Most of my bets were tied up in goals but one game beat my early btts treble and one team (Rosenborg) downed the second. The Super Single was a tale of woe with Leigh Griffiths having two goals disallowed (correctly) for offside in the first 12 minutes and missing a second-half sitter that would have earned Celtic an undeserved point against Molde.
Greg Browning though likes all tournaments … the Champions League, the Europa League and I'm sure he'd even pick a winner from the Women's Over-60s Crocheting Championship. His nap landed again thanks to over 2.5 goals at Viktoria Plzen and he advised cover on his overs treble at 7-2. Thanks to banned L1 for putting out the treble bet didn't win – I've been working and was taking that from the comments having already placed my bets for the day before Greg's advice landed.
I can't believe we're at Friday already – the week's flown by probably because I was on holiday (apart from last night).
My concentration has been on my Daily Record column but from reading tips on the site and spending a bit of time looking at the games I've come up with a fourfold – if I get time I'll add reasoning but need to finish my Saturday pages first.
Derby fan Nathan Ufton's already previewed his side's trip to fierce rivals Nottingham Forest and sees loads of cards – over 4.5 bookings pays 4-6 at bet365. I know he's reluctant to put a win for his men but I've decided to go with the away win at 6-5 at Betfred. If it wasn't a derby I'd be really confident but Forest look in a mess and have won just one of their last 12 homes matches.
In the FA Cup all eyes will be on the Class of 92s' Salford City who are massive underdogs at home to Notts County. Real Sociedad travel to Las Palmas and in the Bundesliga Hannover entertain Hamburg. Not started my write up yet. Did 2hrs stats and head to head trawling last night and I’m about halfway through todays set of things to check out on my list – such as Forsyth’s absence and if it has an impact on corners.
There is a bit of a pre-pre summary in the November 5th thread I wrote giving a few clues as to where my research is heading but for now as I’ve already told Mr F, its cards and corners where there’s more clarity. The bookies as usual have laid down their marker @ over/under 4.5 cards in this game as they do when we play leeds – the overs cards is the safest thing I’ve found so far.
In the match before last match I suggested we’d get 8/9 maybe 10 corners we got 8. The qpr game I thought we’d get about the same but counting on qpr to be more of a threat, they were – again we got 8, qpr got 4, so an overs 9 total or 10 total delivered, I think I tipped that too.
Its a similar story here.
Early indications tell me this is highly likely to deliver on the overs 4.5 cards and +9/+10/+11 total corners should come in, it depends how brave you want to be. Forset will push up the corners count, it won’t just be down to derby BUT I wouldn’t advise the race to corners markets unless you have eyes on the game and can see who’s pushing more. If you’re not, then avoid the race to corners bet as it could go either way.
Finding a goalscorer is pointless because that can literally come from anywhere too, and predicting the score is just as tough. This is going to be a slugging match all over the pitch, we know Chris Martin hasn’t got a goal in 2 games and this past 2 seasons – the most fouled player in the league – that will provide cards. We have 3 strong lads in midfield and they don’t back out of 50/50 balls, neither will forest.
The only way to stop Derby playing is to get stuck in and get physical, Blackburn, Middlesborough and Leeds did it. But this is a pitch battle against our rivals and I would not want to square up to any of Derby’s midfielders especially Johnson and Thorne.
Ince is back in the reckoning, Warnock is passed fit and most of the rest of the team will be unchanged.
I don’t think we’ll see a cricket score and I don’t think either team will put 3 goals past the opposition, it will be settled by 1 or 2 goals, probably 1 and stats and form don’t lie.
a £10 split @ £5 each for derby to win by 1 @ 11/4 and £5 on derby to win by 2 @5/1 should deliver a profit. I’m inclined to believe Derby will have enough to get the win, but Forest have had a history of being in an aweful run of results and getting a win when we’ve been in a rich vein of form too. theres been plenty of draws this past 4 or 5 seasons, plenty of 1 nils BUT most importantly, of the last 6 games against them, there have been 2x double yellows for Derby players, 1 straight red for Forest, these have all occurred at their ground and ALL in the last 3 times we’ve played them.
Hope this enough to give you something to look at if you’re looking for an early bet, and after I’ve done all my homework. I shall reply again to this thread with team news and final thoughts at around 7pm.

Re: Forest/Derby tomorrow. This is the biggest game of their season and our 2nd biggest and I’ve spent a good hour looking at various head to head stats and past bits of info and looking for something that I can tip and I’ve found some peaches. My usual preview may be a bit longer than normal, I apologise in advance but i’ll be concentrating on 3 markets. Its highly likely you’ll need a Bet365 acct because the markets exist on what I’m looking at.
Anyone who’s tipping/betting on their own team that’s playing their most hated rivals will understand that its sometimes difficult to put your heart to one side and engage your brain only. This is exactly the same dilemma that rangers/celtic have had but its twice per year we usually play them, rather than the potential for upto 6 times per year with the celtic/rangers ( cup games ), man u/Liverpool, there can’t be that many others in the country that seem as personal as this one especially given the Clough link and 11 miles between us. Although I hate doing it, I have been known to bet against my side when I need to.
Posting my preview isn’t done to gain brownie points, I actually feel like its my duty, my contribution to this site and I know I’m under no pressure to do it but sharing my knowledge on my own team and the match preview and the follow on post match is all geared towards one goal. To put cash in our pockets and take it back from the bookies.
Dougie Freedman is under so much pressure to deliver a result which if they win, he will keep his job and they’ll probably build a statue outside their ground. Lose the game and he’ll join QPR’s manager who felt the ” Derby County ” affect a few days ago.
My preview will appear at 7pm or just shortly after and I shall write the preview prior to the team news being announced and then cut n paste to save time.
Aside from the 5 nil we gave them, this game is usually a hard fought all out battle, usually a draw or a win by a single goal and always delivers cards if you ignore 1 of the last 6 matches ( at our ground that had one card ), theres been 28 cards in 5 matches !! this includes 2x double yellows ( both derby players ) and a straight red for a forest player. I count a yellow and a red as 2 yellows or 2 cards, a red, I count as 2. ALL 3 sending off’s have ALL occurred at their ground and the average cards in this Forest/Derby fixture ( at their ground ) is 6-7-7 or 6.66 cards per match. I’ll recap on this tomorrow but I have work to do looking into corners and goals so IF you can wait for my preview before betting, then please do. I’ll try to guide you with some gold.
I’ve found another gem of a stat that’s occurred in 12/14 forests games. And some other bits and bobs.
Not counting a solitary 0-0, Forest have conceded first in 12/14 league games. or in simple terms 85.7% of their games.
This suggests that Derby will bag the opener.
I am more confident of this than Derby winning even though we have the stats and form to back it up and forest don’t. It is afterall a local Derby of the bitterest level.
Forest do have a very good shots per game average, its top 5 in the league, but considering their star goalscorer Mills in on 2 !! ( a defender ), they have had 7 other 1 goal players. Meanwhile back at Derby Martin alone has scored 1 less than their combined total of 9. So Forest couldn’t score in a brothel.
Paul Clement has told his team to keep a level head, I’m guessing he’s seen the same red card stat that I have. Its always good when other people flag up stuff that I’ve discovered myself and the guys at WLB also mentioned the red card element.
I’ve managed to find a bit of a knack in reading games prior to the first ball being kicked, and this is my take on it.
Every pass/block/tackle/throw-in/corner/ball retrieval and goal celebration has the potential to spill over into a handbags at 50 paces.
If Derby get the opener which they ought to, the insurmountable pressure that’s already on Dougie Freedman will be dropped straight onto their players and they will tackle harder because the fans will get on their backs. This will be a breeding ground for the ref and his trusty cards. Forest cannot sit back because we’ll tear them a new one. They will attack and fire off a few shots which will result in deflections/blocks for corners but judging by how often they find the net, they could even struggle to register. The stats suggest they’ll get no more than 1 goal if they’re lucky.
They cannot counter attack us because we’ll have Johnson and Thorne defending our back 4.
This leaves them with the one option: to compete physically and try to break up our flowing football. Physicality = cards.
The cards stats I’ve provided, the corner stats ( further down this thread ) have also been provided, and I’ve provided a gem of a stat in the first team to score.
So my recommended bets will be ( all at bet365 prices )

Just a little off script this but Bryson who’s started to make the odd cameo appearance after a 10 game layoff turns 29 today. I can’t see him making a start because those playing week in week out without him have given us 8 wins and 2 draws from 10. Don’t fix what isn’t broken. I’d love to see him make a cameo appearance and get himself a goal for his birthday. Also Ince is fit and raring to go, but Weimann who’s covered for him this past 2 matches has notched up 2 goals.. I personally would rather see Ince on the pitch than Weimann, he has that much more about his flair/vision and creativity.
Lastly: 4 years ago, I walked into one of Derby’s hardcore hooligan pubs with my girl and bumped into my cousin Ash who I’d not seen in years, we went 1 nil down in the first minute and our keeper was sent off. A Jamie Ward peach and Jeff Hendrick’s first goal for the club was worthy of watching on repeat.
Very sadly, my cousin took his life 6 weeks later. I hope wherever he is, he has a big comfy chair, a great big 55 inch tele, a fridge full of ale and most importantly 3 points for Derby.

Nothing really surprises me about this line-up, the Forsyth change was expected and Ince is in reserve with Weimann earning his shirt with 2 goals from 2 matches.
A win and we go top and Forest lose their manager, a draw and their manager buys himself a little time, a loss and Notts Forest will rename a stand after him and probably offer him a 5 year contract extension. It also gives bragging rights to the victor until the rematch.
Paul Clements again re-iterated calm heads and keeping cool stating he wants to see 11 men walk off the pitch come 90 minutes.
Someone mentioned earlier that the ref often keeps cards in his pocket early on in this fixture, that is not the case, also the ref so far this season has to my knowledge never been the man in the middle for such a huge ill-tempered game. Early drama DOES happen in these games but it generally heats up as the game progresses. I think its possible the ref COULD be out of his depth in this one.
Forsyth is out which the boss might of sidelined for this match anyway due to a more defence minded approach to shut out their shots on goal.
I like the look of this side, Forest have lots of big match players out and they have little in the form of back up players. Our central defence pairing is improving as the season goes on, Christie should see more of the ball so expect attacks down that right flank, Johnson and Thorne along with Hendrick have been terrific, as has Russell and Martin.
The goal difference is huge between the 2 sides and are at the moment 16 points gap between them. Forest DO raise their game against better sides but in truth, if Derby get the opener, Forest tackles will get messier which will play into our overs cards plan. A double booking ( one from each side ) will ramp up those cards too.
If the game is still tight ( draw or 1 nil to someone, you could see a flurry of late corners too.

I support the Hammers & will do my usual £10 to win 3-1 & also to score over 1.5 goals. But a market I never normally do is the over cards market. Over 4.5 is 6/5, but one card to be issued in the first ten mins is 6/1 with Bet365? Bearing in mind the Hammers have been involved with more Red Card Games this season than probably the whole division combined, both of these appeal.
sydney v roar sees first vs second with one point difference. Roar are looking very lively this season and have seen a fair few goals whilst sydney have only scored mors than one goal in one game though they have scored in all 4 games.
Last head to head finished 5-4 with a sydney win last season. If sydney want to win this one i feel theyl need to score twice at least as roar look like a side capable of scoring in every game.

Sparta (2nd) was already mentioned on here a couple of times. Stats speak for itself, Sparta scored 2+ in all their home games and Almere (17th) conceded 2+ in all of their away games.
FC Eindhoven (3rd) are a decent team and won 2-1 at Volendam last week. They scored 20 in 12 games and only failed to score at home once. They should be able to score 2 against Fortuna Sittard (16th) who were beaten 3-0 / 4-0 / 3-0 in their last 3 away games against bottom half teams.

Aussie A league action sees Sydney v Brisbane. Should be goals in this one. The only proviso I would say is we have had a day of thunderstorms in Sydney and if it is lashing down at kick off I would be wary on overs. May be an idea to keep an eye on the cards markets if it is raining.
Brisbane are playing much better this year under the new coach but looking at their opponents who they have beaten so far are Adelaide, Central Coast and WSW. This is their hardest test so far and I don’t think they are good enough.They have enough attacking options and could very well score. looking at the weather radar looks like rain will stay away for first half at least.

Backed the wrong team last night but at least the goals bet covered that error to break even with a little bit chipped off the losses. Really poor card today in my view and probably best left alone but if I was taking something it would be at reduced stakes again with low confidence.
The match I have taken is much like yesterday in that I expect BTTS and overs but not sure on the outcome. Only Hajduk have won at Zapresic in the league this season but most of their home matches are draws. Lokomtiva sit 8th and their only points on the road were a draw at 7th place and wins at the 2 teams below them. I think Zapresic have a chance.

Dear Mr F,
Being a die hard forest fan for too many years of hurt, I have to say that we are going nowhere under dougie freedman. Our form under him has been awful and I’ve won a lot this year betting on double chance for the away team when we are at home. I can’t see us winning tonight, Derby are just coming off the back of a qpr win and won 8 in 10 of their last games drawing the other two. Forest can’t win at all look woeful at the city ground. We haven’t won in 8 games losing 5 and drawing 3. If anything I’d be tempted to bet on forest lose and dougie getting sacked within 24 hours. Theres a lot of hype about Nigel clough taking over at forest and emulating his dad. I for one hope this happens as freedman is far from inspiring. Just be warned though it is a rival Derby game and all that can go out the window.
Nigel Clough is a top manager, but he needs time and I fear that outside forces such as fans/chairman/transfer restrictions would screw up any chance of turning your season around. He might be able to stop the rot as he did at Derby but his real work was done off the pitch after the first season was done and we were safe. He got rid of all those who didn’t want to play for the team and replaced them with a couple of gems from lower leagues, guys who’s diehard dream was to pull on a shirt for that club. By the time McClaren took over from him, he had 95% of the team in place and we were making good progress, but it took over 2 years to get to that stage.

Harpreet it has every chance mate and I wish you luck the only danger I see is if Derby take a decent lead before half time and start playing within themselves it’s unlikely as in Derbys you want to win by a wider margin as possible but only worry I would have with that like. I had ovr 2.5, 4.5, 6.5, 7.5. That last minute goal made it an amazing profit.
The 2nd half is a death trap for me, i’ve seen games like this have zero goals in 2nd half but then other games go 20-0 or something. So impossible to tell. If Standard Liege come flying out the traps and are having lots of attacks/shots then id bet around 4 goals (bookies are saying 5), so odds are bad. So Id suggest waiting and see how the game goes.

Largely unimpressed so far with Derby, there ought to of been more cards so the ref is a bit hit and miss. The movement is good but ball control and passing is sunday league standard.
