back which will be a massive boost but maybe not enough.

Michigan like to start fast and rack up some points then ease off late on but they can step it up again.

Probably the best matchup on the field & one I want to see is MSU Wide Receiver Aaron Burbridge against Michigan Cornerback Jourdan Lewis who has been excellent this season

I have already tipped Michigan -6.5 points 10/11 ladbrokes
but that has gone now & Michigan are now 8 point favourite

A second tip I like is
Michigan to score over 24.5 points 10/11 ladbrokes

  12. johnb 1 year ago

Sorry Michigan is over 24 points, NOT 24.5

    Main bet today is:

    Devon Alexander Points @Evens

also small stakes on Lee selby V montiel Over 9.5 rounds @ evens

Montiel is tough but i expect selby to stop him late, he is a former multiple divison champion but he is much smaller and at the end of his career.

    Total Rounds

    * Selby V Montiel 7th Round And Over
Alexander V Martinez 7th Round And Over

    Double @ 10/11

Selby is not know for his punching power and although wanting to impress on his US debut I think he is in for a tougher fight than what his 1/25 odds suggest. Being the bigger man he Will fight this on the outside where he will be comfortable with not many big shots being thrown and I can’t see an early stoppage against the tough Montiel this is more likely to go the distance
Devon Alexander is a much better fighter than Aaron Martinez and this is a must win for him too get his career back on track. Although not on his level Martinez has recently gone the distance with Robert Guerrero and is no mug. Alexander should approach this fight with caution as he cannot afford to slip up at this stage of his career and if so this 10 round fight should also be going to the cards.
I’m playing it safe with both fights and taking both to reach the 7th as there is pottential in both of a late stoppage but either of them going under 6 rounds is very unlikely i feel
